LOL! Nah, I am sure that no one missed me which is A-OK. I remembered while I was away that I need to be away from everyone/thing on occasion to appreciate being back home. Gary was laughing at me when I said it was the first time I missed him in a long time. I hadn't been away from him for more than a few hours in almost 2 years! October 2019 I was away with my mom for one night and the longest time since then has to be about 3 hours when he needed to run down to his parents for something. I really missed my dogs too but I didn't miss the bed-hogging and barking. I heard plenty of other dogs barking from fireworks but at least it wasn't right next to me.
My parents behaved decently. I told my mom I gave her a C+ and my Dad got a B- but only b/c he didn't ask me if I wanted food every 10 minutes. When she called me to let me know when they got home and settled after they left here I said to her that really they both got As. <3
My dad is out of his mind, however. He is 82, still technically recovering from a shoulder replacement, and what was he doing? Cutting down tree limbs. SMH!!! I kept trying to tell him I would do it or would help but man, he is *stubborn.* I worry because he is always so tired and I want him to talk to his Drs about it. But OTOH, if it makes him happy and keeps him active to do stuff like that, then I think he should go for it (in moderation).

Cait texted me pics of the rats and her and Tom on a picnic, I am showing my parents the photos of Tom so they get used to his face before they meet him in person. I don't think my mom is going to have too much of an issue because she keeps commenting on how happy Caitlyn looks with him. My dad--- ehhhhhh, not so sure. He was always more grossed out by tattoos and stuff. We'll see. Cait and Tom went to the Dollar Store and picked up a bunch of stuff for the Redneck party- including a "Grow your own Alligator"!!! We already decided that we will grow him in the tub and then throw in ice and keep our drinks in there too. She also bought nacho cheese dip in pudding cups. The one is going to be hysterical!

I have so much laundry to do today and get ready for food shopping tomorrow. If I can do that early enough then I want to work in my gardens a bit too.

How is everyone? Did you have a nice weekend?/Monday?
I hope to catch up from all three days but if I miss something, I apologize.

BIG hugs!!!!

Weekend:

@tanteva BTDT with the oven, I blame Urban too even if he lives a continent away from me. Haha!! We are watching Hinterland, it is sooooo very different than American crime dramas. There was one scene where someone had a small knife by the neck of someone else and all of the police were standing saying "Please don't do that, you don't want to do that." And that worked, he dropped the knife. I was joking with Gary (not really a joke) that here, the guy would have been shot dead within a minute. It takes me a bit to get used to the Welsh accent but they also don't talk as fast as Americans (At least NJ-ians) do.
How sweet to see that baby bird!! Hope his mom makes sure he gets back to his nest

@Cherylndesigns Did you give Cam the biggest hug ever? Of course, you did! It must have made your heart happy! Poor pups with the fireworks. Apparently, J was so freaked out again and just shook the entire night. I wish I knew why one dog barking has to start the other or going even if there isn't any reason. Mine do that all of the time.

@scrap-genie Thanks for the good wishes- it turned out to be a nice time! Did you watch any fireworks from home or on TV?

@Kythe what other British/AU crome whos do you watch?
How neat that your sister's house is famous! We had one TV showed a couple of years ago filmed in a few spots here-we watched it even though it was awful (canceled after season 1) and recognized a couple of spots.

Kay- that was one strange dream! I wonder if any of the news from Surfside got into your brain? :(
How fun to see the commercials on VHS, my kids love that- I taped tons of episodes of Blue's Clues when they were little and they found them in the attic and watched a few for the commercials. I remember when the video phones were supposed to be the next Big Thing and I was relieved when they weren't.
What is the next movie on your list to watch?

@felis Oh my goodness, I and both amused and horrified at your Law of Attraction experiences. The house stuff might be interesting opportunities but yikes- not good to get catfished, I am so proud of you for seeing that and blocking him immediately. Whew!

Monday:
@taxed4ever Thanks for opening this up yesterday! I bet you are just super excited and impatient to get on that plane!!! *happy dancing for you*
My family has been wearing masks in busier places still. Seems to be smart to do that with the Delta variant. I mentioned to my parents since they are around Christopher who can't get vax'ed to be cautious just in case...
Good luck getting everything organized and packed. I am so happy for you.
How is BIL doing today? How terrifying to find out about his health like that. :(

@tanteva Never had that happen with chilis but many times when I pet the rats. I am very allergic to Caitlyn's rats and if I pet them, forget to wash my hands, and then touch my eyes, my corneas will bubble up. More times than I like to admit. Have fun at work today!

@felis The same weird thing happened with my and my credit card last week. I had to open the website in MS Edge to get it to work. Thanks for the Crochet Academy link. I haven't touched any of my stuff in so long and I should start up again if I want to send the hats out to the women's shelters before it gets cold.

@bcgal00 is it sad to sell your camera equipment or do you know it is time? Oh, I kept reading and see that you are buying new, smaller ones! Makes so much sense to do that!
Give Remo some pets, is Taz being good with not riling her up or she is trying to instigate him? Or both?

Kay It sounds like we are all pretty cautious and are doing "the wait and see what the next phase is" in regards to taking the masks off completely. Oh no(?) -- how many tapes did you find in DHs office? It doesn't sound like it took you too long to inventory them too. Hope that the fan installation goes well and that they can fix the ring for you in the other room.

xoxo

Welcome home, Chris. Sounds like you had a fun time and your parents were on their 'better behavior'. I hear you about not being able to keep your Dad from doing things he shouldn't since his shoulder surgery... <<< sigh >>> Unfortunately, he is an adult and a bit stubborn - so he will do what he thinks he needs to do. Overall, the mini-vacation sounds like it was good for you. Oh... can't wait to see what you come up with for the Redneck party. The Grow your own alligator sounds hysterical!

There were about 40 VHS tapes in the office and they are all inventoried and back in place in the office. Found a professionally made 2-tape set of Pearl Harbor - the movie + background story of the event - so enjoyed watching it last evening. I know I have seen it before but had forgotten the first half of the movie. Wow... the battle scenes were realistic. So glad that I found this set. Got a call from the fan installer while I was watching it. He wanted to know if he could come earlier than the 5PM appointment... and was happy to agree. So he will be here at 9AM. Neither one of us could figure out why the appt was set up so late in the day. So... gotta close this out and get a few things done before he arrives. CYL

Hello all!Ca

Welcome back, Chris! Sounds like you had a good time and your parents behaved. Haha

Cam left yesterday about 2 PM. He didn't want to leave, but he still has roots (a job and a gf) in Florida. He'll be back in September for a wedding. It was a super busy weekend, but he had fun and finally got some good fishing in the evening before the fireworks. He's buddies with one of the guys who lives here, so they got some good fishing in. I think that's Cam's favorite thing to do in the whole world! He's loved fishing since he was a kid.

Chris, those poor dogs - well, poor Lila - the fireworks are so hard for some of them. I can't even image what a Veteran goes through, if they have any PTSD. Or, anybody who has PTSD, for that matter. They're very nerve-wracking. We watched them on TV as usual - the Macy's fireworks. It was spectacular!

Kay, you've been so busy! That movie must have been amazing! My uncle was in the Navy during WWII and he had an awesome tape of a typhoon that they went through on the battleship he was on! It was really something!

We have to water today - we didn't water yesterday. Everybody (even the boyfriends) came over for dinner last night. We had meatloaf, corn pudding, green bean casserole, potatoes and Chuck's special chocolate cake. It was our "swan song" because they're moving into the "big house" this week so we won't be gathering here much after that. We've all piled into our small house since last December, but it's been fun. We've made it work. All the kids were out looking at the garden and "their plants". Alyssa found a really nice cucumber - we were so excited! We've also had fried green tomatoes (last week) and now have ripe ones, oh and a few strawberries are coming on. I'm drying dill right now and am going to grind it up and put it in a shaker. I desperately need to separate a LOT of plants - they're growing all over each other. That's why we didn't see the cucumber. Haha It's supposed to cool down next week, so I'm planning to do it then.

Waving to all and sending hugs.

good afternoon - it was a busy 4th of July holiday. It started on Friday when our town decided to do fireworks and of course it rained so that was the pits. Then on Sat my son had a huge family gathering - was was so fun. The kids are starting to see us as part of the family. My DH fell asleep at one point and the kids (boys) convinced my oldest son to paint his dad's fingernails red. Those young boys thought it was the funniest thing and it was. I know everyone always says there are differences between boys and girls but since I only had boys it just never came up. Well at the party two of the girl cousins and I were playing blocks and building castles and then the boy cousins came and instead of building it was knocking them down. And the noise level increased LOL. So fun. Yesterday my son and fiancé came down to eat at their fav restaurant. In between all the family it was watch the Tour da France and Stanley Cup Final. Both are exciting.

@faerywings Chris glad your get away went well. So happy your parents enjoyed it too. That is amazing how well your dad and his shoulder are doing. That is funny how you are showing them photos of Tom so they can be prepared.

@taxed4ever Trudy you must be so excited to be heading of to Ottawa and the grands. Hope your BIL heals fast. Ulcers can be very scary. I don't know how he put up with pain.

@tanteva Eva my DH has indeed cut chile and then touched his eyes. Not a pretty site. He is actually recovering from poison Sumac. He walks our dog in the woods and his arms are full of blisters. At least he did not touch his face. And it did not get on his legs. And this is why I do not walk off the beaten paths.

Kay glad you are getting that fan fixed and the ring did not fall in the blades. 40 tapes wow that is amazing. I bet it is fun to watch them. What memories.

@bcgal00 Rae saw you were selling your cameras. I got the Nikon point and shoot you got and I love it but there are some things that my dSLR does that it just cant do. But for close ups Nikon is pretty cool. Good to know some one else will be enjoying the camera! Glad you are still taking photos though. Quick recovery to Remi!

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl wow I cant believe you are already getting stuff from your garden. It must be exciting for them to move into the big house. Glad Cam got in his fishing!

Waving to all!

I'm super tired, but not sleepy tired, just sorta empty brained. Past midnight, and I should be sleeping. But watched a silly romantic comedy instead. Will be back tomorrow, my normal sweet and cheery self. ;)

Hello my lovelies!
My uncle came to visit us unexpected which was very nice, but totally messed up my plans as I was procrastinated all my tasks the evening when the temperatures calms down.
I ended up chases around Middleton who was grab one sandal and was running and chew it around, he is the most adorable beasty and the whole this finished with him having new 'toy' unfortunately. LOL! Then I didn't have mood for other than quiet Youtube night! I'm so productive these days. LOL! :p

Rae, I have to go back and see what is happening with Remy as I'm miss these post, but wish her fast recovery!

Eva, I know that feel so well, too often I tired myself with watching YouTube channels whole night after exhausting day instead of gets healthy sleep, just because I needs to procrastinate my before bed procedures.

Nancy, you are amazing, how fast you start to love these kids and to accept them for yours, my admirations and astonishment! Sounds as a lovely family meeting! How is your other son feels? I hope things going more clear for him too!

Cheryl, you are saw that I love to share my garden on IG for people that lives in apartments, and I'm a little bit sad that you're not shared yours with us! I hope in some point to take photos for here or even to make a layout! Yep, I'm a very curious person! Also I bet the autumn season with the whole holidays decoration in your house will be marvelous, I'm so looking for that! This is my favorite part of Chris's content too (after the dogs of course). So sad to have so short time with Cam, but hope he will come again soon!

Kay, how lucky to have this appointment earlier and to not have to wait the fan installer whole day!

Chris, I definitely missed you so much!!! Looks like no one else was interested from these my oddo stories, and it's not a big deal, but definitely make difference when someone comment on them. You have this habit to makes the other feels special! *hug and kiss smiley*
Your vacancy sounds nice and it was so well deserved! Bravo for your parents behavior! But the beach trip is still on the list right?
I had to googled and do Growing an Alligator is toys that expand in water? If is that looks so cool, if is not please explain it! I don't follow Cait on IG, because I definitely don't want my mom's friends to spy me, so don't do it myself (Leah's page is business so that's different story), but I'm curious did she is post some pics with Tom?
Pff, I hate that about the credit cards, it happens for second or third time I'm not sure, and it's supposed automatically to convert currency, but NOO. We ended up take the membership on my mom's card as her bank don't have these issues. The whole family will use the site, so just let me know if you want the password *wink*.
