helloO! And a good morning to ya! How are you all doing today?

I think I am hanging in pretty ok, trying to keep myself mentally engaged this time of year is always a little difficult. I don't even bother with being physically engaged, Couch Potato Chris is in da house ;) I got on the scale yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that I only gained 3 lbs since the holidays. I would have guessed it was close to 10. It *feels* like it was closer to 10. It's hard to care when I am under a gazillion layers of clothes. I did a 30-minute yoga session and am slowly seeing some strength returning. It's bonkers how quickly I lost it just by skipping a few weeks.

I can't say that I got much accomplished yesterday but I did a little of this and that. I caught up on the things that tend to pile up-- filing, shredding old papers, taking out all of the recycling. I spent an hour or so working in ACDSee. I have kits from a year ago that still need to be tagged. However, the two things on my To-Do list- did not get done. Maybe today LOL

Jaida is jumping around to go outside, I'll be back for personals soon :)

yuck, it is cold, cold cold out there. I don't understand why J wants to stand guard over the driveway when it's 20*. She refuses to come in, stubborn and ill-trained dog. I don't get it. She was the only dog we took for training classes and she does *not* listen (unless you have a treat). Even Whisky- the street dog, no less- can get herself under control, even though you can see her struggle.
That's kind of funny to watch. She'll start barking at the UPS truck and I'll tell her "sit" and "hush" and she will, but she practically vibrates and whines under her breath. Jaida is a lost cause :rolleyes1:
But we love her. :heartpumppink:

@vickyday The laundry room collects all sorts of things and I never have the mental energy to deal with it. Cait cleaned out the linen closet and is getting rid of a ton of bath towels and wash clothes-- by giving them to me to deal with LOL They were in the laundry, and now they are on my dresser. In piles. blergh...
I hope that the weather is good for the widows' meeting today. If not, will you visit with Ilene today? That was so sweet of you to pick up some groceries for her.
And thank you again for sending me the info on fat balls for the birds.

RE: birds--- This is new-to-me info but it is soooo amazing that I have to share it even if you all know already. I was listening to a podcast about birds and I learned that woodpeckers tongues wrap around their skull. Literally. I had to look up pictures because I could not wrap my head ahead it. (Hahah! No pun intended.) Nature is freaking fascinating!

Vicky-- hope that you are able to get the shy (or smart) birds to come out for the seeds on the ground so you can get some good pictures of them.

@LaurieW I am so excited to read that you and your DH still go to ballroom dancing lessons. I remember you talking about that and sharing pics way back when.
That part of your post was much nicer to read about than trying to clean the house of the depressed man. The cat hair must be everywhere. And I don't; want to think about the smell. Hopefully, the housing market is still hot enough for sellers that it won't take long to sell once it is listed.

@BrightEyes That's wonderful to hear that you are sleeping better.
Wow, you did a fab job on those photos, what a difference! Hope the weather cooperated and you have your get-together with the girls today.

I also need to buy some more storage so will be looking on marketplace for hopefully something suitable at a reasonable price. I want to scrap, create jewelry, do some laundry and housework and maybe read a bit. That should fill up my day completely :)
Sounds like a perfect day for you!
How did you do with meal planning? I have some recipes scribbled down for the week, hopefully I'll stay on track and actually cook ;)

@taxed4ever I'm not surprised that you slept until 8 am. You must be exhausted from everything. I hope that you had a relaxing day and did everything you wanted, not needed, to do. All of my fingers and toes are crossed for good weather tomorrow, I know that hiking will be very beneficial for you.

@melscrap Send some sunny and hot my way, please :D
I could use a break from the cold, winter weather here. Hope that you and MIL "behaved" while DH was working from home. If not, blame it on MIL, he can't get mad at his mom. :shemademe: :giggle4:

Drat, I woke up with a scratchy throat and I was hoping it would be better after my coffee, but no such luck. Please don't let me get a cold. :praying2:

germ-free hugs~~~~

MOrning O Fam!

It is brr brr cold out- single digits. I have some homeblessing to do, haircut and a stop at the post office to price a package for mailing. I will likely bundle up and visit the grocery store as well as the thrift store today while I am out. Two of my 4 grandkids are coming on Saturday and staying until Monday. They live 2.5 hours away. Their daycare is closed Monday so we will watch them and return them. Think photo opporturnities. My GD wants to paint a santa ornament on a shell, so we shall see how that goes!

@faerywings I don't notice much smell, but husband does. The home is in a very desirable neighborhood and hopefully he will get a bidding war once he puts it back on the market. There were three potential showings when he first put it on the market. Hopefully not too many more "cleaning" sessions will be needed.

I've been wondering if there is a way to tag things other than with acdsee, especially since I don't have it. Might be something to do while my back is on ice today. I must've strained it during one of my coughing fits yesterday.

Will be a quick in and out this morning. Woke up at 5:30AM to bright light coming in around the blinds in the bedroom... it was the "Wolf Moon" lighting up the whole area.... just like a spotlight on my backyard!! Beautiful but COLD... 18*F but feels like 7*F!!! Will need to bundle up when I go to the Brown Bag luncheon. Yes, I did get my fruit/veggie salad made yesterday, Made enough for supper last evening, lunch today and for lunch tomorrow. It was so delicious! I don't add the dressing until right before I eat so it keeps just fine in a covered container. Ended up adding some cranapple bits that added the perfect crunch and sweetness.

The house is warmed up enough for my shower so will get that done early. May even have enough time to throw in a load or two of laundry .... that I didn't around to doing yesterday. :floorlaugh: HAGD

Unfortunately/fortunately there is no widows' meeting today. I was looking forward to seeing everyone but my back and IBS is saying a big NO. Guess I'll be icing the back for a couple of days and then switch over to heat. At least that's what Google says to do. I was up half the night in the recliner. So no visit with Ilene today either. BOOOO!

Good morning,
Vegging in the recliner today after a rough evening and night. I strained my lower back yesterday during one of my coughing fits. It's a good thing the widows' meeting was cancelled because I would have had to cancel any way.
I need to somehow get myself some coffee. I'm freezing myself as I apply ice to my back.

Hope you have a great day!

Be careful driving to your luncheon and other places! Have a great time!

Morning everyone! I have to be quick in and out of here today. I am off to the Dentist for a cleaning Yippee!!:hahano: its not my favourite way to spend the morning! I finally scrapped a page for one of the challenges yesterday and hopefully can get another going today. It was good to feel creative again! I am worried over my hike tomorrow as they changed the level of how tough it will be from a 1A which is pretty easy to a 3B which is kinda tough!! Guess it was a typo error when they sent the e-mail to everyone. I haven't hiked for about 3 weeks, so not sure how my body/heart will handle this one. Then there is facing everyone who will be giving me condolences for the loss of my brother, I am not good with things like that. I need to suck it up and get on with life!! its so hard though when I dream about my brother every night I can't imagine what my poor sister in law is going through!! Anyway I better get a move on or I will be late for my appointment. I will hopefully spend some time here this afternoon, or perhaps going for a long walk to prepare for my hike tomorrow???

I had a similar day yesterday and went from this to that, flitting around the house. I did get a layout done though and saw one of yours from Cait's Wedding, so beautiful!! Hope you get your to-do-list crossed off today!
Two of my 4 grandkids are coming on Saturday and staying until Monday. They live 2.5 hours away.
How nice to have your grands with you for the weekend!! Mine are all a 5 hour plane ride away, so I am envious of you! Enjoy every moment with them!

Ohhh I would have loved to have seen that Wolf Moon!! Usually I can see the moon in our bathroom, but I didn't even get up to use the facilities last night, which is very rare for me!!

Ouch, sorry you have strained your lower back!! Nothing more annoying than a back ache!! I guess it is a good thing the meeting was cancelled, hope you feel better very soon!!

Ok off I go... :eek3:I hope you all have a wonderful day! :waving3:

Thanks, Trudy! I googled what to do about a lower back muscle strain and it said to apply ice.....I was applying heat! And, the ice has already helped immensely! Who knew?! It said after the severe pain is gone, then I can apply heat! I've got all kinds of blankets and afghans on me as the ice is freezing me.....even though I have it insulated inside a thick towel and I have pjs and a house coat on!

Maybe talking with your hiking friends will take your mind off of the strenuous level and off of your brother for a while! :praying2::lovey3::hug4:

Took MIL shopping for some pants - a great way to kill several hours. She didn't end up finding any, but did buy a nice top. So I guess that's something. Maybe she'll have better luck with the stores in my SIL's side of town later this month.

HAGD everyone!

I'm so late today.. My shoulder MRI was this morning and then we had to have our pipes cleaned in 1/2 the house. Tomorrow our granddaughter is coming for a week so we need to get her at Tampa airport then the fun begins.. I finished cleaning up after the sliding door install and hang valances/ drapes. It's chilly here in Florida but we certainly have it better than most of you.

@BrightEyes to see that moon was cool

@vickyday I feel your pain...I sleep in the recliner every night from 4ish on because of my shoulder pain. Good luck getting well.

Have a great day everyone.
