hello my Dear O-Fam!
How are all of you today? It feels kind of weird to say that it is Feb 28th, but not the last day of February. One more day for that. And that is good-- because if you are working on posting goals for scrap challenges, you have an extra day in there. :whoo:
I am super close to hitting my posting goal for this month, and I'll get it today for sure.

My grocery shopping trip was heart-stopping at the check out! Real food is expensive, darnit!! I spent $160...... although I did save a little over $100 in coupons and sales so that's a good thing to focus on. I got some pork tp make pulled pork in the crock pot for tonight so *fingers crossed* that will go over ok. Tacos for another night. Do you know how hard it is to find food for an anemic girl who wants to be a vegetarian? And one who won't eat beans/legumes either? Gah!!!
I am a totally evil mother because I have no sympathy about her having to take more supplements. She was complaining about the iron pills and all I could think was "Ya did it to yourself honey!" Honestly, I am concerned, but don't tell her that, please! :D

I also had a major fight with my computer too.... I must have deleted a kit and LO I was working on by accident because when I went to open the LO and scrap-- it was all gone. I spent almost an hour searching folders and drives for it (yes, Phyllis, a total time eater!!!!) only to realize it was gone for good. :(

Oh well what can you do?

Tip on Tuesday
I know I mentioned this blog previously, but I am finally getting the whole shutter speed and aperture and how to work them!
31 Day Series I have tried so many times to get these straight in my head, but this blog author seems to have a knock for making it easier to understand, If you shoot only on auto and want to give manual a try-- check this out!

xoxo!!!

Personals:

Eva- congrats on getting to "grown-up status!" LOL What kind of car are you looking at? Have "fun" at work!

Phyllis- I hear ya on the "do" I haven't had mine cut or colored since September. ugh!!!! Dark brown roots, streaked with gray and frizzed, bleached out ends. Not a pretty picture
Yeah, Cait is like me, not crazy about meat or anything that looks like an animal. Meat comes from the store, wrapped in plastic. End of story! I got her gummer calcium bites that she likes well enough. She does eat cheese, so I am going to push that.
I have osteopenia and she is at risk too- family history of severe osteoporosis, small frames and bad eating habits for both of us. I worry.

How is the room painting coming along? That is on my to-do list for spring.

Kristy-- yay!! Great news that the kids are feeling better!

Trudy- you *are* a fab photographer! Your date sounds wonderful and romantic. YMG is a keeper! I'll have to check out some of Jamie O's stuff. I know I checked out some cookbooks of his a few years ago, need to try again. :)

That's it? You were all very quiet yesterday. I guess my crankiness scared everyone off. But you can come out now, I am all better!!!!!

MOrning all - Very cold this am and warming up by the afternoon. I finally had time to upload and scrap last night- seems like forever since I could just sit and do that- however the black fur spots on the worn blue carpet tell the tale a little differently. Today, work, then - maybe groceries. We will see how I feel when the day is over. I remember today as the day I woke up and discovered before work I did not go to that our basement was slowly flooding with one inch of water. I may have to do a before/after photo- not totally after yet, but certainly getting there. Some year!!

Chris have you thought about smoothies that mix spinach with other naturally sweet things to up the iron?

Tip for today- happiness starts on the inside

Chris, we had pulled pork yesterday, too! and we eat tacos almost weekly. the cost of beef is unbelievable. the cost of lamb is absolutely insane. we seem to be eating a lot of ground meat-based stuff: chili, fancy burgers, meatball hoagies, spaghetti Bolognase, lasagna.making some hot sausage today for sandwiches because i need some pizza sauce. i use the hot sausage sauce for pizza sauce when i make pizza. does your daughter like pizza? easy to make at home and cheap. you can load it up with veggies for her, and she'll get some iron and protein from the rest of the ingredients? i've been lucky with the osteoporosis stuff. my scans are always those of a 35-year-old. i fell down an entire flight of stairs at home a few years ago (uncarpeted), hit the bottom witha giant THUD,. and broke nothing. i told my husband it was good to find out that, at 60, i bounced instead of breaking.:bounce:

Laurie, didn't know about your basement flooding. that happened to us a few years ago, and we got a sump pump and the basement "waterproofed." this year i redid our radon test and found out that, since the waterproofing, our radon count went way up, and now we have to take steps to mitigate the radon. honestly, if it's not one thing, it's another.

UTI gone!! yahoo!

today, i am HOPING to finish the painting in my bedroom. the second coat goes on, which means i'm painting the entire room again. (i had to buy another gallon of paint at Sherwin Williams yesterday: $54!!!!) then we wait for the carpeting and my 2 cool pieces of furniture from Restoration Hardware.

have a happy day. hope the sun is shining where you are.

What kind of car are you looking at?

A cheap one LOL
We'll probably get a Fiat, I guess - cuz that's what the dealer here in our home town are selling, but since we're going for a used one, he might have anything really. I would LOVE to get one of the new Fiat 500, cuz it's really cute, but they don't fall under the category "cheap LOL

Quick day at work today, only a short planning meeting, the Italians won't start dropping in until tomorrow. Plus - I won't have to work tomorrow. Means I can be lazy all day tomorrow!

A tip for Tuesday, you say ... How about making raggmunk? Yummy!

Well ... lamb can cost how much it wants - I DO NOT EAT IT - hate the taste of it :)

So ... how much is beef then? I'm sure it's more expensive here in Sweden :) Ground beef usually is around 60 SEK/kg. Cheaper parts of the poor cow is about 130 SEK/kg, and the really expensive parts can be up to 300 SEK/kg. Converting this would be approx.
Ground beef $4,2/lb
Cheap parts $9/lb
Expensive parts $21/lb
(At least I think that's right - math has never been my favorite subject. 1 kg = 2,2 lbs and $1 = 6,6 SEK ... in case someone needs to know LOL)

Eva,you have to cook lamb like they do around the Mediterranean. just roasting it until it's rubbery won't do the trick. also, you need to involve a salad with feta cheese and lemon salad dressing in the meal, and rice pilaf and spanikopita! maybe baba ganouj, too. looks like ground beef is about the same price. it's between $4 and $5/lb here. everything else is higher than that, and cuts like flank steak/brisket are ridiculous. i think meat for pot roast is around $8/lb. i don't think there's anything except filet mignon that's $21/lb. here. although in the Big Cities, everything is more expensive. and at Whole Foods....

Happy Tuesday Everyone!! My very favorite day of the week!! Some light housework to do and then the day is mine to do what I please!! Might have to tear apart a fur coat and get the final three bears done, one more rock to paint and I know that I will do some scrapping today also. Really hoping that the sun comes out and I will fit in a walk today too, if no sun then the treadmill will have to do.

Chris - Hope your pulled pork turns out for you! I use this stuff from epicure to cook it in my crockpot, its a local company that has amazing spices and so much more! I love all of their products!! Here's a link http://www.epicureselections.com/en...dinner/3751/pulled-pork-recipe-seasoning-mix/
I am going to have to check out that 31 days photography site, it sounds like it could teach me a thing or two. I really need to know more about my camera! Sorry that you lost your layout and kit! Its so frustrating when things like that happen on your computer!! :frusty: glad that you chased away your grumpies!! Don't worry you didn't scare us away lol.

Laurie - Hope you get your vacuuming done today, as much as I miss my Abu, I sure don't miss the fur!! Hardly have to vacuum anymore. Have a great day at work!

Eva - Guess you will have to start studying for your driver's license soon!! Hope you get a good reliable vehicle, nothing worse than a car that nickle and dimes you death!! I don't really like the taste of lamb either and I have tried it numerous times, just something about it makes my stomach turn!!

Phylis- Isn't paint a terrible price?? I work at a hardware store and get a discount, but its still too expensive!! Cheez all you want to do is add a little color to your life!!
Glad to hear that the UTI is all gone, you must feel so much better!!

Kristy - Get some more coffee, hopefully that does the trick!! :becky:

Have a wonderful day everyone

always chatty at the O!!
Good afternoon!!

Just wanted to hop in really quick. I'm watching some TV shows then doing some clean up. We're watching our friends' kids tonight. They just got married 6 weeks ago and have already created a giant mess. Mostly because neither talks to the other until they are really mad trying to be a happy little married couple. Then he will suggest they go to a movie or something so they don't talk and he's been drinking a lot...plus she's gotten so depressed being so far from home without a job. So, I said I would watch the kids if they wanted to go out for dinner or something. Something where they have to sit and talk. They got married so fast and only had a long distance relationship experience together. It is so weird being the old married couple comparatively. LOL!!

My computer has freaked out to. I did a CT LO that I was trying to upload and my computer was sooooo bogged down and I don't know why. Ugh!! Gotta work that out soon.

Anyway, I'll try and come back for some personals in a bit. HUgs everyone!!

Good evening ladies. The four hour time difference between Maui and Iowa is kicking my butt! No way am I getting up in time for the O's or anything else. But I must say that I am still relaxed...even though I've been at work for two days. No one thought it would last that long...including me!

Need to check out the rest of the goings on around here. I'll try to make it back for personals.

Well, I haven't popped in here for a while but thought I would today! I just got my computer back in the last little bit. It's been fine but I blew a circuit breaker last night (apparently I can't use my washing machine and vacuum in the basement at the same time) and actually fried the circuit. Had an electrician in today to replace the circuit but, since it's the last one we had from the previous owners and they don't make those circuits anymore, we're getting a whole new panel on Tuesday. That means a whole day without power...hopefully it doesn't get too cold!!

Hope everyone had a great day!
