*peers at screen*
*wonders what to type so no one thinks I have lost my mind*
*gives up*

hehe, that about sums *everything* up.
I have lost my GD mind. That has to be a decent excuse, right?????

I am actually better than I was yesterday, I was still awake at 4.30 but the dogs didn't wake me up again and again last night. Having a semi-decent chunk of sleep helps a lot. The first thing I did when I rolled out of bed (it was the second thing, first was the start the coffee since I was up before it is set to brew)- take the butter and cream cheese out of the fridge. It is Baking Day.:)

I cleaned yesterday so all I will have to do on Saturday is a quick run-through. Oh and remember my nice clean carpets? The dogs didn't throw up on them, they went in a different direction this time. Muddy paw prints everywhere. LOL!
Scott is semi-quarantining, he was at his best friends a lot this weekend (the best friend and fiancee broke the engagement :( ) and his roommate tested positive. There are no rapid tests to be found in my town and he has a PCR test scheduled for Thursday, just to be on the safe side. Oh --- he is supposed to be dog sitting for my best friend... I wonder if he remembers that. #@*&%@#!!!
Like I said yesterday FUBAR!!

*deep breath*
Get back on track, Faery!
Baking. I am baking today and it *will* be FUN.
Before I start that, I have to finish the food shopping and menu for Christranms so I am going to super quick personals and be off. xoxoxoxoxo

@mom2triplets04 Hi Laura! Welcome to the kooky corner of the O. Yes, this is a great place to wear your cranky pants and vent a big. Many of us here have dogs and/or kids so we can relate.
And your puppy story- totally relatable!!! We "adopted" two Husky puppies when we first moved into this fixer-upper of a house. We only had them for two weeks, we ended up giving them to the people who laid the new carpet down. A very long story of how we got them, and how we had to give them up but it was either that we would keep these 2 puppies or we would have a house that had a kitchen. Couldn't do both.
I also had a dog who ate sofas. And a dog that bit. Love them all so much in spite of that.
Looking forward to hearing about them and your kids

@LSlycord Good call to only decorate a few things and leave the table toppers for another year. Did the fam at least help you put the boxes away when you were done?

@bcgal00 You probably did much better mentally by spending time at the dog park than if you were wrapping presents. Physically that is for sure. Hope the weather is perfect today to go to the bird sanctuary

@Cherylndesigns Thank you for saying I am talented I don't know if I would go that far. ;)
How fun to have everyone together for dinner!
If you are vax's no mask necessary- come and hibernate with me!

Laura, we are rewatching Witcher 1. I know that I missed a bunch of stuff the first time around. How is season 2 so far?

@BrightEyes Hope it wasn't a bank run going on with the long lines LOL Hope you were able to get the books that you wanted from the library today

@Susan - s3js My DD has a ton of allergies, a lot of contact stuff, thankfully no foods. But her dust-mite test results were off the charts. We had to rip up her floor last year and put down laminate. She was getting monthly shots but they weren't doing anything. She gets urticaria randomly- huge hives for no reason. We thought it was a mast cell issue but the tests came back only slightly elevated.
She is supposed to sanitize all of her bedding every week which we can't do with this piece of **** washing machine
If you have any suggestions, please-- would love to hear! Thanks!!

Hugs to you all!!

Good morning...it is still morning right? I really do need to work because I lose all concept of time when I don't. Got the tree decorated yesterday. Shaun came down and decided to help me decorate. And he put all of the boxes away. Last year when I put the decorations away, I had labeled the box with all of the ornaments that decorated the artificial tree. Both Shaun and Brian said, "Don't you remember the big fight that you and Brian had because he just wanted to jam things into boxes and you insisted that it needed to be organized." LOL Then I remembered. And Brian admitted that it was worth it this year. So reason for a happy dance!

It's cold (relatively speaking---in the 60's) and raining here. Don't know what's on the agenda today. I might go to the jeweler today---need to get a ring repaired and I think that I have found a good trustworthy one. Or maybe I will go grocery shopping for Christmas dinner. That really does need to happen. Or maybe I'll just try that art journaling I've been thinking about. So many choices. Practical or frivolous?

Let me re-fill my coffee cup and get to personals!

@faerywings I fell your pain - and hers - Chris. That's a really tough one 'cause you can't get rid of all of them. We pulled up most of our carpet, too, because of my allergies. Mine aren't this bad, though. Here are some things that work for me. Use detergents with baking soda in them. Baking soda is amazing and its neutralizing effects will remain in your clothes. You don't have to buy detergents with it, they are just the easiest. You can always add baking soda to your laundry - 1/2 cup to the tub. You might even make a solution of baking soda and water that your DD applies to her skin daily with a cloth and add it to her bathwater (hmmm, epsons salts might help that way, too). When hives appear, make a thick past of baking soda and water, apply and let dry, remove with soft wet cloth. This works on insect stings, too. It works amazingly fast. If you can't wash on hot, you can dry on high OR you can freeze at least overnight. I would recommend, to freeze first to kill the mites, then wash, and dry on high. If you have enough sheets and blankets, you could do this, then freeze again until needed if you have room in your freezer. It's tough on a girl who wants to have a pretty room but can't have curtains and stuff. Trompe l'oiel curtains might be fun, though. If none of that works, there are some other things to try. Let me know,

Happy Winter Solstice! :D It makes me happy to know there will start to be more light each day now.
Yesterday DH's Hum & Strum really did a holiday sing along for the residents of the condo complex where they now meet. A woman in the group who is immune compromised and her husband cancelled. Lots of folks from the condos came. Hope it was safe enough to do. As usual I went as photographer and used DH's new camera. Turned out to be too heavy for me by the end of the song I did as a video. And the weather! It was sunny and 41*F. About the same today.

Chris @faerywings love the baskets. And except for the washer, I know you've got this. You always get there relatively in one piece. Hope Susan's suggestions will help. I can also partly blame you for getting me going with gnomes as I made one to decorate a gift for DH (in the gnome poll thread).

Eva @tanteva hope you're all recovered from the work days, etc. Saw your printing question and wish I had some idea to help.

Waving to all.

@faerywings. I have only watched 2 episodes of witcher season 2. I need to pay attention as things happen and I have such a bad attention span and then I miss things. Love your entry post. My mind has been all over the place lately. Which you have reminded me to bake.. I want to make cookies but just haven't done it yet. My daughter made chocolate chip on Sunday and it's tuesday and there are only 2 left. Yup we ate them all. I also need to figure out what I'm bringing to my parents on Christmas day. Probably will make a pasta salad.

@lskycord - you are lucky to have nice weather. Morning it's in the 20's but right now it's 41. I hate the cold and my dog wants to go outside every 1/2 hour. Not to mention she bites my coat so it's hard to take her outside.

I made my top 10 books for the year. I read 35. Most were nonfiction. My one little word was Breathe. These were mostly audio books and thanks to the library and scribd. hopefully in 2022 I will be able to read fiction.

I also set up my January planner.

Hello all. Happy Winter! Hehe

Adrienne has been here and Ava just left. They're taking one of the wild cats to the vet today and needed our cat crate. Ava says there 7 cats now, including ours. They all hang out at her house. I went up to her house yesterday and they've everywhere. I told her to take some of them to the humane society. We have no idea where they've all come from. Sam (ours) disappears every night and he goes straight through the woods to her house. LOL There are 3 orange tabbies now. She has Harley and then came Stormy (the black cat) then more came. We laugh about them having "cat orgies" every night. Sam and Harley are "fixed" but none of the rest of them are.

I'm not motivated to do anything today.

Good morning. Didn't get to the bird sanctuary this morning unfortunately. I thought booking the day ahead was ok but apparently I need to book a day sooner so missed out on going. I booked for Thurs morning (tomorrow is solid rain all day) which is going to be a mix of weather so not sure if it'll work out. Of course, next Monday looks like good weather but they are closed on Mondays. So, not sure if I'll get out there or not over the next wk or so.

Instead I am going to scrap, sort thru clothes for charity, maybe bake some peanut butter cookies later and will get groceries at some point today. Later we'll binge a few more episodes of Dexter. We are both enjoying it.

I need to get out with the dogs so have to cut this short. Have a good day everyone.

@scrap-genie Thanks - I'm fine now. Weird how the side effects of the vaccine shots turned out differently all three times. And this time was the first time I got fever. Not much, but enough to keep me in the sofa.

Today, I've been playing catch up with my chores. Sometimes I feel like I do nothing special at home. But GEEEEE do I notice I haven't done them if I'm sick. A couple of days, and the laundry and dishes multiply by 100 every day. Cleaned in the kitchen today, plus 2 loads of laundry (need to make at least one more, but have to wait, I've run out of space to hang laundry), made dinner & John's meat balls for Christmas. Tomorrow, I'll be doing our cheat balls, some more cleaning & the last of the grocery shopping before Christmas. Then I'll have the entire Thursday to do all the last things. (Remember, we celebrate Christmas on the 24th.)

After that: I plan to EAT Dec 24th to 27th ... LOL
Might do some scrapping, knitting and watching TV as well.

For me - Christmas is all about eating. LOL

@faerywings I sure hope that your day is better today than the last two. Shaun has awful allergies...he sneezes and his eyes water and his nose runs. And he doesn't test positive (significantly) to anything. Apparently about 10% of the population is like that. So no shots to try to boost his resistance. Zyrtec and Flonase help but there are days when he is just miserable. It was awful during the height of Covid because everyone looked at him like he was definitely a spreader.

@mom2triplets04 I will tell you that living with dogs just isn't easy. It is 110% worth it. But it isn't easy. They shed and the house smells like dog and they constantly need groomed and...well, I could go on. Oh, and don't get me started about what we will do with them if we take a trip to Europe---actually thinking about paying my niece to come down and watch them since she works from home. But I couldn't live without them. They are the most loving and it breaks my heart to think of someday not having them so here we are...

@bcgal00 sounds like it was a good day at the dog park. And the lazy day sounds so completely perfect. All gifts are wrapped here...except for the two laptops and Shaun's gift that hasn't arrived yet. Oh well...not stressing for now. (Don't expect that for the rest of the week however. ;) )

@Cherylndesigns dinner at an Italian restaurant...sounds lovely. Italian, Mexican and Chinese are my go to's leading up to Christmas and shortly thereafter. They are very different than what we normally eat at Christmas so I like the variety.

@Susan - s3js I didn't realize that you lived near the tornadoes. The destruction was massive and so widespread. Cooking together and eating and playing board games sounds just about perfect!

@BrightEyes glad that you got plenty of books to keep you going and really glad that you don't have to deal with anymore of the paperwork!

Ok...now I'm really posting this!

LOL...I did all of the work to write this post and then realized just now that I didn't post it. That's ok...a few of you have slipped in and I'll catch up before I post.

@scrap-genie I agree...love the fact that we are now going to start having more sunshine! In the winter, our days don't get quite as short as they did up north but in the summer, daylight doesn't start as early. I really miss that.

@LSlycord I don't mind the hair of a dog. It's the biting that is not stopping. She nips and her teeth are sharp. We have tried many things turn when they jump well then she gets you from behind. We now have to get away. I now go into my laundry room or the bathroom. I am even going into her pen just to get away from her biting. When she bites me I wind up with bruises. Yet when she bites my husband he gets nothing. I even started to take vitamins because I looked up buising and it maybe that I'm lacking some vitamins. Anyway, I have a shih tzu too and she's like an angel compared to my husky. The husky I hope will calm down as she's only 8 months now. After Christmas I plan to get her into puppy play day because she is now fixed so she can go. She needs to play with other puppies, my shih tzu is 10 years old and is deathly afraid of her. So we have to keep them separated.
