Hello, hello!! How are you all today? I am already exhausted. Been up since 3.30. Something woke me and I couldn't relax enough to get back to sleep. I tried two different guided meditations and my brain would not stop. Cait woke up at the same time, so she was wondering if maybe there was a noise. The guys slept through it naturally. *wink*

So it's going to be an "interesting" day ahead. Look, Kay-- twinsies!

This was *not* the result I was expecting from the surgeon.
When I told him that is was still hurting and showed him where, he immediately was concerned about the tendons. I knew that my Achilles was stiff bit there is also one that runs along the side of the foot that hurts a lot when he pressed it. My arches are "pancakes," his medically technical term. hah. After the surgery and trying to stabilize the ankle, the tendons are most likely inflamed and possibly micro-tearing which untreated, can lead to ruptures. *That* sounds like fun.
So I am in the boot for 6 weeks. And what better time to wear this darn thing then 2 weeks before Christmas? :noidea: Honestly- I can think of a worse time and that would be if my mom and I had a trip planned for down the shore. But the time period when I am trying to clean/shop/bake for the holidays... that is a close second.
Since I wasn't expecting this, I had worn my Converse sneakers and clomping around the stores off-balance sure was interesting, especially trying to back up with my shopping cart in tight aisles filled with people and their carts.

I have no idea whatsoever what I bought yesterday. After I get home from food shopping, I am going to lock myself in the bedroom, drag everything that I have been shoving under my bed and get that sorted. I will have Gary go up in the attic and get wrapping paper and bags down so I can start wrapping things before I shove them back under the bed. I can't put anything under the tree just yet. My dogs think that all boxes that are gift-wrapped belong to them.
Will I have time to scrap today? I sure as heck hope so.

Hope that all of you have a fab day!! Send sanity my way if ya have any extra

Kay- I am so sorry to hear that you are not going to the lunch today. But good thinking to listen to your body and know that you need to keep the foot up. Do you have to wear your boot all of the time? I have to keep mine on except for driving and sleeping. Darn thing is heavy!
How exciting that SIL was able to get your computer and hopefully he will have it back to you quickly. I can totally imagine you hobbling around to get situated with the laptop. :p I sympathize.

Trudy- yikes, that must have been terrifying to "wake" up like that. Horrible :( Thankfully, you were able to get back to sleep after that.
Must be hard to see your brother so thin and tired. How old is his dog? Ray just turned 14 and despite being deaf and lumpy, she is in good health otherwise. She stinks too-- her breath is BAD! I would worry so much about my pets so I understand where he is coming from.
Congrats on finishing the calendars!! Wooo hoooo!!!! TY for liking the mason jars, they really look so much better IRL. I will be seeing my parents again on Thursday- will be sure to tell them that you are asking for them.

Rae- you had a really lovely day with Jen and B-- that makes me so happy to hear. The tree must look so pretty- cannot wait to see pics of it all.

Nancy- the rain was miserable yesterday and today it is so foggy I can't see through the woods. But it will be warm for a bit. It could be ice and snow so i am ok with rain and fog. LOL
Oh my-- that is sad that Luther gets conked out from his meds. Sad and silly at the same time. Wonder if I can gets some on black market for J... Hmmmm. JK!!!!
Semesters are flying by. Jan will be last semester for both kids-- SMH...
NJDMV.. patoooey pfft:yell:

Felis- how sweet of you to cook for the family! It sounds delicious. Must have been a really nice time to be with the family even if the decorating didn't go as planned.
I hate the commercialization of Christmas. I like the family time and the food/cookies and giving.
ITA with you about Rae's family making your heart sing- mine too!

Hahah!! I am so glad that you liked the description of the book and character! I hope that it gets translated to your language, I think you will get a kick out of reading it. I am not giving anything away because it is written on the book jacket-- but she has a Theory that the Animals are killing the people. Conspiring to get back at the hunters. I love it! haha!

I should get going since it is going to take me longer to do just about everything today. xoxoxo!!

Oh, no...Chris!!! So sorry to hear about and see your boot! Pits that the tendons could be tearing. Sorry that has been happening. I am lucky... my boot only comes up to the ankle. Was going to take a photo of it and show you mine but forgot that I am on the laptop with no slot for the SD chip and no scrapping software to make it small enough to show it here. I took the photos with my Cannon not my cell phone. BTW, I lived in a boot just like that for over 4 months when I lived in Corpus Christi due to problems with my foot there. I still have it stored in the closet... just in case.

No, don't have my computer back yet. Turns out mine is a 2T and DH's is only a 1T computer. Son-in-law may end up putting the hard drive from mine into DH's. So will be another few days before I have it back. Discovered that the laptop has to be in the kitchen or living room to get good wireless connection. I was using it on my lap while sitting in the recliner in the family room and got very slow connection there. Guess the halfwall between kitchen and FR was enough to interfere with the reception. Had the same problem in my craft room where I usually have my desktop computer... so DH ended up running a wire through the hallway so I could get fast internet.

Woke up this morning with the foot feeling okay - I had taken my OTC pain meds before sleeping. But discovered that after having the foot down for only a few minutes, the aching starts up again. So keeping it elevated is a must for right now. I have the boot on from the time I wake up until I get in bed at night. Take it off for showering but that is about it.

Trudy, what a scary dream... they sure do get the whole body shaking when they are that horrible!

Gotta put the foot back up as it aching. CYL

Good morning, ladies. I have high hopes for today being productive....maybe lol. I am going to work like crazy this morning and take Taz out for a walk, then this afternoon maybe I can take a break and scrap a page (didn't get to do any yesterday, too much desk work). Then....I want to be able to finish up work early enough to hang out with D tonight. I've been in my office a lot lately so we haven't spent much time together. I want to start looking thru my recipes and figure out what I'm going to bake for Xmas.

Chris - sorry you have to wear the boot but glad that the issue is being addressed so you don't cause more damage to your foot. Your family will take good care of you.

BTW....here is my tree. I can't believe B actually helped right til the end, but I did organize things well so as soon as she came over, we started. Plus, we took lots of breaks and took fun pics of each other. The tree is in the corner of the LR where my computer table/desktop all in one computer usually is. My home isn't an open floor plan so even tho there is about 2100 SQ FT, the rooms are small. But...we manage to tuck the tree into that corner.

Hope you all have a great day. I'm getting to work now.

Good late morning O-zies!! I have been on Facetime call with Heather and Hunter! He is such a cutie and we played in his room for a long time while his Mommy got his lunch ready. Singing Christmas songs and doing ring around the rosey! So fun!! He is now having a nap and hopefully Heather can get a few things done while he does! I will be busy with picking up the calendar for our son today and getting Heathers printed today at some point. Then I need to get everything out in the mail for DS and his family! So a busy day for me again. I did manage to get most of the housework done yesterday.

Chris - OMG!! That must have been a surprise to have to put the lovely boot on your poor foot!! No wonder it was bothering you, good for you for getting to the doctor about it! Hope that you are able to get a few things done today, but do take care of yourself first!!

Kay - You are in a boot too?? I guess you and Chris really are twinsies!! LOL. Hope that you are able to get your computer back soon!! You must be going through scrapping withdrawal!! Take care of your foot too!!

Rae - Your tree is simply beautiful!! Love the colours and you are an expert with the ribbon! I found it more difficult to do on my smaller skinny tree, but I think I need to make the pieces shorter and then it will look better! Hope you get through your work day quickly and have time to scrap today! I am hoping to do the same, but somehow something always keeps me from it!

Ok ladies I need to hit the shower and get to the printers to pick up DS's calendar. Hope it turned out good! Have a great day everyone!

It started to feel like winter again today but no white stuff was back yet. We met a friend to see where she works now and had lunch. I'm procrastinating on all the holiday stuff I need to do, but we did bring the poinsettia down from the "tree house" into the dining room where it will spend the winter. The red leaves are now getting the little yellow flowers in the centers. It is such an incredible plant.

Chris, oh no! I know you weren't expecting the boot or we would have known. What a great challenge for the holidays. Like you need another one. At least you can take it off to drive and sleep. Since it seemed like we all got colds together this fall, I sure hope Kay's and your boots aren't a sign to the rest of us to watch out. Wishing you and that tendon a speedy recovery!

Kay, I don't envy you without the regular computer and its programs and files. Also a bummer that you don't have good reception where you can be comfy. Guess it was for the best not to go out today.

Rae, wonderful tree and such a great story with B there to decorate. Think it's nice you'll be spending the evening with D. Pretty soon you'll be on a holiday break from work? That will be nice.

Trudy, that Hunter is such a dear. I know he's young, but he will have such wonderful memories even so of time spent with his grandmother. It must make him feel very well loved. Glad you got the calendars done and are getting them printed and mailed. They are so special.

Nancy, I'm really enjoying the pages for your Dec. project. You have such a lot of super photos of the birds but I also like seeing you and the guys in there. What wonderful memories!

Felis, what a sweetie you were to volunteer to make dinner (even if it was with sauce your sister made). Did the warm weather continue? About the Civil War diary, it was the real thing. It, like so many others, is a small book called a pocket diary (about 3" x 5" I think). This one was printed with a page for each day in 1862. The man was from this area and was a sergeant in the Union (north) cavalry. He became ill and spent a few months in the hospital before being discharged. I learned that he must have recovered as he enlisted in the infantry later in the war. He had a wife and small children in 1862 and was missing them. I also learned that he lived a full life afterwards. I'm sure you can imagine that these things make me feel so connected to another time if only by a slender thread.
