new day, new insanity(ies)
hah!!
Guess what I did for most of the day yesterday? Yes, I fought with my computer, you are right but more specifically... any ideas?
I had to delete over 90,000 files. When I downloaded the ACDSee alternative, it imported all of the files as unfoldered duplicates. I had one more trick up my sleeve with ACDSee and wanted to give that a shot. I couldn't figure out why the top of the Folder Tree wouldn't load when everything else was running fine (*knocking on wood it stays that way*) I opened the drive up with File Explorer and say alllllllllllll of the scrap files and photos and LOs- just sitting there. I randomly double-checked that the files were still located in the original folders before deleting them but I could only do them in batches of a few hundred at a time or File Explorer would stop responding. I would love to ask what next but I know much better than to say that out loud. LOL

I had to go outside to clear my head for a while but while that helped, it bummed me out. This time of year always makes me a bit sad- summer being over but not ready for full-on Halloween- and this year is worse than usual because there is no way of coaxing an extra week of blooms out of the plants.
It *might* rain tonight and I really hope it does! Scott said that he was asked by a lot of people on one of the trails at work how to get to the waterfall. He felt bad telling them that the waterfall is dried up.

So what is on my list today... I have end of the month CheeryO stuff to work on. If ACDSee is working (you will hear me yell if it isn't no matter how far you live) I will be scrapping. I also need to finish my food order and figure out what I am cooking for the next week of dinners.

Love and hugs!

Good morning! I cannot believe how much trouble you have had with that stupid software @faerywings. Honestly that stuff drives me crazy...both at home and at work.

I worked extra hours yesterday to get a few things done so I can take my time getting in there (in there being to my home office) today.

Sydney and I FaceTimed yesterday. She can't go to a class (it's a weekly class and today is the first class) unless she has safety goggles. I ordered them on Amazon Prime and they were to be delivered yesterday. I checked and they were dropped off at the loading dock at 9:42 but they still weren't over at her dorm at 3:30. I told her to go to the campus book store and buy them before class this morning. Well, they were over $20 at the campus bookstore. She had found them on Amazon for under $2. I told her if she has to have them, she has to have them. Then I muttered to myself about why we have to forgive all of these student loans...
She was in a 4:00 class and got an email that they were in the mailbox at the dorm. Crisis averted. She texted me immediately.

I'll stop back for personals in a minute. Everyone have a great day!

@vickyday I think I know what a bush hog is-- it has been used in a lot of detective TV shows/movies as a murder device :D
I had easy labors, but not easy deliveries with my two. I was 9cm when I got to the hospital with Scott but the stubborn kid didn't want to come out- I pushed for 4 long hours with no meds at all. Ouch. He was 7 pounds and change
It must have been nice on the bike until you stopped and lost the wind. Do you wear leather?

@LSlycord I will hold off using the S-word for as long as I can. Am I allowed to use it on my checks though, not sure if the bank will appreciate me writing August 260, 2022 *winks*
You got this, 4 more days of work.
I saw that too, about the TSs in the Atlantic, hope that you have everything you need prepared, just in case

@BrightEyes Enjoy watching the hot air balloons.
That will be something fab to look forward to when your sister comes to town for the Festival. Bet you breathed a bit easier when you heard DD#3 was home safe and sound, you never stop worrying, I guess
I had to rake leaves on one area of the lawn so I could find dog poop and it needs to be done again and I just CAN'T!
Not yet... *cries*

@Cherylndesigns When ACDSee runs well, I couldn't be happier. But when it acts up, it is too frustrating. I know a lot of people use Lightroom in a similar way but it is on that darn subscription program with the rest of PS.
ROTFLMAO about Chuck being happy he can't hear all that well. We are loud and kooky too- even just the 4 of us cause way too much commotion. Playing the mining game the other night-- we started chanting "Din-no-SAUR" every time someone needed to pick a Fate card, the dinosaur Discovery was a good card to get :D
I wanna see your herbs!!!

@taxed4ever I saw the photo of the wine and ocean on FB!! Heaven!!! Did you get a lot of good pics?
I also hope you got the broken wineglass replaced, was it one of a kind?

@bcgal00 I woke up this morning and realized you hadn't even popped in to wave hello and I got very worried. Please take good care of yourself, you sound like you got slammed. :(
I remember reading about "breathing exercises" post-Covid-- coughing or deep breathing, something like that to get the lungs expanding better. Maybe once you are feeling stronger, that could be something to do. Lots of good thoughts to you and J and to D as well that he doesn't get it.

Kay- that is so exciting about finding the new info on your grandfather's name!!

What a rip-off! College bookstores are the worst!
So glad that she was able to get the glasses in time for class!

@BrightEyes have you still not heard from the doctor? Or did I miss it? So excited that your sister will be visiting soon...and that you have found all of this new information about your family tree. It will be great for the two of you to make copies of what you have and share. And I envy you your balloon festival...we had one in the next town over when I was in Iowa. Balloonists came from all over. It was so much fun and I miss it!

@taxed4ever I saw your FB photo of the kayaking trip. What an active life you lead...I need to take an example from you!

@vickyday I didn't get very many layouts done at all this month...maybe I need to stop chatting so much and start scrapping more! Glad that you got yours finished early so that you had time to stop and visit.

@bcgal00 I am so sorry that you are now dealing with not being able to breathe well but glad that the awful headache is gone! Can't believe that DH was lucky enough to stay Covid free.

@Cherylndesigns glad that you had fun even if you missed out on Game Night. I'm so jealous of your loud evenings together. It is very quiet at our house. I cannot wait to get back to Iowa with a crowd of people and babies all making noise!

It WAS nice on the bike while we were moving! Sometimes we wear our leathers. Usually when the weather really starts cooling off. I need to get a bigger jacket since I've gained 30 lbs since buying my jacket when we first got married 4 years ago! :(

Good morning, all!
Not a lot of news. Just got back from getting the car inspection done so I can send my property taxes and get my new sticker for the next year. Getting ready to leave in a few minutes to pick up DH and go to lunch.
I called the grave site people yesterday. I bought my crypt at the same time I bought my late husband's. I needed to let them know my name was changed since I got married again. All she had to do was change the name in her computer system. She said as long as I had the deed to the crypts that's all I needed in the event I pass away. Sorry. Weird topic, I know, LOL! I was surprised I didn't have to sign some papers or something. Anyway.....

@faerywings rain is in our forecast for later today, too. Hoping you get some! We don't really need any on our spot of land! It amazes me how spotty rain is sometimes when your neighbors a few miles away can get a good shower yet you get nothing!

@bcgal00 so sorry you are having a rough time of it! When DH had covid a couple of years ago, I didn't get it. This time when I had it, he didn't get it. Hope your DH doesn't get it! Praying you feel better soon!

@LSlycord after being sick for 3 weeks, when I started feeling better, I kicked butt on the layouts this month, lol! It may adversely affect what I get done in September, however! I've still got to finish my pages for my Ark Encounter and Creation Museum pages, so maybe I will get back to that. I need to since I am almost done!

Time to leave to pick up DH for lunch. Have a great day!

Morning OOZIES,

The sun is shining here and the temps took a nice downturn yesterday. I think the blasted heat is gone. Chris @faerywings I can't imagine the ACDSEE blankety blankety blank you've been in! What a mess these things can be. Like I said, I've never used that program before. Yes, I'm certain that Chuck has "selective hearing" I'm not even sure he wore his hearing aids Sunday. Hahaha I told you that Roger can't hear very well either - they're a good pair. Well, I took a picture of my herb jars just for you. I started out putting more herbs in my tea mix, but after trial and error, I've whittled it down to just 4. I need more Lavender - I didn't harvest much so I'll have to get more from Amazon. The amount of Lavender (that I get from Amazon) is a lot smaller than the other herbs, so it doesn't go as far. My jars are - left to right: Valerian Root, Camomile, Passion Flower and Lavender. The last two jars are my finished tea mix, and the small jar is about 2 week's worth of tea bags. I mix equal amounts of each and put them in my "tea mix jar".

Your family must be so much like ours - we're very loud. Whenever anybody new joins us, we warn them. Everybody talks at once and when we play a game, it's for real! Linda @LSlycord I know you can't wait to get back home and join in on the noisy again.

I'm going to say adios and hugs to all. Have a good Tueaday.

Morning ladies... another day of heat warnings and full on sunshine! I won't complain, because the rains will come eventually and then it won't stop! I had such a lovely day yesterday with SIL and a couple of her friends kayaking and then a great lunch at the Marina! It was just Linda and I for lunch as the other ladies had plans do something together. We did see a couple of seals while we were out on the water and lots and lots of starfish along the rocky shoreline. My core muscles are a bit sore today, so I guess I got in a good workout LOL. I did not get home until after 3pm and so the day was pretty much gone and I had to get something for supper for my Gary. We both were in bed before 9:30 and I slept like a log!! Today will be busy with Month End things here at the O and a few errands to run around town. Of course there were a few groceries that I was unable to get over the weekend so I will try again today to get those. I have been busy working on a Junk journal and having lots of fun with that I will post a few photos when I am finished. I need to get a birthday card done for my brother before Friday. We have been invited to go there for his birthday supper on Friday night, it should be a good time! Oh I did not get the wine glass replaced, seems everything in Chemainus is closed on Mondays!!! Darn!!

@faerywings - Oh my gosh I think I would have packed it all in with ACDsee if I were you!!! There must be something else out there that you can use?? I really did not want to use Bridge when I first tried it, but now I don't think I could ever go back to my old way of keeping my scrapping supplies. I use to just keep them in folders on my HD with the name of the designer and a pic of what the kit was on the front of the folder. It took me forever to find what I needed or wanted. I have an older version of PS and soon my operating system won't be able to support PS anymore or Bridge. I don't know what I will do when that happens, but for now everything is working very well. (Knocks on Wood!!). Yes it is sad to see summer ending, especially when it took so long for us here on the West Coast to even get summer!! Enjoy each warm day, soon it will be cooler and the days so much shorter, UGH!! I did not take my camera with me on the kayak, I was too afraid that I would get it wet, but one of the other ladies had her camera so I am hoping to get a few photos from her! How sad that Scott had to tell people that the waterfall was dried up! I hope you get some much needed rain today!

@LSlycord - I bet you can hardly wait to be done with this job!! That is terrible that the Campus book store would charge so much when you can get the same item on Amazon Prime for a fraction of the cost!! What a rip-off!! No wonder students have such huge loans to pay off!! I did have such a great time with kayaking yesterday and wish that I could get out more often! Once you are retired, you will find so much more time to get out there and discover new and exciting things to occupy your time!

@bcgal00 - So sorry to hear that you are so very sick with Covid!! DH was lucky and did not get the shortness of breath etc. Isn't it strange how your DH did not get it! I still can't believe I did not get sick, so very strange #dk . Sending you lots of healing thoughts and gentle hugs!! Take care of you!!!

@BrightEyes - How fun to have all this information happen with your family tree!! I know you and your sister will have so much to talk about when she comes to visit! Enjoy the Hot Air Balloons, they must be such a thrill to see!

@Cherylndesigns - Looks like you have been very busy drying herbs etc! Love the different coloured jar lids and your labels too!

@vickyday - Sure wish I could pump out the layouts like you do!! I need a good kick start for September, please send me some of your mojo!!

Ok I am in need of more caffeine, so off to the coffee pot and then I better get to work here! Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Trudy @taxed4ever I'm so happy that you had a wonderful day, yesterday! That must have been so beautiful and like you said, the rains will come. They will here, too. Aren't those lids cute? The jars are regular Ball jars and I found the plastic, colored lids on Amazon. They have the regular size and the wide mouth size. I got tired of messing with those rings and lids. If you want to can with the plastic lids, there's an insert that goes inside to make them airtight for caning. I love those black labels and the chalkboard ink, too.

Morning all. WOW, can't believe that I slept in until 9AM!!! And I feel asleep around 10PM... guess the body is taking the rest time it needs. Didn't get to open the house this morning as it is already in the mid-70's and heading up into the 90's. Yes - a major heat wave will be here for the rest of this week and maybe into next week.

@faerywings so sorry you are still struggling with ACDC! Yikes that is a lot of files to have to delete!!!! I feel your pain and frustration.

@LSlycord What a rip off at the college store for those glasses!! So glad that the ones from Amazon arrived!

Haven't heard from the doctor - but saw the lab results and most were in the normal range. Thyroid was right in the middle of the range - so guess that isn't the problem. Think she will wait until our next visit and re-do the blood work to see if anything has changed. In the meantime, I will rest as needed and dress as the body needs.

Both Sister and I have been excited over the papers/photos we have re-discovered. We have been calling back and forth with each new discovery! :D The latest one was she discovered that she had our grandmother's (mom's mother) birth certificate!!! She scanned it and sent it to me. It was very dark but I was able to use PSE to lighten it up so it is very readable now. Made her a copy of it and it is in the envelope I will be mailing to her today.

@vickyday - We had the same response from our hometown cemetery - they changed the name on grave plots info with just a phone call. DH's family had bought 3 plots when his older brother had died in 1940. They came to us when his parents died elsewhere. The disaster came when they opened the plot for my DH's burial.... there was already caskets in both plots with no ID or information on them. Apparently there were a lot of burials during World War II into wherever there were empty spots in that section of the cemetery. I let my Son#1 deal with the cemetery on getting us 2 plots in the new section. Yes, they did it free as it was the fault of the cemetery.

@Cherylndesigns Those jars are so cute and so very practical!! Love the labels! ?? about the tea bags... do you make your own out of paper??? I have several metal tealeaf holders for my loose tea leaves. Hope the heatwave doesn't get too bad in your area.

@taxed4ever Sounds like you had a wonderful day kayaking yesterday. Hope your friend did get a few photos of you and the event so you have them for your memory album.

Time to get moving and get my errands run.

Thanks so much, Kay! I love playing with my herbs. LOL I buy the little teabags on Amazon - they come in packages of different amounts, but we get the packs of 200. They're all ready to fill with loose tea - and even have drawstrings in the top. I have the metal loose tea holders, too, but these are so much easier to use. I just drop the bag in my cup of hot water. I have a lot of mint that I've dried, too, and plan on filling some of the teabags with mint.

So, I finally got in touch with our insurance company to see if my ring is covered. Back in 1997, Michael paid 650 or so for it. Our jewelry rider is for 1500 per item, so I got excited. Then she dropped the boom: it's subject to our deductible for our house insurance, which is 1% of the total value of the policy. SOOOOO, to replace my 650.00 ring through insurance will cost us over 3000 dollars. GAH.

We had already decided to go with a lab grown diamond. I don't plan on selling my ring any time soon and it will go with me when I go...so... why bother paying HUGE amounts for a natural diamond when I can get a really good one with better specs for 700 dollars! They look identical and the specs are identical, just cheaper because they're not "ground" grown over millions of years. I don't care.

Now to find a stone and find a jeweler who will fix my ring setting and place the diamond in the ring. Our vow renewal is October 2, so it's gotta get done in the next few weeks. Where the money is coming from, I have no idea. Hopefully the jeweler we pick has a payment plan!

@BrightEyes I'm so sorry you haven't heard from the doctor yet, and I guess it's good in a way that all your numbers are normal on the blood tests, but irritating because they don't help you figure out what's going on.
