Why is it soooo cold???
:bawling:
I don't like it. Nope, nope, nope. I want to put up my hummingbird feeder soon but no point when it is this cold. Next week should be better. (Should be= key words)
Did you all have a good Monday? It took me forever to finish the grocery order and I only gave myself three heart attacks when I checked out. Coulda been worse. I think that 4th heart attack mighta done me in. :thud:
ShopRite has been slowly raising prices for months. They take an item at its regular price, put it on sale at that price for a month, and then voila! It's not on sale anymore. It's like they give you time to acclimate, like walking into cold water very slowly. I know you all know what I mean.
That took most of my morning and then I scrapped a page in the afternoon. dance4 It's for Cheyl's AJ challenge and I can't wait to post it.

I am getting my bangs trimmed this morning. They do bangs for $5-$10, which gives me a little more time until I have to get it cut/colored before the family celebrations in May and June.
Oh, yeah-- I cleaned up some of the papers on my desk and saw that my vision insurance renews in June. However, I can't go back for an exam/new Rx until the middle of July. The one (and only) good thing about being stuck at home is that I have been wearing my glasses, not my contacts, so I *think* I can squeeze out these boxes to July without damaging my corneas. :praying2:

Gotta let the dogs out!

I know exactly what you mean about the grocery prices! Unfortunately, I don't think it will get any better! People gotta eat, so people gonna buy, no matter what the cost!
I'm itching to get my hair cut! But I also like being able to pull it all back in a ponytail, too! Decisions.....decisions!

Quick in and out again today.
Off to the widows' meeting for me. Ilene is the only one going with me today. Ruth has been under the weather and not sure why Louise isn't going. On the way back I will be dropping Ilene off to her son's. She is going to spend a couple of days with him.
As far as scrapping goes.....I've been working on my Monthly Review pages from last year. I had to redo October's because I lost it before I could get it printed when my EHD crashed. I have November partly done. I still need to do a set of pages for our Thanksgiving gathering at my daughter's up north. I've also been trying to catch up on my ATCs.
The weather is much cooler today after the all-day rain we had yesterday! We sure needed that rain!
HAGD!

It was on the news here in Sweden the other day about the price of eggs in the US. But I never understood how expensive eggs where. In Sweden, depending on how many eggs there are in the packs, you can get 1 egg for 3-4 Swedish Krona. That'll be about 30-40 cents for an egg. How much is it in the US?

:brrr: It is chilly out there but sunny, so that's helpful.

WOW! You are late in here today! Did you sleep long and hard after your day yesterday with Weis? Sounds exactly like you said.....interesting yet boring! Glad your foot didn't hurt after standing for 2 hours!
Not necessarily sleeping much later but feeling lazier not having to roll out of bed and a million things I need to do. I am going to miss that part of my home confinement.
I usually play twice a week. It is addicting. I would play more often if I could. I encourage everyone to try it. You never know until you try.
Where do you play? I'd have to find a game I could play incognito. :hiding2: I am a klutz, sure, but I also have the worst hand-eye coordination and know I would embarrass myself :lol23:
You should see me play video games with the family. We play Mario Kart and everyone will be finished for hours. Meanwhile, I am still puttering around the track, crashing into every obstacle while they laugh at me.

Morning everyone and Happy Monday! It is a grey drizzly kind of day here. No outside yard work for me today. That's ok I did so much over the past couple of days that my back and legs could sure use the break! The weeds never stop do they?! :waving3:
They do not. If it weren't for weeds, I wouldn't have a "lawn." Did you and your Gary find some new boots for him? I hope the weather is good for the hike tomorrow.

It was quite a weekend. Saturday traveling to DC - we drove 2 hours to a western suburb and took the metro into the mall. Lots and lots of people and signs. Then we took the metro a few stops further to meet my nephew and his girlfriend for an early dinner. Back on the metro to the car, then drive home. I had to drive 16 miles on I66 before we get to the state highway that heads to Charlottesville, and I didn't feel like dealing with the traffic so I took the express lanes. I don't drive in DC much so I don't quite comprehend the whole express lane pricing, which changes. Not to mention you get about 1/10 of a second to look at it as you drive at 65 mph past the signs. I looked at my EZ Pass account this morning and my laziness cost me $35. But then, I figured nephew paid for dinner so we're still ahead. :D
I don't blame you for taking the express lanes, well worth the EZ charge, IMHO. Why is that cost higher? I am thinking how the Garden State Parkway is the same $ whether you take the local or express lanes, so I guess it feels odd that it would cost more.

My daughter (who claims 5' but I'm sure is stretching that last inch) has such a hard time finding cars she can drive. Whenever they need a new one they have to visit so many dealers to get one that will fit the kids plus stuff, and yet she can still reach the pedals.
I feel her pain! I was 4'11 3/4 and I know I am shorter than that now. I drive an old CRV which is perfect. DD has an Equinox, and I love the features in it but I feel like I am sitting way too low. DS has a 4Runner and that thing is a boat! He had me drive it when he lived here, so I would get used to it. Took it out (with him) a couple of times and nope. Toooo big!
I don't know how so many places that are vital to the welfare of a large number of our brothers & sisters are going to manage.
I know :(
Weis is a non-profit but doesn't get any Federal funding. Which is bad-- and good at the same time. Good that it isn't anything we relied on, bad that it is tough to get donations. Especially right now.
One of the priorities for the upcoming year is community building. That is going to be very important. if you have any suggestions or things that you do with your trail conference, I would love to hear about them.
@tiffany scraps I haven't tricked pickle ball either. From the sounds of it, they may be a rush on the ER if Chris, Trudy and I all try it as we all admit to being klutzes :giggle4: :giggle4: but we (me for sure) would provide entertainment while trying.
Good thing that we don't live in the same area! The ERs can handle it if we all went in separately, not possible if we played together.

Not much happening here today. Its Monday so I will be doing laundry and cleaning house. Might try a light workout but nothing too strenuous. Its currently raining but suppose to snow later. Off to get more coffee. HAGD
I hope that you did everything you needed to and felt amazing afterward!!

This YEAR goes by quickly. I cannot believe we're in April already. We had our anniversary yesterday (35 years together, married for 31) ... I mean, talking about time rushing by. But, boy do I love my man!
:woohoo: Congrats, you two lovebirds! :woohoo:

I am sorry that everything is yucky. I'm glad that reading is providing an escape = at least for a little while. Whatever you do, do NOT read Station Eleven. I was in the mood for something dark and dystopian and that popped up as a recommendation. It was a very good book but "too soon." The world collapses after a SARS pandemic. So think COVID crossed with The Walking Dead but no zombies. Wait a few years (decades) before you attempt that one. :giggle4:

Morning, all. It felt so different not having DD#1 here. It is amazing how quickly having her here seemed "normal" and not having her here this morning... seemed so different. But she did call me this morning for a quick chat. :D All the family members are back to their homes safe and sound... even if they had to deal with traveling in bad weather. DD#2's son stayed on with her for a few more days. So glad he decided to do that. Hopefully things will settle back into a more normal routine for all the family.
Everything must feel so weird. There was so much emotional upheaval in your life. Here's to finding some stability, whatever that means. :drinks2:
Your weather is crazy!
Went out for a brisk walk this morning 37 degrees. Made two laps at the park before I called it and went home to switch out laundry. Monday is laundry day.... has been for as long as I can remember.
37* was pretty much where it landed here, today is going to be chillier. I am so ready for summer.

You all crack me up about Monday being Laundry Day. I do laundry every few days or whenever we run out of clothes, or when the mood hits, or when Cait/Tom or Scott don't need the washer. Very much hit or miss. LOL!

:grouphugyay:

I am the Queen Of (Lost) Bobby Pins. I usually have three of them in my hair, to keep the bangs out of my way when I don't want them down.
When I leave my hair curly, I lose at least 1-2 of them in the mess.

My store has regular eggs for $8/dozen so that's $.67 each
If you want cage-free -- its more

I've been meaning to catch up on all those classics I've never read - but ... I think I'll skip 1984 for a while & re-read Pride & Prejudice instead. LOL

I'm not in a good place, not even scrapping or knitting is fun. I spend most of my time reading. Drifting off to worlds of romance and happy endings. I can't handle real life right now.
I think you picked a great alternative. None of the fun things are fun when your heart & soul aren't in it. Books have always been my refuge in times like that. You have a family here who will support you and encourage you however we can. Always good for warm hugs and a warm shoulder to rest your head on. :hug3::hug4::hug4::hug2::grouphugyay::grouphugyay::grouphugyay:
Went out for a brisk walk this morning 37 degrees. Made two laps at the park before I called it and went home to switch out laundry. Monday is laundry day.... has been for as long as I can remember.
When I got up this morning it was 15 degrees. UGH! I took a 45 minute virtual bike ride in Australia instead. When I finished I went back upstairs it was 14 degrees. Supposed to be a "high" of 47. dgd has a track meet at 4:30 and dgs has baseball at 5. Monday & Thursday were always laundry day and nothing altered that. I do laundry on Saturday. Since I've been retired every day is Saturday, so sometimes it's Monday-Saturday or any of the other Saturdays & sometimes it's Saturday-Saturday- I do keep an eye on the laundry basket and try to get to it before it erupts like Mt. Vesuvius.
Where do you play? I'd have to find a game I could play incognito. :hiding2: I am a klutz, sure, but I also have the worst hand-eye coordination and know I would embarrass myself :lol23:

Darlin' I'm convinced Olga is watching me when writing her scrapping stories, but you must be watching me thru Alexa, because you just described my athletic prowess to a T. Sprained my ankle in PE playing VB, played racquetball once, sprained my ankle. I don't chew gum because I can't walk and chew gum at the name time. I'm just happy when I can stay upright on my bike for a whole season. The one in the house is easy, it's that outside one. Everyone I know that plays pickleball LOVES it. I played some tennis when I was a kid, but the bug just hasn't bitten me yet, I'm more of a mosquito girl.

Worked on a double page spread yesterday, trying to get 2 challenges taken care of . It's not going anywhere fast. DGS has a baseball game today and DGD has a track meet, we're going to try to hit . both , with a high of 47 predicted today, my quilt will be attending with me, oh, Wendell will be too. I wish my grands would do a Spring sport :floorlaugh::floorlaugh: I'm in front of the fireplace, listening to Jimmy Buffett station on SiriusXM trying for the beach vibe. Nothing else going on today. Time for more coffee and then scrapping. Have a great day everyone . Sending warm :hug4::hug4:to everyone who needs one.

I got a couple pages scrapped yesterday for challenges, but I need to catch up on last week's project life page. I did meander through the gallery some, looking for good ideas; I really need to do that more often. I find there are a lot of fantasy type pages that don't connect with me at all, so I just skip them altogether. I love seeing @vickyday 's monthly review spreads. That's why I do scrapping!

Chilly but sunny today. Just got a freeze warning for tonight. So I told David, aren't you glad you didn't plant last week? I biked into town for a meeting with a potential donor early this morning, and I have to work on writing up a grant application today. We are trying to get a bridge built on one of the trails and the costs just keeping going up. Like eggs and everything else.

If it weren't for weeds, I wouldn't have a "lawn."
Can you believe that a neighboring HOA tried to put in a rule that lawns had to be "97% fescue grass"?! They don't like how weeds look. Who's going to go around counting grass blades compared to weeds? The only way to get that kind of result is with lots of chemicals. I had a professor in theology school who extolled the beauty of dandelions in a lawn - I'm on his side.

I am thinking how the Garden State Parkway is the same $ whether you take the local or express lanes, so I guess it feels odd that it would cost more.
It is weird, as my toll experience was also the GSP. I used to drive from I78 to the Outerbridge every day. I think the difference is that the toll lanes around DC were built with private funds and they expect to earn a profit on them.

One of the priorities for the upcoming year is community building.
So hard! It was hard before covid and it's gotten harder since. The trails are very popular, and people like to help out, but time is short on everyone's calendar. I try to develop tasks that people can do without much commitment, e.g., we need someone to cut back briars on a specific section, or we have a pile of lumber that can be carried down one board at a time this weekend. I've been much less successful in trying to attract people to work together or socialize together at a specific time & place. But we keep trying.

I think I'll skip 1984 for a while & re-read Pride & Prejudice instead.
I keep hearing echoes of 1984 on the news and it creeps me out. I can't remember how it ended, though.

I do keep an eye on the laundry basket and try to get to it before it erupts like Mt. Vesuvius.
I do that, too. So it's at a reasonable level, 2 or 3 loads, and I tell David I'm doing laundry today. Then *kapow* suddenly the hamper is overflowing! I don't know why he keeps half of his clothes in the "I can wear it one more time if I have to" category until the laundry announcement.

Good Morning ladies! Another rainy day here. DH and I did not look for his boots yesterday, so we will go do that today. Instead we looked for a shelving unit for my craft room closet. Hooray!!! One item off of the Honey do list for him! I love it, its got nine cubby holes for storing and the bottom three will have drawers as soon as they arrive in the mail. Of course the store was sold out and none anywhere nearby but that's ok I have the rest all filled with crafty things. It is short enough that I can put things on the top shelf too. I am a very happy crafter!! So today will be the day we look for boots for my Gary. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for our hike tomorrow. It is right in our neighbourhood, so no long drive and its a doable hike for my DH a bit tougher than the last one, but not horribly tough. So instead of scrapping yesterday I helped put together my new storage unit and then spent a long time rearranging my craft room. I made a chef's salad for supper and we watched the second episode of MobLand on Paramount + its really good, kinda dark but really good! We both slept like logs and both got up this morning at 7:15am. What a great sleep, guess my DH is settling into this retirement thing.

:thud:
I have my hummingbird feeder out all winter and just have to remember to bring it in on those really cold nights when it could freeze, but maybe the hummers haven't arrived in your area yet? We are now starting to see the Rufous hummers, I just love them! Yup the price of eggs is terrible, but hey I have been paying $7 a dozen for a few years now. The Farm Market had a one day sale on Farmer Ben's Eggs (local egg farmer). 30 eggs for $9.99 you could only purchase two flats, so I got one for us and one for the In-Laws. I still like free range eggs better they just have better flavour and are free of any kind of hormones etc.
Off to the widows' meeting for me. Ilene is the only one going with me today. Ruth has been under the weather and not sure why Louise isn't going. On the way back I will be dropping Ilene off to her son's. She is going to spend a couple of days with him.
Hope your meeting goes well today, sorry to hear that Ruth is not feeling well, but nice that Ilene will be with her son for a bit! Hope the traffic and weather are nice for your drive!
I think that the reason eggs are so expensive in the states is because they had bird flu and alot of the chickens had to be destroyed, but then the way things are going for us on both sides of the border Canada/USA I doubt very much that things will get any better for quite some time.
When I got up this morning it was 15 degrees. UGH! I took a 45 minute virtual bike ride in Australia instead. When I finished I went back upstairs it was 14 degrees. Is your indoor bike a Peloton?? I would love to have one of those, but now we are getting warmer temps, so it would probably just sit and collect dust until next winter. I am the same with Laundry Day, sometimes its Monday-Friday or whatever. It's whenever the pile starts getting too big. :giggle4:

Ok off to fill our coffee cups again and catch up with some of the bad news going on in the world right now. I can only listen to so much and then I have to leave, its too depressing. FIL has CNN on all day long and listens to the same horrible news 20-30 times a day.

@Terri M - looks like we cross posted. I hope that you have success with your planning for your trail building, we have a large group that does trail building/maintenance in the lake area, but our Municipality has funding to maintain and create new trails around the area where I live. They all do an amazing job!

@AK_Tracy - Yes my Gary is easing into retirement quite nicely! We both had a great sleep and no alarm at 5:30 am he slept in a few minutes longer than I did, so I got the heat turned up and made the coffee this morning. I am not minding him being here 24/7 so far.

I think that the reason eggs are so expensive in the states is because they had bird flu and alot of the chickens had to be destroyed, but then the way things are going for us on both sides of the border Canada/USA I doubt very much that things will get any better for quite some time.
Yes, they said bird flu on the news. And once they've been able raise the prices on things - there's no way they'll lower them again. Basic capitalism.

Good (brrrrr) Morning (brrrrr) Ladies!

Why is it soooo cold???
:bawling:
I don't like it. Nope, nope, nope.
Its 30*F and we have THREE INCHES OF SNOW and its still coming down!!
You all crack me up about Monday being Laundry Day. I do laundry every few days or whenever we run out of clothes, or when the mood hits, or when Cait/Tom or Scott don't need the washer. Very much hit or miss. LOL!
We are very strict on laundry days. There are five of us and everyone has a day of the week. You miss the day, you out of luck. Monday and Friday is my day to do hubs and my laundry. Tues in #3 day, Thurs is #4 days and Saturday is #1 day to do laundry. Sunday and Wednesday the machines get a break or they're for emergency things. Now that #3 is in college he had to swap to Sunday. Keeps everyone on track this way and you learn quick not to forget your laundry day. Once the kids turned 7/8 they learned how to do laundry and I didn't do it for them anymore. Once they hit 12 I didn't remind them anymore either. Its great. Less stress on me.

Its snowing. Its normal. I'm not amused. Woke up to 3". Glad I dont have to do anything today. Will do the AJ layout and make dinner. Otherwise yeah, burring my head in the snow and not gonna look.

Need coffee. HAGD

Talk about not paying attention.... I posted this in YESTERDAY's thread... I love copy and paste!!!

7:50AM
Another quick in and out. Have a few errands to run then brown bag lunch with the girls at noon. Haven't seen the gals for 2 months - so looking forward to the get-together. Today is suppose to get to 75*F and into the 80*s the rest of the week!!! What a wild swing in weather. A trip to the base either tomorrow or Thursday to pick up meds and go to the commissary for groceries. Not sure I am ready for the shock of food prices when I go. Finally got my Rx meds timed at the same time so can get them together and only have to go to the base every 3 months instead of every 6 weeks!!! goofysmile1 Then I will try to get back to scrapping.

One of the nice things about when DD#1 stayed with me is we did more cooking and I have several meals (leftovers) in the freezer... Tonight I will have a breaded porkchop, corn, boiled golden-potatoes and fresh fruit salad. I need to make desserts for the freezer I have finished all the peach cobber I had in the freezer right before she came.

Time to get my shower and dressed. BBL

10:30 AM
I am leaving in just a few minutes.... HAGD

@faerywings I agree food prices are crazy and no end in sight. Restaurants are going up in price too. Glad you did some office cleaning you inspired me and I cleaned my desk then I read you only cleared a few papers....hustle it up there Winged Wonder!!!

@JeanneMN Yikes I have forgotten cold weather and how spring is not always so nice. Laundry is done at my house when I have a load, not much with just the two of us with our small Florida clothes, no jean or sweatshirts. I remember every day laundry when we had the kids.

The alligator is still here in the pond and when I feed the turtles it comes over.... I do not like it being here I think it is making the water birds nervous. I guess we need to call to get it removed.
Yesterday I vacuumed up leaves that get ground up so I add that to my flower gardens to improve the Florida sand! I just got done when our lawn guys came so I's glad I got the leaves cause they would have mowed them up into the lawn. I went to get the jewelry I had repaired so now I can wear my emeralds and diamonds again I'm so happy. Then we went to club for dinner.
This morning started out dreary I got out the vacuum and cleaned up the floors before meeting the girls (13) for lunch. The club picked up the tab for the lunch as a thank you for helping at the club. We went to the new Thai restaurant....my green curry was out of this world delicious. Released more monarchs. I put mulch down so only 2 bags left...that will be tomorrows project. The sun is out now and it is 69* but the sun makes it nice.

@tanteva Happy Anniversary

I see everyone is having trouble scrapping- no time- no mojo so I'm glad it's not just me. I need some inspiration. I was working on 3 pages and didn't save so I lost them all when my computer did a hiccup. I think I will try to get inspired to start again.

Ok all have a great rest of your day.

Hi Everyone, quick check in. Work's been good, my body hurts. Mostly my back. I don't think it's pickleball though. Just moving around pretty slow and using my heating pad all day at work. We had 85 degree temps over the weekend, and it's supposed to freeze tonight. We brought in a bunch of our plants that we had just put outside. Hopefully this will be the last of the cold and the plants can go out and stay out. Our parakeet hasn't been around now since last Thursday evening or Friday morning. We've had some rain, I hope he found somewhere safe and happy to be. Maybe he'll be back.

@BoatLady that's scary having an alligator in your pond! That seems very intimidating both for homeowners and wildlife! I admire your social life - you've always got something going on that sounds so fun! All the monarch releases are pretty cool too.

@tanteva Happy Anniversary! We got married about the same time. Our 31st anniversary is next week.

Add me to the low on mojo/time club! I'm also glad it's not just me!
Off to leave some love and tend to my challenge thread, may or may not get any scrapping done! Have a good evening everyone~
