Good morning my, lOvlies!
How was Monday, did you all survive it in one piece? I had a pretty decent morning but oh, what an afternoon! Two hours of cleaning up dead leaves in the fresh air. *contented sigh* I uncovered some more flowers that I had forgotten about and they look like they are going to be happy when they get some sunshine too. We all need sum, fresh air, and good dirt. LOL
It's too early to see any critters, I only saw a few worms and millipedes. Not thrilled with anything that has tons of legs but he was fine. I am keeping my eye out for Tif (Tif is my Toad Friend). I peeked under the clay pot that he liked last year, but no sign just yet.
How long do toads live anyway?
.
.
.
I can tell you now that I hit the Google Machine :busy1:
American Toads have a life expectancy of 5-10 years. But the catch is that in the wild, it is closer to 2. Tif has been hanging around for at least two years. If he is the same little guy that used to hang out in my gardening bag, then it is three. I keep my garden tool bag on the patio spets and I can't tell you how many times I'd pick up my bag and see a 2" toad snuggled in one of the pockets. I'd end up carrying him around the yard if he didn't want to come out.
I hope to see him soon, but if not, toads stick to the same location so perhaps there is a Tif Jr out there?

Today is going to be a reboot of yesterday but even better. I have less housework and warmer temps. I have some scrap stuff that needs to be done (yeah, yeah I gotta work on Christopher's book.... Bad Faery:flyswatter:)
My mom has an important Dr appt tomorrow- heart function assessment, I think- so I want to check in and wish her good luck. Then it's going to be outside all the time, Bay-beeeee!

TfT
I gave a tip to SuSanne yesterday, but I'll repeat it in case ya missed it ;)
When I get stuck making a border or cluster, I look for a template that has a similar shape to what I have in mind. I open the template and drag the relevant layers onto a new file. I can save the new file as a PSD so I have a ready-made cluster template for the next time I get stuck

Have a lovely and wonderful day!

Holy chaos. It's only 8:09 and in nearly twenty two years at the office we have never had a morning like this.
If it's not a full moon than whatever that balloon floating over the US has brought has been activated!!
SAVE YOURSELVES!!!!! go back to sleep!!!!

Seriously though... not a single thing has gone right this morning. To the point it's entertaining.

@Su_Sanne You are too sweet to me. It is easy to say good words to nice people.
How is the border page coming along?
Lyme is unfortunately a huge part of my life and my family's lives. I live in an area where it is endemic but Gary and I had it for decades before we were officially diagnosed. The quick version is that Gary got very sick in 2004 and no one could figure out what was going on. For several years he got worse and then started to have psychiatric issues. The meds made him worse. I was constantly searching online for any answers or ideas- anything to try. I finally came to the possibility of it being Lyme Disease. It took seeing a few different doctors before we found a Lyme Literate Doctor (LLMD). That was in 2007. I had also been experiencing strange health issues and his Dr suggested that I get tested. When I tested positive, we had the kids tested too since it is transmitted sexually and congenitally. We can trace Gary's symptoms back to the 1970s and we assume I got it from him in the 90s. The kids were most likely born with it.
The kids and I are considered to be in Remission. We don't have symptoms but the bacteria will form into cysts and can hide in blood and tissue. Any stress on the immense system and they can emerge from the cyst form and start replicating in the spirochetal form. That can bring on an active case.
Gary is -- I don't want to say untreatable, but nothing works. Being off of antibiotics makes him worse but nothing makes him better. He was officially declared permanently disabled in 2010.
My family has been through hell and back more than once but we know it is what made us so strong.
Do you have a Lyme vaccine available for dogs in Germany? We get that for the dogs every year and they also take flea and tick preventative pills every month.

(Are you sorry you asked? And to think, that is the very short version of my tale :rotfl: )

@taxed4ever ooooh so cold by you! Are you still :brrr: Congrats on a girl! I am with you, I personally don't understand the need for a gender reveal party but hopefully no one in Canada is setting off wildfires or explosions like in the US.
But it must have been nice to be with family. ♥
Sorry for getting Ernie's rubber ducky song in your head too. Did it warm up enough to get out in the yard in the afternoon?

@vickyday Big hugs and good luck at the Dr today. I hope they can figure out what is going on so they can treat it and make you feel wonderful again. The sweater looks amazing on you! I love the color, really really pretty!

@bcgal00 I am excited for you too!! The trip is coming up quickly. We are going to miss you here so make sure you come back with lots of photos and stories.
I looked at the Crack Slaw recipe and I think I can adapt it to be vegan. I had gotten 2 packs of sliced seitan from the FP a couple of weeks ago and yesterday I finally looked for recipes using it. It's very common in stir-fries so I bet it would be perfect. TFS!
I am :giggle4: at all of the duckies in your bag, hope you don't get flagged by TSA for a search! Bwuahahah!

@bkasko Welcome to the Ooos, Bernice!!! Pull up a chair :hiding1: -- No, not like that! Like this :groupchat: and grab a drink #coffee1 or :hosed:and make yourself comfy! ♥

I hope that the weather by you gets better soon, March was awful in NJ but I am finally seeing some nicer spring days ahead.

@LSlycord Thank you for the Night Agent rec. Good luck vibes to Syd on her exams and to Shaun for getting those assignments done. On time too.
Is it awful that I am cheering for you that your cranky neighbor is moving? (I'm going to #cheer-3either way)

@Cherylndesigns get the stroller!! get it!!!! Someone has to have a plant baby stroller and IMHO, it should
be you :lovey3: I am such an enabler. Hehe
My dad had a much harder recovery with his shoulder replacement than his hip. I think for the same reason, the sling/brace getup looked really uncomfortable. Did Roger get sent home from the hospital with the icing machine? It pumps water through ice and circulates around the arm and shoulder. It made a big difference once we got it hooked up and placed correctly. If he didn't get one, maybe see if you can rent one?

Linda!!!!!!! You are making me all teary and that cannot stand. Teary twice in one week.
In all seriousness, your words mean the *world* to me. Sometimes when I look back, I think maybe it wasn't as bad as I remember. Maybe I am not as tough as I wish I was, not as good an advocate for my kids. So it is incredibly affirming and validating to hear you say that. But the most important part is that you are proud of me. I don't think many people have said that to me outside of my parents. It's humbling and heartwarming. And if I write any more I am going to need a box of tissues xoxoxoxo

SuSanne- Linda should know that I feel the same way about her but just in case she doesn't, I am saying that right now ♥
It makes me very happy to read that you feel comfortable with us. This group of women is kept tight in my heart and there is always room for more. Get used to it :heartpumplove: :)

Good Morning to all,
I noticed no CheeryO in my avatar this morning.....which makes me sad. BUT, hopefully the doctor will be able to begin the healing of me this morning so I can be back in no time! You really are a wonderful group of caring women. Keep that up and maybe we can make a difference in this crazy world!

No plans for the day other than the doctor visit. I am feeling pretty weak this morning. I am sure it is because I have not been able to eat much in about 5 days! Please keep those prayers coming!

Hugs to all and have a great day!

Good morning ladies. Today I've got my eye exam with the specialist. Hopefully I won't need treatment at this point but I know the optometrist said I'll need to be watched for any more thinning or tearing, and possibly surgery at some point. Fingers crossed. Got an amazon order yesterday with score cards for fargle and yahtzee, along with a new dice game qwixx. These will be fun to play on the ship and I'm sure that some of the others will join in from the group. Our meet and greet is now up to about 65 people. The hard part will be to remember faces and names, I'm terrible at that.

@faerywings If you ever make the crack slaw, I'd recommend putting in extra soy sauce and ginger. I also add garlic and onion salt, not sure if that is in the recipe or not.

@vickyday Hope you feel better soon, getting some help from the doctor.

@Nonni F So far the morning is ok here, no chaos :)

Remi is whining at me, time to go out and feed the birds and play with her. I'd better go. HAGD everyone.

Good Morning everyone! Too late for me also this morning @Nonni F and yes there was a full moon last night! I got up to use the washroom in the middle of the night and I thought the light was left on, but it was the moon shining in through the skylight, full and bright as can be! I was going to get up super early and hit the pool, but I ended up sleeping in until almost 8am. I am all stuffed up, its allergy season again and the pollen is driving my nose crazy!! Guess it did not help that I was out in the back yard raking away dead leaves and putting the cages around my peony bushes. I wonder why the last few years I have been bothered with allergies, I never had any when I was younger. Very strange! My SIL Veronica used to suffer terribly with allergies and now isn't bothered by them at all, again, very strange!! Oh well I have lots of errands to run today and tomorrow is hike day, so I will be getting some form of exercise this week. I might try going to the pool this afternoon and see how busy it is then, but if I don't go at all its ok. Had a good face time with Heather yesterday, she had some upsetting news. First was that she had to buy a new dryer, but that is a necessity and its a good thing she got her income tax refund to help pay for it. Then she found out her neighbour, who just moved in about a month ago was killed in a car crash! :eek2:. She was on her way to Toronto and had her dog with her, the dog came out without a scratch, but sadly she died at the scene. She also owns a couple of cats and they are in the house, but family has been coming to feed them and hopefully they will find new homes for them soon! The woman is a bit older than I am and this was her first home that she has ever bought, she always rented. An immigrant from Romania and Heather said she was a lovely woman, she always gave Poochie (their dog) treats everyday, she told Heather that Poochie better get to like her, because she was going to be living there for a long time. :(

@faerywings - Sounds like you had a wonderful time outside in the warm weather and sun! How lovely! Hope you get to be outside again all afternoon today! Sure would be nice to see your little toad friend again this spring, we don't see many toads but we do have lots of little tree frogs. I am with you about the little critters with lots of legs, not my cup of tea LOL. Best wishes to your Mom on her heart checkup!!

@LSlycord - I bet your Sydney does great with her exams! Sorry that Shaun is also stressing about college also, but I am sure you got him back on track! You are such an amazing Mom!! Hope your work day goes well!

@Nonni F - Yup full moon last night! My DH is a retired RCMP and always swore that when there was a full moon the crazies all came out of hiding and crime went up, more car crashes etc! Hope your afternoon goes a bit more smoothly than your morning. But like you say, its entertaining!! #crazy.

@vickyday - I just love the colour of your sweater and it really looks great on you! Sorry that you are still not feeling well, sure hope the doctor can determine just what is going on with you! Take care of you!! Sending you healing (((hugs)))!

@bcgal00 - Oh that Remi sure keeps you busy and on your toes LOL. Hope your eye exam goes well for you today! Good idea to take some yahtzee and other score cards with you, such fun games all of them!! How many sleeps now until you go??

Ok I am off to the shower and then I need to hit the road and get my errands done. Hope to get a card made for DH's Dad's birthday this weekend. FIL also asked if I would make him some Keto ice cream. The doctor told him he is borderline diabetic and so he has to cut back on his sugar consumption. He has ice cream every day! Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday! :bye2:

Oh Lord! And I speak so naively about ticks. If I had known what that means to you and to your family, I wouldn't have even started. You've been through a lot there. I am very sorry about that. Now I also know why your sweetheart is at home. I can't even imagine what it meant for him. Not being able to work anymore.
I hope life is bearable and your husband has a good distraction and that you have learned to stick together and make life as good as possible for each other. Everyone has to carry their parcel and as we say here in Germany: there is an "Oh!" under every roof. It's not worth envying other people for anything. They all have their baggage to carry. It is incomprehensible that there is still no cure for it! I'm also sure you've tried everything, including alternative healing methods. What do you live on, did you work? Is there support? I hope you're all getting along somehow. I hug you from afar and send a lot of good thoughts. Thank you for your openness and keep your good mood. I think that helps you a lot! xoxo :blowkiss:

PS Hope also that TIF reappears. I think it was just too cold and he's still sleeping somewhere and doesn't want to be disturbed. Our frogs haven't shown up yet either.

I tried your tip. But either they get too wide or it looks so artificial or I have no more ideas to finish the layout. What is that?? I hate to give up. I still have an idea, but that's the end of it. There are other challenges!!! You prefer white wine, I prefer red wine. Nonni? Red or white? However, I can't scrape after I've had a drink. @faerywings Chris, I DO need a stroller - that would sure save my steps. That's such a great idea about that ice machine circulator! No, they did not! He just ices it a lot and that's it. I just told Noni that he's covered with a rash and we thought it was getting better, but it's worse today and he has liquid (Adrienne says it's puss - sorry TMI). They're calling the doctor right now. Poor guy, if anything can go wrong after surgery it will. He's allergic to the glue that they use now and supposedly they didn't use any, but I'm starting to think they might have used it inside. I'll be heading up there shortly. Not much I can do, but give him/them moral support. Yesterday, the nurse told him that he was probably allergic to that iodine wash that they use before surgery. Adrienne took the dressings off and washed all of it off (per the nurse's instructions) and we thought that would help, but he's no better today. Thanks for the information on the ice circulator.

@Cherylndesigns get the stroller!! get it!!!! Someone has to have a plant baby stroller and IMHO, it should

Big hugs, Vicky. Get well soon and take good care of yourself. We'll see you back soon.

Oh @vickyday I sure hope that the doctor gave you some good hope. I'm still praying.

@Cherylndesigns I am sorry that Roger is still not feeling good.

@taxed4ever I am so sorry to hear about Heather's neighbor. I'm sure that is so hard for her.

@bcgal00 I hope the eye appointment went well. You get your pixie cut this week, right?

@faerywings when you were explaining your background with Lyme, I just couldn't help but remember so much...and just felt so grateful with how you have come through...and I just don't think that I remember to tell people often enough what they mean to me. So, on that note, no more tears!!!

Thanks, Linda. He's had and is still having a pretty rough time.
