Good morning, my lOvlies.

I have absolutely nothing new to share. I picked up my groceries (keep getting less and less every week to stay within my budget, eep), did two loads of laundry, cleaned for my friend, and cooked dinner. What a day.
I am going to visit my parents today. I have to pick up a suitcase to borrow and maybe we will go over some ideas of things to do while it is raining. I told my mom that I was willing to go looking at antiques. I hate antiques and antique shops, they give off strange vibes. But if it makes her happy... If it were up to me, I would go to the aquarium but that isn't anything she would want to do.

@LSlycord BTDT with the dogs, they can be so annoying when you are trying to sleep.
Have a wonderful time visiting with Syd today. Is Shaun able to go with you too or is he at school/work?
That is awesome news about the job interview, it will be nice if you don't have to do Round 2.


@BrightEyes Do you make red or green enchilada sauce? I prefer green but that is really hard to find in my supermarket. Wondering if it would be easier/cheaper/healthier to make my own. It is a hassle to make enchiladas in general since I have to make two batches- one with white beans for Cait and chicken for me and the guys. But if the sauce isn't hard to make, I could do it one day and then assemble them the next... it could work

@vickyday I don't; supposed you can make fried green tomatoes with grape tomatoes. heh. I have so many of them and I don't think they are going to ripen.
The cabin looks incredible and will be a fun place to hang out. I hope the walls are up by Oct 1.

Good morning. Quick in and out this morning. We get to see Syd at noon. She only has one class on Thursdays so it really is a good time to meet her. She had a few things that she wanted me to bring her...and of course, I have a few food items. Shaun has school so he doesn't get to go on this trip.

Thank goodness we get to have lunch with Syd because I am really down in the dumps about Decker. Yesterday, the rescue lady called again. She is in Minnesota and she needed someone to take Decker to the vet to have him euthanized. I have done that with two of our dogs in the past because I believe that they need to be loved in their final minutes. But I could not do it...I told her that emotionally I just couldn't handle it.

Ok...back to the high point of the emotional roller coaster. I need to get things ready for Syd. I'll be back in here later today to catch up on personals!

Quick in and out.... DSon#1 and wife arrived at 10 PM last evening. It was midnight before we got in bed. They were so surprised and very happy to see that DD#1 was here. DD#3 plans on coming down when she finishes work this afternoon. That means that they get to see all the sisters and brother on this trip. They are staying until tomorrow morning. DD#1 may be leaving tomorrow or Saturday... so I may be back to my normal routine this weekend. It has been wonderful having her visiting with me.

Chris, I use dried red New Mexican chili powder, cumin, garlic salt, black pepper and salt browned in with the ground beef and flour to make my enchilada sauce. I do not use the canned or jar chilis for it. I don't make the chicken with green chili chicken enchiladas... although I do enjoy eating it. I have a friend who makes it so I should get her recipe as it is delicious. BTW, she makes hers by stacking the tortillas, the cheese and chicken in a flat oblong Pyrex baking dish then pours the green chili enchiladas sauce over it and adds a layer of cheese before heating it. You should be able to do that and make one dish with the chicken and one with the white beans then add the sauce to both.

Linda... I am so sorry to hear that they will be euthanizing Decker... you made the right decision to say No, you couldn't do that!

Well, the kids are stirring so have to get some fresh coffee made. CYL

Morning ladies... Well I survived the house hunting LOL. The one place that MIL and FIL looked at was very beautiful and right on the lake front. The other we looked at in the same complex was for SIL to look at and it was beautiful also. I know that this is such a hard decision for our In-Laws to make, but I think that they realize that living there would be the best situation! I just about fell over when FIL asked if the garages were set up for electric cars?? He was thinking of buying one. REALLY???? SIL Linda and I both said, "what are you talking about? You are going to buy a car that you can't drive??" OY VAY!! They went to Ladysmith to view the other place that was even bigger than our house, that was a waste of time, there were far too many stairs on the outside of the property and it was way to big for either of them to handle. Thank goodness they vetoed that one. They stayed for supper with Linda then headed home. So hopefully we will hear what they are going to do next soon. I bet nothing!! Hopefully I am wrong! The hike was nice and I wasn't even stiff or sore afterwards, however I think I need to trim my toenails as they are getting too long for my hiking shoes LOL. Today I will try to get some scrapping done and have a talk with Heather, to see how the boys are making out with school. It is another sunny warm day, so I should get outside and trim some bushes etc. It is sad to see the flowers are fading out and soon everything will be changing colours. Another summer almost done and soon we will change the page to Autumn.

@faerywings - I know doesn't it seem like somedays we are just on repeat! One day just like the next. I wouldn't mind a couple of those days, seems we are busy around here and it will just get more busy when the In-Laws decide to sell. OMG I can't imagine trying to get them to get rid of some of their stuff!! It will be a major operation!! I am really keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate for your trip! However just spending some time away together will be nice and hopefully you can find something fun to do! Treasure every moment with your Mom!!

@LSlycord - I am so sad for all of you, to hear that they will be euthanizing Decker!! Poor Dog, so very heartbreaking! Of course you made the right decision not to be there with him! ((((Hugs)))) to all of you that tried to do the best for him! Glad that you will get to see Syd today and of course you had to bring some goodies with you!! It's what Moms do right?? Good morning ladies. I am glad to be out of bed more but hopefully eventually the fatigue lifts b/c everything is so draining. I would love to get out with the dogs but no idea when I will be able to get out. I can barely get up the stairs a few times a day and then am so exhausted I have to go lie down. Ugh. As you can gather, I have no patience LOL. I just want to get back to normal and get on with things.

I will be doing a telemedicine phone call in a bit b/c on Monday the doctor I spoke to didn't call in my prescription. So I had to set up another phone call for today and will try again. If they mess this up then I will have to go to the hospital emergency dept tomorrow but hopefully I won't need to b/c being non-urgent it will be an all day wait to get seen.

Today I hope to scrap a page and will get some laundry done. That's about it.

@faerywings My back has been ok during all this so that is a small blessing. Enjoy the day with your mom and hopefully the antique shopping won't be too bad. I like doing that kind of stuff so would gladly go in your place if I could

@LSlycord That is so sad to hear about Decker. I've done it and it is devastating. Poor dog. On a happier note, enjoy seeing your daughter.

@taxed4ever Looks like we cross posted this morning. Enjoy the nice weather and getting outdoors today. I bet it felt good to have done the hike and not feel sore today. I can't wait to start getting out again and building up my stamina. It is sad about the flowers fading away at the end of summer but then I focus on the fall colors emerging and that perks me up.

Good afternoon. I never got back in here yesterday. I don't know why, but I was super exhausted all day and even yesterday evening. No, I don't have covid. LOL Just tired - I'm better today but I hit a wall yesterday. I think all the activities of the weekend, Jordan's visit, the long car rides etc. just piled up and hit me yesterday.

Chris @faerywings I don't want to step foot in a car for awhile except maybe for a ten minute trip into town. I did end up getting very nauseated late in the night after my trip with Ava. My front porch sign looks amazing! I did a LO on another site and will do one for here, too. It's so cheerful but I wish I'd gotten 2 of them - I could have set them side by side - one side says one thing and the orange side is different. Chuck told me that he thought 1 was adequate - he probably doesn't want me to feel like I have to drive over an hour again to get another one. He always hates to see me pushing myself in car rides.

Trudy @taxed4ever you sure did have a busy day helping the inlaws look at houses. Sounds like FIL is living in a dreamland. An electric car. LOL He won't even have a car, let alone one of those. It's going to take too long to even get one. Poor guy - he just doesn't want to give up, does he? And those big houses????? Oy Vey is right! I hear you about the planes - I have NO desire to get on one, either. I'd love to "wish you and everybody else here".

Linda @LSlycord I'm sending you lots of hugs today - that's so sad about Decker. Surely, they could find one family that has time to tend to his special needs, but maybe not. I know you and they have tried so hard. There are some dogs that are just hopeless cases. You have certainly tried and you have nothing to be sad about - well, you know what I mean. You'll still be sad, but you did your absolute best!!! You have to feel good about your efforts - not many people would undertake a dog like him.

Susie @pachimac have you made any decisions yet about your cake? That stinks that the "diamond" wasn't yours - that's SO weird that a second stone turned up.

You probably all know by now that Queen Elizabeth passed away. I have the tv on all day and saw them announce it. The end of an era.

I've been scanning all day today, so I'm taking a quick break. I've got a headache and need to start working on supper and feed the dog. No more scanning for me today!

@faerywings I have a ton of cherry tomatoes, too, that are green as grass! I don't think they will ripen, either! And trying to fry them would be a royal pain in the you-know-what!!! No, thanks!
I'm not counting on the walls to the cabin being up by Oct.1. He is working OT and we have been busy on the weekends which really cuts into his working on the cabin! We shall see!
Yes, those stuffed animals are so beautiful! DD did great getting them made!

Have a great time with your mom and enjoy your time with her, no matter what you do! Sure wish I still had mine!

Hello Everyone! Today was a good day. I felt the best I have in two months, so of course, I overdid it and now I'm worn out. I cleaned my deck today. A few months back birds built a nest between my deck and my neighbors. They used my deck railing as their landing pad, and of course, left me some yucky deposits. I also got a layout created for one of the challenges. Also, answered lots of emails, texts, comments, and messages here at the O. I'm not sure yet when my brother will be visiting. It is his first time to my apartment, so I want it to be clean.

@faerywings I know what you mean about the groceries, getting less and less every week to stay within the budget. Same here, and there is only one of me! I can't imagine feeding a family at these prices. Pretty soon I'll be buying so little I can stop paying for delivery and bring them up the stairs myself! Per the decluttering, I haven't started back yet. Will get my cleaning done first, then try and get back to it.

@LSlycord It breaks my heart to read that Decker has to be euthanized, so I can only imagine how upset you are. Thank goodness you could have lunch with Syd.

@BrightEyes How wonderful your family reunion sounds. I'm so happy for all of you. Enjoy your time together.

@taxed4ever When everything goes to electric cars, I suppose I'll have to relearn how to ride a bike. With my sensitivities to electrical things, I can't imagine sitting over that huge battery everywhere I go. Glad you were able to hike without being sore afterward. I haven't hiked in a while. I'm looking forward to getting back to daily walks.

Yes...I know what you mean about Decker. I keep reminding myself that we did our best for him...and he just can't continue with a life like this...but it is still sad. I noticed that Shaun was pretty down today.

I used to have a Camaro. I was really a good girl back in the day...but I did have a heavy foot. And that Camaro could really pick up the speed. It was a 1976...my parents got it for me new when I went to college because I lived at home. Silver with a maroon interior. My brother was in high school and I always let him borrow it...and his foot was probably even heavier than mine.
But thinking about the car made me smile! So thanks for that.

Very sad about the queen. She lived a long and meaningful life...but I know her family must feel so lost. The whole country must feel that way!

Oh goodness @taxed4ever, it sounds like the in-laws may not be in the land of reality quite yet. An electric car? Hopefully this is just some of the steps that they need to take to get through the processing to start the downsizing. Glad the hike was good!

Per the decluttering, I haven't started back yet. Will get my cleaning done first, then try and get back to it.

@LSlycord It breaks my heart to read that Decker has to be euthanized, so I can only imagine how upset you are. Thank goodness you could have lunch with Syd.

@BrightEyes How wonderful your family reunion sounds. I'm so happy for all of you. Enjoy your time together.

@taxed4ever When everything goes to electric cars, I suppose I'll have to relearn how to ride a bike. With my sensitivities to electrical things, I can't imagine sitting over that huge battery everywhere I go. Glad you were able to hike without being sore afterward. I haven't hiked in a while. I'm looking forward to getting back to daily walks.

@Cherylndesigns I don't have TV and didn't know about the Queen's passing until this afternoon when I saw it online. It truly is the end of an era.

@vickyday I'm concerned about your headaches. I'm starting to get one now after cleaning my deck. There was a lot of dust and stuff. Will have to backtrack to find out about your cabin. What will that be used for, another place for Mark to store more stuff? LOL Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Good to hear you are well again! Hope you didn't overdo it too badly today that you are down again tomorrow!
Today's headache was from the movements during the all day scanning I did! I took some tylenol, started working in the kitchen and it went away!
The cabin is for moving inside for warmth when we have company and they are too chilly being outside. There will be a fireplace, some chairs, my hutch (that is still at the parsonage) for storage and maybe a small table. Not much else. But, I'm sure Mark will try to get more "stuff" in there, LOL!

Hey y'all! I'm going to be brief- I know i was absent yesterday and will be swamped today. After spending time last week in the beautiful UNCLUTTERED cabin,{ @vickyday we envy a bit your cabin project! ] we had a hard time returning to our tiny crammed apt. See, we've been waiting 2 years for the V.A. to complete the settlement as aforementioned, so I kept collecting "house things". It's gotten to be too much. @faerywings - you wouldn't enjoy our amazing Antique mall in Charlotte, lol . Any way, we have been purging our place of what we feel comfortable getting rid of. That involves every room but the bathroom in this tiny apt! So we were up to our eyeballs in clearing our Living Room and my studio yesterday. I'm finishing the studio today. Zeke is with us daily from 11:30=3:00pm. He is on the spectrum. High functioning, but at times he goes dead silent. Today is one of those. So I will be brief...
Linda, @LSlycord I'm soooo sorry about Decker. I hope now it is behind you that you will be able to just have good memories.
@bcgal00 I can empathize with you-- we both had both covid versions, and i was told by hospital i had double pneumonia ( but no symptoms"???) But that's another story. It took at least 2 weeks to feel better and 3 to recoup strength. Glad you were able to hike a bit.900
Kay @BrightEyes We do lazy enchiladas in the slow cooker like that = when we don't feel like being "authentic", lol Frying the tortillas in sauce is the best way but oh sooo messy!!!! We LOVE both the red and green sauce. #clap
@taxed4ever Your hiking is amazing. I've never been one that does long distance, but do miss our mountain trails we hiked before Dan's ankle got so bad. Congrats to you on that healthy practice! An electric car?? I can't imagine owning one- too much hassle. Saw an article of an owner running out of power near a coal mine and the miners pushed the car to a place where the owner could repower. The irony!!!

@faerywings I echo Vicky- have a good time and make a memory. Mom and I were adventurous together for years. But now she is 900 miles away and its been 2 years. She can barely carry on a conversation on the phone. I miss my friend.

Good to hear from you Amanda. Will you be able to house hunt soon? I'm sure you're more than ready to get out of that tiny apartment. Here's a picture of the pool so you won't have to go searching. LOL
