And we have sunshine!!! Finally. I feel like my entire body went pruney the last few days from the rain. It is going to warm up to the upper 60s so a good day for me to start some yard cleanup.

What did I do yesterday? Not much of anything. Cleaned here a (tiny) bit, cleaned for my friend. Laundry, cooked dinner. Blah blah boring boring.
Same old same old...

I am actually looking forward to getting yard work done. Gary said he is going to mow the lawn and I hear him battering stuff in the basement. That means he is working on Halloween props. yay! Caitlyn heard through the grapevine that she is getting an interview so there is at least that

Enjoy your day!

Good morning. I never made it back in for personals yesterday so I'm going to get that done this morning. I wish I could tell you that it was because I had so much going on yesterday and I accomplished so much...well, that's not quite true! I really didn't accomplish much.

Sitting out here on the lanai this morning. Another night of sleeping with the windows open and another morning in the 50's. I love it! Shaun's surgery check-in is at 10:30 so we will leave here about 9:30. Anxious to have that behind us and hoping that it will resolve his UTI issues for good!

Now off to do some personals before I do anything else.

@BrightEyes I am just now starting to work myself through the Medicare maze. I have my new card for prescriptions so I need to make sure that I have the right pharmacy. Seriously, the more I learn about Medicare and Social Security, the more that I realize how messed up it is! My parents were both Federal employees so they had great coverage besides Medicare and Social Security so I really didn't notice what a problem this is.

Hope that today is bright and sunny for you. And, I dug out some of my old balloon photos from years ago at our balloon festival in Iowa. Now I need to scrap something!

@LSlycord Good luck to Shaun today!! sending you all extra big hugs

@BrightEyes hope that the rain stopped and the balloons were able to fly. I turned that heat back off yesterday, hope I can squeeze a little more time out without it. I don't even want to think about the S-Word!

@vickyday That is good that Mark doesn't need to be on insulin. Sooo freaking expensive. Gary's parents would bring him back bottles when they visited their friends in Canada. But it has been a while since they did that. Weird timing, he got a call from the Pump Technician at his endocrinologist's office yesterday. He put in the order for the new pump and it should be approved/shipped by the time he goes for a visit next month.
He hasn't had any problems with Potassium. My mom does b/c of her kidney disease and a low-potassium diet is really difficult to manage. Hopefully, Mark can keep it all in balance.
I wish I knew what to suggest about the SS benefits. We got a letter the other day about "Estate Planning." Too bad I don't have an estate to plan for hahahahha!!
The BBQ by the pit sounds like a lot of fun!

Hope you are having a blast @bcgal00 !!

Linda- it really makes a difference when you are comfortable with the hospital, sounds like Shaun will be in good hands
Butter shortage?? That is almost as bad as a coffee shortage. (almost)

@Cherylndesigns how nice to sleep in! What a perfect birthday for Adrienne! The foot truck sounds like it was delish as was the cake.
If I had to guess, I bet you didn't have anything close to a free day yesterday.

xoxoxo

@vickyday thank you for the chicken stew recipe. I make a chicken noodle soup that is similar...made with a milk base. I'm definitely going to try this. And I'm with you, I buy the chicken breasts because I just don't want to mess with the prep. As far as the Social Security...that is a total ridiculous nightmare trying to figure out what to do with that. So many gotcha's and "if, but" things.

@faerywings the price of insulin makes me furious. I would get started on that, but it would just be a non-stop rant. And why? Maybe I should run for a political office. Bwha-ha-ha! Then again, maybe not. I'll just come in here every once in awhile and rant!

I am pretty jealous about your scanner. Mine works fine but it is slow. I saw one that I really wanted...for $500. Good grief...for that price it would have to do the sorting and thinking about how to file the photos. It seems like this week is taking forever to get to the end...and I want to know about Scott's job and Cait's interview.

@bcgal00 great news about the neck node shrinking a bit. Hoping for the best possible outcome there. And can't wait to hear about your adventures over the next couple of days. So glad that you and Jen are able to get out and enjoy yourselves. Hope the weather is great! I'll be checking FB for some wonderful nature photos.

@tanteva I've been thinking about your work trip. Hope it was fun and you enjoyed the time with your work mates. And how incredible is that about Urban's book? Plus, getting a trip out of the deal. Sounds pretty amazing.

@Cherylndesigns I have to agree with Chuck, your house does sound like it has a revolving door...and I LOVE it! I really wish that we had that going on here...that's how it always was at Mom and Dad's place and I miss it horribly. But maybe it will be again. Glad that the cake turned out...I've had mayonnaise cakes. Don't know that I have ever made one though. Love that the kids went to town and got supper from the food truck...sounds delicious.

@pachimac I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your cousin. It sounds like yours was a very special relationship. And congratulations on pulling off all of the details for the vow renewal!

Another cold rainy day - although the rain has stopped for awhile. Not sure if the balloons will fly today. The wild is calm so there is a good chance they may be able to do so. Yesterday barely made it into the 60's and the same for today. I had a PJ day yesterday and was glad to stay in and veg.... although I did change the sheets and swapped the summer to winter comforter. Oh, it was so nice to crawl into the bed and be warm last night. Not quite cold enough to put the down comforter or blankets on yet.

I got a call from the doctor's office yesterday morning - turns out they don't need prior approval from Medicare to send referrals for the tests and specialist. Called and got them all scheduled. 1 test next week, a 2nd test in Dec and the specialist in Feb. Put my name on the call/cancellation list so there is a chance I might get in earlier than Feb.

Need to run a few errands today if the rains hold off.... books back to library, the Post Office, Best Buy and the grocery store. Tomorrow I need to clean house a bit as the Red Hat gals will be over here for a brown-bag lunch on Tuesday. I hope to get the DVD inventory caught up and put the newest DVDs away over the weekend. Still haven't figured out what is going on between my computer and the printer... will work on that later on. Will see if the laptop has the same issues as my main computer.

Good afternoon all.

I miss so many posts - I really need to come back in here at the end of the day. DISCLAIMER: LOL - if I don't respond to something that I should have - it's because I missed it.

Linda @LSlycord I'm thinking about Shaun today - praying that everything goes smoothly and this does indeed fix his problem. You're certainly in one of the best places you can be in! Yes, it's pretty nice to have people popping in and out all day! Daisy has been standing, looking out the window, waiting for Lila. It's so cute. These kids are so sweet - they're ready to pitch in and do anything and were too happy to drive into town to get food from the truck. They brought back an enormous amount of food. LOL we all ate out of the containers. We had picked what we wanted from a menu that Ava posted in the "Ranch Group Text". You'd crack up at that too, talk about "blowing up your phone". There are about 10 of us on it and all you hear is "ding, ding ding". Chuck always acts like he's annoyed, but he probably would feel left out if he wasn't part of it. Another "revolving door" via phone. Hahaha

Chris @faerywings have fun outside today. Sounds delightful - it's in the 70's here, but it got chilly last night. We haven't put the heat on, but the air is on today. I'm not going to be uncomfortable and our house is small - it doesn't take much to cool it down or heat it up. Sounds good that Cait heard news through the grapevine And, how exciting that Gary is in the basement - that's great news - means he's working on his Halloween projects.

You are right - I did do something yesterday. LOL I actually did something unusual - I made 3 necklaces for myself. I had the stuff for a long time and got a bee in my bonnet yesterday to do it. I had bought some Native American charms and had some turquoise beads and some feathers with hooks on them and used some of the cording that was in my stash. I had seen some similar necklaces at a boutique and took pictures of them. I told Ava I could make them myself. They're not as nice as the ones I saw in the store, because I didn't have enough charms, but I'm going to get some more. They're long and I can put them over my head.

Susie @pachimac I'm thinking of you - I know how close you were to your cousin. I'm here if you need to talk. Hugs.

I need to get dressed - no, I'm not dressed yet but I have on my leggings and a matching T-shirt - my night outfit. Time to put on my "day outfit".

XOXO
