Daily Ooos: Thursday, October 21

Why do I feel like I can't wake up? I think I slept ok, mostly. I woke up a few times and then did the in-and-out from 4.30 on. But nothing so outrageous that I think I should feel this crummy. Oh well. Not much I can do other than drink much more coffee.

I did a good deed yesterday and that made me happy. The checkout lanes at the supermarket were really long and an older woman only had a couple of things in her cart so I let her go ahead of me. She thanked me and said that she would do a favor for someone in my honor. Then I had a very good deed done *for* me by none other than @tanteva She made a hat for Braxton and shipped it out to the US with some Swedish Candy- that *wasn't* salty licorice

Smooshed between the good things I talked to my mom who had an update with her kidney Dr. She also told me that my dad has two hernias. I know nothing about hernias other than surgery is used to repair them sometimes. He sees a specialist in three weeks so it can't be an emergency issue.
The weather was incredible (would have been so nice to get down the shore yesterday and today *cries* ) and I brought in a few of the herbs I have in posts. Maybe I will be able to keep them alive this time. I have a large lemon verbena which smells incredible and my fingers are crossed that it survives. The info I found said that they will lose all of their leaves but to keep watering it and it should come back to life in the spring. I warned my family to not make fun of me if it looks dead and I don't give up on it. I have a tendency to be in denial when I kill houseplants. I might have a green thumb outside but inside, pfffft!

I am cleaning today and then making homemade chicken pot pie for dinner and I am excited about that. I love that recipe even if I pick out all of the yucky peas.

@tanteva Thank you so much again for the hat and candy!! I love it!!! It made me happy Wish I could help you pick up your spirits a bit. I am sending good and non-anxious thoughts while you are at work today. Remember what Kay suggested about her. Fila with Anna sounds like a lot of fun-- and that is how long it is usually when I meet my BFF for coffee.

@nancyr what a mess with your furnace and pipes! Did you have some space heaters to keep warm overnight? The weather yesterday was beautiful but we are def. running late for fall color. My ILs went up to High Point the other day and were very disappointed.
I hope that this is a great start to a great season for the Devils! Your DS's friends sound like they are an awesome bunch. Yikes, that must have been a bit scary having the people on the train yelling like that. It makes me want to stay away from people. :/

Kay - it must have felt wonderful to catch up on that sleep although if you slept that late and still needed 2-3 cups of coffee, maybe not so much. Were you able to get to the grocery store yesterday?

@bcgal00 I love seeing when you pop in here! Sounds like you have your schedule the way you want it. Awesome! How are Jen and Bailey doing? Heh - I should laugh at the "sleeping better but not through the night" -- I hear ya!!
Gary did put up a display this year but it is smaller than usual. Still has a few moving skeletons but nothing like when he had the rock band,

@Cherylndesigns I heard that too about the Dollar Tree. Maybe it is good - that will keep me from thinking - Sure, buy it, it's only a dollar!
Yay!!!!!!!!! That is fantastic news and Steph and Asher!! That is only two months away!
My parents got Pfizer boosters- my dad didn't have any reaction to the booster and mom ended up sleeping the following day but that was it. I hope that Scott is able to get a booster soon since he had the J&J.

The gloves I am working on for Caitlyn thankfully don't look like that. I must have missed a stitch or two in one row but I *think* it going to work out ok.

Good morning. I know @faerywings I've been sporadic with visiting but really miss my O family so want to pop in more often. I had fun with a challenge yesterday and today am going to do Vicki's challenge. I'm glad to hear G's doing a display b/c he obviously has a lot of fun with it, putting in so much time and effort every year. Makes sense to go smaller this year though. We're going to J's with the dogs. Taz is always freaked out with the noise so I think it'll be good for him to be at J's where it will be quieter (her apartment is at the back of the house, not street facing where it'll be noiser and they don't have fireworks going off close by (fireworks go off in the school yard right behind us). We'll let the dogs play and we'll watch a few movies. It'll be the first time I'm away from the house on Halloween in many years.

Today I've got errands, desk work, a bit of scrapping and laundry. I want to make a batch of rice and beans later but I'll see how the day goes. If not today, then tomorrow I'll do that.

I'm heading out of here to go scrap before starting my work day. BFN

Good morning. I got up early (for me). Woke up about 7:30 and that was it. Adrienne's not coming down for coffee - her day is too busy.

Yes, we're all pretty excited about Steph and Asher's visit! Cameron and Jordan will be here for Thanksgiving, so we have lots of family happiness coming up. They can NEVER seem to all get here at the same time. My mom used to complain about that, though. Most of us moved out of state and we were NEVER all there at the same time. Somebody couldn't make it - usually one of the kids.

Chris @faerywings sorry to hear that your mom and dad are having kidney/hernia problems. I'm not amused that the $Tree is raising their prices. I might as well start going to The Dollar General - it's closer, anyway. Nothing in there is a dollar - except maybe some penny candy. LOL They have food now and it's right around the corner. Can you tell I'm grumpy today? That's what happens when I don't get my sleep out.

Hope everybody has a good day - I'm going to go and try to have an attitude adjustment. BWAHAHA

Morning ladies... I was MIA yesterday, but had a great time on our Urban hike/walk yesterday! Despite the pouring rain, it really was a lot of fun! We did not have to take our hiking poles or pack our backpacks and most of us had on raincoats and carried our umbrellas. I was surprised at how dry I stayed, it was pouring rain on and off the whole time. It was fun to see places in the small Town where I attended high school again. We all learned so much about the history of the town and happy to visit areas that I have not been to for many, many years! Of course the sun came out right at the end of our hike/walk LOL. There were 26 of us on this trip, so surprising considering the lousy weather! Quite a few of us went for lunch afterward and I finally got to give my friend her Birthday Card, she loved it! I just love the colours in this one!

Today I need to go to the craft shop downtown and get some Paint for a project that I have started. It will be going into a local art show that I was asked to be in. I was very honoured to be asked! It's called the Teeny Tiny Art Show and Sale and I have to have my entries done before the 15th of November, so I better get busy! Thanks everyone for the nice comments on my cards to the grands, I hope they all like them and that they have a fun Halloween! I am looking forward to the photos that will be sent my way!

@faerywings - Chris I feel the same way this morning, like I had a good sleep, but really foggy this morning and will need lots of coffee today! It must be the weather?? Wish you could have gotten to the shore with your Mom! Sorry to hear about your Dad having two hernias! It must be very painful for him! No wonder he has been cranky!! Hope they can fix him up very soon! They must not be too bad right now, but left too long they can make you very sick! FIL had a bad one and never said anything to a Dr. for over a year!! Man did he get a talking to from his Dr. left too long it could have killed him! How fun that Eva sent you the gifts!! So thoughtful of her, you must be so happy! How lovely that you did your good deed at the grocery store, it will come back to you threefold, you wait and see!

@bcgal00 - How nice to see your smiling face here again! Glad to hear that things are going well for you and hope that Bailey is doing well also! It will be nice for you to be away with the dogs on Halloween and away from the noise that frightens Taz so much! Looks like we are both in for lots more rain over the next few days, hope you can get out between the raindrops for a nice walk with the dogs today! Enjoy your day of scrapping and running errands!

@nancyr - Ughh on all the troubles with your furnace and plumbing! Hope everything is running smoothly now and that you are nice and cozy warm again! Your Devils sure are doing great! Wish we could say the same for our Bruins!

@tanteva - What a sweet thing you did to send Chris a gift! So thoughtful! I love your page about Fika!! It sounds lovely to me and sometimes it is months before I get to spend time with some of my girlfriends too. Hope that you are feeling better today and that your work day goes well for you!

Kay - Sure hope you find the instructions for your heat! BRRR!! No fun getting into the shower when it is so chilly in house! Sounds like you had a very productive day yesterday, no wonder you got burned out and slept in as late as you did! Hope you get to the grocery store today!

@Cherylndesigns - Sorry you are in a grumpy mood today, you need a nap maybe LOL. How wonderful to have so much family coming for Thanksgiving and for Christmas! I hear ya on everyone not being able to be together at the same time, it sure happens a lot for us also.

@felis - Had to laugh over your description of the crochet Christmas tree!! Adding the decorations certainly helped and I think that when the star is on, it will be very cute! Good for you for getting your Christmas shopping started, wish I was better at doing that!

@tjscraps - OMG I had to LOL over your daughter getting into the ink! I so remember those days and sure don't miss them! I do miss having the laughter and the cuddles though! Enjoy your babies while you can, they grow up far too quickly! Hope the ink came out of everything and you got the water all mopped up!

Ok Heather will be face timing with me soon, Kids are finally feeling better and back to school, she is happy to have some peace and quiet as the boys have both had bad colds this past week. Hope to get a page started today, wish me luck, it never seems to happen for me.

It was a looong & hectic day at work today. Not much trouble and fuss, but lots of work, so I'll just pop in and say hi!

I must say: I had bought a bag of salty licorice as well, but with it the postage was about $6 more. And since I knew you really would hate it, I gave the licorice to Urban instead. Lol

Update on the ink. It did not come out. My hubby is now calling the part on her back her 'tramp stamp'. Fun times.

I cannot wait until the weekend - we don't have anything much planned other than seeing my mom and her hubby but it seems like it's been a really long week.

@faerywings I hope your mom's kidney appointment goes well. I think it's a bit funny (haha funny not really funny) that you think a 2-3 week wait makes it not urgent. Here if you can get in to a dr within 2-3 weeks you either hit the jackpot or are seriously ill. When my dad was diagnosed with cancer (stage 4) it took him 4 weeks to get into an oncologist. I'm happy it isn't like that there for you though!!!!

Hi again. Trudy @taxed4ever thanks for the "cranky wishes". LOL I'm better now. I don't get grumpy very often - must have been getting up too early. I spent some time just sitting out on our beautiful front porch and I do feel better. I called a friend who i check in with every week or so and it made her day. She said that hearing from me was always a "spot of sunshine". Made somebody else feel better, so I feel better. Yes, we're super excited about Steph and Asher coming for Christmas! I HOPE to get to go there in about Feb. SWF is a wonderful place to be in February/March.

Eva @tanteva - the Dowager was ALMOST my favorite character from Downton. I loved her!

Trina @tjscraps "tramp stamp" LOL - at least you can find humor in it.

Steph and I Facetimed for over an hour today - we've so excited that I don't know how we can stand it until December.
