What a difference a day makes. It is cold and windy and rainy. Whatever storm came through yesterday, it was a big one. Trees are down around town, a bunch of roads are closed, and power is out. Not here, thankfully, but within 1/4 mile of me in both directions. Whew, we lucked out (esp since the generator is leaking gas again. Phooey!).

Yesterday was quiet for the most part. I had my headphones on and cleaned for my friend in the morning. My brother called me to share his worries about our mom at lunch time. He has some of the same concerns and frustrations as I have but he talks to her like she is the child which she *hates.* I had a lightbulb moment while we were away that I shared with him. She likes to have her things lined up "just so" and has a very odd-to-me way of organizing things. But when she told me that is how she asserts control over chaos, my disordered brain understood. People with anorexia weigh themselves, count calories, refuse to eat as a way of doing the same. He seemed to get it but who knows if he really *gets* it... But it is a start and maybe he can lighten up on her a bit.

Today I am going to catch up on some things here and then Cait and I are heading to take Dilly back to the vet since her abscess is getting bigger again. Poor little thing :(
I did get the photos off of my camera and my cell and there are some really pretty shots if I do say so myself. I would love to scrap a bit today too.

HAGD, everyone!!

Trudy- what a day you had. Sorry to hear about needed more dental work. Cait needs to go to a dentist/oral surgeon asap but she doesn't have insurance. Her wisdom tooth is coming in - but out to the side, facing her cheek. I hope that she can hold on until January when I can get her (and me) on a plan. That is good that your Gary was home for the heat pump repair person. what was the $$ damage? Not too much?
Nancy- Great news about the rehab! You are a pro. :whoo: Jodi Picoult is such a good author. Her book, Nineteen Minutes, had me at the edge of my seat. I didn't realize that she is a banned author. I should see if she has anything new-ish that I had missed. What is Spark of Light about, I don't recognize that one.
How was the weather by you yesterday and overnight?

Jean- I hate the cold weather but one thing I love is cozy clothes. And cozy food too. I suppose. LOL Good for you for getting a new flannel and enjoying your day in the sun while it was out. That is cool to hear about the newly-found moons. I think that news like that is important to keep the rest of the crud that is happening in perspective.

Kay- wow, you did a lot of cleaning, very smart that you took breaks. I bet the room looks so nice and open now. Is your back feeling better today? Hope it isn't giving you too much grief after all of that moving/cleaning.

xoxo!

Woke up early again this AM...5:30 is too early to be awake!!! But then again..I went to sleep before 9 PM. I was worn out. I remember dropping my book twice [nodded off] before I gave up and turned off the light. The body is still aching so more pain meds today. I am sure the hot shower will help, too - but have to wait until it is warmer in the house to take it. 66 is just too chilly to be getting wet. 7 AM and it is finally getting light - was pitch dark at 6:30. I am more than ready for Daylight Savings time to be done!!! I would be happy if TPTB got rid of it.

I took the photos of the family room before and after the big recliners were gone. The room looks more open and larger now. It is 14' X 18'.

Am not a happy camper... my disposal started making horrible noises yesterday. It doesn't have a 'reset' button on. Will have one of the Son-in-laws take a look at it to see if they know what to do. If they can't figure it out, I think I will learn to live without it. It isn't leaking so can manage without it.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning everyone! Rain again today, but at least the lake is getting back to its normal levels. Had a bit of wind yesterday afternoon and it sure took a lot of the leaves off of the trees. When it dries up a bit I guess we will be raking the yards :mmph: Oh and good news about the Heat Pump... it only needed a new coil and so with the cost of the new part and the maintenance call the cost was under $300 sounds expensive I know but sure beats the cost of a new Heat Pump which would have been thousands of dollars!! So we are good for a few more years of worry free Heat and Cooling. Thank goodness!! Now maybe we can start planning what we want to do for a bit of a warm vacation soon. Tonight my sister and I are going to see the "Downton Abbey" movie at the local theatre, it is only here for two nights and it beats driving all the way to Naniamo or Victoria to see it! DH will be on his own for supper, so he said he will be happy to go and pick up a Sub Sandwich from Subway for his meal. He hasn't had one in a long time, so it will be a treat for him LOL. Dentist appt went very well, pretty much pain free and took about 2 hours and then I was home again and the freezing was already going away. However while I was cooking supper, my temporary cap popped right off and I had to call the Dentist and get back to her office to have it put back on and re-adjusted with a better fit. So far so good and it feels like it will stay put this time. I am a bit sore, so will take some Tylenol soon.

Chris - Sure hope that Cait can get on a plan and get that darn molar removed! Not sure why we have those darn things as it seems they always need to be pulled out!! :noidea: Your weather sounds like what ours was like yesterday, thankfully no downed trees in our area, but the wind sure took the leaves off of all the trees and now it starting to look less colourful around here. How nice that you can listen to music while you are cleaning! I would love to listen to music while I do my laps and I think that will be something that I will ask for as a Christmas gift. I know that there is such a thing, but not sure just how expensive they are, guess I should start looking around and giving DH some hints!! Hope you have a lovely day today!

Kay - The room looks much more roomy with the large recliners gone! Hope that you are able to get your disposal fixed without it costing too much! Nice that you have the boys to look at it for you!

Ok I better get going, Heather and Hunter are calling, so will pop in later on today to catch up with the rest of you all!

Good evening, all. Just today I'm seeing that the trees are suddenly showing a lot of color. Class was today and I have a new drawing done and on my blog.

Turns out my teacher is the president of the Guild of Nature Artists at the natural history museum. Turns out that is a fancy name for a few people who get together to sketch in the collections. I was invited to show up and did that last night. We wound up in the bird exhibits that they seem to like. I did in the end sketch a tern and its shadow that is now the basis of shapes on a new piece I started in class. I think I'd rather do some beetles they have on display though. Maybe next week.

Tonight we're staying home to watch football and eat a crockpot pot roast. The aromas are so good and I'm sure it will be too. Instead of reading during the game I'll work more on crocheting myself a scarf that I started during football games on the weekend.

Chris, hope things are making a bit more sense to you with your mom (and that your brother is with the program). We all have to deal from where we are I guess. Wishing Dilly well and Cait too for that matter. Look forward to seeing the beach photos. Love the LO with the photo MiL sent.

Kay, that room does look so much more spacious and airy. The view from your recliner will be a pleasure I'm sure. Too bad you were up so early and in the chill and dark. Unlike you, I like getting up later and love daylight saving time but could do without the early dark of standard. Can't please everyone.

Trudy, cheers for the easier heat pump fix. How nice the warm winter trip will still be in the cards. Hope the temp. crown stayed put and the soreness left too. I was surprised you have so many leaves down as most of our trees are still green or just turned bright.

Nancy, are the Devils playing? Hope you watch the baseball tonight, assuming the weather got enough better after cancelling yesterday's game. And hope that weather didn't bring you problems.

Hugs in this cold weather.
