Happy October!!! It is a good morning to flip my calendar, at least the one in my office. My Livvie is the "model" this month in the Rat Rescue calendar. She is snuggled next to a small stuffed bat.
(I also got some very good news from friend re: her health so I am in an extra positive mood.)
The one bad thing about it being October is that other than the few props Gary has outside, we have no Halloween decorations down yet. Only the ones that stay year-round LOL Normally, we decorate before our September Bash, since Caitlyn has to share her birthday party with 5 other people, we always let her choose the theme, which is Spooky- every year. No September Bash this year and I haven't been able to get into the attic on my own. No spooky decorations.
I was BORED yesterday. I had it in my head that I was going to take it easy but my goodness it is bor-ing. I did get quite a bit of tagging done and I finished reading The New Jim Crow. That was pretty dense and it will get "recalled" on the 3rd so I had no choice to plug on. I don't understand why it seems harder for my brain to comprehend when reading on a screen. It makes no sense other than maybe physically holding a book and flipping pages has stronger connections to whatever part of the brain connects that?
We watched "13th" last night, Cait had it as an assignment. It is about how written into the 13th amendment, slavery was unconstitutional -unless it was for punishment. It then followed the lines of the ratification of it to the mass incarceration/permanent loss of rights of those formerly incarcerated of today. Straight lines, only some are more hidden than others. It followed exactly what I had been reading in The New Jim Crow.
I need to stay put again today. I was feeling quite good yesterday until I got out of the shower and rotated my hip just a smidge in the wrong direction. pfft. The muscle still feels a bit twingy today so yup. Staying put. PFFTTTTTT.
Gratitudes:
-good news from my friend yesterday
-Caitlyn's Etsy shop is doing great, and she is happy that she can do hand-sewing during some of her lectures.
-my mom's appt with the nephrologist yesterday was good- kidneys are much better since the stents were put in
