I am a little later than usual today, I was able to set my alarm for 6 am instead of 5. Caitlyn has no school today or tomorrow for NJ Teachers' Convention. AKA New Jersey Week at Disney World. :D They get off the first Thurs and Fri of November every year, so it is a great time to get away. It was 5 years ago that we took them out of school for an extra day or so when we we last able to go to Disney. In some ways it feels like forever ago, but in others I can close my eyes and feel like we were just there.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day, I think we hit 70* I wish I could have spent the whole day outside but I did get out for about an hour with the dogs. I have more vines to pull down on the patio but I needed a ladder to get to them. There are still more way out of my reach so I will leave them for Gary to deal with.
I also got a couple of pages done yesterday too. One for my IL's book, one almost done for that too. And then I had to play with some stuff from our new designer NBK
HeatherT's shop is also open so check that all out!

Lots and lots of new goodies in the store, I could have scrapped all day!
No plans for today, except to get ready for tomorrow's LLMD appt for the kids. Always fun. /snark. Thankfully, being with my mom helps to break it up a bit. My dad is going to take Cait's car for inspection while we are gone. And my uncle from CA is out visiting so we will see him for b-fast. It has been years since I saw him last. He is my dad's younger brother and it is funny how they are so much alike, even though they rarely see each other. They moved to SF area when I was really little, so prob around 40 years ago.

I am also debating when I should call the healthcare.gov Marketplace. You need to reapply every year and since this past year was a nightmare of epic proportions, I think it might be better to call, rather than apply online. But man, I really do NOT want to deal with it. I still have time, open enrollment is through Dec. Maybe next week will be better to do this. *procrastinator*

Today is Guy Fawkes day but it is also something even better :
Today is National Men Make Dinner Day! This holiday is dedicated to all the wonderful men in the world who don't cook on a regular basis. It serves as their opportunity to step up to the plate and try their hand in the kitchen! For the men who do spend ample time in the kitchen, you can submit your best recipe on the National Men Make Dinner website!
There are several official rules for National Men Make Dinner Day. These include no grilling, no take-out, and no dishes left in the sink. The man must use a recipe that involves at least four ingredients and a cooking utensil other than a fork. Check out the full list of rules and other interesting information about this humorous national holiday!

Do your hubby's or SO's or male kids cook at all? Gary makes an amazing penne and vodka, and is the king of omelets. Scott also makes good omelets and an eggplant pasta dish- that maybe I can get him to cook again now that he is not working.
But for the most part, I do most of the cooking. I hope some of you are lucky to have men that cook more often :)

Have a great day!

Trudy- boo to colds!Sending Heather and co some chicken soup! We had fruit flies here last month and those little buggers are annoying! When we had the addition put on, it was this time of year and they came on on the lumber. I would put a napkin over my wine glass between sips just so I wouldn't have to fish them out non-stop. I would also leave an inch in my glass over night and dump it in the morning. IIRC, I also used apple cider vinegar in other years to do the same thing (why waste good wine!?)

So this is the update on the bomb threats going on with the school... They had a mandatory assembly, with the principal, superintendent and several police officers. Caitlyn said that they mostly yelled at the students and said it was the Seniors fault for not being a good example. Made them stand up and called them out. (That is pretty BS if they don't know who is doing this and why is it the Seniors fault and not the adults? whatever.) Aaaanyway... The kids that they thought did this last was was actually framed for it. He is not allowed back in school "for his own safety." One kid was caught last week and copped to 2 of the incidents. But that still leaves a lot more. Now the kids have to sign in and out of the bathrooms and there are only one open bathroom each, and only 4 people allowed in at a time. Cait said that she is not going to be able to go at all since now the lines are so long and if you miss more than 10 mins of class, you get a cut. 3 cuts and you lose credit for the class.
School budgets are being cut like mad, and we need teachers to sit at the entrance to check ID's of anyone entering school (we have to get buzzed in since Sandy Hook), and now we need teachers to monitor the bathrooms. Cait is 100% ready to be home-schooled again. Can't say I blame her.
The admins also said that it is up to the students to figure out who is doing this b/c "they have social media." Not sure how that is supposed to help them. And if they lose any more time for evac's graduation will be pushed back into July. SMH!

A scalp massage! Oh that sounds wonderful!!!! It is just not the same with you do that yourself....

Claire- thanks you for the info on the Agatha Christie novels, I will have to see if I can find them on my computer.
What plans does Robbie have for you? FUn stuff and photographs?

Hi Kat!!!

Morning O fam! It is gorgeous here as well Chris. I bought some daffodil bulbs yesterday and I will plant them today! I sat out on the patio and chatted with my sister and the birds were so fun to watch. Note to self- put zoom lens on camera and get back out for more pics. I am now just contingent at my old place of work- that means I get to talk via laptop or phone for mentoring the people that are taking over my kiddo's. I am so excited to have some time off to put my house together and decide what my next steps are! Scrapping some pics today- or perhaps tomorrow when it rains!

Morning ladies... Sunny here today, but I really doubt that we will get the warm temps that you have been experiencing Chris. I spent most of the afternoon working on my calendars, my butt is sore from sitting os long in front of the computer!! I really need to invest in a better chair with more cushion on the seat. Got my shopping done and made a nice supper, Ham with scallop potatoes yummy ! Today I think I will do a stew in the Crock Pot, I am really loving the comfort foods right now.

Chris - My goodness the school situation seems just crazy!! I am not sure what the answer would be to end all of this nonsense but what they are doing right now doesn't seem to be a good idea! I am truly glad that I am not a young person going to school right now, it was easier to deal with a couple of bullies than to put up with this baloney!! Hoping that Heather and Mason are both much better today, Mason has play school today and it would be a shame if he had to miss it. DD said it was nice and warm there yesterday also, but they could not go out to play on the deck, all the chairs and toys have been put away for the winter  I think that they were going to go to the little zoo they have in their town so Mason could feed the goats when his Daddy got home. He sure loves the animals and would go to the zoo everyday if he could.

Laurie - How nice to see your pretty face here again!! Sounds like life is pretty good for you right now! Hope you manage to get your house put together the way you want and enjoy the time off ! You deserve it! Keep us in the loop about your future plans!!

Claire - I wonder what Robbie will have in store for you next week? I bet it includes taking lots of pictures with his new camera! Hope he doesn't wear you out and that you have fun together!!

Oh my how did you know I was lurking? :noidea:

Usually I just stop in a read a few. I never can find something to say, or add to the conversation.

Today, however, the talk about what's going on in Chris's kids school has me :loco:. What is going on in the world today? It's stressful enough with midterms, finals, SAT's, now they have to worry about going to the bathroom? I am so glad my kids are grown.

Nothing much going on at my house today. I went to my usual Thursday morning business meeting, which was uneventful, then I had to take an arterial doppler because my feet have been getting cold for no reason.

Chris, my hubby cooks most of the time. He enjoys making the meals he sees on his cooking shows. Now if he would watch a little more of the home improvement shows I might get my kitchen and bathroom remodeled.

Good morning ladies! I'm popping in for a minute before I get some work done (I work at home).

Chris - wish we had those temps. It's in the low 50's here today and Taz likes the kitchen door open a bit so he can run in and out so it makes it a bit chilly in here but it's worth it to not have to run upstairs and open and shut the door everytime he wants out. My office is in the basement.

See, Trudy....I'm not lurking :)
