It's my dad's 84th birthday today. Go, Dad, go!
#birthday

I have to make sure I call him later. He is definitely awake now but I'd scare my mom to death if the phone rang this early.

How was everyone's day yesterday? Mine was pretty ok. Uneventful other than Scott being home for dinner. I never see him anymore so this was nice. Too bad we all got itchy with each other over whether nurses should place empathy on equal footing as skill. Who knew that would be a "taboo" topic?
Caitlyn was explaining that the TAS (theoretical and applied science) Dept didn't like the way the college's "vision statement" was written. As an LSW, Caitlyn thought they were wrong to say that nurses shouldn't have empathy as a focal point in education. I thought it should be balanced and the guys thought that empathy shouldn't be a focus. Somehow that debate spiraled way more than it should have. o_O:eek:#angry2

Heck, at least we weren't debating politics LOL!

I am home today, I think I am going to do some scrapping and catch up on tagging stuff. I should print out my dad's card and make sure I give him that call.

Have a fantastic day!

@bcgal00 you are so brave!! I get a little dizzy thinking about cutting more than the dead ends on my hair. It will be a lot easier for you to care for in the drier weather.
Ummmmmm- there is something very wrong in this thread. WHERE ARE THE PICTURES?????
Sure, sure, I want to see pics of your new haircut. But what about the dogs???? The dogs in sweaters!! I MUST SEE THAT!!!!!!
:D
They must look precious ♥

@LSlycord how did you do with the storm prep? Hope that by the time it reaches you, the winds and rains have died down a lot. We are supposed to get the remnants over the weekend. Oh no, poor Shaun. After all of the appts and surgery, he still isn't feeling right :( Tell him I am thinking of him.
PS: Weren't you supposed to go to the grocery store on Tuesday? *G*

*waving hi to everyone*

Good morning. Greeting you from the office this morning. Temp is good...73* but too much wind and rain to sit on the lanai. No complaints however...we will be windy the rest of the day and rain will continue off and on but for us, everything is fine.

I think I was supposed to make it to the grocery store on Tuesday. But, drumroll please, I did get there on Wednesday. (Yesterday was Wednesday, correct?) Didn't buy too much. Think I'll probably trek back over there today...they have turkeys at $0.49 per pound. I was going to buy eggs but they are $4.99 a dozen. I opened the carton to check and right off the bat, the first egg was broken. I put them back down...if I need to pay $4.99 a dozen, I don't need to do the employees' jobs of getting the broken eggs out of the carton. I guess I was in a mood...and I still have eggs. I'm sure later this week I will go pay the $4.99 and rearrange all of the eggs so that I have a dozen that aren't broken. Maybe wait until tomorrow to make my trek...we will see what the weather looks like.

I am going to work on my layout for challenge 4. I have a plan to do all 7 challenges this month! We will see how I do.

Have a good day all!

@faerywings well sounds like dinner was interesting. #clap#doctor
I am on Cait's side, I want my nurses to have empathy (although not at the expense of skills). Happy birthday to your dad! Thanks for the good wishes about Shaun.

@bcgal00 the haircut sounds good. I'm thinking about doing that with mine. I need to find a good hair stylist. I so miss mine from back home but it has been 3 1/2 years...that's probably long enough. I'm with Chris...can't wait to see the dogs dressed in sweaters.

Well, winter temps have arrived... low's in the 30's and high's only in the 40's for the next 5-7 days. Brrr... Plan on staying home until next Tuesday - when I have to go to the Base to pick up a Rx refill. Had fun Tuesday at lunch with the gals. It was in the 70's... felt like summer so I got a couple of errands ran also. Yesterday, I donated 2 large bags of books to the Friendship store and donated 10 books to the Senior Citizen library..... slowly but surely winnowing down the number of books I have.

Still having to limit time on the computer... but it seems to be improving slightly as long as I don't over-do. My heatable neck pillow and Dr Scholl's back massager are live savers especially by afternoon. Will pop-in here when I can. Sorry no personals yet.

Good morning ladies. Had a long photo walk yesterday. It was incredible. I got tons of photos of hawks, eagles, swans, some large birds but I don't know yet what they are yet and a few nice scenery shots. Everyone is complaining about the cold but not me :) I stood in a foot of snow, my boots filled up with snow, but I didn't care. There was no way I was going to miss the 3 hawks chowing down on lunch and photographing their interactions. I saw a white owl but she flew away before I could get a photo.

Today I will stay home and do some chores and CT work and then take the dogs to the park later. Its cold today, high of only 19°. I will bundle up.

@faerywings My avatar has the new haircut. It is super short in the back and cut around the ear, about an inch long, and then a bit longer on the top with a bit of a long bang. I like it, the only thing I'll do differently next time is let the side burns grown a bit longer. Having it short is effortless, I don't have to do anything to it except a bit of pomade if I want. Here are pics of the dogs, you can't see Remi's pearl buttons along the back but they make it so cute and girly.

Just to heat up the dinner debate - I'm with the guys. (I have high testosterone levels LOL)

Hmm let me try and explain what I mean ... empathy either you have or you haven't.
Skills can be learned. And we need people with more skills!

Heard on the news the other day, that there are serious problems at nurse's school here in Sweden, that an increasingly amount of students can't finish the education, cuz they lack the knowledge needed. Like having problems grasping the skills to calculate the right amount of medicine to give and things like that. I sure as %&¤/ prefer my nurse to know what (s)he's doing, rather than (s)he being nice to me.

Life stinks at the moment. I'm guessing every planet is in retrograde. Or ... we've changed time. Can someone PLEASE stop that nonsense! Messes up my life twice a year.
