The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Hi my lovely O-Fam! Its sure feels GREAT to be here right now, This past week has been very disorienting, I had to really think about what day it is! The schools in WM are closed all week and Halloween is now rescheduled for Nov 5. All of my cleaning clients have been w/o power so I have been out of work all week.
All I can say is how happy that we have power and nowhere critical to drive. My BFF says that she is not expected to have power until the 9th. Her IL's live in the same town so they have been showering there.

My Parents still don't have power but have been staying with my brother who does. My dad drove up to their lake house in PA but my mom doesn't have enough gas in her car to get there. Yesterday there was only 1 gas station with gas and able to pump in town and the police had to close part of the road and the line was over 1 mile long.

And to think-- we got off *easy.* SMH.

I can't stand the news/photos of the shore. The gas fires from where houses were. And not trailers, but beach mansions.... unfreakingbelievable.

I am so grateful that my family and friends are safe, if a bit cold and cooped up. I am so grateful that the loss of life has been as low as it has been reported (even though I am sure it will go higher). I am so proud of my fellow NJ-ians and our NJ Attitude! And I am grateful that our Governor -- who I disagree with on many political issues-- is a strong character and pulls no punches when it comes to helping out the state.

I am also grateful that it is November 1 which means lots of new challenges here at the O!!!!!!!

Hi Chris ! It sure feels great to have you open the daily-Os today ! :)

I'm so geographically far, and yet I feel for you and your fellow NJ-ians and ppl from the neighbouring states also. I'm so happy you're safe and sound and so is your family. I can't begin to imagine how stunned you all must be feeling ...
I hope everything gets back to normal soon enough so you can resume your lives, go back to work etc...
(((hugs)))

Here, nov 1st is bank holiday so I'm currently sitting comfortably with my laptop in my lap keeping me warm, checking out the new challenges and talking with DH who came back this morning from a 3days business trip. Nothing special or exciting but it feels good and cozy :)

everyone have a great day and month !

Morning O fam- my day off- car delivered to the repair shop and I am home for the day- well until I get the car, or maybe I will wait till the morning. The sun is shining and I am wishing that all would be well with the coast- but alas that is going to take time. Watching the lines of people trying to walk to where they can take a bus to get to work or family, the lines for gas, the carpool rules- wow- unbelievable- all are in my prayers.

Good Morning Chris and Marie... It is so good to see your smiling face here again Chris! I can't imagine how sad it is to watch how much destruction has happened to your State!! You must feel like you are in the middle of some kind of a disaster movie and now its time for the final scene and the happy ending to begin??? How will everyone manage to recover from all of this? Like you say, you have so much to be thankful for! We are here for you sweetie

Marie - Lucky you to have a holiday today! Enjoy the warm and cozy feeling for the entire day!! Have fun with all the new challenges going on at the "O" this month!!

I am working the closing shift today, so won't be home until 6:30 or so, its already dark out :mmph: We had only 40 trick or treaters last night, every year the numbers go down, so many activities for the kids to do around the district, which is great!! Lots of fireworks and Haunted Houses to see. So we have a ton of candy left...Not a good thing :hungry: I will be taking most of it to work today or else hubby and I will be 20lbs heavier shortly LOL. Have a great November 1st everyone

Morning Laurie... we posted at the same time. How nice that the sun is shining in your neck of the woods!! :rain: here for us again today. Enjoy your day off!! I am jealous!!

Oh Chris....I was watching the morning show this morning and got a more close up look at the damage on the shore line in NJ....I cried!! Those poor people have nothing to go back to. That one town they said will cost more than $7 million to just clean it up!! And insurance will not pay for most of the damage to the houses and properties. THAT'S HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I have seen the damage around our state (which was declared a state of emergency yesterday) and it seems so small in comparison....and the people who did not evacuate!!! I can't believe they stayed!!

This country is just being hit harder and harder by natural disaster in one place or another. So sad :(

Well Trick or Treat is over and I am happy...I had some extremely wild and hyper
mood_hyper.gif
children on my hands yesterday..thought I was going to pull out every last hair!!!!!!!!!!!!! :help: AND THAT WAS WITH NO CANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AACCKKKK!! I refused to let them have any of it after T&T!!!

It was still very windy and cold here yesterday...by T&T time it was 38 outside...so we went to the mall....do not want sick kids...but that was aweful...I think there were 12 million kids in that mall...and 24million parents!!! :mmph:

Okay sweet ladies....I am off to clean the house a bit....have a fabulous day!!!!!!!!

it's the gas lines...and what people turn into when things unravel...that worries me. i just heard that there are gangs of people (i've heard them being called "wolf packs) going around looting and stealing drugs and groceries at Coney Island. no doubt in lots of places. i hope everyone will take steps to prepare for disasters. it takes very little time for things to descend into chaos, the government can't be relied on and shouldn't be entirely relied on, particularly not in the early days of something like this.

Nana, Halloween at the Mall sounds like a nightmare!

Laurie, the SUN is shining there?? we still are gray, raining, cloud-covered. enjoy the rays!

Marie, it must be strange to watch all this hurricane stuff from afar!

i've been up since 2:45. bleh. i tried to take a nap a few hours ago, but i couldn't fall asleep. i'm gonna be a BEAR later today. :mmph: i promise to steer clear of The O!

Well, Sandy is already yesterday's news here in Sweden. Media is sick really. The only thing they said today was how this will effect the election ... or not.

I've had a great day today. John had an appointment with the physio therapist today - and he forced me to exercise too. Hopefully, I'll get out of bed tomorrow LOL (Which I have to, because I have a dr app tomorrow morning 8am.) John is like a totally different kid. Happy, talking with us, enjoys his exercise. We really have fun together again. *happy mommy*

Dad is fine - even though we all know it's just a matter of time really. My sister is doing well too. Everyone's fine ... weird LOL

Personals-- from yesterday!
Happy Belated Halloween! It didn't feel like it here, but I really got a kick out of seeing the pics of costumes on FB. NJ will have Halloween on Monday. I did have a friend come over with her three little ones in costume yesterday. I think they were getting a bit antsy!

Nana-very cute smilies! Always in the spirit! I have to go and find Jen's avi- is it of her belly??

Phyllis-- ahhhhh!! Snow????? Even snow/rain mix!! ACK!!!!

Trudy- I got a kick out of phyllis's words too! snain and junque. Junque sounds so much classier, doesn't it?

Eva-- so happy that you and your family are doing good!!! Don't you hate it when you actually have a good day and then worry about when the shoe is going to drop on you?
Wonderful news about your sister-- hugs to you, her and your dad. And I saw in today's Ooo's John's doing really good too. Happy happy news!!!!!

Nancy-- sending good thoughts to you. Do you have power yet?
The gas lines are incredible! My mom had to wait over 2 hours this morning.

The breezy pt fires were bad- and then Mantaloking (I know I spelled that wrong but you know where I mean LOL) ones. Eeerie.

Heather- hope you bundled up and up and up to go out last night. Hope that Chloe feels better too.

Ona- I am sure that the entire state would appreciate that Aussie sun and love!!!!We had the surfing waves for sure. Amazingly- I didn't see any surfers out there prior to the storm. Usually there is always a few down the shore ignoring evac. orders.Too cold maybe? or maybe they took the forecasts seriously?

Linda S-- Can I move to IA with you?? But you get bad winters don't you?
... anyone else want to take me in?? :D:D:D

Laurie- fingers are crossed that the job starts to settle down with more normal hours!

Phyllis- its cold and dreary here too. The sun has tried to peak out but not very successfully. I could use the sun here for sure!

I heard a lot of towns were putting on curfews last night-- some like Jersey City have inner city and safety issues. Others were concerned about looting with the yachts that were stranded in the middle of roads. How insane is that? A curfew to prevent the looting of yachts?? Mind-boggling, right?

Dumtpy- ty for you good throughts too- I checked in with one of my cleaning clients- they have a house right on the beach near Seaside and she hasn't heard anything about it yet. My brother has a friend with a house on LBI- I hope that they have good news too.

Nana- me too, me too.... heartbreaking, its all I can say. The only comparison that I can think of would be like if a hurricane blew down Disney World. Most people have some sort of good memory or story about that. And the economy- The shore is a HUGE part of NJ's economy and the shore towns-- tourism is where it is at. I am really proud that all of the people that I saw interviewed kept saying that they will rebuild, that they have to rebuild....

You are one brave Nana to take the kids to the mall for T or T! Sounds like a zoo! How do you even keep track of your own kids!! LOL

Hugs and love to all of you!!!!

Don't you hate it when you actually have a good day and then worry about when the shoe is going to drop on you?

Good to know I'm not the only one thinking like that. I can't really enjoy feeling fine ... like I'm gonna jinx it.
