Guess what?????
I have today off from work!
I was on the schedule but the center has a bunch of new interns starting so Lauren offered I could take the day off. I am working tomorrow and have Wilderness First Aid Certification on Sat/Sun. I thought about needing the money (septic people are coming today :bawling: ) and then I thought about how I needed some sanity. Both are extremely lacking in my life but Sanity>Money ruled my decision. :D

I had a good day but a long one yesterday. The field trip was scheduled longer than usual. You'd think an extra 45 minutes wouldn't feel that much longer but it did. Remember how I said that I had the rotation schedule written up and I wanted to do the upper stream? That got tossed as soon as the kids got off of the bus. Instead of 4 groups, the school wanted the kids to stay in three groups so that threw one part off. Plus, one of the students had an orthopedic boot- no way was she going to be able to make the hike to the upper stream. A little rearranging did the trick so we were able to get the first group to the lower stream and the other two to the upper stream. How many kids "fell" in, you ask? Two kids went almost all of the way in. Several went in calf-deep deep and almost all of them went in ankle-deep. The teachers and I rolled our eyes at them.l LOL
Not that the kids cared at all.

I spoke to my dad and he is feeling better. All of the side effects and potential problems seem to have skipped him by. *knocks wood over and over* My mom seemed better (a tiny bit calmer which is *huge* for her LOL) when I talked to her too.

I want to take advantage of the day off and get as much done as possible for the shower. I need to order plates/cutlery, table runners, balloons... and what else? Print the games. Wrap the wine glasses in the organza bags. Order the dress that I picked out online. It's from Shein and I philosophically hate fast fashion, it is nice to be able to afford a dress that I will only wear once. I still need shoes but those I need to try on.
What else am I missing? Food/drinks/champagne but that's later.

If- and it's a big if--
IF
the sun comes out and I have time later on, I would love to work in the garden.

OH!! I forget to tell you, there has been a TJ sighting. dance4 Gary saw TJ and a smaller but identical toad. The smaller one I named T3 (Tif~> Tif Jr/TJ ~> Tif Jr Jr/ T3 )
Yes, I name my outside friends. Doesn't everyone? :rotfl:
On that happy note, I am going to sign off.
xoxo!

@faerywings It must have been all the great sanity vibes that you got the other day helping you win out over the septic tank, and putting it that way, makes it sound like an even better choice. See, told ya, you had that job confidence down. I can't believe anyone actually thought a group of kids would stay dry when presented with a stream. Good grief, I would have been in there with them. We don't name the toads/frogs, they are too transient ;). I do have a bunch of tadpoles that rode a waterlily into the water pot, but Mother Nature dresses them all the same so can't tell who's Tom, Dick or Harriet.

The clanking noise you are hearing is me rattling the chains I attached myself to the desk with. While I would much rather babble her, scrap, or hang out in the garden, it's finance time. Trying to book accommodations for Key West and I think they require half up front so I need to be scrupulously up to date. I will do my morning walk about in the garden with my coffee however.

@mimes1 Still sending normal blood sugar vibes to Mark? Does he get weird when his sugar drops very low? My kids still laugh at the time Gary thought he was Patchy the Pirate. It was *not* funny at the time but looking back- hysterical! He was super and was talking in Patchy's voice (Patchy from Spongebob). I was trying to give him a juice box and he was cursing like a pirate: "**** the juice, I want cookies, arrgggh!" Scott was 5, maybe 6 yo, and ran for the cookies.
It's really funny, 20+ years later.
I haven't used the cold laser but my hairdresser has one for her dog and told me that it helped his inflammation. She told me the brand but I can't remember it now, sorry. She got a Pen-style laser and uses it on her hands too. I hear ya on how expensive it can be to care for your furbabies, but how can you not? ♥

@vickyday I feel like we are addicted to games, we have so many and keep getting more.
Sooo glad your stomach is feeling better! *fingers crossed for good weather for the family!!* You will have an amazing time all together. Is the cabin ready to Mark's standards? :D

@bcgal00 I loved every one of your zoo photos but the red panda was my favorite! The ducklings were adorable too!
Good luck with all of the yard work, you and Jen have been busy.

@BrightEyes I'll send you some of the cool and damp weather we are having - it is 54, damp, and dreary. That must have been unnerving to see the trees blowing like that!
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of getting rid of books-- only to get credit to get *more* books? Bwuhahaha!!
Good luck with the carpet cleaners today

@AK_Tracy Sorry no sunshine to send today but the kids were singing You Are My Sunshine -- over and over annnd overrrrr yesterday. It is currently stuck in my head. I'll gladly pass the Sunny Music along to you- take it, please!! :lalala:
Lucy is adorable and of course the sofa is hers, it matches her fur, why else would you have picked that color? :D
Whisky lies on top of the sofa back like a cat. A 55 lb cat. *blinks* She is also weird puppy.

@Cherylndesigns Thinking of you and all of the family today. Do not feel bad bout being semi-MIA. You *have to* put yourself first. Take good care of yourself and I'll be holding your hand when you sing happy birthday to Chuck. It's going to be really tight so you can feel it from NJ.

@JeanneMN Do you watch Abbott Elementary? The librarian in it wears the kookiest clothes and hats. Makes me think of you :D
The Librarians in the game are named "Gertrude" and "Wilford." LOL!
Thank you for the garden prayers!!!
The woman who trained me at the stream asked me how I felt leading and I told her that she did a fab job teaching me. And that I was so excited when I found a case building caddisfly and that they are my favorite macro. Busted out laughing at myself- who would have thought that 2 months ago I'd have a favorite macro? :floorlaugh:

Scrapping styles changing is a fascinating topic for me. I don't think I ever had a specific style since I use so many of the designers here as a Cheery O. I enjoy fantasy and AJ pages the best and I struggle with using stock photos for more traditional/clustery pages. But I can do both styles. Clean pages are the hardest for me. Always want to add more. More of anything More of everything. LOL

@MariJ snow pages - I don't like anything snowy or cold either. Give me sun and sand and ocean waves any day :D
I love the flower commentary and the "management" quote is hysterical!

Gotta run, Scott is stopping over for some coffee in a few :D

PS: Gary just brought me yesterday's mail. JBJ is on the cover of my AARP magazine. No more Tiger Beat :crying1: Hhahaha!

Good morning everyone! It's a beautiful day here, not a cloud in the sky. It's supposed to be hot and no rain in the forecast for a week. I hope to get outside and put all my plants back on the porch after our power washing yesterday. The glass windows look great and all the algae is gone on the dormers, but the vinyl windows on the porch look terrible. It's been on my list to take them all down and clean them, and this elevated that project to the top of the list. Our porch has 10 groups vinyl windows of 4 panels each. It will be a process - yesterday I completed two sections. Today I want to do at least three more sections. Along with the panels I need to clean the tracks too. The power washers said they could do the sidewalk and driveway also for a mere $150 . Mark was all gung ho to do it and I said absolutely not. I can do the ground level power washing myself (he can pay me $150!) Power washing can be pretty therapeutic too. I would have done the house myself too if Mark would have agreed to hold the ladder! :giggle4:
Ike did a little better last night on the stairs. He wants to sleep on our bed so badly and he initiated the effort to get up on the bed but I'm so scared he'll get hurt getting down off the bed. So he has a little nest next to our bed. He doesn't understand. He's spent his whole life sleeping with us. I saw an ad for a human size dog bed for doggie and human - I'd actually use that!
Mark did not have a low blood sugar last night! Hurray! First night in over a week. His morning numbers are such that he can start the new insulin regime this morning. He's skipping PT this morning though, he doesn't feel well enough for that, but his numbers are moving in the right direction so that's a big win.
Hope you all have a good day!!

This totally made me laugh!!! A whole generation of Tiger Beat gals and boy pin ups now getting AARP mag!

Does he get weird when his sugar drops very low? My kids still laugh at the time Gary thought he was Patchy the Pirate.
Hah! Mark goes into character on a fairly regular basis - but his normal behavior for low blood sugar is quiet and grumpy.

@Cherylndesigns more hugs coming at you this morning!

You crack me up! Love your sense of humor. This made me laugh out loud. Mark says "Why are you laughing at your computer?" Even after all these years I don't think he always gets that there's real life friendships on the other side of these screens. :beatingheart:

Off to go clean some vinyl windows - will check back later!

Well, I'm more than a little cracked myself, so glad I could help you. Mark & my husband, would get along well, hubs doesn't get it either. This one threw him for a loop, a friend of mine from my previous home and her husband are leaving Nebraska this morning and heading with their camper to Minnesota. When I sent her a list of all the places to visit, she said, we're coming there to meet you not for sightseeing. We are going to meet IRL on this weekend at a beautiful state park not far from me. I am so jazzed, it just blows his mind.

Real quick in and out. Carpet Cleaners will be here in just a little while. Just finished moving the last of the lamps, small tables and other breakables from the master bedroom and family room. Almost forgot to put the trash bin out this morning until I heard the trash truck coming up the street!!!

Spent a hour on the massager last evening. I got a few of the YA series books packaged up for the garage sale. Yes, @faerywings , it does sound crazy to turn books in for book store credit and get more books.... but only get 1/4 value in credit then spend 1/2 value for the books I get. End up with less books! :rotfl: And they will be books I would want to keep and re-read.

Need to close the house up... it is already hotter outside than inside. CYL

Good Morning Everyone!!!!
I can see the sun!!! She blinded me when I walked out of the bedroom this morning. Here's hoping she sticks around. My internet is still being goofy so no emoji or photos are loading. grrrrr. Its state wide issue across all internet providers too so I dont know what's going on. But darn it they're killing my time with friends.

Yes, I name my outside friends. Doesn't everyone?
Ummmm nope, this just confirms the cray-cray. :floorlaugh: Yep, totally certifiable. Good think I am too :giggle4: (certifiable anyway)
The clanking noise you are hearing is me rattling the chains I attached myself to the desk with. While I would much rather babble her, scrap, or hang out in the garden, it's finance time. I love you Twin and your descriptions and oh this made me laugh so much!!!!! I just see Jacob Marley with Ebineezer hovering over with a scowl.
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of getting rid of books-- only to get credit to get *more* books? Bwuhahaha!!
Good luck with the carpet cleaners today
Wait what????? You can never have too many books!!!! And if you get rid of one, that's permission to get two new ones to replace them! Dont talk crazy!!!! :floorlaugh: My kindle app told me last night I had read 39 books so far this year. I'm off to a good start.
Sorry no sunshine to send today but the kids were singing You Are My Sunshine -- over and over annnd overrrrr yesterday. It is currently stuck in my head. I'll gladly pass the Sunny Music along to you- take it, please!!
Yeah, Thanks (sarcasm). Soon as I read this the song started going in my head. Thanks Chris!! Thanks. (all sarcasm as I sit here laughing)
PS: Gary just brought me yesterday's mail. JBJ is on the cover of my AARP magazine. No more Tiger Beat
:wow2:WHAT NO! I wanted to watch the end of JBJ documentary but internet said nope. But its crazy to think he's in his 60's now. Like how did that happen?????
Mark was all gung ho to do it and I said absolutely not. I can do the ground level power washing myself (he can pay me $150!) Power washing can be pretty therapeutic too. I would have done the house myself too if Mark would have agreed to hold the ladder! :giggle4:
I love this! Why dont they pay us for the jobs we do they would have paid another to do? Like I could visit all of you and have money left over if that was the case. This was so funny to me and so how I am too. You want how much? No I will do it myself. A good power wash is fun. If the sun is out.
Mark did not have a low blood sugar last night! Hurray! First night in over a week.
This is wonderful!!! Yeah that he had a good night. I hope he figures out the insulin and gets back to normal.

I had a thought I wanted to share and by the time I got here in my message its totally left my mind. Might be lack of coffee. Might be ..... yeah lack of coffee. :coffee1::coffeedrinker:

Just a quick in and out. I have to keep my mind occupied today. I wanted to share with all of you that this day has started out so beautifully. Chuck and Roger (SIL) have been going to breakfast every Sunday for close to 4 years. They always went to the same place and Roger told us last night at dinner that we were all going there for breakfast for Chuck's birthday.

We got there at 7 AM, which was "their time". For those of you who don't know yet, I'm a night owl and like to sleep in. I happily got up at 6 this morning so I would be ready to leave at 6:50. (Roger is very specific. LOL). I had everything laid out last night and took a shower right before I went to bed. I was actually ready about five minutes early, so I walked up to their house.

Roger ordered a big plate of pancakes, put butter on them and they sat in front of "Chuck's chair" the whole time we were in the restaurant. We all toasted Chuck with our drinks. It was very moving and I was so touched that Roger thought of this idea.

Just wanted all of you to know and I'm doing well. We're having a family dinner this evening, too. Thanks for all of your love and good thoughts. :heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred:

Well, today has been a fun sit and do nothing. I put on shorts and my halibut white legs scared the sun away. Its been windy, cloudy and rain off and on. Yep, great day to stay inside. Played board game (el dorado) with my youngest (15) and beat him soundly. It was great fun. :floorlaugh: Ovens heating, dinners mixed. I'm still in shorts but I did put my socks on:lalala:Come back sunshine!!

Thanks so much, Tracy. It was just wonderful and we all got together tonight at Adrienne and Roger's house for a family dinner. Of course, we left "Chuck's chair" open. We laughed so hard about memories of when the grandkids were little and used to spend every weekend at our house. It was just wonderful and so great to reminisce. :heartpumpred: :heartpumpred:

Well, in 4 more minutes (my time) this day that I thought would be so difficult is going to be over. It ended up not being as painful as I had anticipated because of my wonderful family and my O family. My youngest GS, Asher even FactTimed me this afternoon and said that he wanted to tell Papa Chuck Happy Birthday. He was just here, but had to go home on Tuesday. I was so thrilled to talk to him and we talked for about a half an hour. He got his hair cut, radically, since he got home and wanted to show me his new haircut too. I'll post pics tomorrow. Thank you ALL for helping me get through this day.

We had AMAZING weather for the family gathering this weekend! ALL 3 days! The cabin was finally finished to Mark's satisfaction but not before the kids arrived. He also still had to work on the trails for the 4-wheelers and Jeep and side-by-side. But he got it all done! The kids had a blast! We were both pooped out by Friday evening! My tummy behaved itself for the most part this weekend, too!
