*checks clock* Caitlyn should be back in NJ by now. Her ship was supposed to dock at 7 am. If she isn't back in NJ water, she is close. I am patting myself on the back that I didn't miss her too much. It probably helped that I was busy almost the entire time and that I texted her pictures of the rats each day. She will get to see how good they were as soon as she has cell service again.

I am disappointed in one section of the table. I used Minwax brand of stain/poly the first time around and that went on really well. Walmart and Home Depot didn't have that brand so I used the one from Home Depot, Varathane, and I am not that happy with how it turned out. It is probably user-error, in part. Two of the three sections came out really smooth, but the last one has a ton of bubbles. I think maybe I should have cleaned the brush before I started on that last section because it kept going on very thick. And my painting instincts tell me to "brush it out." Wrong! I ended up dipping the brush into the mineral spirits to smooth it out so it is definitely better but not perfect. I also used a Gloss Finish but it isn't all that glossy.
Any tips, Trudy, on how to make it look nicer?

I have nothing specific going on here today. I should run over to the FP but I don't want to have to leave the house. Not for any reason, I am just feeling lazy LOL
I need to clean up all of the drop clothes and put away the paint and stain cans today. If it dries out a bit outside, I have some more leaves that need to be cleared out of the yard and patio. And of course, I am going to want to hear all about Cait's trip.

Wishing everyone a very happy day today!

Kay- that must have been one heck of a book to be able to stay up that late. What was it? I was just thinking last night how long it has been since I wasn't able to put a book down...one more chapter...
I guess it was a very good thing that DD got the day for babysitting wrong  Have fun this afternoon with the g-grands.
Oh wow, that wind must have been strong to blow over the metal chairs. Very smart to wait to get new plants until the temps are more stable.

Trudy- how was the hike? DEET is my BFF. hahaha! I am sure that no one was blinded by your legs. At least I hope not!
I hope that you were able to get all of the errands done yesterday too- what a full day!

Good Morning everyone! It is another sunny but a bit on the cool side morning. I had to fill the hummingbird feeder first thing this morning. I just filled it yesterday afternoon!! There must have been a lot of hungry birds around supper time! Today I am staying home from the pool, my legs feel like two blocks of cement! The hike although very beautiful was a real tough one, straight up and straight down, I was sure glad I had my hiking poles!! Especially on the way down! My legs were shaking by the time we hit the bottom! Then off to Michaels and Costco and I was sure glad when I arrived home! Put all the groceries etc. away and made myself an Ice Coffee and sat out on the front porch to relax for a bit. I have to run an errand today and pick up some Epicure spice that I ordered and hopefully see my sister and pick up some eggs. We usually meet at my other sisters and have a coffee together and a little visit so it is nice to see them every week! I hope to get some scrapping done this morning and of course look forward to my facetime call from Heather and Hunter!

Chris - That is strange that your last section of stain got so many bubbles! I guess the only thing you can do to make it look better is to give it a light sanding again and re-apply with a clean brush. Did you shake the stain? That is a no no, as stain should only be stirred. But I am sure you already know that! Yes Minwax is a much better product for sure, but you gotta use what you can get sometimes! Also some gloss finishes need a lot of coats applied before they really look glossy :mmph: I think that is why I like to use the two in one polyurethane by minwax it goes on nicely and I don't have to apply a finish to it. I have to tackle my table top one of these days too, but not looking forward to the sanding!! I hope you have a nice trip to the FP today and you get to have a lovely talk with the nice lady that works there! Can't wait to hear all about Cait's trip! Bet she had a blast!!

Kay - OMG I can't imagine staying up that long to read a book! Good thing the grands did not need you that day!

Felis - Sure hope that your weather has stayed nice and sunny and you can spend some time outside in your garden and walking the dogs!

Rae - glad to hear that things are going smoothly for you! It was a good decision to give up your CT, although we miss you here very much! You have been doing a lot of beautiful scrapping and I am so glad that you are happier now! Things are still not perfect, but sounds like they are very much improved for your family!

Ok I will grab a coffee and try to get a page done this morning, before my busy afternoon of running errands again. Have a great Thursday ladies!!
