Happy International Women's Day! We all deserve and an amazing pat on the back for doing all that we do, every day, day in and day out. :first:
Do you have any particular women that you celebrate and honor?
My mom comes to mind immediately. Even though I tease her (and complain) I wouldn't be who I am nor would Cait without her. I adore Elizabeth Warren and Tammy Duckworth- 2 Senators who will not stand down because they are women. Sen Duckworth is pregnant and is trying to change the rule that unless you are on the Senate Floor, you cannot vote. She asked if she would have to breastfeed her baby on the floor to make a vote. I would love to see that as she stands on her prosthetic legs. (She lost her legs after her helicopter was shot down in Iraq)
I also adore Malala, Laverne Cox, Tina Fey, Lucille Ball, and of course, Michelle Obama. Have you seen the video of her dancing with that adorable little girl who was photographed starting at her portrait? It is all over Twitter. OMG-- I love Michelle!
I also treasure all of you, my friends and O-Fam!
So yeah. yesterday. We got snow. I would say at least 2 feet? It is insane! Thank goodness that the majority of the snow from last week had melted because to add this amount on top, it would have been utter madness. Not much else to say about it. We shoveled and shoveled and shoveled some more. Gary had to cut down some branches that were threatened to pull wires off of the house. Thankfully, we didn't lose power because the generator wouldn't start. The gas had gone bad and the carburetor needed cleaning. Of course, there was nowhere open to get anything.
My neighbor down the street invited us over for some chili and a game in front of their fire. The kids and I went down and played a really funny card game- Amonia? We were calling it Ammonia. at any rate, it was a good game and it was nice to get out of the house.
Today will be more shoveling. I am obviously not going to DMV today. I don't know if I could get there if it is open. I know many State Offices are closed or opening late today.
Maybe I will go tomorrow. Yuck.
On a happy note- the sun is shining and there isn't any wind so it won't be terrible shoveling. Oh on another happy note, I saw two foxes playing in the snow yesterday. I was looking out of my kitchen window and I thought that I saw the yellow lab from up the street who gets out on occasion. But when I looked closer, it "separated" and I saw two fluffy tails, then and they scampered into the woods. I kept looking and looking to see them again but no luck. I would have never seen them if it hadn't been for them standing out against the snow. Maybe we will have baby foxes someday too.
Have a happy day, lOvely ladies! xoxo!
