Happy International Women's Day! We all deserve and an amazing pat on the back for doing all that we do, every day, day in and day out. :first:
Do you have any particular women that you celebrate and honor?
My mom comes to mind immediately. Even though I tease her (and complain) I wouldn't be who I am nor would Cait without her. I adore Elizabeth Warren and Tammy Duckworth- 2 Senators who will not stand down because they are women. Sen Duckworth is pregnant and is trying to change the rule that unless you are on the Senate Floor, you cannot vote. She asked if she would have to breastfeed her baby on the floor to make a vote. I would love to see that as she stands on her prosthetic legs. (She lost her legs after her helicopter was shot down in Iraq)
I also adore Malala, Laverne Cox, Tina Fey, Lucille Ball, and of course, Michelle Obama. Have you seen the video of her dancing with that adorable little girl who was photographed starting at her portrait? It is all over Twitter. OMG-- I love Michelle!

I also treasure all of you, my friends and O-Fam!

So yeah. yesterday. We got snow. I would say at least 2 feet? It is insane! Thank goodness that the majority of the snow from last week had melted because to add this amount on top, it would have been utter madness. Not much else to say about it. We shoveled and shoveled and shoveled some more. Gary had to cut down some branches that were threatened to pull wires off of the house. Thankfully, we didn't lose power because the generator wouldn't start. The gas had gone bad and the carburetor needed cleaning. Of course, there was nowhere open to get anything.
My neighbor down the street invited us over for some chili and a game in front of their fire. The kids and I went down and played a really funny card game- Amonia? We were calling it Ammonia. at any rate, it was a good game and it was nice to get out of the house.

Today will be more shoveling. I am obviously not going to DMV today. I don't know if I could get there if it is open. I know many State Offices are closed or opening late today.
Maybe I will go tomorrow. Yuck.

On a happy note- the sun is shining and there isn't any wind so it won't be terrible shoveling. Oh on another happy note, I saw two foxes playing in the snow yesterday. I was looking out of my kitchen window and I thought that I saw the yellow lab from up the street who gets out on occasion. But when I looked closer, it "separated" and I saw two fluffy tails, then and they scampered into the woods. I kept looking and looking to see them again but no luck. I would have never seen them if it hadn't been for them standing out against the snow. Maybe we will have baby foxes someday too.

Have a happy day, lOvely ladies! xoxo!

Trudy- how was your hike? So happy that you were able to go. Woo hoo on the jeans! Is it something that happens as we get older that make jeans so uncomfortable and hard to fit?
Sending germ-free vibes to Heather's home~~~
You would be *very* proud of me that I didn't say "I told you so" (or at least not in as many words. I did hint a *tiny* bit... but nothing obnoxious LOL)

Rae- hugs and all of my love and healing thoughts to Bailey. I am hoping that each moment of each day helps her regain her strength and recovery on all levels. Thank you for the update, it gave me chills and hope. If you need any help at all here, just shout, ok?

jean- Did you end up with any snow? I hope not. We have plenty to share if you want any hahahaha!!!

Felis- that saying is spot on, it really feels like that. Much better than the one commonly used here- "A weight has been lifted from my shoulders." A stone fell away from my heart is exactly how I felt when I read Rae's update.

Good advice for Rae too - you need to keep your strength my friend-- Trudy will tell you that as she had to do that with Heather even when it must have felt impossible.

Jenn- I can send you some snow too if you want, I have plenty to share even if Jean wants some :p
The trainer is really awesome and I know that Whisky and I will learn a lot from her.

Felis- How nice that you actually do something to celebrate. Here in the US, it is mostly just for women to say nice things about each other, but not any sort of actual celebration or at least nothing that I have seen. I would prefer cosmetics over flowers too but if I am being honest, I would be happier with a plant for my gardens :D
makes me happy that my quote is useful

good late morning - again with the NJ transit being so sporatic this am my DH is home again but my son drove in and said it was not too bad but he takes the major roads which usually get cleared first. The sun is out and it is above freezing so there should be some good melting before I head to my son's to go to the Rock. Tonight my team is playing the Winnipeg Jets which is like one of the top 3 teams from the west. They are good. I always think a team has only so many goals and when my team scored 6 on Tuesday I wish they had saved some for tonight. But maybe I will be wrong. One of the positives from yesterday was my son got his room put together and it looks awesome. I like it better than what was in there. Still have some stuff to sort out but the couch in there now is L shaped and I take the long L and Luther take the rest but we are together and he likes that as do I. Make an awesome dinner. Pork ginger meatballs with soy marinade and cabbage over jasmine rice. It is like having Chinese take out. The snow went on from noon to after 7pm. It was gorgeous and we got between 8 to 12 inches. There were trees down and a few power outages but again we lucked out and had power. I have been making sure that everything is powered up so if we do lose I still have my electronics and can call out. Woke this am to a beautiful sun filled morning. We went out to a local park and OMgosh with the sun and the snow still on trees it was breath taking. But wow was it hard walking on the snow.

Chris my DH was why is there an international women day I was like really dude perhaps if there was equality we would not these days but until then. LOL he is trying and it is not like he does not do a lot around the house but sometimes. I loved that photo of the young girl staring at the Michele Obama portrait and actually meeting her and the dance. OMgosh just amazing. Good luck with all the shoveling. Bummer about your generator. We have one and I am sure it needs the same cleaning as yours since it has not been used since the hurricanes that knock out our power. Glad you did not lose power. Are you dogs loving the snow - can they be out while you are shoveling? Luther cant as we live on too busy of a street and he is so mad while they are out and he is in.

Trudy how was the hike?

Rae again want to say how happy I am that you are getting another chance to help Bailey.

Jean I am feeling the need for spring and baseball. As I was watching the Arizona Coyote hockey game they had lots of ads for the start of baseball.

Felis happy women's day! I love the thought of flowers and cosmetics. How fun. glad you had the extra time!

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. I won't be very active around here for awhile but do enjoy popping in for a minute during the day to glance thru the personals. I like to keep up on what you all are doing.

I'm exhausted and other than a bit of desk work and being at the hospital, I have no energy or time for much else. Yesterday, B was able to hold eye contact for a few more seconds than the day before. They wheeled her bed over to the window/couch area where Jen sleeps and they were able to sleep side by side last night which I think is comforting for both of them.

I'm going to go get a bit of desk work done now before heading back to the hospital.

Take care everyone. Keep the prayers and good thoughts coming.

Morning all of you wonderful ladies! Happy International Women's Day! I of course celebrate and honour my amazing Daughter, she is the strongest woman I know! Thinking today of my lovely Mother also, whom I miss each and every day! So many other woman come to mind as well. Diana (Princess of Wales), J.K. Rowling, Michelle Obama of course and I just adore Queen Elizabeth! The list is endless, so many strong and amazing women in the world! Of course all of you here are included!

Yesterday's hike was great! The weather was very blah and grey, the hike itself was enjoyable! We were gone over 3 hours and did 10 kilometres, lots of uphill and the view from the top where we had our lunch was amazing. I did not take too many photos as the skies were so grey, they just did not do the pics any justice. Surprisingly I am not stiff and sore today, but sure slept good last night with all that fresh air in my lungs. I sure could feel it in my legs by the time we were back at our vehicles! Today will be spent hopefully doing some scrapping and a few laps in the pool. Monday I actually got up to 30 laps done, so we will see how it goes today.

Chris - I love your list of amazing women! Yes I believe it is harder to find jeans as you get older, the styles are more for the younger ladies and I am not liking the style right now of the shorter legs on the jeans! OMG that is a lot of shovelling to have to do! You will have amazing arm muscles after all of that ! Glad to hear that the sun has come out for you, at least! How fun to see the foxes out in the snow, we don't have any here on the island that I know of, I will have to research that to see if there are any or not. We talked with Heather and Mason last night, he is feeling much better and will take the bus for the first time this morning, he is very excited about it LOL. So far Heather and Hunter have avoided the flu, keeping my fingers crossed that they keep it that way! I have never heard of the card game you were playing, I will have to look that one up too! See this is why I never get anything done, I am always looking things up :becky:

Nancy - We are most likely cross posting, but yes I did see that your Devils defeated the Canadians!! Thank you!! Gary and I were both cheering! LOL. Hope that you did not get any more bad weather, poor Luther getting pelted with the hail, can't say as I blame him for not liking that!

Rae - I too was crying tears of relief for you and your entire family! When my DD was in the hospital I practically lived there as they were so understaffed in the neurology ward. I bathed Heather and even changed her bedding and took her to her therapy for almost 3 months in that hospital. Thank goodness for Ronald McDonald house just across the street where I could go and get much needed rest, you really need to take care of you too! Give her a hug from me and tell her to be strong, she will get through this with help from all of you that love her so much! Let me know if you need any help with your challenges etc. You have so much on your plate right now, so don't hesitate to ask for some help here!

Jean - Your weather yesterday sounds much like ours was and now the grey skies are giving us some more rain. Did you get the snow that they were predicting? Hoping for a relaxing day for your and DH!

Felis - It is nice that you no longer have to facetime with your sister, being together in real life is so much better! I love the fact that you celebrate this special day!

Darn Rae we cross posted too I see, DD facetimed with me and so this has taken forever for me to get done. I hope you all have a good Thursday and Rae remember to get some rest once in a while please!

We only got a couple inches of snow. It started to accumulate while we were at the bird club meeting and it was slippery out. We've started eating out after, but last night decided to come straight home and I just made hamburgers. We had meat and a fresh loaf of artisan multigrain bread so it was good with pickles and olives and a slice of red onion.

I remember when it became International Women's Day in 1975. It was such a big deal and I have a stamp collection about it. Here in the US I don't think it's ever lived up to its potential but we'll just keep truckin' till there is no need. I too would honor my mother along with all the names everyone knows.

Chris, it's interesting reading your very upbeat post to realize how hard a day it was with all that snow, worry about power and so much shoveling. You must have been totally amazing. How nice to see the foxes!

Nancy, there you go with another delicious and different dinner. Sounds super. Glad you are OK with DS moving back in but nice that things are now arranged to your liking. Hope your snow goes quickly away. I think we're trying to get more just now. Baseball really is right around the corner with real games starting in about 3 weeks!

Rae, good to hear of any progress and of course we'll keep you all in our thoughts. But I'll add my voice to asking to please take care of yourself too.

Trudy, nice hike and view seem to have been good for you. Hope the pool today was also. Mason will seem such a big boy now taking the bus!

Felis, glad things went well on the trip and that Dad is better. Hope you've been enjoying the Women's Day too.

Hello, girls! Happy International Women's Day!
I'm totally agree for J.K. Rowling, and surprised that no one mentioned Oprah. For me I can also add Joy Adamson, her books formed most of my ideals, Nikki Reed and Katherine Heigl, two actress which use they fame to make eco impact at the world.
Other from the day My page was chosen for NBK Gallery Highlight, which is such a relief because previous month I don't have any layout featured at O newsletter! I was start thinking that learning of this new program is waste of time.

Chris, WOW, this is a huge amount of snow really impressive! Definitely deserve to be celebrated with chili and a game! When start to melt did you have a river around which can take so much water or street sewage will have to get it and can it do it?! Because with less snow here often we have floods. I hope you are safe! Aww, foxes are so adorable! So cool to see them! Yes, here we love to celebrate  ! Oh, please, do not mention flowers for the garden at all! Every summer I promise next year to do more flowers beds, but it's not only matter of wish but mostly of investment. Seeds are expensive and most are just one year hibrid. Also soon I will make page about how much damages dog did on the flowers this winter :) .

Nancy, so you have one of theses yards with no fence?! With my dad loves to watch this channel for buying new houses and repair old and I'm saw them. I'm always wondering how you left your pets out?! How unusual. So I guess Luther always have to be with someone from your family, just like Tiny  but ten times bigger.

Trudy, even with weather no good for photos your hike still sounds great! Wow must be hard to walk so long distance after the winter, good that you are keep your good physical form! I definitely can walk 3 hours, but slowly on short distance  . You said you're talked with Heather and Masono, so Mason finally facetimed too or I'm not understand you correct?! Hooray!, for the bus!

Jean, sounds like good decision to go straight home at this snow. International Women's Day stamp collection sounds so intriguing! Are they with famous women or with slogans for women's rights or?! I still try to figure out your page about courthouses. So when the other book came before yours you never finished it?

Hello Lynne! Happy International Women's Day! I just love your imagination!

Rae, why you put unnecessary pressure on yourself and worried for things like your activity here?! Just take us update. And tell us if have any way that we can help for everything that we could! I hope they allow you to stay at the hospital at some nights, so Jen to can go home take shower and some real sleep or you can replace her only during the day?! Hugs!
