I survived the DMV!!!
Gary came with me and we were shocked that it took us longer to drive there (30 minutes) than we were inside. I had more than enough documents and the place was very quiet- smart to go mid-month and early morning. I wish my photo didn't look so bad, but that was more due to the subject than anything else. (Note to self: You need to get your hair colored soon!!!!)

I spent some time looking at photos and videos of the Student Walkouts for Gun Reform. These kids are gonna save our country. I wonder, as someone in the older generation, if this is what it felt like watching marches for Civil Rights and Vietnam in the 60's and 70's. Gary was feeling pessimistic and said that he thought that it was only going to be a short time in the media and then it will go away like it always does. I disagree. I think these kids- growing up with FB/SnapChat/Instagram/Twitter-- they know how to use these platforms in ways that my middle-aged brain has no concept of. They know how to connect and organize and I don't think that they are going to "shut up" like some adults are saying that they should anytime soon. Good for them.
One Twitter post said something like -- They say at 18 we are too young to protest but old enough to by a gun-- and old enough to get shot and killed. Solid point.

Anyway, time to put the ol' soapbox away. I should find an emoji for that :p

Today I am cleaning/taxes/bills/wake.
But first I have to take the dogs outside. BRB!

My goodness, it is so cold out there! Spring is next week and it doesn't feel any warmer or Springlike at all. Not even close. W only wanted to go and eat chunks of ice.

Felis- I like to open the windows and smell the fresh air after a Thunderstorm in the summer. Not in the cold, however, not me hah!!
Gary feels the same as you, that it is better to not watch the news, what will be will be. Me, I am too scared to turn it off, that the whole country will go down in flames if I close my eyes. I am sure that there is a happy medium somewhere, I only have to find it.
Hope that you have a super day!

Nancy- The end of regular hockey season must be coming up soon, so I bet every game gets a bit more intense. How are the Devils chances of getting to the playoffs? BTW- I Followed and Retweeted the Devils post about the PE signed poster. If I win (by some crazy longshot!) I am giving it to you.

Trudy- sorry to hear that your hike got rained out. Hope that you were able to spend more time with Mason instead. I hope that Heather and Hunter beat this cold quickly.
Oh, my-- how awful for that accident to have happened. What a sad loss. :(

Jean, Rae, Tammy and everyone else who pops in, big hugs! And get good nights' sleep because the party is starting sOon!

good morning - well my Devils not only won but beat down the Vegas Golden Knights 8-3. So so far on the 6 game road trip the Devils have won the first two games against the top teams in the West, Nashville and Vegas. But they still have to play the Kings, the Ducks, the Sharks and the Pens. Hard games as everyone wants these wins as they are all in the hunt for play off spots. But I love how hard my team played. They also chased Marc-Andre Fleury from the net after scoring 4 goals but then the back up came in and he also gave up 4 goals. The funniest part was that the twitter accounts from both teams were really on each other's team and fans. My DH has left for CO and my son took him so I did not have to get up at 4:30 am. That was awesome. I too watched the kids walk out at 10am and kids from my high school did and it great to see. I saw a post today that a Senator is already forming a bill to prohibit animals from being placed in overhead bins yet nothing is done to save the lives of children in school. Believe me I am sickened by what happened to that poor puppy but am shocked at the priority not given to saving lives especially children. I still have to get Luther out for his morning walk. I will miss my DH doing that but Luther will be in day care tomorrow so that will help.

Chris it is heart warming to see these students realizing how to take real action for change. I am so enjoying it. And yes it does remind me of the civil war action and the anti-war action. But it is jarring that black lives matter does not get the same positive support. Congrats on how well it went at the DMV. If you come in prepared it can go fast it is being behind people that don't that causes problems. My son went to the DMV and has a pay stub with address and the woman checking said the date was too old that it had to be with in 90 days. Well my knew that is less than 90 days because Feb was one of the months. She kept arguing with him and finally the police officer had to come over and they had to add up the days and sure enough he was right and the lady had to use the documentation. So he I would not want to be behind in line. Good luck with taxes, cleaning and hope the wake is not too sad.

Trudy sorry that Heather and the kids are sick. And bummer that you did not get to go on that hike. That must be so beautiful to watch the clouds come up the valley and split. And OMgosh that is terrible about that you man. Sun blinding on the commuters in NJ causes many crashes and slow downs on the road.

Waving to everyone.

Have a great day!

Morning ladies... It is cloudy here this morning, but the sun is coming up and making the clouds all pink and pretty. Another boring day here for me as the swim lanes at the pool will be closed for the public and a swim meet is going on for all the kids as it is spring break this week. Next week should be back to normal and then next weekend our son and family will be here to drop the kids off for us to watch for a few days. Where they live the school break is the last week of March and the first week of April. Not sure why they get two weeks, perhaps it is because they do not get a break in February like some others do. :noidea: Anyway the first week of April they will be in Disneyland, so fun for all of them! Wish I could go along, but I wasn't invited :becky: Waiting for a facetime call from Heather and the boys again today, hoping that everyone is feeling much better today.

Chris - So happy that your trip to the DMV went much better than you had anticipated! What a nice surprise! Yes I think you are right and this generation of kids in the U.S. will change and save the country from total chaos! It has to happen or my goodness what will become of the States?? Are you all ready for the Party here at the O? I really need to start to get some pages done for the upcoming challenges, it will be a busy time and so much fun!

Nancy - Wow your Devils are really on a roll! The playoffs will be here soon, will our players survive?? So many of them must be so tired with all of these games being so intense! Hope they make it through without any more injuries! The house will seem empty with your DH gone and how nice that your son got up so early to take him to the Airport! That was a sad story about the puppy on the airplane, but you are right the world has their priorities all mixed up! Don't get me wrong we need to stick up for poor defenceless animals, but why on earth did that woman need to take her dog on the flight in the first place? The only animals that should be allowed on the plane are service animals. Ok I will shut up now before I get into trouble LOL :tape: Good for your son for sticking to his guns at the DMV, but ya I would not want to have to be the one next in line LOL.

:hello: to Felis, Jean and Rae hoping that you are all well and that you will have a good day!

I have somehow misplaced my little black raincoat and have no idea where the heck it is :noidea: I have torn the house apart looking for it and have called everyone I could think of to see if I somehow left it at their houses, but no luck. So now I guess I need to go look for a new one Ugh!! One thing I can't do without here on the Wet Coast is a raincoat. So I suppose the day will be spent looking for something that I like and that fits me. I seem to be at a size where one size is too big, but the next size down is too small :gaah: Why is it so hard to find clothes!! Getting more coffee and then will start looking. Wish me luck!

Somehow missed getting here yesterday. Tuesday had a nice visit to the podiatrist who said I have minimal likelihood of diabetic issues with my feet. That is nice to hear along with last month my (relatively) new doc saying it is under control which is supported by last week's lab work. Hasn't been a problem, but good to have docs say so. Yesterday was the monthly genealogy group at the senior center. We always have a good group and this was especially so and included someone new. Thanks to Chris and Google for reminders that it was Pi Day. Today is the beginning of March Madness with all day basketball games for four days.

Chris, congrats on the quick time at the DMV! It isn't going to be really spring for some time to come by our forescasts, so we'll just have to keep shivering I guess. Good luck with your day, especially the wake.

Nancy, I'm sure you'll miss your DH, but it is nice to have occasional time to yourself. Except you still have Luther and DS. Good luck to the Devils who are sure trying to make the playoffs. You and Chris may be right about the current students having the ability to stay with their protests and someday achieve some success. Back in the day the students demonstrating for civil rights and against the war were certainly reviled by their elders at the time too.

Trudy, hope H and M felt better when you talked. Sorry about the raincoat. Where can you have left it? A puzzle for sure. Not fair to be between sizes either. Too bad about the pool this week, I'll hope it is quiet next week in there.

Felis, glad it was sunny, see you tomorrow.

Rae, always good wishes to all of you.

Hi, to all who drop by.

Day was sunny so I use every chance to be outside. My aunt visit was better than before, she try to gossip again, but we successfully pushed the conversation in better directions. She finally start to convenes on her second job, and I hope soon to be back to her normal behavior! It's sad to see how one person can let other to gives her new habits and behavior, especially when they are nasty. Nevermind! The day was shine and I even Win one of my Wishlist, yey!!!

Jean, always is better to make prevention on your health before problems to go serious, so great news from your visit! I know how excited you was about start of the basketball games, so have fun!

Trudy, I'm sure this raincoat will come back again after you order new one, it's a tricky object :) . Uh, so unpleasant that pool is closed and the weather is not good for hiking too, sounds boring. But maybe this will give you more time for reading and scraping! So fun for the kids and Disneyland, bad that you can join too! At least you'll receive some fun with them after that. This will be one remarcable spring break! About the toys for puppet show it's not necessary to be real toys. My grandma cut out ladies from magazines for us :D . You can easy print funny characters from some scrapbook kit. Then glue them on chinese food sticks from the dollar store or make it for fingers and tada, private theater. I'm just not sure do will be interesting for a boy just like it was for a girl. But you left him to create the situation and you just move them and give suggestions.

Nancy, it's proven that people who hurt animals easy evolves to hurting humans. I live in country where animals aren't protected and believe me it's horrible! Last few cases of sadist that was catched are rehearsed initially on animals and they are could be stopped there if system worked.

Chris, sorry I'll catch you later! Have to go now unexpectedly.
