I survived the DMV!!!
Gary came with me and we were shocked that it took us longer to drive there (30 minutes) than we were inside. I had more than enough documents and the place was very quiet- smart to go mid-month and early morning. I wish my photo didn't look so bad, but that was more due to the subject than anything else. (Note to self: You need to get your hair colored soon!!!!)
I spent some time looking at photos and videos of the Student Walkouts for Gun Reform. These kids are gonna save our country. I wonder, as someone in the older generation, if this is what it felt like watching marches for Civil Rights and Vietnam in the 60's and 70's. Gary was feeling pessimistic and said that he thought that it was only going to be a short time in the media and then it will go away like it always does. I disagree. I think these kids- growing up with FB/SnapChat/Instagram/Twitter-- they know how to use these platforms in ways that my middle-aged brain has no concept of. They know how to connect and organize and I don't think that they are going to "shut up" like some adults are saying that they should anytime soon. Good for them.
One Twitter post said something like -- They say at 18 we are too young to protest but old enough to by a gun-- and old enough to get shot and killed. Solid point.
Anyway, time to put the ol' soapbox away. I should find an emoji for that
Today I am cleaning/taxes/bills/wake.
But first I have to take the dogs outside. BRB!
