It is so darn exciting- finally seeing some weather that I can get behind. It is going to be mid-60s by me and near 70 in much of NJ. It is going to be an awesome day for a walk with Arlene. Yesterday was sunny but still cold especially as I was climbing through the piles of snow to get to the defrosted dog poop. The kids had the fire going and were outside for several hours even after it got dark. Too cold for me, but you know --youth and all that good stuff. ;) They can handle everything better than me. Although, I have disliked being cold for as far back as I can remember. I hated playing in the snow as a kid. I remember crying on the front lawn and wanting to go back inside. I bet anything that my mom gave me the line of "needing fresh air," AKA Mom needs a break from the kids for a bit ha!!
My mom and brother took a quick trip down the shore and I am so excited to go this summer. The pictures that my brother sent to me look chilly but I would take it at this point.

News from Evil Ratties Front: Imogene has figured out how to open the medical cage from the inside. It has a wire handle that you need to push down on to release it from the cage bars. Somehow that darn baby learned how to push it down from inside and then pop the door open to escape. Thank goodness that she did that in front of Caitlyn who then watched her do it two more times so she knew it wasn't a fluke. She rigged it so she couldn't escape and they should be able to go back into the big cage today. I would love to say that by the next time she needs to be in the medical cage she will forget but that isn't how rat brains work. Too smart for their own good LOL

I have some work to do around the house this morning and then meeting Arlene later on after lunch. Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

PSA: My autocorrect does some very strange corrections so if whatever word it replaces makes no sense please know it isn't me that is messing up the words but that I am not catching the incorrect correction. :D

@taxed4ever You must be so happy to have a new cut and color. Very uplifting! High five to you on writing that letter. I hope that the Mayor reads it and takes it to heart. And like you said, if nothing else, maybe you will stop dreaming about it. It must have been a source of agita.
*fingers and toes crossed tightly for Heather* That would be such an amazing opportunity!!!! Since she is disabled, will working cause an issue with any benefits that she gets? Here, you lose your benefits/healthcare if you are able to work. There is a program where you can try to work for a bit before you lose your disabled status. It really stinks because Gary can't work with any consistency. He might have a couple of good days and then a week of not being able to do anything other than sleep. He would probably be able to work from home but it isn't allowed. However it works for Heather in CA, I hope that she gets the job!!! Please keep us posted.
The papers you used for the card are beautiful and I imagine they wouldn't have printed as nicely at home.
Speaking of the boys and pets, do they still have their turtles?

@LSlycord Congrats on your shot!! Hope your arm is all good!

@bcgal00 - such a relief to hear that Remi is showing some improvements. Did the vet ever figure out what happened? Really makes my heart happy to hear that she and Taz are playing a bit- that has to be a very good sign. Good luck with your computer and take care of your back xo

@felis- you and your snow! hahaha! I think your seeds should be fine, I know seedlings would not but seeds should be.
OMG, your description of the cats discussing my crocheting mistakes behind my back is perfect! 100% accurate. It isn't called being "catty" for no reason. LOL!!!! I am going to check out the cat baskets too, thanks for the link!

@nancyr That is a relief to hear that Luther isn't limping anymore. But I am chuckling that he is stubborn and sat down on you. J does that on our walks and it is frustrating. She was so good before she had her knee surgery and after that, she decided that she didn't like to walk anymore. I remember as part of her PT that she *had* to walk certain distances and she would only walk between two houses on either side of mine and I would go back and forth, back and forth and the neighbors must have thought I was bonkers.*winks*
My front lawn is still about 50% covered with snow, hopefully, it will all be gone soon.
I did see the news about opening up some more and I am not happy about that. NJ still has one of the highest infection rates in the country. I don't get it. We are so close to getting people vaccinated why not wait a little longer especially with the variants??

HAGD!!

Another quick in and out today. Heading over to get my 2nd Covid Vaccine shot in just a few minutes. It will then be a matter of waiting to see how my body reacts. Hoping it is like the 1st one with just a sore arm. Had a long talk with my sister yesterday. She lost her son a couple of weeks after my hubby died and then lost her hubby 18 months later. Did us both good to talk to each other. If things settle down Covid-wise, she may come over for a visit this spring or early summer. We might do it mid-to-late April as our anniversaries are both in that time frame.

Rae, so glad to hear that Remi is improving.
Chris, oh... those rats adventures are something else again! LOL over her figuring out how to unlatch the door on the cage. Sorry about the dog poop now visible and needing to be cleaned up. What a chore - but glad the snow is melting.
Trudy, so glad you wrote the letter to the Mayor... hope it helps.
Cheryl, hope you area misses out on the storms coming this weekend. Looks like we are on the border of the snow event heading out way. Good thing that I plan on not getting out over the weekend.

Gotta run. CYL

Good morning, ladies. Remi is napping in her crate so I have a few minutes to myself. I’ll be bringing my computer in for repairs today so hopefully I will have it back next wk sometime and hope it won’t be too expensive to fix, whatever it is that is wrong. I’ve started going to bed around 9:30/10 now instead of 11 so I get a bit of a catnap before Remi wakes me up around 11:30-12 for her first pee break and then is sleeping until about 5 or 6, at which point she is up for the day. I hope the addition of the new meds (which were ordered by vet and should be here in the next day or two) will continue to heal here b/c her poops are still not normal. Then we wait for blood work to see if everything is settling down.

@faerywings She has giardia but the vet doesn’t know if that is all she had b/c of the extreme degree of illness. The blood work was a mess and that might mean something else going on. We won’t know until we see the next test results which is a month from the first testing, so in a few wks. But it is encouraging that she is improving but still troubling as its only to a certain degree. I am hopeful though that the next round of meds will heal her.

@taxed4ever New cut and color? I know that must feel good. I need a trim soon. I let my short hair grown in a bit and will keep it as a short bob which is easy to tuck behind my ears. I’m so busy with puppy stuff I don’t have time to fuss with my hair.

@BrightEyes Glad to hear you are getting your second shot. We hope to get our first in the next few months. Canada is way behind the US in timeframe. I hope you get to visit with your sister soon.

I’m getting to work while things are quiet. Have a great day everyone. BFN

Good evening. Kay @BrightEyes, I hope we miss it too. I need to look at the extended weather forecast. It's 70 here today, but that can turn on a dime.

Good news, we're getting our Covid vaccines either Monday or Tuesday!! SO happy about that! We've been gone all day and I've got nothing done. I need to do a few quick things before the gang gets here.

Talk later.
