I am going to have to keep this as quick as I possibly can. I am trying to get myself back into a schedule of sorts. Yeah, yeah, you have heard me say that before, just this week as I recall :D Today I have to be out of the house early(ish) and need to put on "real" clothes as opposed to work clothes. It is not a yard work day so I can't put it off for later.

My dad's surgery was fine. I didn't get to speak to him at all, but he was in a room around dinner time and should be able to come home today.
I had to laugh and roll my eyes along with my BFF. She called yesterday, her mom was also in the hospital and after a day of trading texts with medical check-ins, I asked her-- how the heck did this happen? One day we are cool, going to concerts, and now comparing notes on our elderly parents? I still feel like we should be in the "cool concert-going category." What happened? LOL

I am so excited about the party here tomorrow! I am going to scrap today as long as I make it home from the vet with my arm attached. J might only be around ~70 lbs but she is strong and stubborn and will take me down at the vet's as she has done before. (took me and two other techs to hold her on the table once!) To top it off, she needs two vax's today and has to go back for a third in 2 weeks. Gary is still 100% out of commission. I am trying not to worry too much, but I wish I knew how much of this is covid and how much is Lyme and how much any of that matters. pfft

Have a wonderful day!

@BrightEyes I didn't sleep well the night before and that threw me off, How did you sleep last night, were you able to catch up on sleep? Sheesh, everything is so expensive - I am sorry that the landscaper estimate was so much higher than you expected. But it seems like you have a decent workaround to get shrubs instead of trees.

@taxed4ever great day for your hike! How are your legs feeling today?

@bcgal00 It sounds like insomnia hit all of us that night, how did you sleep last night, any better?
Oh yes! Thank goodness for caffeine #coffee
That is awesome to see baby loons, I am so excited to see your pictures whenever you get lightroom working. Even if they aren't up to your usually perfect and incredible standards, I bet they are still fab.
I am going got have to see if I can listen to some Kate Bush on Spotify today, you have me curious if I can recognize any of her songs.

@LSlycord Gary hates that part of medicare, comparing all of the (s*****) plans that cost way too much and don't cover much of anything.

@Cherylndesigns Looks like the insomnia bug missed you, slept until 11 am, wow! Is Asher having fun at camp?
@LSlycord ITA about AARP- my mom only had straight Medicare for a long time, bit her in the butt after she got so sick in 2020. AARP was the best bang for the buck for her as a supplemental. It still doesn't cover the balance of what Medicare doesn't, but it definitely helps

And I am done with 2 minutes to spare!!!

Morning. Chris @faerywings good news about your dad! Haha - how did you get to this "concert" in your lives??? I'm wishing I could stand the crowds of concerts. Just think of this time as a "concert of sanity". BWAHAHA

I'm glad to hear that you concur about AARP. Mutual of Omaha is what I originally put my dad on - it's wonderful, too. In FL, AARP kind of takes it's place, because there are SO many retirees there - the rates are cheaper due to the masses. One cannot exist on Medicare alone - if you never have an illness (and who doesn't?) it might. It doesn't go very far.

Sorry Gary isn't feeling well, still. That's worrisome. Yes, we slept til 11 yesterday! I think we were both worn out from everything. Grandma always said "you must have needed it". Haha Now, what time did we go to bed??? The kid's a bigger nigh owl than me. I have a heck of a time getting him to go to sleep.

He's loving camp - it's been pushed to 6:30 to 8:00 due to rain, but it's on for 10:30 so far today. His dad is over the moon about it! He told his dad last night that he loved it but was sore. I heard his dad say "good that means you're working your muscles."

I told him the same thing. They had to carry cement blocks yesterday and he said they were heavy.

Hello to everything else - don't know if I'll get back in here later or not. Asher's still sleeping, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to jump on here.

Real quick in and out this morning. My personal banker is back in town and I have an appointment with him in just a little bit so don't have a lot of time to chat.

Yesterday was a HOT, HOT, HOT day. It was 100* with clear skies and I was out running around to nurseries looking for what to put in the backyard. I forgot to to take a hat so I almost got overheated at one point. My face looked liked a red lobster by the time I got done. I had called 1 nursery and found a 'bleeding heart' plant so drove over there to see about getting it. Turns out it needs shade so wouldn't work in any of the spots I have open. I did find a perirenal that grows into a 4' tall by 3' wide bush with beautiful tall stalks of red flowers. I bought 3 of them for the open spots. Still need to pick up bags of potting soil and some drip system line and parts. And, yes, I decided to go with the yard people... they will be here next Wednesday so have to make sure I have all the supplies and plants by then. They had Tuesday open but I have the Red Hat gals here for lunch that day. I saw some other plants that I like for the pots in the backyard so may pick them up after they finish the yard clean-up. Hopefully by then the temps will be a bit cooler. I had to find a protected spot on the back patio to keep the plants as the winds are still strong in the afternoons/evenings. Thought we were going to get rain late in the afternoon but it skirted around to the north of us. But some parts of the state are getting some much needed rain.

I was tired out after all the running around and I ended up napping for almost 3 hours in the recliner right after supper. Stumbled into bed and slept for another 8 hours!!! Making up for the lost sleep the night before.
Time to leave... will try to get back in here this afternoon for the kick-off for the Birthday Bash. CYL

Good morning ladies. I got a better sleep last night thankfully and feel better today. It is starting to get hot and sunny here now. It doesn't cool off much at night so when the heat comes it stays. The pool guy came yesterday and replaced the pump, checked everything, showed D how to do it. We put the little ladybug vacuum in to run for a few days and then should be ready to use. Great timing. I ordered some bathing suit coverups and a few floater things for the pool. I'm all set :) We have a kiddie pool to put up on the patio stones on the side of the house for the dogs so they can cool off too.

So far the new LR catalog is loading but sure is slow. It took over 24 hours to load my 2019 photos. So I know that 2020 and 2021 will take 3 days or so to load. I think it overloaded my system b/c I couldn't use my wacom tablet when I was scrapping yesterday. The tablet pen wouldn't drag products onto my page and was acting funny with acdsee. I shut the computer down when I woke up and saw it had finished 2019 so will check it soon and see what's happening with the tablet. I hate scrapping with a mouse so hopefully I can get it working properly.

Today I will get cauliflower to make a faux mac and cheese to have with salad for dinner. I'm going to stick to keto for the summer since it is the fastest and easiest way to get back to my normal weight. Then I will transition to the trim healthy mama type of eating which will be mostly low carb but not as severe as keto and some meals can be higher carb i.e. a day on the wkend can be higher carb but limits on starches/beans but and must keep the fats low, it's like a cheat day. I sure envy people that don't really have to worry about their weight and just eat without all the drama about it. But I am grateful to have found what works for me. I wish that plant based had worked better for me, I really liked the idea of eating so healthy but I started gaining too much weight, the inflammation in my body was out of control and my joints were hurting, especially my knees...so back to what I know works for me.

Today we have no appointments, no deliveries and can stay home (except for getting groceries).

@faerywings Glad your dad is ok but sorry to hear that G is not recovering so well yet. Hope he feels better soon.

I'm getting more coffee and need to get the dogs out.

Morning everyone! We are back to the rain today and the weather guy says we are in for another Atmospheric River oh goodie!!. We just don't seem to be able to have more than one nice day a week. Oh well the weather held out for our hike yesterday. It was a tough one!! We climbed over 400 metres on rocky terrain. So glad that I took my hiking poles! The climb back down was not fun either and my legs were like jelly by the time we got back to the cars. We had our lunch at the top of the mountain on a mossy bluff with a great view, so it was all worth the climb. Afterward my friend Pat and I visited a nearby garden that was part of a garden tour and admired all the beautiful flowers and bushes. Home just in time to grab a quick shower and get supper ready. DH and I sat on the upper deck before dinner and had a much needed glass of wine together. Oh and before DH came home, he managed to find one of the glass places who will make the screens for our living room windows Hooray!!! It will be nice to have the fresh air come into the living room again! Getting my avatar ready for the party today and working on a few other layouts is my goal for the day. I need to run out to my fav craft store today also and return a stamp that I bought, seems I already had that one LOL. I have to do a better job of keeping inventory of what I have.

@faerywings - So happy to hear that your Dad came through his surgery and will be home today! So sorry that your Gary is still not feeling well though. I hope that he gets to feeling better soon! Poor guy!! Sure hope that you come through the vet visit without injury! That is one powerful pup!! Oh and my legs are a bit stiff and sore today, but at least my knees don't hurt, I always worry that I will do something to my knees when the downhill climb is steep.

@Cherylndesigns - So glad to hear that Asher is having a blast at camp!! Sounds like he is getting lots of exercise!!

@BrightEyes - Sheesh you were one busy lady yesterday! Yikes the temps are so warm for you! Too bad you forgot to take a hat with you, its no fun to overheat like that! I would love to know what kind of plant you found with the beautiful red flowers!! Sorry that the garden guys are going to be so expensive, but seems that everything has doubled in price these days and you are lucky that you found a company that will actually come and do the work! Hope you get that much needed rain soon! Hope your appt with your personal banker goes well this morning!

@bcgal00 - It will be so nice to have your pool up and running!! We will get to enjoy our Son's pool in August when we visit and I am looking forward to it! What a great idea to have a pool for the dogs too! That is strange that your Lightroom is taking so long to load your photos. Do you store your lightroom photos on an external hard drive or the hard drive on your computer? I found this link as to what the problem is... https://lightroomkillertips.com/lightroom-running-slowits-probably-one-7-reasons/
Hope it helps.

Ok Heather is calling so gotta get off of here. TTYL!

Well, the smoke was so bad I could barely see the mountain, so I only did a couple of errands then headed back home. Turns out once I got my mail that I have 2 more errands to add my list... so just as well I didn't do the others.

For those who want to know about the plants I got.... they are Salvia-Furmans-Red. Here is a photo of it. The purple in the background is Denim and Lace Russian sage. I really like it so may end up getting it for large pot in the front/side yard. They are perennials so should last several years. They are also drought tolerant and love the full sun.

Like Trudy, I got my avatar ready for the party. Will work on other CT stuff once the party starts. I am pooped so going to kick back and relax with a large glass of ice water and maybe read for a bit.

Two straight nights of being awake from 1:30-4. Good grief. Looks like lots of us are members of the can’t sleep club. @faerywings love your avatar challenge and so happy that your dad got along so well. Now for recovery…without driving your mom nuts…. Well, at least recovery. I’m so sorry that Gary is still having such a touch time. I know that must really be a constant worry.

@Cherylndesigns Actually, the two that were neck and neck in price were AARP and Mutual of Omaha. AARP was just a bit cheaper and since I was familiar with both, I went with the cheapest. i hope that you are sleeping well at night with Asher wearing you out during the day.

@bcgal00 congrats on being so close to having the pool ready to go! You will love that!

@taxed4ever yay for the screens in the living room. There is nothing that I love more than fresh air. We are now past that here…probably won’t see it again until October. But plenty of pool time.

@BrightEyes those flowers are amazing! I may need to look into those if they are so tolerant of the heat. The red and purple together are stunnng!

I can’t wait to hear what @tanteva found in Stockholm. But I’m sure she is exhausted from the trip and then working! Still, I can’t wait.

Well, I am totally ready for the weekend! Let the birthday celebrations begin!

Glad we were all on the right track with the medicare supplemental. Mutual of Omaha is wonderful!! My dad didn't have any out-of-pocket expenses when he was on it. But that was a while ago.

We're having a good time and I'm pretty worn out, but sleeping well to make up for it.

@taxed4ever Thx Trudy. 5 out of 7 things don't apply for me but there are two things for me to check tomorrow when I get back on my computer. Part of the problem is the huge mass of photos I have. They are raw files and are huge and I have many thousands for each year.
