Daily Ooos: Thursday, June 5

The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Hello and happy Thursday to you all. I am so excited, it is starting to feel like summer here. 'Bout time! Although it didn't feel like summer when I had to get out of bed. The temps dropped overnight and it was chilly. But I sucked it up and ran to the bathroom to change from shorts to long pants.

I had what felt like 20 long and dull days crammed into one boring morning. I got a small amount of housework done, scrubbed out my bird feeders, and swept up the patio. Off to my friend's house to clean (uneventful, no dropped weaponry, always a plus!) The afternoon was the best-est part of my day. I snuggled with the big ratties for a bit, then took the new trio out to play. They are sooo freaking cute!!!! One of them is an absolute MANIAC. Her name ATM is Ripley (from Alien) because she is fearless. I opened up the door to the cage and she immediately zoomed out and ran all over the bed and under the pillows and The Council (Cait's crew of stuffed animals). The other two were a little more cautious but eventually came out to play. Super friendly, love to be handled, and very playful. I was trying to take pics and man, it was difficult. They were moving fast and I was trying to do head/tail counts. Easier to keep track of toddlers. :lol23:
Here are some pics- Ripley is the one in the middle. No names yet for the other two, but Daisy and Margot are possibilities. Daisy would be named after the bunny from Doom (don't ask me other than Scott and Tom talk about her as part of the video game), and Margot is from another video game. I think.

I have a ton of housework to do today. I also want to work on my summer camp lessons. Training is in two weeks and I want it to be 90% ready to go by then. We are dropping my car off at the shop this morning and if it is done by tomorrow, we might try to get Cait's in on Monday. Her check engine light came on while she was driving home yesterday. :rolleyes1:
It never ends, does it? *G*

*If* I have time, I would love to get out in the yard today to clean up more of the gardens. I can't believe it is June and they are still such a big mess. There is a ton of poison ivy along the driveway and I have to be extremely careful trying to rip that out. I'll use rubber gloves and hope for the best.

I guess I should wrap this up. HAGD!!

@BoatLady What awesome adventures did you and your friends go on yesterday? Where are you off to next?
@faerywings Chris the courthouse is not to far, about 20 minutes. Its just annoying to be up early and out of the house. But oh well.
@BoatLady I would love to sit on a jury. It would be interesting. I just never get picked. I almost always know someone on the cases. Life of a small town.
That sounds like it wouldn't be too awful. I would like to sit on a jury if it weren't so far and in a city. I never went in for jury selection. Either I had little kids and no one to watch and then it was medical stuff. I tried to be part of the jury selection last year. When the judge said that we needed to be available for up to three weeks, I had a bad anxiety attack.
My brother sat on a Grand Jury panel and found that fascinating.
You know there are always more challenges to do, or you can create your own!

@bcgal00 That was the hardest part for me when I did craft fairs-- knowing (rather not knowing) what would sell and how much to have on hand. Will you be taking orders there? That always gave me a sense of having a backup plan. Not that I ever sold out of anything but it was nice to have it, just in case. LOL
You are going to do awesome!!

@BrightEyes Good thoughts to your SIL#1 for his trip-- did he come in yesterday or is it today? Either way, I hope everyone is safe and sound and the bad weather passes you by.

Morning all. Yes, Son-in-law#1 made the trip okay yesterday afternoon... only ran into rain as he came through the mountain pass into Albuquerque but it wasn't really bad. Most of the flooding was down in the south valley area of town. His sisters and hubby will be here around 10AM this morning. It is on the cool side (59F but very humid) with sunshine. Local weather gaur says rain but national says sunshine... :giggle4: DD#1 and hubby are off to son's house to meet with contractor this morning. So I have some time to pop in here. Working on a challenge LO.

Hope everyone has a good day...

Good Morning O Fam!
I think the sun is trying to say hi. Its not raining and I see shadows. But its overcast and I wont get my hopes up.

You know there are always more challenges to do, or you can create your own!
Yeah, I doc check the designers challenges and they sometimes look fun. Sometimes I just shrug and think huh how do they do that :giggle4: The good news is the Daily is always here and there are always new LO to look at and see. It all works out and the AJ lands every week. :heartpumppink: Maybe I just need to learn how to take hours on layouts and tweak things. Guess that means maybe I need to learn to slow down. Huh. Rest, sit. yup theme of my life right now :floorlaugh:

I was a rebel last night. Surprised ya did I? :floorlaugh::floorlaugh: I slept without my compression pants!! One night early. Just couldn't do it anymore. Best sleep I've had in two weeks. Feels weird to walk without the compression holding everything in place though. Thankfully the one spot scabbed over like I was hoping. It kept drying to the compression so every time I went potty it ripped off the scab. Now its nice and scabbed and I am hoping that it stays that way after putting on compression again. Im two weeks post op so its now 12 on12 off for compression pants.

Not much happening here in couch land. Need to walk more than yesterday. Monday was almost too much, Tuesday was okay but yesterday we were out of power for three hours so I just sat and read a book, too long to not move. I almost need a timer to get up every 60-90 minutes and make a lap around the house.
off to get :coffeedrinker:

Yesterday was singularly uneventful except that I turned on the AC in the afternoon. I think I was complaining about cold less than a week ago. Some people you just can’t satisfy.

On this morning’s bike ride when I stopped by the farm, they had the first peaches of the season. I could hardly wait to get home and eat one. So good and juicy, nothing at all like buying them at the supermarket.

We found a very small newt, a pickerel frog, and a really cool case-building caddisfly larvae.
When we first moved to Virginia, David and I volunteered with an organization that monitored stream health. We would take a big net out into a stream, hold it on each side, and someone else would stand upstream and move around rocks and dirt for a specific amount of time, unearthing various organisms, mostly bugs, that got caught in the net. Then we would bring up the net, dump everything into basins, and identify and count them. We gave it up because I was completely inept at bug identification. But —finally to my point—the caddisflies are very cool.

There is a ton of poison ivy along the driveway and I have to be extremely careful trying to rip that out.
Holy cow, it is quite the year for poison ivy. All over the trails. We have a work day Saturday and I’ll be passing out Tecnu to all the volunteers. We even have some in our yard and I think it’s the first time.

I would like to sit on a jury if it weren't so far and in a city. I
Sheesh, I always got picked for juries when we lived in NJ. One medical malpractice trial lasted 10 days. I don’t really mind it but for that long one I ended up driving into work every afternoon when court got dismissed and spending 4 or 5 hours at work before driving home at night. Here in small town central Virginia, they don’t have a ton of jury trials so I haven’t been needed, and now I’m 70 and exempt from serving.

I promised to do laundry today so off I go!
