Did anyone notice that I had the wrong date on yesterday's thread subject? On my own birthday, no less.
I had a really nice birthday. My parents, brother and both kids came to lunch with me. We sat on an outdoor deck that overlooks the top end of Greenwood Lake. I live at the bottom end of it but you can't see it from my house. So it was beautiful and sunny and wonderful to be surrounded by my family. Gary made dinner and the kids got me perfect gifts. Caitlyn found a company that helps poverty-stricken women in Mexico. They make these gorgeous blankets and the one Cait picked for me has greys/blues/browns in it. Just stunning. Scott got me a beach-themed cactus planter. The woman that he works with at the Garden Center creates these amazing planters-- layers of sand and dirt, this one has sea glass. The top layer is sand, some shells, and tiny flip-flops that nestle next to the cactus. I have to take some pics to share.
Do my kids know me or what?

Today is chock full of busy. Cleaning this morning, shopping for more b-day gifts/cards for Saturday, PT and some other random party prep. Yuck to it all.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful day!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone!!

Felis- what a sweet cake- I love your wish of a funny, healthy, calm but interesting year. That would be *perfect!*

Nancy- I feel so bad for my dad. On top of it, another firefighter friends DD died a couple of weeks ago. She had a benign brain tumor, got pg, and it went malignant. The Drs were able to control it for a few years but recently, the meds stopped working. I think she was in her late 30's. So it has been a tough few months for him.
How fun to get the new Apple Watch. That sounds like a fantastic feature that it can get help to you if you fall. What brand of sneakers did you get? I need to get a good pair but I have no idea where to begin. And lavender sneakers sound adorable!

Kay- congrats on the great news from the endo!! :cheer2: Enjoy your new books. I am reading one by Karen White right now. I am not sure how I feel about it just yet. I saw on Good Reads that a ner N Roberts came out. I will have to keep my eyes open for it in a few months- you can't put Holds on new books for 60 days I think, which means I forget about new books when I finally can put holds.

Trudy- that is a bummer that you aren't able to hike again. You would think that they would keep them less strenuous in the hot weather. The grands will have so much fun flying kites.
I know that I have to remember that no matter how things go for the party, no one is going to notice or care if things aren't perfect. why is that so hard for me? :noidea:

Jean- the sun is very hot but the humidity has been lower here too-- for now. haha!
Those jars are so pretty and yes, would look perfect with my faery collection!
Thank you for letting me know how PT has helped you and your DH. It doesn't seem like it is a lot of work-- the exercises *seem* easy. Until I do them LOL

Rae- thanks for popping in!! Glad that your days are busy doing what you love to do.

Felis- You are so right. I was so depressed and angry and hopeless yesterday morning from the news. I still am, but being with my family all day yesterday (and my parents didn't fight! whoo hoo!) really helped to center and balance me.
I hate deadlines too but I know some people work well under pressure. Not me!LOL

hugs to all of you!

My studio was unbearably hot yesterday and I'm planning to get my things up there ready for class this afternoon before I take a shower! Downstairs is OK and I hope it stays that way but rain or storms are possible in all the coming days. Right now the sunshine is beautiful and it feels lovely so shouldn't complain.

Chris, your birthday celebrations must have been so warm and happy. Even no parental bickering! The blanket and cactus planter both must be super. Such nice kids you have. At least you can say the right things about the party prep anxiety even if you don't feel it. All will be fine. (And, no, I never noticed the wrong date yesterday.)

Felis, your example of Batman is so good. Hope you take the advice to Chris to heart also. You should be able to enjoy yourself this summer when not working. And the kite LO might be really fun, looking for it sometime soon.

Rae, thanks for stopping by and letting us know that you are busy and much less stressed.

Have a good one.

good morning - up early to go with my DH to the eye doctor. Well he is a star patient as the surgery worked and he sees better than before the surgery. That is so good. He is pretty much cleared to do any activities. Had a nice dinner out with my girlfriend, her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend. Just so fun just casual talking. Getting notices about several hockey players I have watched a long time and now they are retiring from hockey. Good to see new young players but will miss the others.

Chris so glad you had such a wonderful day. And yes your kids do know you. Glad your parents did not fight. And yes the photo of what is happening to immigrants is too sad! Hope you have another great day!

Trudy what a bummer to have the hike so far away. At least you have swimming! Have fun redoing you paintings in the living room! I am sure the grandkids will love the kites. You are so good at planning for them.

Jean I bet it was hot upstairs in your studio. I know my upstairs is warming up with the temps getting into the upper 80s and may hit 90. Have fun at the class!

Rae thanks for keeping us updated! Glad things are going smoothly even if your are busy!

Felis just have fun!

Have a great day all!

Just a quick in and out this AM. Up at 5:30 and it was already in the 70's by 6AM. Not opening windows and doors as it is only 73 inside. Suppose to be HOT again - yesterday was 97! Along with maybe some thunderstorms in the afternoon. Suppose to be like the rest of the week and into next week. Guess the A/C will be turning on soon. Since I have been running on the cool side lately and have the ceiling fans going, the A/C hasn't come on yet this summer. Had to shut the computer down twice yesterday due to thunder/lightening and guess it will be the same today. So am trying to get my work on it done early.

Got a call from DSon#2 yesterday. He missed calling the last 2 weeks so was happy to talk to him. He usually calls on Wed afternoon on his way home from work [he has On-Star so it is hands-free]. He is going to see if he and his wife can make it out for my birthday celebration in November. Fingers crossed that it works out okay.

Just found out that our Red Hat Chapter lunch in early July is going to be Hawaiian themed. I already have a long mu-mu in purple and red lei - so just have to decide what hat or headband to wear.

Chris, so glad your Birthday party was fun... and glad a lot of family was able to make it. Nice that the parents didn't argue so everyone could have a good time. Wow... nice presents that you are so happy to receive.

Nancy, glad your DH got a good report from the eye surgeon. So much fun to go out with your girlfriend and family. That is always a good pick-me-up.

Felis, hope you have a good summer when you aren't working.

Rae, glad to see you popping in to let us know how things are going.

Trudy, glad you are able to get some laps in... don't blame you for not going on hikes that are strenuous or too far away. Now that the heat is on, they should be less demanding and shorter.

Jean, hope your studio stays comfortable so you can get some art done. Sorry it was too hot yesterday.

Well, am off to get my shower and dressed. CYL

Good morning ladies.... IT'S RAINING!!!! and it is a really good rain too, who ever thought that we would be so happy to see the rain?? It has been coming down steady since around 4am this morning. It woke me up it was coming down so hard, but I did manage to fall right back to sleep so that was good! We need about a week of good rainy days to fill the lake up again, but I doubt that will happen, so we will take what we get I guess. It is funny because the long weekend is coming up (Canada Day :canada:) and it is usually raining for that. I got my trip to Walmart accomplished yesterday, man I hate going there and now they have changed the layout of the entire store :mmph: it is a huge Walmart, but now everything is even harder to find, so it took me twice as long to get my items I went looking for. I did find a couple of kites a Bumble Bee transformer one for Mason and a Mickey Mouse one for Hunter, hopefully we have a couple of breezy days to use them. I wondered if I should have picked up one for Isaac and Sadie, but it would be a good thing to do with them while they are here. That way they can pick out their own kite. They are not so demanding when we go shopping together LOL. Hunter wants everything in the store and will not sit in the cart and runs around everywhere. Mason thinks he should get every toy in the store too LOL. No wonder Heather does most of her grocery shopping etc. online LOL. My DIL Jackie graduated from the course she has been on for the past year yesterday. She now has her Masters degree in Defence Studies! We are so proud and happy for her!! She has worked so hard this past year! DS and DIL sent some great photos and hopefully they will allow me to share in a layout soon. I also did another painting yesterday, but I am not really thrilled with it, so it might need a re-do. Made some banana mini loaves in the afternoon and then it was time to get supper ready, the day flew by!! Today I will get to the pool early and get my laps in and then I am meeting with my sisters at noon to have a little birthday get together, it was my sister Pam's birthday on the 26th. Then my other sister Wendy and I are treating her to coffee and some cake at a new place that just opened up downtown. Then we are treating her and ourselves to a pedicure together. It should be a great day!! I just love it when we are all together!!

Chris - LOL no I didn't even notice that date on yesterday's post was wrong :becky: How wonderful that you had such lovely day for your birthday lunch and at such a beautiful spot too! Surrounded by those who love you, it is the best way to spend a birthday! Your kids really do know what their Momma likes and both gifts sound amazing!! Too bad that today will be spent shopping, I know how much you love that LOL. Sure hope you get all your party prep done today!

Jean - Ugh on your studio being so very hot yesterday!! Not much fun creating in those conditions!! Hopefully you get your things all ready for your class today before it gets too darn hot! How nice that you are getting the beautiful sunny weather though! Enjoy your class today!

Rae - How nice to see your pretty smiling face again! I know that you are enjoying your scrapping time and a much more relaxing environment! Hoping that all is well for your granddaughter and that she is happy where she is!

Nancy - That is wonderful to hear that your DH's eye surgery was a success and he is good to go on all activities! I saw yesterday that Roberto Luongo is retiring from hockey, that was a surprise to hear! Hope that you are enjoying a lovely sunny day today! Wish I was a bit better at planning things for the kids to do, it is really hard to keep them away from any kind of a screen!! Isaac would play video games all day long and Sadie will watch movies all day too if she could. :mmph:

Kay - Wow it sounds warm where you are! Hope that you do not get any more thunderstorms today, it is frustrating to say the least to have to keep shutting down the computer! Nice that your DS got his phone call in with you and I will keep my fingers crossed for you that they make it out for your birthday celebration in November! Try to stay cool and hopefully you will get lots of layouts done!

Ok well I need to get out of here, or I will be late getting out of the pool and late for our birthday get together. So another day where I probably won't be able to get any scrapping done. :mmph: my days all seem to be busy, but I guess that is a good thing!! I just feel badly that I am not keeping up with my commitments here  Have a great day everyone!

Hello ladies!
Something that Trudy said yesterday is left in my mind. She was wondering did will can listen music till swimming. I'm only from month in Spotify, but found it very useful site, as I'm unfortunately not able to buy albums as often as would love to do it. So I was listening mostly the radio. But nice in Spotify is that allows you to create your own playlists with random artists (or to listen whole albums as well). My sister is on paid plan which allows you to listen also offline, very helpful because the phone web connection is very slow, but I'm happy with my free plan for now.
I hearing few of my friends to insist that it's not quality summer if you aren't gone to some music festival, but I think I'm not been on that maybe from my college years. Just the the crowd and the hottenes aren't something I can stand anymore. Even the concerts are at evening, still it's not so attractive as small intimate gig.
Other entertainment: today on the cinema will be released "Yesterday", movie with the Beatles covers and with Ed Sheeran, both are from mine favorite musics, so I''d love to watch it! Just I'm not sure how soon will have this chance.

Chris, LOL nope I didn't noticed the wrong date yesterday. I'm curious did some other is?! I'm so happy to hear that you had so well deserved funny bday! WOW, yes the kids' gifts are top! I'm just a little bit more curious about the cactus planter. I just love these little creatures, and they said that cactus must be easy plant, but I always kill them somehow , no matter which variation of the kind it is  :shame: :shame: . The blanket also sounds lovely and will be so cosy at winter time. So lovely Gary to made dinner and parents to be obedient :) ! And you got much paw's love I suppose! I'm so jealous that you're able to bring dogs to the lake, hope that you'll do it soon! Hahaha, nope I'm not good under pressure too, that rush confused me and as an bonus I have my dad's nervous temperament ;P , too bad.

Oops, excuse me, girls, I'll have to come back with the other personals later! My dad came home totally unexpected. He is travel to work just to learn that the client can't get them started today. Such a waste of time and unnecessary traveling. At least will have free day now.

Trudy, congrats to Jackie for her graduated! Have fun with your sisters, the plan sounds really good! I see many kids to doing the same at the stores, looks like it's some stage of their growing. They will have wonderful summer with you don't worry! Do you do something special for Canada Day as barbecue at US or historical restorations show here? I'm always happy to see rain, and love this summer with rain every day!

Kay, Hawaiian themed party sounds awesome, especially in this hotness! Fingers crossed from me too that your birthday celebration will happens as you want it! But I hope to fly, because if you reavel whit car at the winter on so long distance I'll be worry! But it's possible this November no not be very snowy, and then it's no problem.

Nancy, oh so good that your husband's eyes are better now! It's looked like he rush too much. Yes it's sad for the fans when some favorite stars get retired, but at so intensive sport there is not much room for postponement.

Jean, hot studio don't sounds good. Is it help to left windows open at night?!
