hey there, O-zies. proceed to read at your own risk. I am not in a great mood. Parenting in Quarantine Episode 625. Scott got a call from the woman who runs the Ecology Center yesterday. The good news that came out of the call is that he is officially done with his internship. He still wants to go in a few more times to work on the Invasive Plant treatment work he had been doing and was supposed to be implementing. Key words: supposed to be. Because they are a non-profit, they have no money to hire him, or anyone else. So the perfect job post-graduation just went poof. He can't collect unemployment because he wasn't employed at the start of the lockdown. Of course, I am very worried and upset and trying to not "fix" it. But crud.
I kept to myself for the most part yesterday.

I didn't sleep well last night and I am tired and cranky.

I will do quick personals and be on my way.

Kay- days just seem to have a way of getting away from us, sometimes. But how wonderful to get to see your DD.
I am glad that the cough is getting better too. We tried netting over the blueberry bushes previously and didn't have luck but maybe we can try it again now that we moved them to a different location. That would be exciting to see some fruit on your trees.

Trudy- how was the hike, hope you had an awesome time! I wish I could join you too!

Tuesday the part for the car got there about 6 PM, so they finished it up Wed. morning. Meanwhile, Tues. afternoon DH cut the front grass and then had the electric lawnmower give up the ghost. I didn't know he'd been having trouble with it. Wed. when we got the car we did our real grocery shopping then he went out to look at some lawnmowers but went for online ordering one that comes with a backup battery. Right now I've got a loaf of apple nutty bread in the oven so it'll be nice and fresh tomorrow for his birthday. Doesn't look like we're going to do anything much for it. Sigh. Actually he never wants a fuss and even less so for this advanced age. Yesterday afternoon my one genealogy group that has been chatting on Zoom since the before times met and we had a great time exploring the whiteboard feature at Zoom that almost none of us knew about.

Chris, sorry to hear about Scott's dilemma. So tough when there is nothing you can do to "fix" it. As to the blueberries, at least try the netting again. It's not the same, but the silky dogwood we have that gets blue fruits often gets them eaten green by the squirrels, but the birds we want to come only seem to like them ripe and blue. Sort of a can't win thing. For the luau, I don't know that I have any real ideas, but you seem to have it covered with pineapple, banana and coconut plus whatever meat you'll eat. Do you have leis to wear? Actually, doing a search I find that if you have cabbage to hand you could do some sort of quick kimchee, maybe also fried rice or sweet potatoes. Sounds like such fun.

Kay, sweet that DD came to visit when back from AZ. Glad to hear the coughing is reduced but the other things doing well. Was today a day to go to the base?

Trudy, your kitchen is just as I expected: the before looked perfectly nice, but WOW is it super now. So light and airy and big. As you say, worth all the work. How was the hike? Was it fun hanging those items along the way? (And are there photos?)

Nancy, I lose all track of time. Is it time yet for DH's other eye? How's Luther doing as it heats up.

Felis, waying HI!

good morning - the weather is has changed - the humidity is up and the clouds have arrived though only scattered rain predicted so that is good. Got out for a good walk. I wore my mask but most people in my town while on walks are not. But so far our state rate of Covid is going down. Last night I went to the store and going at 7pm was awesome as there were so few people that I did not even have to wait in a check out line. They had plenty of paper towels and toilet paper but not my ice bars. Bummed but the one thing I need was my Diet DP and that they did have so I am stocked up while my DH and I are under quarantine for his next surgery on Monday. I could go to the store last night as he takes his Covid test today. Made a yummy dinner last night curry chicken pita wraps. Also a cole slaw with a spicy dressing. There were no left overs. Tonight is jalapeño burgers and carrot fries. I am hungry already. On the walk today saw a flicker, lots of cat birds, cardinals, and red winged blackbirds. Also saw a ground hog. So cool. And this year there seems to be a real increase in chipmunks. But the best is got up this am and there was a morning dove on her nest on my bedroom window sill. I am surprised my kitty has not discovered her but so far so good. I cant wait to see babies. I was so shocked. But makes me so happy!

Chris yes this month is just flying by. It is crazy that this weekend while the start of summer is to me sad as that means the days get shorter. I hate that. I love taking Luther out after dinner while there is still light but it is cool. Glad your puppies had a good walk. Sorry about the news for Scott. I hope it gets figured out soon. I am sure your girlfriend will understand and enjoy the card when it arrives.

Trudy hope you had a great hike! Glad the weather held. Sorry the card did not get there in time. Hope you are enjoying that new kitchen.

Kay glad your cough is getting better. A PJ day sounds nice. How fun to be surprised by your DD. I sure you both had lots to talk about.

This is a 'not so good' day for me. Woke up to heavy smoke in the area from several wildfires burning in AZ and NM. Couldn't even see the mountain due to the smoke - and it is only 10 miles from me!! Will be like this until we get some winds this weekend. So keeping the house closed up even tho the temps were in the mid-60's when I got up at 7AM. The other 'not so good' thing is that my back is giving me fits since I got up. If I lean in any direction, the back muscles go into spasms. Guess changing the sheets on my bad yesterday set it off. So will be using my massager, using some ice packs and taking muscle relaxer until it improves.

Had to go to the grocery store this AM for a few items. Was thrilled to find they had some large jugs of Soft Soap liquid which is easier on the skin on the hands!!! Haven't been able to find it for since Jan. Also got some gel hand sanitizer. Only had some liquid one that was really harsh on the hands and ran all over when I used it. PITA.... And the price of bananas is back down to 'normal'... 49 cents/lb vs the 70 cents/lb it was last couple of weeks.

No, I didn't go to the base today... the pharmacy was closed for a training day. Will go on Tuesday as the commissary is open for retirees and dependents only on Tuesday and Thursday. Prefer to combine both in one trip.

Most people out were wearing masks... and many were trying to stay 6' apart. Our state has opened up some more but waiting to see if there is a spike again like Texas and Arizona had. They may have to step back some if it is a large spike.

Jean, so glad to hear that you got your car back... but a bummer about the lawn mower quitting. Seems like it is one thing after another doesn't it??

Trudy, hope your hike was a good one.

Chris, sorry about Scott's internship being cancelled and no jobs available for him right now. Most of my family that are working are on reduced hours or furlough right now.

Well the back is talking to me so heading for the recliner and massager. CYL

Hello lOvelies!
Just quick pop in to let you know that everything is fine with me! I just had difficulties to set up my working time, housekeeping tasks and circumstance that my sister now needs the PC for more time than usual. So for me left only most unpleasant hours when I'm busy or too sleepy. I have other devices of course, but forum is not like Instagram, I can't spend 1,5-2hr typing on small screen, without my back up and spell check programs. Yep, I'm too sissy.
But don't worry, we are planned things well, so soon I'll can come back and catch just one time the necessary number posts and layouts, so to be neat active member!

I miss you very much! And hope you are all well!:hippie:

Hugs and kisses!

And waving! :wave::p
