Is it safe for me to be around people today? Rather-- is it safe for people to be around *me* today? :p
Ever have a day/week/decade where you feel like there is more negativity than you can handle? eep. That be me right now. :/

I started out my day yesterday all well and good. It was simply the usual crud happening in the world weighing me down. But my car started, didn't wake the neighbors three blocks over, and no problems at all cleaning for my friend. All good things! While I was there, my brother texted me that my dad drove to the house in PA by himself. And wasn't staying over or taking a break, no, that would be too logical for an 86-year-old man. Nope, he got there, checked the house out, and was on his way back to NJ around 11.30 am. I suppose that would have been stressful enough if my brother hadn't called me as I was driving home with a boatload of other concerns. My mom was planning on coming here today to visit since I am not working but I offered to go down there and maybe talk to them both about *waves arms around wildly* S*** -- everything (?!?!)
Got home and I call my mom at the house, no answer so I leave a message. Call again, an hour later. My dad should have been back home by then. Still no answer.
Text my brother, who hasn't heard from either of them. Call another hour after that- you know the drill - no answer. Caitlyn calls the house and my mom's cell. Her cell is not on (what else is new?).

I am trying to figure out where they could be and attempting not to let my imagination get away from me. Meanwhile, Caitlyn is trying to get a vet appointment for Mouse, who has developed a head tilt. I didn't notice anything unusual while she was away but maybe I missed it. Head tilt in rats can either be an ear infection or a pituitary tumor. Her regular rat-vet is on vacation and also isn't seeing rats anymore. :( To go to an ER vet would be hundreds of dollars. She found a vet in town that sees small mammals but only for minor issues so I am taking Mouse there this afternoon. If it is an ear infection, she can try abx. If the abx don't work, then we'll at least know it's most likely a tumor.

So yeah, that was the "intermission" of my afternoon. Cuz I am still trying to find my parents.

My mom calls me at 4 pm. Like nothing in the world is wrong. I unloaded on her, mad at her, mad at my dad, mad they neither of them seemed to think that at their ages, they should at the very least keep their cell phones turned on. She apologized several times but I don't know if anything I said will make any difference. BTDT more than once.
B/c I need to bring Mouse to the vet, we decided to scrap the visit today so they are coming up on Sunday instead. I need to steam clean the carpets and today is as good a day as any.

It will be good to put headphones in, listen to my spooky history podcast and ignore everything else for a bit.

maybe-- hopefully-- I'll have time to scrap/party this afternoon.
:praying2:

Wishing you a peaceful and positive day!

My distance vision is better now, but my reading vision is blurry! And I spend more time needing the reading distance than I do the driving distance! Sigh! What to do, what to do!
That is my biggest issue with my contacts-- how to balance the distance and reading. I've always gone with the emphasis on distance for driving. But now the close-up is also bad so when the kids at work point out a bug, I can't see it. I hope that your eyes adjust soon.
No more engine light.....for now! I hope you have your car back by now and that it didn't cost you an arm and a leg!
HA! I've been to HI, not AK.....and I'm not a beach person, so I would love to go to AK! It won't be in the near future, however!
*fingers crossed that the engine light stays off*
Yup, both cars are back and mine only cost $147! We love the new shop we found. They got awesome reviews, they are close by and they got both cars down quickly. Whew!

It's been quiet around here, but I just keep hearing so much stress for DD and family. Collapsed basement wall to be fixed in one house, asbestos removal to get to plumbing and hot water back on in the other, plus she's presenting at a conference today and the internet has gone down. And she's got follow-up doctors visits to make sure that her appendix problem last month isn't actually cancer. Their kids are in the last week of school, so they will be here with us for a couple weeks soon; that should relieve some of the burden.
((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))
Feel free to join me hiding behind the couch. :couchhide: I have plenty of wine-- I am not worried about the new study on dementia because I am *sure* there are others that say the exact opposite HAHAHA!! They do the same with coffee, good for you/bad for you. I think it depends on who is financing the research (Semi-sarcastic there).
Hope I am not butting in again, but any chance you saved the tick? You can send it out for testing for Lyme and other TBIs. Or talk to your dr for some prophylactic abx. The other thing-- besides taking your sister with a grain of salt :D - catching Lyme early is a completely different ball game than when it becomes Later Stage.

I've never felt comfortable getting my ice cream from a worm shop.
100%!!!!!

I can be without if its a slow stay home day with not much going on and lots of feet up. But If I am gong to be standing all day or running errands, its best to be proactive and wear compression tights to keep things moving.
That makes so much sense.
The meds they gave me to help with nerve pain make me dizzy, like I cant keep my balance while trying to walk so I dont take them. Its spectacular fun. If I remember from the last surgery, I have another 2 weeks and then it should be mostly gone.
Was that Neurontin/Gabapentin? Gary takes that occasionally when his neuropathies are so bad he can't sleep but then he wakes up "hungover." pfft....
Off to get more coffee, Chris you still another cup? :coffeedrinker:
YES PLEASE!!!!!

Sorry I haven't been posting/responding to posts in this thread much this month. DD#1 is still here and work on her son's house is still going on. Not quite sure when she will be heading back to her home... depends on work on his house as she needs to be here during much of it. With all that going on, I don't have as much time as usual to be on the computer.
We miss you so thank you for checking in! Sending lots of good vibes to DD#1 as she works on the house. It must be exhausting.:(
Oooh, I like the chairs! It's hard to find chairs w/o arms or ones that flip up, that is what I prefer for my desk chair. Great deal on them too.
Make sure you share a pic when you have them in and set up at the table ♥

Time to check out the Gallery for a bit, HAGD!

I'm glad everyones cars are fixed...we count on them so much.

@faerywings I understand your parent panic...it's so crazy we have reversed rolls and we keep an eye on them. Good luck. I hope they are better at keeping in touch with you so there is less stress. Sorry about the rat problem home it's an easy rememdy.

@AK_Tracy As always I love to follow along on your healing process....the whole thing amazes me. You are doing so well.

@BrightEyes good find for your chairs.

So much has happened since I posted last. We toured Monticello which was so interesting. Met my cousin at a winery in VA so that was great fun we hadn't been together in a few years. Went on a few walks but it was hot.
Now we are in Chambersburg pa, We went to a Italian restaurant that the camp owners recommend and it was so delicious and leftovers for another meal. Yesterday I did laundry then we walked part of a rail trail but my hip was really sore so we stopped. We had lunch at Inka Kitchen....yummy Peruvian food. I had Chicha Morada-purple corn water---so yummy and Cevechi Mixto lemon cured fish with the shrimp in it too. I was wanting Cevechi so was so happy to finally find it and it was exceptional!!! Jay had Mufungo with skirt steak and he really enjoyed it. I spent several hours photographing the birds here. Love it. We had a nice campfire last night.

Hubby and I both have mono-vision contact lenses. one eye corrected for reading one for distance. Can you something like that for glasses

So today we are married 54 years and what an adventure it has been. We are going to Promised Land in Greentown Pa so will find a nice dinner spot nearby. We will be seeing family on Monday....so excited!!!!

Got to prep to get on the road again--4 hour drive to next campsite.

Good news on the car! Ours cost less than $200, also! I'm a bit worried as Ilene's van that we girls usually take to PA is not feeling well and we might need to take my car! Mark said he wished he were going to be along if we take my car, just in case. I told him to come. He could hang with the great grandson. He said, Yeah! Right! :giggle4:
RE glasses...I didn't do too bad with them yesterday. The driving is DEFINITELY better vision! I agree that is important, but I spend a LOT more time on my computer than I do on the road. However, as I am typing this, it is not bad. We shall see how I do on the PA trip next week.
Hope the only thing going on with Mouse is an infection that can be cleared up easily with abx!

Quick in and out today.
I've walked 3 days in a row this week! But not today as I was up until 1 last night/this morning working on uploading pages to Persnickety who is having a 25% off sale for their 14th birthday! Their 8x8 are $1.79 before discount and the 12x12 are $2.39 before discount. Everything else is on sale, too! I love their quality AND especially their quick turn around! The sale is only through the 15th, so RUN don't walk! ;)
Will probably go to lunch with Mark later. And need to work on my laundry and packing for the PA trip. Plus need to do some grocery ordering for food for Mark while I am gone next week.
Have a great day!

Happy 54th anniversary! Enjoy your day, even though it sounds like half of it will be on the road!
I loved touring Monticello, too! Such a beautiful place in a beautiful setting!

I’m feeling a little less stressed today. Maybe not hearing any bad updates for the last 24 hours is helping. We biked this morning and got more peaches. You folks are going to be sick and tired of me going on and on about peaches, but it has been such a revelation to me since I moved into a town with a peach orchard that you can actually count on good peaches. And just how great a good peach is.

I walked through the yard today and enjoyed all the summer flowers starting to bloom. Coneflowers, black eyed Susan, astilbe, southern magnolia, zinnia, coreopsis. The bees are very happy.

I’ve been keeping up with the party, and am looking forward to the sale. So much for my resolution to buy what I need only when I need it.

Yesterday afternoon I sat in on a Viking Cruises webinar (advertisement) about their river cruises in France and now I’m working on convincing David we could do Bordeaux next fall. So far without much success but I’ve got time to work on him.

David is a retired biology professor, OF COURSE we have the tick saved. :rotfl:In a little specimen jar, with label and date. Back when we lived in NJ our doctor would give prophylactic antibiotics after a tick, but they won’t do that here. I assumed it was that medical practice had changed over the last decade but maybe it’s just different doctors. I’m pretty comfortable we can keep an eye on him and catch anything early.

We toured Monticello which was so interesting. Met my cousin at a winery in VA
Monticello is fun to see. I especially like when it’s not too hot, so it’s more comfortable looking at the gardens and outbuildings. The indoor experience is very different depending on your guide, but I haven’t run across a bad one yet. And I’m always glad when visitors get to experience one of our wonderful local wineries. Virginia is getting better known for its wine, but it’s still a low volume business. The lanterflies that have invaded recently are scary, as apparently they love grape vines.

So today we are married 54 years and what an adventure it has been.
Happy anniversary!

I’ve worn glasses for distance since I was 8 and even before my bifocal years, I’ve been better off with midrange glasses for the computer. Neither the reading distance nor longe distance is right for my computer screen. That prescription changes, for me, much less often than distance or reading, so it’s not a lot of expense except I tend fo lose them.

Yep, Gabapentin. I had to take it before surgery this last time. It was a new addition. I could barely function to shower and get dressed I really didn't like it at all. I will be asking if I can take less or not at all next time. I had to take two the night before and two the morning of and its too much. I have balance issues anyway from the CMT and with the gabapentin it was really bad. Almost tipped over in the shower turning around.

Neither the reading distance nor longe distance is right for my computer screen.
YES! Exactly!!!! I read that far away too. I dont like holding things up to my chest to read. The doc looked at me like I was crazy when I told him I needed "knee" distance. My computer and kindle sit in my lap when I read/work. So I took my kindle and laptop into the appointment to show him where I needed the reading lens to be and I almost maxed out his machines distance LOL The little reader card they hand and you gotta look through the big lens thing. We were as far out as it could go. But it mattered as otherwise it was the wrong scripts.

Well, another sunny beautiful day. Off to grab more coffee and do nothing. Well, I will do the birthday event but then its read and tan. Have a wonderful day!

Another busy day here... so this is short and sweet....
Just checked and the chairs are enroute should be here on Tuesday, June 17th!!
Had several players in my Challenge #5 since I last checked so had to get caught up on commenting on them. And trying to keep up when releases are in the shop so I can get them uploaded around digi-land. Feel like I am way behind on doing challenges but that is because there is several Birthday challenges in addition to regular monthly challenges. I had planned on making a new siggy but haven't got around to it... Maybe just wait until July to do one.

Oooops... DD#3 is on her way down so have to close this out. HAGD

Right! I had to resize some of the pages I had done for challenges. I normally print my Monthly Review pages as 12x12 and the regular, everyday pages that are generally done for challenges are printed as 8x8. Some of those I had to resize from 12x12. Plus I wanted to print the sheets of daily scripture ATCs I have done so far this year, so I had to rearrange those from 8.5x11 to 12x12. I worked on them most of the day yesterday. But I got it done!

So, are the "midrange" glasses generic you get in Walmart?
No, I measure how many inches it is from my face to the computer screen and tell that to the optometrist. I get a separate prescription for glasses that are focused at that distance. I generally get my glasses made at Costco, so I just give them that as well as my bifocal prescription and get two pairs made. Sometimes my second pair is sunglasses. I can't decide whether I prefer the sunglasses to just have the distance lenses, which works better for driving and biking, or if I want bifocals because maybe a couple times a year I want to read on the beach. This all sounds so confusing, but it's not so bad.

I thought like you. Sunglasses in bifocal so that I could see the dash or text. I HATE THEM! I wish I had kept them just distance since I wear them while driving. I will go back to distance only in my sunglasses when I can next year. Reading through the sunglasses is such a pain and its wrong distance for the dash of my car. Worst choice I made LOL I find if I read outside in the sun, I don't want shaded glasses.
