Good morning! This week is really flying by for me. Is it the same for you?

I had another amazing and fun day with my little ones. Did I tell you how stinking cute they are? When I got home, I was telling Gary again how little they are. I have almost always worked with 3-5 yos during my teaching career, so he was teasing me-- "did you think they were going to grow in 24 hours?" It took me a while, but I realized that when I taught in classrooms, everything was small. Being outside, everything like our picnic tables and benches are normal-sized and nature is, of course, huge!
We were getting ready for our mini-hike and were walking along a path by the main building. The guy who founded Trailbound Porject (where I take the hiking and Wilderness First Aid classes) was getting out of his car to do a program with the older camper group. My kids were jumping around and showing off to him-- "I got a backpack!!" "I have a blue backpack!" "I have water in my backpack!!" He got such a kick out of them,-- even offered to me that if I needed him to ever do a talk with these guys, to let him know. These kids are *that* cute.
It is hard to tell from the picture but the owl masks came out adorable.

Today is going to be very hot so we'll spend the morning exploring the stream and make frogs out of egg cartons.
My plan for our game is a take on Drip Drip Drop-- which is a take on Duck Duck Goose, but with a wet sponge. Instead of Drip Drip Drop, we'll say Ribbit Ribbit Plop! That idea came to me as I was washing dishes yesterday morning. See Debby, the brain never turns off. Well-- the "teacher brain" never turns off. The rest of my brain is hit or miss. :rotfl:
HAGD!

Today is stow everything and break up camp then 2 hours to our next destination..a farm with animals and fresh local food store. Just one night there so we won't even unhook the truck. It's chilly here this morning but it makes a good night sleep but now heat is on so it warming up. 54 degrees out is like one or two winter nights in Florida
Take pics of the farm friends! And stay warm. It was 61° when I left for work yesterday and today we are supposed to get to 87°- psychotic weather for sure.
Great news on the car! So glad you found a mechanic you can trust! That's the only reason Mark kept taking ours back to the same mechanic.....he knew he would eventually figure out the problem!
So dang true!
Glad you are feeling better, too.

:floorlaugh::lovey3:
What a precious darling!
I can't tell if you are being sarcastic, but based on my long-time knowledge of you I am going with: Yes, sarcastic. Haha!
We're sort of mourning over here. Not that I'm a super fan, but I gotta admit, Ozzy was something special. We watched a couple of videos on Youtube last night, and now I hear Urban is playing one of the records.
Yeah, that is a hard one here. Gary is a huge Randy Rhodes fan and Sabbath/Ozzy too. I did my Senior Thesis for my Psych degree on the Depressive Effects of Country Music vs Heavy Metal. For the Heavy Metal song, I used Over the Mountain by Ozzy. This was in the early 90s when everyone (looking at you Tipper Gore LOL) was up in arms about Metal causing suicides.
Fishing was great! But oh my gosh my hands are killing me. Holding a 5' net on a long pole in the water. Ugh my hands are so cramped and hurts to move them. A couple fingers tingle from tight muscles. Almost cant hold the coffee cup. Gonna be fun today trying to get things done when my hands dont want to work. Off to shuffle over and get more coffee. Have a wonderful day.
How are your hands feeling today? I bet that even with the hand cramps, you are feeling so much better than you did this time last year!
Not a lot happening this week, so I have no excuses not to catch up on some housework.
There is *always* an excuse. Too hot/cold/humid/low-humidity so take advantage of working outside. Hangnail, headache, feeling great! Week 4 of the AJ Challenge. I can keep going if you want. :lol23:

hugs!!

What a scare we had yesterday afternoon...We are all set up in a field to camp. I was inside starting to fix dinner when another camper arrived. They were backing up, backing up and backing up, closer and closer...I was screaming to them Whoa Whoa Whoa. Hubby was outside and ran over to them telling them to stop. They finally stopped about 2 feet from the side of our trailer. Flashback to 2021 when we got T-boned that totaled our 7 month old trailer 3 days into our 4 month trip.....grrrr. Anyway she finally got out to help guide him into a safe spot next to us. All's well that ends well!!! We had a chat with them later. FYI Jay and I work as a team with setting up...I always get out to guide him back into the site--- we use our phones as walkie talkies to communicate so avoid giving others heart attacks! LOL

@AK_Tracy Yikes I hope your hands are feeling better...How much fish do you catch for a winter? I assume it is salmon. Do you go every day till the season is over? Alaska life is fascinating to me but way too cold.

@Terri M I'm glad you are all set up with your new computer. Last year when we were traveling my laptop was sick so I went to a shop in Sedona AZ to have it looked at...dead.. So I bought a new one the guy there put all my stuff in the new one...easy peasy and it was totally set up, didn't even need to recover passwords. It was a miracle!
Awhile ago you mentioned you wanted to visit Block Island some day ...when you are ready let me know so I can give you some tips on where to go and what to see. We have been there 30 or 40 times on our boat so got to know it pretty well.

@faerywings I'm go glad your mask day went well that pic is adorable I can see the smile beneath the mask so it was fun for the kids too. Thanks for sharing the pic. Those new games sound wonderful so I guess the teacher brain does not shut off. The kids will love the Drip Drip Drop ---perfect for a hot day.

Well I will check in later when we are at out new destination. Have a sparkling day everyone.

Today is another travel day to New London CT so will see many boating /marina friends tomorrow for dinner. I am beyond happy about it.

I have one of those "teacher brains!" So I know exactly what you mean! I don't have a degree, but I have God's degree as a Sunday school teacher and as a VBS craft teacher, LOL!

WHEW! Close call! Glad it all turned out OK! Safe travels today!

Good Morning,
Today is haircut day! WOOT! It has been 3 months! My gal went on maternity leave and I don't trust anyone else to cut this curly mop! Today is her first day back! Good decision....or bad decision! New mom frazzles might make it a bad decision, LOL! We shall see!

Had a great day with Ilene and her cousin yesterday. Jo is just as sweet as Ilene, but not as rambunctious!

After the haircut today, I am going to spend the afternoon with my daughter. She contacted me yesterday to see if I could come over. I originally had plans to go back to Ilene's, but when Lizzie told me she only had one more week after this week before she had to report back to school as a teacher's aide and asked me to put her on my schedule, LOL, I told her Ilene could wait and I would see her today AND next week! Can't resist that kind of invitation, LOL! She lives 20 minutes away, but with teens in the house, even during her summer vacation I rarely see her! But I totally understand! They work on the house during the summer while she is home. This year they painted and recovered the floors!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning Lovely O's!

How are your hands feeling today? I bet that even with the hand cramps, you are feeling so much better than you did this time last year!
They're better but not amazing. I think part of the reason they hurt so much is the fish were coming in fast and so for two hours I never had a break. It was amazing, dont get me wrong, but it didn't allow for a break and I think that's why this hurts more this year. I also have two blisters on my hand. But the rest of my body isn't as bad as I expected which is a huge blessing.

Oh Debby, that is scary!!! You know how hard it is to see and backing up something that big, why oh why dont people get out and guide!! Hubs always got out and helped me back up the motorhome when we had it.
@AK_Tracy Yikes I hope your hands are feeling better...How much fish do you catch for a winter? I assume it is salmon. Do you go every day till the season is over? Alaska life is fascinating to me but way too cold.
Hands are so so not much better. We usually catch (whole season) about 55-60 fish and that gets us through a year. Sometimes longer. I dont enjoy eating it so its mostly hubby who eats the fish. We can a lot of it too and use it like canned tuna for sandwiches. when kids were little we told them it was pink tuna cause they swore they wouldn't eat salmon. LOL They did they just didn't know. Most of what we catch are sockeye (reds). This year is a humpback (pinks) year and we will catch extra of those for dog food LOL We are spoiled up here with the reds being so amazing that most people only catch the pinks for dog food. As for times, we do not go daily. For the dip netting we just did we usually go once or twice in the 21 days its open. The fishing isn't amazing if the commercial fisheries are out so we dont go those days, they beginning of the season is usually too slow to go so we pick our days and watch the numbers. When fishing for shore, we also watch the number of fish entering the river and pick out days. We try to go week days as there are less people fishing as they're at work. While it is cooler than FL you would be okay in July in the interior, Talkeetna and Fairbanks since they're are warmer. Plus they sell sweatshirts EVERYWHERE for that reason LOL

Yeah, haircut day!!! Will feel so good to get it cut. It will be good. Your stylist wont be frazzled. Our dog groomer just canceled our appointment for toady as she is in labor LOL My dogs will be a mess by the times gets back to them. Like you, I will wait as I dont trust anyone else. Its worth the hassle and waiting when you find someone who's good. Have fun getting a cut! Always feels so good to get the extra weight off.

hands going numb. cant hardly type anymore. Gotta go stretch back muscles and see if I can relieve whatever is pinching. Have a wonderful day!!

Good morning ladies. I will be heading out for a walk with Remi and then we're off to mahjong for the afternoon. Then we'll come home for a few hours and I'll take Remi for another little walk b/c the dogs won't see me much today. We're off to the rodeo for chuckwagon races tonight. Should be fun, I've never been to one.

Tomorrow morning we're finally getting our taxes done. I don't know why I procrastinate so much about that, it really isn't that difficult to get all our paperwork together.

Had fun on our photography outing, a friend and I spent the day in Kananaskis country and came across a moose and then a mama bear and two cubs. Got a few good pics of them.

@faerywings so glad to hear the car is fixed.
@AK_Tracy bet you enjoyed fishing again but sorry to hear of the hand discomfort today.
@Terri M Ugh computer setups. I will need a new PC this fall and am dreading the switch over.
@BoatLady Whew...disaster averted!

Gotta go, get dressed and get out with Remi. HAGD everyone.

Yep! Feels so much better! She couldn't believe how much it had grown!
Hope your hands are no longer numb!

Today is going to be very hot so we'll spend the morning exploring the stream and make frogs out of egg cartons.
I should have done that. Instead David and I went out to mow a trail We weren't able to start early because I had to have a blood draw at the doctor's office at 10, and I needed to fast, so no breakfast. A couple hours of mowing and I was so dehydrated all I could do was lie on the ground. It didn't feel that hot to me, in the woods next to a lake, but I guess I was wrong. I think I actually fainted when I stood up because I ended up back on the ground. David took the equipment back to the car and them walked me out, leaning on him. I spend the afternoon lying down and drinking water, iced tea, and a protein shake and I was recovered enough to run the Trails Crew meeting this evening. So it all worked out, but that's the first time that ever happened to me. Next time I won't be leaving my water bottle behind!

I did my Senior Thesis for my Psych degree on the Depressive Effects of Country Music vs Heavy Metal.
I think I would be laughing the whole time I was writing that!

They finally stopped about 2 feet from the side of our trailer. Flashback to 2021 when we got T-boned that totaled our 7 month old trailer 3 days into our 4 month trip
So scary! I can barely back up a car with a backup mirror, I don't understand why people don't make this a 2-man job.

Awhile ago you mentioned you wanted to visit Block Island some day ...when you are ready let me know so I can give you some tips on where to go and what to see. We have been there 30 or 40 times on our boat so got to know it pretty well.
I will keep that in mind! I don't know when we'll be up New England way next but you never know
