Time to say goodbye to January. This has been a pretty crazy month. Was it a crazy one for you, too?
Here is to hoping that February brings calmness and happiness. And if not, then at least its only a 28 day month. (another motto of mine- there is *always* a silver lining somewhere!!) :p

Today is already starting out with confusion. The storm took more trees down across the main road through town and power is out in the HS, Middle School and one of the Elem Schools so we are on a delayed opening. if it is not fixed, then no school. I hate delayed openings. That 90 minutes off throws my poor number-challenges brain into a tailspin. I have to babysit this morning and then food shop right after and that throws my schedule out the window. But-- the good news of it is at least I am not working cuz that would make it even harder.

How did everyone else in the East make out with that storm system? I heard that there were lots of tornadoes in the South.
Oh! Check this map out- its mesmerizing!

I had a major blond moment yesterday. MIL asked me to steam cleanher carpets. I start running the cleaner but no water is being sucked back up. I clean out the bottom, try again. And again. I take the entire front pieces apart, clean them all out, put it back together (successfully!!!). Still no luck. Then, I notice, it was on the hand-tools setting. I switched it to Floor Setting and viola! It worked.
Blond. Even with 3" brown roots...... LOL

Temptation on Thursday
I want to go and buy every convenience food there is today and go on a cooking hiatus. And paper plates and plastic forks and throw them all out instead of recycling.....

What a cool map! We have a delayed opening here too! Ours is two hours which means that Brian will be with the kids so I can go back to work. I think that I really need to get some things done today in preparation for the trip. Like make sure that I can get the dog into the boarder. Ugh...

Have a great day all.

lOve the O!
all I can say is the wind map says 18 for me and it surely is gusting much higher- woke to house shaking frequently through the night and had bizarre- and I mean bizarre dreams right before I decided to wake up and start the day. So today, cleaning and play! Hopefully more play than cleaning! I need to get my groove on!

Hi Laurie! How did the weather turn out for you? Hope you get in a good workout this morning and that your nose feels better!

Nana- the time explanation sounds so convoluted, but itreally makes sense doesn't it?
OT: I thought of you the other day and how we must be family. :) My BFF got a new car, a CRV. My other BFF told her that she is now officially and Iantosca (my maiden name). My parents are on their third CRV. We/Scott has their first and my mom and dad each have one. My SIL is on her third too. (plus my brother also has a Honda- a sedan, can't think .... oh! Accord!). So add us into the HondaChicc family as well!

Hope that the internet gets fixed too, what a pain! And that your boys feel better today. What is the drs next step for Mike if he doesn't see any improvement soon?

Oh no, Phyllis, you really cant get any relief from the dryness, can you?

Uh-oh, it looks like our collective insOmnia is contagious and Terry has it now. :(
Hope that you survived the day and good luck, safe trip out of town today!

Linda S-- good for you-- very good decision to stay home from work! You deserve it after all of the crazy hours you had to put in for reviews (3 AM even!). You don't want to be sick or overtired for your vacation next week either. (oh my, I am sounding more and more like my mom every day......)

Jen--- keep your temperatures to yourself, please!! -19*?? Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Don't you get enough execise just from chasing around all of your kids??? buahhahahah!

Nnacy- thx for the recipe link, I am going to check it out. Cait is making Jalapeno Cheese soup one day next week and that might go along great!

Trudy-- that fog was exactly the same here. My MIL feeds all of her birds everyday off of her deck and they love to hang out in the tree right in front of it. It looked so creepy yesterday looking out into the fog and seeing all of the birds on the naked tree branches. I would have loved to snap a picture if I had my camera.

That is a fab gift for YMG! I cannot imagine being at a job for 35 years and then leaving. Must have been a very bittersweet day for him, you too.

xoxo

Yeah, we are getting gusts of wind just howling outside too. I love watching the patterns on it tho-- I am such a dork.

Dreams- I dreamed last night that Scott had a huge pile of pot leaves drying out in front of his high school ( *high* school get it?? :drum:) I do NOT want to even think about what that dream meant!!!!

Chris, we got pretty much NOTHING all day yesterday and last night. was kinda looking forward to some wild weather. we're getting snow right now, but i think we never got the wind. i'll have to check out the news to see what happened around the country with this thing. it's going to be FA-REEZ-ING for the rest of the week. sigh. gimme MARCH.

school delays seem like such ancient history to me now. well, i guess that's because it IS ancient history. my oldest is in his early 30s, my youngest in her late 20s. happiest day of my life when i got to cut lose from dealing with schools at ANY level.

today Andersen is coming to measure for the new regular (not garden) window they're putting in to replace the piece of crap that they installed last spring. ( they offered to put in the same garden window again, and i asked them if THEY would want that damned thing stuck on THEIR house, considering what i've been through for the last year.) i am really pissed at these people. the guy i talked to the other day, who is in charge of what refund to give me for this fiasco, intimated that he thought that there was something wrong with my HOUSE that was causing their $5,000 window to leak. i went ballistic. blame the victim. i don't recommend Andersen windows, based on my experience with them and the product. and the PRICE!! why is everything a fight???

ok. today, if the snow doesn't get serious, and after the Window Guy comes, i'm going over to JoAnn Fabrics to try to find some fabric to make some window treaments for the study. what i have up in there now needs to be retired. badly. then maybe i'll make a cherry pie for Hubby. thrilling.

enjoy your Thursday. join Chris in having a Blonde Moment. it could be FUN! :becky:

Good morning - wow the wind is still howling! It was worst last night around 3:30 - I think I am so sensitive to wind because of the power outages with Irene and Sandy but so far no problems for me but there the schools did delay opening. Phylis I too am so glad that I am past dealing with this.

Chris that wind map is so cool! Thanks for sharing your blonde moment story.

Trudy those Boston Bruins are the beasts of the east. They are really good. I was just glad that my team managed a point! It was one of the best games I have seen this season.

Have a great day all!

Okay....that's it from me...I need to fold more laundry....and scrap something :becky:

Morning my "O" Besties!!! Sounds like everyone is in for a howling windy day today!! DD told me that it was +14 (57F) yesterday afternoon and last night it went down to -9 (15F), pouring rain in the afternoon and snow predicted at night Uggghhhh !! It will be a slippery, cold mess!! Out here on the West Coast it is mild and foggy, but no rain, no wind so we are pretty happy here!! :becky:

Chris - I dreamed of you last night!! I was sitting in your living room watching you run around your house like a chicken with its head cut off!!
Chicken_no_head.gif
You didn't know whether to drop the kids at the bus or clean your house and you seemed oblivious to the fact that I was sitting there waiting for you to go for coffee with me!! LOL WTH??? Not sure what that dream meant, except for the fact that I must be a little worried about you? :becky: Love your blonde moment!! Sounds like something I would do!! I must be a part of your family too, I drive a Honda Odyssey, almost time to trade it in though and not sure if we will go Honda again or not, they are great vehicles though!! We have never had a lick of trouble with our Van!!

LindaS - Yikes I hope you can find a place to put your furry friend while you are away!! Hope you didn't leave it too long!! I know that around here you have to book weeks in advance or you are out of luck!! Have you packed your suitcase yet??

Laurie - Have a great day with mostly play and little cleaning!!

Phylis - Could you come and sew some new drapes for my kitchen?? I need to replace mine desperately and have no idea what I want done for window treatments, I made my last ones, but they are pathetic!! I am not a good seamstress!! Give those Anderson guys a good kick in the butt!! Hope you are more satisfied with your new window and you get a nice refund for all of your troubles!!

Nancy - Glad that you enjoyed the game so much!! Hubby has told me that I can't wash his Bruins sweatpants that he wears while they play, because they are on a winning streak and you can't mess with that???? :suspicious: So I told him that when they start to stink, then he is washing them himself!! Hope your power stays on!! Enjoy the day!

NanaLinda - We really are all family here aren't we!! Sure hope your guys are both feeling better soon! Sorry but you can keep your grumpy man today, I don't need another one around here!! LOL. Hope your laundry :washing: gets done in record time today!

Well I have to go do some banking and then pick up some milk, other than that I hope to stay home and get on the treadmill for a bit and do some scrapping. Have a lovely day everyone!!

So I didn't have to go out of town after all! Yea!! I finished a couple of projects on my desk. Have a few more to go!

Took off at 4 and went golfing with my golfing buddy. He and his wife are leaving tomorrow for a month long vacation to Barbados. I'm going to miss golfing with him. When he gets back I'll be leaving for vacation. When I get back he'll be working. He works for my group but usuall does not fill in on weekends so I figure in 6 weeks we will get to golf again. In the meantime, I' m going to practice so I can beat him! We golf pretty much on the same level right now.

Going to scrap some tonight. Already thinking of what I'm going to do on the weekend. Think I'll get some moving boxes and pack up my nieces crap that she left here.

Have a great evening.
