It feels more like a Friday than a Thursday for some weird reason. I think it is that the kids have no classes Thursdays and last semester they had no classes on Fridays. Scott is awake to start on homework but Cait is still in bed. Considering it is not even 7 am, I can't say that I blame her.

Man, I feel really bad for Floyd. I hear him meowing upstairs and I know that he wants to get into one of their rooms. He is a pain in that he meows to get in their rooms and after a few minutes, he meows to get back out. he will wake them up several times each night. Hmmm. Maybe I don't feel so bad for him anymore. I feel bad for my kids! :tongue1:

My good news is that I am slowly feeling better. As much as I miss my Kib, the stress of caring for her the last 2 weeks was really draining, as I know you understand.
I even cooked dinner last night-- as in real food!! I made turkey tacos for Scott, Gary, and me. Tofu tacos for Cait. I will never, ever understand how soy sauce, peanut butter, and spices can make tofu taste like taco filling but Caitlyn really likes it. :noidea:

I also finished the scrap page that I started the day before. Chalk it up as a semi-successful day!

My mom is coming up and is bringing a couple of dinners for us. I am looking forward to hearing about the ceramics class that she took with Leah's mom yesterday. How awesome that she actually went! It sounded like she had fun too when I spoke to her briefly last night.

In the book "Hyperbole and a Half" there are two dogs-- Simple Dog and Helper Dog. Simple dog is- well simple. Ray is our Simple Dog. Helper Dog is a maniac. J is out Helper Dog. When we first got W, we thought that she was going to be another Helper Dog. Then she seemed kind of simple. I think the family's consensus is that she is a Simple Helper Dog.We are going to do the Dog IQ test in the book on her soon. I will let you know what the results are when we do. :pound:

Felis- Oh no, nightmares are horrrible. Have you tried Valerian Root instead of Magnesium? Scott used to use that when Melatonin didn't work. I know that in some countries, you can't get melatonin over the counter so that might not be an option for you.
Peaceful dreams tonight.
Thank you so much for linking Vicki's Word Art!! I am definitely getting that!!! "why does it have to be so cold?" is something that I say over and over and over ;)

Nancy- reading your description of the hockey game made *me* feel all discombobulated. I cannot imagine how "off' the players must have felt.
You would think that sports games would abide by the same set of rules, but I guess like life, it is impossible.
Since our A&P closed, ShopRite is the only supermarket in town. The next "food store" is Walgreens or maybe the deli that sells bread and milk? It is pretty pathetic. I might end up going to the store in New York again when it gets warmer so I won't have to drive in a cold car as long.
Great news that Luther is ok. J seemed better too, I really think that she must have been picking up on our sadness.

Trudy- probably good idea that you skipped the hike since you are off to your son's today. What fun things do you have to do with the grands? Give Storm some belly rubs from me. :dogwalk:

That was weird, my computer was doing odd things so I posted that so I didn't lose it. Ignore the typos!

T- ShopRite had some pretty good copies of name brands but recently they are switching to organic versions of their brand- and of course, it is twice as much money. blergh.
We got a sympathy card in the mail from the vet yesterday. I know that they do that for everyone but it still feels nice that they do it at all.
Too bad that the sun came out and you missed the hike. But I am sure you were able to get lots done anyway.

Rae- I am not a morning person but I find that I like getting as much done as I can early in the day too. Glad that you are getting a great routine down.
Me time. Alone in the house. For more than a half hour? What is that like?????? So jealous!
:D

Jean- sorry to hear that you got snow. It was very windy here too with the cold front moving in. Sounds like you had a productive day, I loved your page about color!

good morning - Well the NHL player safety dept actually came down pretty hard on the hit to the head of my Devil Marcus Johansson. They gave Brad Marchand a 5 game suspension which cost him over $300,000. Cant imagine his wife is too happy about that. But he is still eligible to go to the All-Star game. What a joke. And the sad thing is - he really is a good player. Tonight my team plays the Nashville Predators and that is one of the best teams and was in the Stanley Cup Final last year. Not sure who I will have available for the game but it is likely that both of my regular goalies will be out with lower body injuries so my goalie from the AHL will get the start. So far Ken Appleby has stopped all the shots he has faced when he has to had to come in for relief. This last game before the all star break. My dinner out last night was really nice. We have one girlfriend who always thinks she is over weight and she weighs nothing. So in order to be able to eat pasta she walked from her home in Cranford to restaurant in Westfield not sure how many miles but it took her an hour and a half. It was below freezing and she wore no hat. We gave her a ride home. But we did have good conversations and good to catch up with all and their kids. No political stuff that is off limits LOL. My DH took Luther to vet and he does have the beginning of ear infection so it was good he went but he is does have plenty of energy and my DH was almost not going to take but it is good he did.

Chris so glad that you are doing better. I am going to have to look up that book and see what type of dog Luther is. Love the cartoon. Have fun with your Mom. That is interesting that she took the class with Leah mom that is fun that they are enjoying each other.

Trudy so glad that me being a Devils fan I was not being super sensitive. Sorry that you missed the hike as weather is so changeable. Today we are sunny and will barely get above freezing. Earlier this week we had temps in the 60s. Have fun baby sitting and enjoy the walks with Stormy. I love that name.

Felis nightmares are terrible. Is it not interesting that the ladies all said lavender is the way to go? I did not know this. Hope it helps for you!

Rae good look with the work dump. So glad that your new schedule of early morning work is working so well.

Jean that is too bad your DH did not get to do his survey. Hope the wind was not too bad. It is pretty windy here today. And hope you did not get too much snow!

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. Had a quiet time this morning (D won't be home from his trip til tonight), Taz kept looking in the shower and then out the living room window, looking for D LOL. I read some more of Dr. Oz's new book "Food Can Fix It". It's interesting that he is talking about anti-inflammatory foods, a more plant based diet and healthy fats (so this very similar to what I am doing now). He is so good about explaining things in an easy to understand manner. I've been able to transition over to more veggies/fruit and less protein while still keeping healthy fats high. My weight is stable (65+ lbs gone). For a quick snack or a bit of food while on the road, my go-to now is a Luna Bar, 1/2 of one for a snack or a whole one for a meal replacement. Limited ingredients, no refined sugar and no additives/fillers. So yummy.

BTW....I never did get any scrapping done last night. I ended up cleaning out a closet, got together some clothes for VV (dropped down another size in pants so all my recent purchases from the last few months don't fit now LOL). I'm totally ok with that though b/c I got them at such a cheap price that I'm happy to return them and let someone else get use out of them.

Chris - glad you are feeling better. How fun for your mom, taking a ceramics class. Hope you have a good visit with her today and she brings some yummy food.

Nancy - how crazy for your friend to walk that distance in the bitter cold and no hat. Good thing you drove her home. Poor Luther, an ear infection, but good that it was caught so quickly and can be treated right away. I have to wipe out Taz's ear every week with a cleaning solution to keep them free of bacteria.

Trudy - you'll be off to be the grandkids later. Have fun!

Hope everyone has a great day! I'm getting another coffee and getting to work now.

Morning ladies... I am late getting in here this morning, but it is a :rain: day again today, so I have no plans to go anywhere this morning. I will not be going to my son's until after supper tonight, so lots of time to get my suitcase all packed and figure out what I need to take with me. I might bring my photoshop to install on their computer and my EHD with all my scrapping supplies so that I can try to get some scrapping done while there. No swimming for me this morning as there is a big swim competition going on this morning and all through the weekend. No wonder the water felt so cold when I was doing my laps the other day, they always lower the water temp for the swim meets.

Chris - It does feel more like a friday today than a thursday, guess because I usually don't go anywhere out of town until the weekends. Glad to hear that you are feeling better today! Not sure what the grandkids are going to want to do over the weekend, probably they will drive me crazy to have screen time all weekend :mmph: They are both involved with the swim club there, so perhaps I will have to take them to their lesson? :noidea: I guess I will find out tonight when my son gets here to pick me up. He insisted on coming to get me, so his Dad would not have to make the trip, we tried to convince him to meet us half way, but he wanted to do the trip. So it will be nice to have him here for a nice supper and then we will hit the road together. DH will make the trip up to stay with us on Saturday and go back again on Sunday evening. I think that I will be in Courtney until next Wednesday and I am hoping to meet up with an old friend and have coffee on one of those days. Your description of your dogs personalities is too funny! I really should try to read that book! Isn't it strange that organic food cost so much more? You would think that the price should be less as there is no cost to cover the pesticides and extra things that happen to our regular foods. Shouldn't it be cheaper?? Hope that the kids didn't get woken up too many times by the cat's meowing and that all of you have a good day today!

Nancy - Yes Brad Marchand should be ashamed of himself!! I hope his wife is super pissed at him!! What on earth possessed him to do that hit is beyond me! You are right the sad thing is that he is a great player with lots of talent, why go around doing stupid hits?? He should not be able to be on the All Star Team!! I am looking forward to my nice walks with Stormy, she is a sweetie and hopefully I can get some good photos of the kids and the dog while I am there.

Ok I have had my FaceTime with Heather and Hunter this morning and everyone is doing well! Hunter is already crawling around all over the place and he is only 6 months old. He is a going concern and just wants to keep up to his older brother. Too cute! Off to finish my page that I started two days ago, hopefully I will get it finished and posted today. Sheesh it takes me forever to finish one page!! Hope you all have a wonderful day today! :hello: to everyone else who pops in here today, I will try to catch up with you all later on.

Good evening my dears,
this night will be very cold I think its 12 in in Fahrenheit, and it's the same in Celsius, but with minus. The Biggie dog is not happy to be inside. And poor homeless (tree of them are on my weekly page, but actually the pack is from 10-12 dogs), I hope hugs one each other it's enough! They are wolves at some point, but not at whole, so who knows. Weather is really unfair, yesterday's afternoon was so warm, so totally irresponsible I played outside and even scrap a little. Tonight I have to finish much work, but was worth it, especially because of the temperatures. And the pressure was too much, so I needed to drop it.
Thank you for the suggestions! I like this Badger Sleep Balm with lavender and bergamot, and my sister was give me real lavender in gift bag. But I just can't receive night long sleep. At some days I need to sleep longer or my nerves going very sensitive, here we say 'my nerves are taut', but I'm not sure is it equal on english. In others when the day is not important I just give up and getting up to do something and take a nap later. I definitely have to try Melatonin!

Chris, this book sounds very fun. (It's not translated here  .) I'm glad it helps you! Cait is so smart! Can you left Floyd with Ray, if he have a tolerance to cats, so to not feel lonely?! It's shouldn't to take long before to adjust to the new situation. The ceramics class sounds so awesome! Did you have traditional looks as we?!

Trudy, have a fun with your grands! Hehe and we have a bonus :pupkiss: ! Stormy is the white dog or? Snow Storm :), I'm so agree with Nancy, lovely name! So cute your son to make a trip just for both of you! That show how highly appreciated is your help for them!
I don't wanna make you sad, but need to share that your stories about Mr. Abu inspire me to scrape a page for my monsieur Artois. I still work on it because don't wanna looks like a memorial page. People at the gallery shouldn't know that my pages are actually just a mirror of my past :nono: .

Rae, I'm big Dr. Oz's fan! Actually here we watch the TV show maybe with a year delay, so it's great that he running site and book too! BTW I saw yoga for weight loss videos in mine instructor's youtube channel.

Nancy, poor Luther, good that you are catch this infection early! I like the idea of your friend, I don't mind to walk at cold, but definitely well 'packaged' with woolen hat and gloves. I'm agree with you that sports have to be fair! It's disappointing but here often are suspected manipulation in the soccer, because of the bets who acomolate black money.

Jean, hope you get a better weather today or at least fun inside!

It got above freezing with a little sun so the snow is nearly gone. Had my teeth cleaned this afternoon and things are pretty good, except...my antique crown (over 50 years old) is going to have to be replaced. So sad. I have something strange to tell though. I have had continuing problems with my gums and one time my dentist told me of another patient with similar problems who ate a yogurt every day but when he quit eating it the gums improved. I was also eating a daily yogurt, so immediately quit and my gums are better too. Now he has another patient with a daily yogurt habit who had a dietician get her to quit. And now her gums are better than he's ever seen them. This just sounds too weird to be true, but three examples seems like it's really something.

Chris, congrats on a better day yesterday. Strange today felt like Friday to you as I had to remind myself a couple times that it wasn't but Thursday instead. Bet your mom is bringing yummy food, especially as you don't have to cook it. Love your story about the dog book and the cartoon. I thought about you with the searching for colors and orchid pages as they are sort of anti-winter.

Nancy, so Luther really does have a condition, so good DH took him in. Sounds like you friend at dinner has a condition too, but you all did good taking her home. Professional sports these days are all about the money and the money follows TV and the best ratings come with the top players in an all star game. At least that's my theory. I'm a little grumpy over the baseball Hall of Fame inductees for this year year as former Indian Jim Thome made it his first year of eligibility, but phenomenal shortstop Omar Visquel didn't come close yet. :tape:

Rae, down another size? Wow! You are amazing. Guess that shopping karma is going to be coming into play again. Hope you can get to the scrapping too.

Trudy, have a great time off with the grands and Stormy. Sounds like Hunter is going to be a real handful. When a second one gets mobile I guess the house is already child-proofed though.

Felis, hope you find one of these things will help with your sleep. And not bring on nightmares. The wild dogs in a pack that size could be a big problem. I know you worry about them, but are your animals safe from them? Hope work tonight went well and playing outside was earlier was not a problem.

Cheers, all!

Hmm, Jean, this is actually very complicated question. I'll try to be short. On a daylight pack is separated to 1-3 dogs, which mostly sleeps under some balcony, tree, or other safe place. We know where these places are and just try to not cross their road. Animals react first to a human fear, so if your dog see you are OK with the homeless, he does not provokes them too. Most homeless are very afraid dogs, because often they are victim of human cruelty. If someone is more brave and being reported as aggressive, will be euthanized. Some people reported even gentle dogs, just because of their size.
My Biggie was part of the street pack and my sister choose him, because of his size, which makes him potential suspect. I don't take him on a walks, because he is too big now about 66lb and I'm only 92lb, so I can't control him if something unpredictable happen. But that's OK, because I have big yard. Here is normal people to have a dogs which lives only into their yards. Tiny is very small, so when we meet homeless dog we just hug her and wait till they go away. My friend have a dog part German Shepherd Dog and part free crossing, which was adopted too, and when they meet homeless dog she just stay between both dogs and control her own to keep distance, till the homeless gone.
For the last year one friend of my mom and the dog of my friend was bitten (both are OK, just with few stitches), both was bitten from dogs which owners was there, but couldn't or don't want to stop them. Really on the street you should be more worried that can be robbed or hit by a car, then for a homeless dogs.
