*checks, double checks the calendar* Yes, it is Thursday, Jan 14. My brain is looping all over itself at this point and I am not the only one. My kids were arguing over what day it was yesterday. At this point--> :noidea:
I have to make sure that I pay some bills today, several are due tomorrow and the last thing I can afford is late fees.

Much of my day was watching the news/hearings and texted with Caitlyn as she was watching upstairs. She is making new rat hammocks for her shop while she is on break so she won't have to start from scratch once classes begin. I was making dog treats down here so we would text each other commentary. We are living in some very scary times.
The dogs were very happy to get the homemade treats and I brought some of the smaller ones up to the rats once they were cooled off. Not much else happened- Scott came home and I talked to my mom for a while. She is so happy that he signed up for the seminar. I knew that would help cheer her up. That was about it. Crazy day/boring day all at the same time.

Lather, rinse, repeat for today too.

Be happy!!

Trudy- I really hope that your power stayed on the rest of the day.
I am so frustrated for you about the wall oven. It sounds *exactly* like the BS we were dealing with over the washing machine. Thank goodness you have a good toaster over in the meantime. Sorry that you need to use yucky chemicals to clean it out. Adding insult to injury :/
Well- I am happy that the client is happy even if you hate the painting. Will you do more work for her if she asks now that you know to do the exact opposite of what your instincts tell you to do? ha!
I shouldn't laugh about Hunter and Mason playing off of each other with their haircuts but yup- that is what siblings will do, isn't it?

Linda- I know, it feels likes it should be a joke- Scott is going to be 25 in May and he is not happy about it. He graduated last May and had a job lined up where he did his internship but COVID knocked that plan out under his feet. Shaun is a senior? Oh man- he was such a little guy! I hope that they stay safe and healthy at school, I would be so nervous too. Congrats on getting CC and a collab- which one did you get?

Cheryl- hope that you get your wi-fi hooked up soon!

Kay- Glad that you were able to get all of your shopping done and quickly. I bought those fingertip bandaids for Gary- with all of his finger-injury mishaps, they are very good to have on hand (no pun intended LOL) I hope that you are able to find some gloves. I know it is a pain in the butt, but when I had my PICC line in, I used Saran wrap to keep it dry. It was easier to use than the waterproof medical sleeves and it worked better too. Of course, everyone would hear me cursing as I tried to wrap my arm with one hand and the wrap would cling to itself and I needed to use my teeth to tear it. But it is an idea FWIW and YMMV :pound:

Felis- I am so happy for you having a lovely day!! And MORE PLANTS!!!! Always something I like to hear. You are inspiring me to look for some bulbs, I usually don't plant bulbs because by the time that I am ready to be outside, it is past the planting date. Keep talking about planting things!!
I am laughing at your saying about your mind and diamonds. I have never heard that before and it is cracking me up!
My mom hasn't been feeling good, she only gets out of the house for Drs appts, and gets aggravated that my dad is out and about more often. He was potentially exposed to COVID during a fire call which made it even worse. (He is fine- Thank God- but it was stressful until they got his test results back- and in their true fashion they didn't tell me until they knew :frusty: ). She doesn't have any real hobbies other than reading and she is bored and restless and they take their anger out on each other. All I can do is let her talk and get it all out.
I know - I would love to share seeds with others too, but Scott would be MAD! His research focus/internship project was on how to control invasive plants and if I ever added to that problem he would have my head :jedi :fencing: :laser:
hahah!!

Time to get some breakfast and pay some bills-- HAGD!! xoxo

Morning ladies! I was up early and showered and dressed and got my grocery order in already. I will pick up tomorrow morning. We are totally out of Milk, so DH will not have any for his cereal in the morning :mmph: I don't consume any milk so being out doesn't bother me LOL but I must have my cream for my coffee or watch out!! Today DH will come home for lunch as only two are allowed in the lunch room at his work at one time. He really likes to take the drive home for lunch, even though it makes for a short lunch hour. It breaks up his day and he can get out of the building even if its just for a little while. So I am making him call Maytag today to see if this part that we need will be covered or not. I am betting that it won't :mmph: Hopefully I am wrong! Not much else happening here today, except that I need to get the hanging hardware on my painting and get it boxed up so I can ship it outta here! Hopefully the cost will not be astronomical for the client! Hope to do a challenge page today too, so please, please send me some scrapping mojo would you?? Thanks!

Chris - Glad you were able to cheer your Mom up a bit! It must be so hard when there is nothing to occupy your time during these stay at home days! I am so happy that I have the hobbies that I do! Yes I am getting pretty frustrated with this oven and I hope that you are no longer having issues with your washing machine! It is so awful that you pay so much money for appliances and then they turn out to be lemons!! We will never buy Maytag again EVER!! Yes the client says that she would like a couple more smaller pieces from me, but hopefully not in the dark crazy colours she picked this time LOL. I shouldn't complain should I? I we all had the same taste, the world wold be a pretty boring place! Oh and yes the power did stay on all day! We were lucky as so many were without power all night too!

Felis - How nice to hear of your lovely day! Sounds like your garden will be very pretty this spring! Hope you get the bulbs you want and that they are not to expensive! I have some daffodil bulbs in the back but I keep forgetting to get new ones in the fall when they need to be planted, so hopefully the old ones will come up again this spring! There is a reason why you are not supposed to mail seeds to anyone Felis! There are so many invasive plants here from China and the UK. It is an ongoing battle to try to get rid of them as they take over and choke out our native plant life. I hope that you get some more scrapping done and that today was another lovely day for you!

Kay - You had a very busy shopping day yesterday! Hope you are able to find the gloves that you need for your poor finger today! The casserole you are making sounds yummy for sure! Funny that your DH was on the fence about it. LOL

Linda - Sure hope that things will be safe for your kiddos in school! It is a scary time for them for sure! Glad that you got your Photoshop CC, hope you are enjoying learning all the new things you can do with it!

Cheryl - Ugh on having to go back to the old place, sure hope you can get your wifi soon at the new house! I would be going bonkers without it!

Well I need my second cup of coffee and then I should start to get the hardware on this painting. Hopefully I can ship it out tomorrow! I am not sure I want to show a photo of it as I really am not happy with it, but the client is so I guess that's all that matters. Will spend the afternoon here at the O and getting a page done. Wish me luck!!

We had a nice time birding on Tuesday even though it was very cloudy. I even scrapped a photo from it: https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=441077&title=a-day-in-january&cat=all. Of course it was sunny and a bit warmer yesterday when I had one genealogy session in the morning and hosted the senior center genealogy group in the afternoon. I know I made dinner and we watched Nature and Nova on PBS, but not sure what else got done. It's even sort of sunny today which was a surprise.

Chris, the news is nuts and so is the so-called roll out of the vaccines. DH will be eligible starting next week, but there won't be enough for the folks that age and trying to sign up isn't a thing yet. I too am glad Scott signed up for the seminar. He needs to be doing and a learning environment never hurts. Talking about siblings, it has to be harder even with Cait so busy. :tape2:

Trudy, darn that oven! Hoping it won't be too pricey to fix (and that it's really fixed!) I wondered about sharing a photo of the painting but decided you probably wouldn't want to share when you don't like it. I don't think I would either. Felis had a nice idea to motivate the boys to let their hair be cut. At their age it's probably a little funny, but still.

Felis, good news on a lovely day, and YES to seeds and flowers. More flowers can only be good I think. Hope you find a less expensive way to get bulbs too. Give Middleton a hug but don't make him carry his food dish, eh?

Linda, it was pleasant surprise to see your picture turn up again. I probably was still just lurking in the Daily Ooo's when you were here, but I do remember you from then. Lots of dog and other pet LOs here, so that will fit right in.

Cheryl, good luck getting your real internet set up in the new house. How's the unpacking going?

Kay, I think I would have been uncertain about the casserole too, but might also have really liked it. Hope you get the gloves and that finger keeps healing.

Hello lovelies.

Thanks for all of the good wishes for me to get "real wifi"! I was trying to watch Roku (which runs off the wifi) and I had to turn it off so I could get anything at a decent rate of speed on my laptop. Grrrrrrr. It's such a PITA to run down there just to download and upload files. DH and I both had to take our laptops down there yesterday afternoon. He needed to download Webroot - NO way that's going to download. I had 12 files to download. I upload them to my files while I'm there, too. What a hassle.

Rat hammocks??? SO adorable, I'm sure. You guys kill me - you're making dog treats and Cait's making rat hammocks.

Weather is sunny, windy and 54 today! Not bad for January 14, huh? We found a great solution for Daisy "wandering". DH bought a 100 feet long rope and we hook it to her collar, at the front door, and let her go. She can go half way down the hill. She kept going down to the barn (where we used to live). It scares me because there's a lot of heavy construction traffic up and down our road now. DD's house construction is in full swing and only about 600 feet from our house. One of the workers brings his dog to work with him, too. Also, dogs run free here - we get random dogs just coming to visit. I'm sure they're harmless, but she's fearless. There are also coyotes in the area. We hear them howling every night. A black bear has also been spotted. Still lots of deer - my gd counted 7 off the road the other evening.

Hope all is well - I guess the gallery is down? Jean, I tried to look at your picture and never could get it to load. I chalked it off to MY computer. Work is starting!! Also, Jean, the unpacking is going pretty well. We just try to do a little each day. Ava came over yesterday and hung a bunch of things for me. They got us a "Welcome Home" sign and I really wanted to hang it outside, but didn't want to drill into the house. Our son-in-law hung it for me and it looks beautiful! Just to the right side of the front door. He made our front door by hand, so it's extra special! If any of you have seen our front door in my album, SIL made that!

Good day! Hockey is back. For my team the first game it tonight. It is fun as there are a lot of new players, younger one getting a real chance. That will make me happy even if they wont be winning many games. Yesterday went to my favorite birding spot in NJ Forsythe NRW. It was so fun. I had been seeing that there was a snowy owl and bald eagles so we went to see. We found the bald eagle but not the owl. But we also saw some birds we rarely see, ring-necked ducks, green winged teal, and a merlin. Also saw a lot of hood mergansers and buffleheads. Fun to see theThe merlin is a little falcon and it was sitting on a sign. Most cars just drove by and my DH would have too if I had not told him it was a hawk. But I am sad as my camera is not working as it should. There are spots and the battery was used up too fast. OH well. Luckily my DH took some great shots. I am watching a very dark show called the Widow on Prime Video. It is Kate Beckinsale as the widow who suddenly thinks her husband is alive. She has to go to the Congo. Lots of twists and turns. I am still walking Luther. I try to just walk more each day. I was trying to get it to get to 10K steps and today by walk a little over 4 miles I did it.

Chris yes each day seems like the last. Watching the news that more and more of those that stormed the Capital are being arrested is a start. The weather had been amazing lately. A little windy but not too bad. I am hoping this weather stays for a while. That was so nice of Scott to cheer your mom.

Trudy that is wonderful news that the client like the piece. So sorry about the oven. Nothing seems easy to fix these days. I thought if I had a new thermostat then the furnace would work but alas no the thermostat does not tell the furnace to turn off.

Kay wow you were a fast at getting all your shopping errands done. I am impressed.

Jean being outside is great! Glad you saw the bald eagle. We got back our final results on the Christmas bird count and the number of bald eagles seen was more than doubled. And while in past years they were mostly along the Delaware River and south Jersey this increase is along the Raritan River. Fourteen were seen at one time in a park near Sayerville. That makes me happy!

Rae I love the photos of the new puppy and so glad that Taz is okay with this new addition. Not sure how I would walk two at once though.

Felis planting all those seeds and having flowers will be so nice. Glad you got all those files downloaded. That must have been one long effort.

Linda good to see you again.

Waving to all!

Hello girls!
It's so cold today! One of these days when sun tricks you to get out only to find that it is away and complacent. I deeply regretted that I didn't take my hat, my poor ears.
Then had to go to the work and yes, the meeting was as I expected. The criticism was not good for my self-esteem, but at the same time it wasn't so bad. I'm working on a new page too, but have to find the finishing detail, something isn't enough. I mixed seven kits, but still something missing. It's a very special for me page, so I don't want just to post it, first have to feel it completed and perfect! Sometimes you have to step back and wait next, or even few days.
I'm with Chris, can't believe that half of the month is gone!

Nancy, sorry for your camera problems, but the trip sounds lovely itself! WOW, this is a long walk, especially in winter time, I'm impressed! I'm using cold as an excuse for very short dog walks.

Cheryl, oh, the yard dogs here spend biggest part of their daytime on chain, this allows them to attack if someone comes at your property, but prevent to escape. Guardian dogs are aggressive, as the crime level are high. You can see the dog house on some of my photos, which is for his day sleep.
Your front door is lovely, but my favorite is the sliding door! Also you have so many makrame at one of the rooms, are they made by you?

Jean, this photo is so pretty, somehow I love more winter and autumn nature, your hubby looks so calm and concentrated! Nice to hear that you enjoyed your trip! Can recognize myself in your words too, so less things happen on me, so I'm often wondering for what to write for that day. Oh usually the garden centers makes one big sale with all unsold bulbs at the end of spring and autumn, so then will be my chance.

Trudy, Oh, it's so sweet that your husband comes to have lunch together! Actually you did it great with this challenging painting that send you out of your comfort zone! So I hope it will be easier with the smaller!
What you said about the invasive plants make sense. And it wasn't came to my mind before. But at the same time if I'm store I can send them, it's seems to be illegal between friends, but if it's business they don't stop you, that is what's confused me. Now I'm worried and hope that there have some restriction for garden stores too! I adore daffodils too!

Chris, you are good daughter! My mom is same as yours, the only 'hobby' she have is watching news and depressing documentary shows. We trying (with my sister) to find her something that may like, but not successful yet. Oh and she is terrible with the computer, so no chances for something online.
I really have to learn more about greenhouse and pot planting before the spring. Have one girl on IG that gives lovely advises, and I follow her, but not actually listen  . I was watch at my old profile where I'm describe myself as 'eco gardener' L O L , this is such a lie! I do grown my vegetables without using chemicals, but that's it, I don't have skills or knowledge as these Instagram gardeners. LOL The conceit of youth.
What's actually happened with the big plants around your sidewalk, that has to prevent the awful lady and her dog to used your lawn? I remember you was plan to add some.
Oh, the quote about the brain is actually Maroon 5's verse. The biggest part of my english knowledge is based on songs lyric.

Good evening ladies! What a day! So glad for this wonderful refuge at the O!

Chris, I agree. how did we get to January 14? I work from home so I admit, the days are pretty similar. But I have a three day weekend coming up so that is keeping me going. I’m sorry that your mom is having a hard time. We are living in strange times.

Trudy, I sure admire your commitment to cooking. If my oven went out, I’d be done. You should all be thankful you didn’t have me here last summer when we were waiting for our pool to be built. Someday I’ll make a page...probably a double page...to document the insanity.

Jean,I left some love on your birding page. It is beautiful! Genealogy is a hobby of mine as well so we will need to trade notes.

Cheryl, it sounds like you are in the middle of building a new house? Where are you from that you have so much wildlife?

Nancy, I had forgotten what a hockey fan you were! Love the fact that you also do birding! Anxious to hear more details.

Felis, I’m not sure what your first language is but your English is great! Obviously song lyrics have been a great teacher.
