Hallelujah, it is above freezing! Sure, it is raining and making a mess of the snow on the ground but it isn't snowing at this moment. Talk to me in 12 hours when the temps plummet and all of this turns to snow and ice. But for now at least, I should be able to get to my dentist appt without any problem. *knocks wood* This is the one I had to keep rescheduling so I really don't want o do that again.

I was totally exhausted yesterday and only got a few of the things on my list done. They are back up there today. I called the county *again* and still haven't gotten a call back from them. If I don't hear today, I will call the electric company to see if they have any info. I can't tell you how much agita this is giving me.

Not much else happening here. Quick personals ad then I am going to get in the shower.

@LSlycord Your siggie is perfect for V-Day. Hope that the weather is wonderful for you and you can soak up some sunshine. Hahaha!! Shaun is too cute, wishing that Andie could have been a mom. If that were my family, we would have ended up with the mom and *all* the pups LOL!!!!! Woah!! 280 comments- I know if it "only" 10 a day but no way could I keep it up. Good luck, you rock!

@scribler J is actually doing fine with the donut. Better than I expected.
She made me laugh, she was looking at herself in the mirror. Normally that would make her growl a little bit. This time, she would wag her tail. Look some more. wag her tail a little harder.

@BrightEyes how are you doing with the snowstorm? hoping that you have no problems with power and that you are warm and cozy. That is fantastic news about Leslie!! I had been so worried. Let her know that we are all rooting for her to get well soon!

@taxed4ever did you and your Gary have a wonderful day together? And is he back to being underfoot today? LOL
Hope that Heather and her boys are all safe and warm as well.

@bcgal00 How did the first day of showings go? I hope that everything goes smoothly and quickly. J's staples are on her hip so the t-shirt wouldn't work for her but I will keep that in mind if anyone needs that in the future *more knocking wood*
Don't worry about personal, it is just lovely to see you in here.

@Kythe will the neighbor whose leak it was be responsible for paying your plumbing bill?
Hope things are looking up today

@tjscraps Did you get to scrap last night?? I bet that you needed that downtime. I am like you, I need to be alone occasionally, even knowing that Gary is upstairs isn't the same vibe as having the house to myself.

@Cherylndesigns all of my fingers and toes are crossed that your power stays on and the storm is not so bad. Is it all the same storm that we are getting tonight?
So funny that you mentioned the tanning salon. Back in the day when I didn't care about sun damage, I would go to a tanning salon and I swear, it helped.
Eeeeeew!! Why would anyone let their pool get so *bad*?? Bet you wanted to wear a HAZMAT suit for some of those jobs

@mom2triplets04 That was a lot of running around, I was exhausted reading it ;) Sounds like this trainer is working out so far!

Good morning ladies! I wish that you could all be here having coffee with me right now. It is a beautiful morning with the birds chirping and singing. Gorgeous sunshine and slight breeze...temp is 57* and going to 80*. I do need to clean the pool a bit but I'd make some pastries and I'm sure that the hugs and talking would make it so that we didn't even care about the pollen line on my pool tile. LOL I have turned into a daydreamer.

Yesterday wasn't a good day. I found out that I didn't get the job that I interviewed for. Still some things in the pipeline but I'm starting to think that I'm not going to wind up back in the corporate world. Which isn't a terrible thing but it is a huge change and I really need to think about what I would like to do. I am not sure that there is much demand for paper chain countdowns although I'm pretty good with those.

Then, Decker and Hayden got into a bit of a fight...Hayden was coming down the stairs on leash with Shaun and Decker was waiting for her. When Hayden walked through the baby gate, Decker went after her and scared her. Hayden tried to get away and Decker kept trying to come after her. We absolutely can't have that. Shaun's only class today is this evening and Syd only has one as well. So we will try to make more effort to socialize the two of them. Decker and Andie are fine together. Andie will play with him for awhile then sit down and Decker seems to know enough to leave her alone.

And while in the middle of this post, I got a call about an interview tomorrow. They had interviewed me once before and liked me but closed the job due to a project not getting funded. This is another position at the same company. So who knows?

Then we took Hayden and Decker out for a walk together...the chaos around here continues.

Personals before I forget what I was doing...

@faerywings I know what you mean about not accomplishing much on the to do list. Hope that the dentist goes well today. That will give you a lift to check that off of your bucket list I'm sure! Any news about Scott and the job? Well, we will see if I can get the 280 or not. I'm not on pace right now so I need to pick it up! And I agree with Cindy @scribler, if the cone isn't bothering her when she sleeps, I would leave it on. Of course, I should talk...I have always struggled with cones and shirts and anything else that we need to put on the dogs.

@BrightEyes I sure hope that the power has stayed on for you. Keeping the thermostat at 62 would be pretty awful in my opinion. I would be under the blankets and in a robe for the duration. But, yes, I guess we all learned a lot from the Texas freeze. So glad to hear about the progress that Leslie is making!

@taxed4ever saw the photo of you and Gary on FB...looks like you had a very good time at lunch. Hope that the cheesecake turned out! Cheesecake is my idea of the perfect way to celebrate a birthday.

@bcgal00 I always found house showings to be a bit more inconvenient when I had dogs to take care of. But I love the way that you are doing it....giving them a few days for showing and then doing a best offer. We had talked about selling this one to get a bit closer to the ocean however, we couldn't find anything we liked as well as this. So I am pretty sure that we are here to stay until Syd and Shaun are finished with college, we will talk about it again. That's probably at least 3 years.

@Kythe sorry for the hassles on the leak. But very happy that you get to share that morning coffee with your daughter. I can imagine that is a memory that you will both go back to in years to come.

@tjscraps I am so sorry that your husband has had so much trouble. I'm sure that you all want to move on and get this over with. Hope that you are feeling better today and that you enjoyed This is Us. I sit watching it, holding my breath each time because I don't know when things will progress and when they will go backward. It didn't matter to me before but since this is the last season, I am definitely on the edge of my seat.

@Cherylndesigns I laughed about the pool. When we first moved down we rented until we could find the house that we wanted. The rental had a pool and it was cleaned every week but honestly, the kid didn't do much. We looked for someone to clean it when we first installed it but it was right in the middle of Covid (July 2020) and we couldn't find anyone with availability so we decided to try it. We just use the net to remove debris and then we put the automatic robot on and he does most of the work. Weekly, I dip out a bottle of water and take it to Pinch a Penny and they tell me what to adjust. It's a saltwater pool so I think it's a little bit easier. Brian normally uses the net and does all of the hard work. I put the vacuum in the pool. Now that I'm not working, I'm trying to do a bit more of that. We will see what happens if I go back to work. Hope that the storm didn't materialize for you.

@LSlycord A call back is always a good sign especially if it is for a position you didn't interview for. good luck.

@faerywings DH thinks it best to be a good neighbour and pay for damage and repair ourselves. The neighbour has fixed the problem but we will report the incident to Strata and have it on record as the neighbour told us he wasn't going to open up the wall to dry it out. When I said that there could be a mold problem if it didn't dry correctly his answer.. "Oh well we are out of here in 18 months". He figures the complex will be sold by then.... uh not likely

I am hoping to scrap today. I might have to succumb to house chores instead. Heading to the gallery to leave some love.

Good noon. LOL I almost made it "morning".

Chris @faerywings yes, I'm sure it's the same storm front. It's a swath across the whole US - my stepson lives in Dallas and they're in a mess with ice down there. They definitely can't handle it! Chuck was right - he's the "weather guy" I swear. He's been studying the Gulf Streams for days. We got a couple of inches, but it's cold! 18 degrees right now!! Daisy will NOT go out - she IS a princess after all and besides the cold, doesn't want to get her princess paws in that white stuff. Cat went in and out about 5 times last night - he stayed out for about 5 minutes then came back in. He's really mad! He was pulling shenanigans like crazy last night - Chuck and I were cracking up at him. He finally settled down about 11 pm and gave up. I don't know how long Daisy can hold "it" but the cat has his litter box, although since he's out all night, he hasn't used it in forever. Maybe we can get Daisy to use it. BWAHAHA She REFUSES to go out!

Glad it's warmed up a bit for you even though you have snow. It's supposed to warm back up in a few days, so we're holding onto that. So far, our electricity has not failed us. We kept our fireplace on all night - just in case - it's pretty toasty in the family room. If we lose power, we lose that too - it's electric. We're all planning for the possibility and thinking we might all have to head for a hotel if it comes to that. Adrienne and Roger have about 4 fireplaces, but they're all gas except the one outside. Who's gonna sit out there? ROTFLMBO

Yes, Chris and Linda @LSlycord that pool ordeal with the black gunk on the bottom was really something. No, I didn't have a hazmat suit, but one would have been nice. I remember wearing something on my feet so I wouldn't have to stand in it. I was NOT happy with that woman AT all. She was all like "I have NO idea what this is" - yeah right lady - it's called total neglect.

Linda @LSlycord how wonderful that you have a saltwater pool! If we had ever put one in, it would have been saltwater. Some of our friends put a pool in and they did that and it was SO nice and made such a difference. If you have a Pool Sweep, you should be set. You know, you can buy a home test kit - save yourself a trip to Pinch A Penny. Good ole Pinch A Penny - we used to go there too. Sorry you didn't get the job, but you probably weren't supposed to. Something better will come along. Sorry the dogs are fighting, too. :(

Kythe @Kythe hope you get to scrap today.

Kay @BrightEyes and Trudy @taxed4ever are you in this huge swath of snow and ice???

I'm going to sign off and get a few things done.

Hugs to all and stay warm.

Good morning ladies... I am very late getting in here and have just lazed around all morning having coffee and enjoying my DH's company! We both got to talk to Heather and the boys this morning as they are having yet another snow day. Got my month end stuff caught up here and sure hope to be able to spend some time scrapping, but not going to hold my breath as DH would like to get out for a walk very soon. I am sure he will keep me busy with other chores around here too LOL. Oh well, its nice to spend time with him! We are looking at maybe getting away somewhere soon, no place too far away, perhaps one of the islands near by to see what they have to offer in the way of hiking and perhaps stay at a spa for a day or two. A lot of places are all booked up and we were thinking of going to Tofino again, but OMG the prices have quadrupled and the highway is still being worked on with wait times up to 4-5 hours on some of the route. So that is off the table. It is keeping my Gary busy searching for nearby places to go, so that is good!

@faerywings - Good luck with your dentist appointment today, hope it goes as smoothly as my last one did! Yes my Gary and I had a lovely day together and enjoyed some Vietnamese food for lunch and then had Cheese Cake for supper LOL. We were still so full from lunch that neither of us wanted any supper. The cheese cake turned out perfect and I even made a Keto chocolate syrup to drizzle over our pieces, yummy!!! Heather and the boys are having fun just hanging out and playing games etc. I am sure Heather is very ready for the boys to go back to school tomorrow!!

@LSlycord - Sorry that the dogs were not getting along yesterday! Hopefully you can get them to all like each other soon! How exciting to get the call back for your Interview, I will keep my fingers crossed that you get the job that you want! Although I don't know why you would want to go back to work LOL. I wish we could all join you for coffee around your pool, we would never judge you on the pollen buildup on your tile ;) .

@Kythe - Well at least you got to the bottom of the leaking problem, although I would think that if your neighbour was a good one he would offer to pay for your plumber!! Hope things start to get better with the issues of the sale of your condo!! It must be so very stressful!

@Cherylndesigns - No we are one of the few provinces that will not be in the path of this snow storm thank goodness! Its just gotten back to being foggy and misty here, but that beats snow storms any day!

Ok off to make a pot of coffee, seems I go through much more coffee when DH is home from work! Have a great Thursday everyone!

There were dire predictions for our weather, but it seems like it won't be quite so bad. Yesterday was the rain turning to snow last night. It continues to snow. Don't know how much we'll get or how much ice is under it. Since it's windy, the snow is drifting. We have no need to go out before Monday, so the only thing that matters is keeping the power on. We got a taste of outage Tuesday when the power was out in the neighborhood for under an hour. Having a gas furnace it makes me so mad that it is controlled electrically, so no power still means no heat. Because of the warnings art class today was not on the table at all. Nice thing is watching five goldfinch coming to their feeder.

Chris @faerywings hope the dentist appt went well and your to do list gets more checks. So love the page with Braxton and friend.

Linda @LSlycord how nice to get a call back for another position. They clearly liked your interview. I'd love to sit by your pool but never having had one know nothing about their upkeep.

@Kythe sometimes it's easier to just do your thing like pay the plumber yourself. Don't like the idea of mold possibly growing in a shared wall though. Good luck with everything there.

Cheryl @Cherylndesigns love your stories about the princess and Sam. Hope your weather doesn't get too bad.

Trudy @taxed4ever Lovely time with your MG and glad his birthday was so lovely but I wish he didn't always need to keep you busy with him. OK for now, but good grief if he ever retires. Getting out to somewhere nearby will be heavenly!

Good luck to us all with this weather!

I have a little one (5 yrs old), I am never truly alone in the house lol But I did get some down time, and started my taxes instead of scrapping lol!

Today I got to go into the office - and wear real pants. Ok, well, leggings. But they weren't PJ pants, so it was a good day. I am off to leave some love in the gallery :)

We got snow that melted as soon as it hit the warm ground, street and sidewalks in the early morning yesterday. Then the temps dropped and we got SNOW... big flakes. There were white-outs all over town due to the blowing snow. My house didn't get as much as forecasted ... but my DD#3 got between 6"-8". Think there was about 5" on my patio/neighborhood. Luckily the power stayed on. The sun came out this afternoon but can't believe the snow started melting as it was only 23* for a high. The worse of the storm is past us but the cold is going to be brutal... - will be lucky to make it into the low 20's in the daytime... and 4* and 6* for the next few nights. Wind chills will be in the -10* to -20* for a few more days/nights. Will be leaving the cabinet doors under the sinks open until it warms back up. Don't want any broken water lines from freezing temps.

Been feeling lethargic most of the day... probably because I kept waking up off and on most the night. I fell asleep when trying to read this afternoon. Planning on having an early night. Talked to my niece this afternoon... they only got a couple of inches at the RV park. She has some shopping to to do tomorrow but plans on coming over on Saturday for her last visit with me before she leaves on Sunday.

Hope those of you who are in the midst or path of the storm can stay warm and ride it out at home.

Trying to limit my on line. But boy have I been crazy busy. Worked on my one little word today for February doing vision board for ENOUGH in my journal. Also watched two shoes fringe and peacemaker with my hubby and one daughter. Also cooked ribs today. Luckily Myla was a good girl today as the puppy camp yesterday really makes her tired. She goes to puppy camp tomorrow. I need to watch some videos for her training. LAT game and Whistle recall that the trainer gave me to watch before next Tuesday.

Well, I woke up to freezing rain, but the temp stayed right at 32 degrees all day so it didn't build up but a half inch or so until the sun started down. We had a break for about 2 hours right before then, but the sleet started just at dusk. If it will hurry up and convert to snow, we will be good. However, if it doesn't and the sleet continues, we will almost certainly lose power. In the big storm of 2009 we were only without power at our house for 3 days but most of the county for 10. We went to my MIL's where they had a generator that would run a couple of things at a time, enough for the fridge to stay cold, lights, TV (Jason was only 10 so that was important) and a big propane heater that kept her whole mobile warm. We could cook on it, too, as long as it was things like beans and stew that cooked all day long. We don't have that option this year.

Our heat pump already can't keep up so we are likely to get cold as the temps are heading into the teens, but it will get really cold since we only have our little fireplace if the power goes out. Good thing we love each other in this house. The three boys can surround me and keep the cold out, but they will have to snuggle in. They are so funny - not a thought in the world when they were little, and not much now except that they get a little embarrassed and uncomfortable if it lasts too long! We have drinking water, water for flushing (we have a well and the pump is electric, so 55 gal drum on porch heated by an aquarium heater for now so it doesn't freeze as long as possible and plenty of 5 gal buckets so we can fill the reservoir), a couple dozen boiled eggs and other food - ham, yum! - and other stuff to eat so we are good there, too. And oh my, I could hear my little girl cat Sophie making noise and chirping but I couldn't find her. She just came popping out from under the bed where's she's been laying on top of the register closest to my desk. She's toasty and I'm frigid. Wonder why, she asks, tongue in cheek!

We all got up late today since the university closed yesterday until this is over, so our dining schedule if off. Gotta go make breakfast for dinner.

Stay safe, y'all!
