24 Days Until Spring!
(Right now, I am the raccoon, in semi-hiding while I readjust myself back into Winter Snow Mode.)

It was such a tease yesterday, it felt like spring for just that day. And it was *wonderful!* Gary had the window open for a while in the afternoon. Personally, I wouldn't have gone that far but it made him happy and I was fine putting on an extra sweatshirt.
The extra bit of energy was good too- I did more yesterday than I have in a long time. I picked up the groceries in the morning and then cleaned up the kitchen, cleaned for my friend, and then.... *drumroll* I went for walk with my other friend. She texted me while I was still cleaning but I asked if she was ready to go soon because if I sat down after I got home, that would be the end of me. ;)
It was still chilly but felt good to get out in the fresh air.
I got to see the kitty, his name is Shadow and he is a very pretty boy. He was tucked up near some boxes so I didn't try to pet him or anything but he let me talk to him without running away.

No major plans today other than getting ready for the snow and ice that is moving in overnight. *grumbles* I have heard everything from 1-3 inches of snow and sleet up to what Gary heard 8-10" of snow. I haven't seen that forecast personally and am ignoring it until I know otherwise, just gonna tell myself that he was wrong. Ha.
Laura got me in the mood to bake so I might make some brownies if I am lazy or something more involved if I get motivated.
I know I am going to do something to keep me occupied other than scrolling through the news. :(

Hugs to you all! HAGD!

@felis Hoping that things are calm in your country and they stay that way xoxo

@taxed4ever How did you do at the pool? I hope that you aren't down on yourself if you weren't able to do as many laps as you used to do. Remember the last time you went back for a break-- it didn't take you long to get back into the rhythm of it all. Think of it this way too- every lap you do is one more than I did haha!
OMG-- what a family secret that you found out too. That is awesome that you were able to meet your niece!
The only "big" family secret that I know is that my aunt eloped with her husband. It wasn't that big of a secret but something just not really spoken about. Eloping is not something good Catholics would consider so it had to have been a scandal back then. There has to be more than that, just statistically speaking, I would think so. Makes me wonder all over again what my grandma told my mom...

@bcgal00 Is the weather that much different where you are going? I guess living on the coast you get the warmer currents coming up like Trudy has too. Remi is going to be soooo darn happy to have lots of snow to play in. She is such a cutie- herding you :)
Caitlyn wishes that she was able to send you pictures of the babies to share with B when she first got them. xoxo

@BrightEyes Whew, it all sounds like the medical stuff was a bit hairy but then all good news! That is good to hear. Really good.
How is the weather today? It feels like snow here which means I am more than a bit achy. Hope that isn't happening to you too. Stay warm and cozy

@Cherylndesigns my goodness, it feels like the entire country is getting hit by the cold/snow/sleet. Well, NOT Linda. As she brags about the sun and heat Hmmmmph!!! LOL!!
That is sad that Chuck will not get to meet the lost siblings. I would have so many questions!

@LSlycord Woo hoo on the first day done!
I am really sorry about Decker, give Shaun a hug for me. I hope that he is able to find a good home, he deserves to be spoiled as king of the family :D
Is it just you and Syd flying home? So exciting!

HAGD!

For some reason, I woke up at midnight after 3 hours of sleep. Looked out to see snow falling with a light covering on the ground. Crawled back into bed an hour later and managed to fall back asleep. Got up to about 2" of snow and 19*. Brrr... Definitely a day to hibernate. Should be warming up tomorrow to the 50's. Both DD#1 and DD#3 called me yesterday to see how I am doing. Talked to both of them for almost an hour each. Nice way to spend part of the day. Also had another friend call and spent some time talking about next month's RH lunch. Have a change in venue and time due to other appointments of hostess. Just need to be sure to write down the details.

@faerywings - it must have been nice to have a window open if only for a short while. And extra sweater on is worth it to air the house some. Glad you were able to get so much done yesterday and get out to visit with your friend. Wow... you got a lot done. I am sure you will do even more once Spring actually arrives.

@felis my heart is aching for what is happening there. Sending prayers that you will be safe.

@LSlycord Glad your day went okay. It takes a bit to get back into the swing of working. I know it is sad that it didn't work out for Decker... but glad that those at the shelter understand the issues with him and the other dogs. Hoping that they can find him a forever home where he is an only dog. Heading back to Iowa and winter!!! You will definitely get your fill of winter there! Stay warm and enjoy the visit.

@Cherylndesigns Did you wake up to snow today, too?? Yikes that you are also dealing with icy roads, too. Haven't talked to DD#2 in Branson but bet she is dealing with all that, too.

Am off to do a bit of scrapping. Hope everyone has a good day.

Yes, we woke up to more snow and it's up to 27 right now. Heat wave. Roger tried to get down the big hill to go run an errand and he couldn't even get down! None of us is going anywhere for a few hours. It SHOULD start to melt by tomorrow - supposed to be in the 50's again in a couple of days - sounds like we're having the same weather.

It's SO nice that you got to talk to both of your daughters. We're hibernating too - we were prepared and don't need anything for a day or so. We have deliveries down at the bottom of the hill, but they'll have to wait - I doubt if Roger's guy can even get them up here. Nothing urgent. All of our stuff gets delivered to the house down there.

Good Morning everyone... Well not such a good morning for those in the Ukraine!! The news is horrifying!! What more can I say?? @felis My heart breaks for you and I hope that you are able to keep safe!! It is another chilly morning here and the only thing I have to get done today is to put in my grocery order. I did get a page done for a Pre-release yesterday and hope to do another today! Yesterday's attempt at getting back at the pool to swim my laps never happened. :( I arrived there all swim ready and thought, wow the parking lot is pretty empty?? I get to the reception area where I have to show my proof of vaccination and there are signs everywhere saying that the pool water is 10-15 degrees colder than usual. WTH??The woman told me that the boiler that warms the pool has been broken for a few days. They expect the new one to arrive on Saturday and hopefully the pool will be back to normal temps by Monday or Tuesday. So I asked her just how cold is the lap pool?? 67 degrees and getting colder . Are you kidding me?? I may as well swim in the Lake LOL. Anyway we had a nice chat and I told her that I would come back when it is warmer and so I loaded up my swim card and got some tokens for the lockers and headed home. So much for that idea!! Guess I should have gone on the hike :(. Oh well it is what it is and I spent the rest of the day sorting through a Norwex order that arrived and then taking my Sister her order and we had a good visit and a cup of coffee.

@faerywings - Awww love your cute little raccoon hiding behind that beautiful flower! Hurry up Spring!!!! Sorry that you are headed back into Winter today YUCK!!! I hope that your Gary is wrong and you don't get all that snow! Sounds like you did have a very productive day yesterday! Hope you get your Brownies made today, the house will smell like chocolate heaven!

@tanteva - I totally agree the news this morning was very upsetting!! What in world is Russia doing??

@BrightEyes - Brrr it sounds cold and snowy where you are! How nice to spend part of your day in conversation with your kids! It is always the highlight of my day when my DD face times with me! Hope your next RH lunch is lots of fun for you!

@Cherylndesigns - Your weather does not sound great either! Hopefully it warms up for you all very soon! Good plan to just stay where you are and hibernate for a bit. Gives you more time to scrap right??

Ok I am off to the shower and then perhaps a trip to my fav little craft store and see what I can find there. Have a great day everyone! Stay safe and warm especially you @felis !!

Oh no more snow? We got more today and sleet - we're having thunder and lightning too - SO weird! It's 27 right now and going back up into the 50's in a couple of days. It's very slick here - Roger tried to go out this morning and couldn't even make it down the hill. We're all staying put for awhile - it's going to start melting here tomorrow, and we have everything we need.

When none of them can get out, you know it's slick. Nothing keeps them in - they could get out in the Artic Cats if they really needed to - I'm surprised the kids aren't out riding around right now. We have a gas station/convenient store on the main road at the top of the property and they run that up there if desperation strikes. Haha

Yes, it is too bad that Chuck could never meet his siblings - everybody has passed on from his mom's generation now and nobody else knew about it, so there was no way.

Stay warm and hoping you won't get that snow - yes, we're all in the same boat (well, not ALL of us Linda @LSlycord ) Kicking myself again. LOL

I have my fingerless gloves on - it's probably in my head but my hands are cold.

Hugs to all - Thinking of Felis right now. @felis

Yes, we're in the polar vortex again, but it's supposed to warm up in a couple of days. Even the locals say this winter (and last) are not normal. It's SO weird - we have had hail/snow/lightning and thunder! They're calling it Thunder Sleet. *shiver shiver*

I'm so worried about the Ukraine, too - I had sworn off watching the news before this started, but now I just have to know what's going on. It's SO incredibly sad. Those poor people.

Have fun at your local craft store. We're getting a new (independent) craft store in town soon! We can't wait1

We had two days of warmth that melted all the snow except where shoveled/plowed. Then woke to a light dusting of snow yesterday but it's gone now. Tonight we get the rain/sleet/snow storm.

@faerywings I think of you when I hear the cardinals singing as they know spring is coming. Love the images you're sharing.

I think my talk Monday evening went well. Had some good questions at least. The meeting was only open to members so I was surprised at two folks attending who I didn't know were in that group. I've heard both of them speak and they're good, but neither had ever heard one of my "regular" talks. A little unnerving. Love having Zoom, but talking to my computer screen just isn't as rewarding as seeing faces and reactions.

I hate what is happening in Ukraine! @felis What steps is Bulgaria taking? At least you're to the other side of Ukraine. Hope things are calm for you.

Need to get a move on here. Wishing everyone peace and good weather.

Thank you for your thoughts and kindly words, girls! Love you all!

I saw at the night's news and my heart is broken. We are so close to Ukraine, but so helpless. I sent message to a friend I have there and waiting answer.
All these stories: The Bed-ins for Peace of John Lennon and Yoko Ono was a romantic story not long ago. I'll never taught that we will need it again. Much older stories for the glory fights. These lends are always been feeded by the blood of glorious fighters, but all that was more like a tales from the history schoolbooks.

I think we are on safe. We are partners and will support and send help to Ukraine, but this would not affect the regular people at my country. Although many people discussing the risk some of the nuclear power plants to be 'accidentally' hit.

It's so sad how the folks get aggressive and rude to regular russian people that lives at Bulgaria from many years. It's clear that they don't have anything common with the current action of their homeland, but they are been treated very poorly today, from what I learned at the social media. I have also few russian friends.

I'm sorry! My thoughts are very messed. Usually I don't have worries about the future. Future never exist, only the present. But also I very easily falling at melancholy.
I'm feeling so hypocrite, living my small perfect live till world is on fire. Whole day I'm participate at the crocheting event, had a nice quiet day, own a house full with cats. And just across the sea at the same this moment people are lose their pets, homes, clothes, running from their roots.
This lovely day here was a day of nightmare on awake, just across the sea. People are losing their lives...

Good morning ladies. Had a moving company here this morning to look at the two households and give us a quote. Hopefully we'll hear back this afternoon and if reasonable then will lock them in for the moving dates. Jen and I popped into the Brick to get an idea of pricing and available stock and only saw a few pieces I liked and the price tag just about gave me a heart attack. We won't buy furniture here though, we'll wait until we get up to Kamloops. We will be going out car shopping on Saturday. I need a new vehicle before the move.

@faerywings Yes, the weather will be quite different. The summer is very dry, hardly any rain, and hotter than here. The winter is colder, generally about 10-20° colder and can get windy. Snowfall is generally 2-4" that stays around for most of the winter b/c it doesn't warm up enough to completely melt. So there is snow and ice for most of the winter. We need to get the slip on things for our shoes to go hiking with the dogs so we don't slip on the ice. We won't need an umbrella hardly ever. I will need to get rattlesnake anti-venom and make sure we never forget the dog tick meds b/c that is much more prevalent in the interior than here.

@taxed4ever Don't blame you for not wanting to go swimming. Too cold.

The invasion of the Ukraine breaks my heart. I have friends with family there and I can't imagine what they are going thru. I hope all governments come together to push back and protect the Ukraine. I know that the US and Canada are hitting back at Putin with financial restraints and banning.

I've got to get some lunch and then get back to packing. BFN.

I'm thinking of you, my dear Felis. This is such a frightening situation - even for us. These "powers" have so many weapons at their disposal that it's difficult to know what will happen next. I'm so afraid of a cyber-attack even in the US. I wouldn't put anything past these people. I'm so sorry that people are getting treated so badly - that seems to be "the way of the world" right now. I'm thinking of you constantly and praying that you are safe. I told my husband that knowing somebody who's so close to this makes it very real.

@felis you have been on my mind so much today. My heart aches for the Ukranian people and for theRussian people as well. This is so sad for so many people. I have a friend in Iowa. Her husband passed away 2 weeks ago at age 36. She has a 10 year old son. She is from Russia And still has family there. I’m sure that it must hurt her so much.

Decker went back to the boarding place tonight. Brian took him. Shaun said that he couldn’t be the guy that took him back to his kennel and shut the door and left. And I was in tears when Brian left with him so i knew that I couldn’t do it. Shaun works tomorrow and both days this weekend so he will see Decker then.

Work was fine. I finished my training classes and will be ready to work beginning Monday. Yay! But before that happens, I will leave our air conditioned home at 4:30 in the morning and head for Iowa where I will take my rental car and drive on snow for the first time in 3 years. By this time tomorrow, we will know if Syd is heading to UF or not.
