Happy Valentine's Day!!

Yeah, not a big deal holiday for me, but its always a good say to tell the people that you love that you love them. So if I can get away with typing it in bold pink letters, so be it. LOL

Well, it snowed here last night but it looks like we only got a couple of inches and it must have stopped early enough that the roads must be clear. Full day of school, yahoooooo!!!!

Off for blood work this am (non-fasting Plyllis, so my coffee is good :D), and hopefully a run into the eye exam place. I think I need that stronger Rx for the contacts and then, I should be seeing perfectly. My mom switched up plans for today that is even better- she and my dad are coming up here for dinner and *she* is bringing the dinner!! She asked if it was a problem or if I had special V-Day plans..... um, no! I never get to see my parents enough and to bring food for us too- win-win!

Not much else going on here. House cleaning is also on the to-do list for today.
I am so boring!

Hope everyone has a lOve filled day!

xoxoxo

morning- I am up have been since 430! Used my early morning time wisely so far- seasoning a cast iron skillet I bought last week, laundry running and scrapping! I was blindsided yesterday afternoon by either cystitis or UTI either way the hot pack and tons of water and cranberry juice seem to have done the trick- so lots of catch up for me today!!

Laurie- Nothing like a good cup of coffee after blood work :D Your dinner and dancing sound sooo romantic!

Phyllis- here's to a good marriage and a long time together (and not killing each other haha!) *cheers*
Hope your packages came early for you.
FWIW- we would love a post it note with our signature on the door if we were expecting something that needed to be signed for and they usually accepted that.

Trudy- ohhh that sounds like a really fun promotion!! Hope that it works out for you. My MIL is weird too- but that's ok, so am I.

Terry- oooh *chills* about your DS and his police car. Did you get pics yet? Will he let you?
Pancake toppings- not usually on pancakes, but def for waffles. Funny story when I was a kid. We went out for breakfast when I was maybe 8-9 years old to the diner and I wanted waffles and ice cream for b-fast and my mom told me no. Its kind of been a joke between us about how mean she was to me.
A few weeks ago, we were chatting with Caitlyn and I finally got the whole story. Apparently, it was Mother's Day and I guess I was feeling too grown up. My mom wanted to hold my hand and I wouldn't let her. She was hurt so she told me I couldn't have waffles and ice cream. hahaha!!

Nana-- I will never be able to make head or tails out of why the school boards make the decisions they do. Hope that you have plenty of vodka to get you through the days!

Nancy- love your hockey-excitement!!

Laurie- good luck with your test results-- no matter *what* the numbers are-- you are really doing an amazing job!!

Linda S-- ooooooooooh! You are so lucky! So thrilled that everything is beautiful! Think of me when you have your coffee next time, please!!

love to you all!!!

hiya. i've been up since 4:30,too, Laurie, but i fell asleep at 10, so i'm good!! i totally wasted my day yesterday, waiting for the packages. Chris, on the tags that they left on my door the day before(UPS AND FedEx,) it said that a grown-up person had to be THERE to sign. it was so stupid. i couldn't figure out WHAT i had bought that would necessitate THAT.well, one of them was the Soda Stream thingy i bought for my son, which has a non-flammable CO2 canister in it, which needs to have ME present and signing for some reason. the other one was a USB cable from Apple. i usually fill out the "just leave the delivery" thing on the Apple website and print it out, but i had NO idea that they'd require a siggy for a USB cable!! so. i just wasted the day. i could have done something productive while i waited, but i didn't. pitiful. i can't seem to get motivated to do anything, including scrapping. i think it's the "i'm SICK of winter" blahs. we had a strange snow storm yesterday for about 2 hours. it was wet snow, so the roads looked OK, but now my street is a sheet of ice, and they haven't sent out the salt truck. i gotta drive down it at around 9 a.m., so the fence at the bottom of my street may be in danger....

Laurie, hope your bloodwork comes out great. do you take anything for cholesterol, or are you doing the work with diet?

Linda, i can't WAIT to see some photos. make sure to take some of the mountain view!

Terry, i guess a person might as well put sprinkles and stuff on pancakes. i always thought of pancakes as DESSERT, even with only maple syrup on them.

Happy Valentine's Day! not a big deal around here, either. we just do cards. roses are so BAD anymore (they don't smell like roses, then die before they even open) that they're never worth the money...even if my husband ever DID by me flowers. he once told me he didn't "believe" in buying flowers, because it seemed like a waste of money. to which i replied:  "who the heck cares what YOU believe about flowers?? what matters is what I BELIEVE about flowers!!"

men. honestly.

Phylis- so far diet, but if it has not changed for the better, she (my doctor) will likely suggest meds- she has held off because I have decent good cholesterol- but I do have a family history of heart issues - 4 of my 7 brothers so far, and cancer - mother and sister as well as 3 brothers and my father- way back when a doctor with little bedside manner said to me " I see cancer runs in your family" Yeah I never forgot that- like I didn't know and like that was going to make me feel comforted!!

Oh and my brother with lymphoma found out this week he is officially in remission! His bald head and other symptoms were not for naught!

Laurie, that's a list of worries, for sure. and you have SEVEN brothers??? whoa!! glad you brother with lymphoma has had GOOD news.

a word about cholesterol issues: Lipitor. magical, magical stuff, if you can tolerate it. i tried doing it "the right way" about 8 years ago. i worked with a dietician, lost 30 pounds. my GP was excited to do some blood work to see the GREAT IMPROVEMENT in my numbers. HA!! my cholesterol went UP almost 50 points, and my triglycerides SKYROCKETED. he consulted endocrinologists, heart doctors. no one could figure out HOW that happened. so, i told him that since doing the right thing apparently wasn't going to work and was HURTING, JUST GIVE ME THE PILL!!! within a month the numbers were those of a 20-year-old. amazing.

I was hoping to wake up real early and go to the gym. Well--got up later than I wanted, did put the gym clothes on---but am on the internet instead of at the gym! Really--as soon as I hit send, I'm going to the gym.

Chris--such a lucky girl! Parents coming to visit and bringing dinner to top it off! How wonderful.

Phyllis-I hate it when I order something like ink cartridges and then they require a signature. Give me a break! Hope you get out of your funk soon. It probably is the weather--just listening to the temps, snow, rain, ice----I wouldn't want to go out!

I remember a doctor telling me---if you live long enough, you will be on Lipitor. Yep, good stuff. Keeps things in check!

Laurie--good news for your brother. I have a nephew that had lymphoma that has been in remission for almost 10 years. He was in high school when diagnosed.

Nana--we start school the week before Labor Day and get out the last week of May. Until a couple of years ago, school started the middle of August.

Nancy--love getting the game highlights from you! We don't follow any pro sports team around here but do manage to go to our fair share of high school and college games.

Wishing all of you a wonderful day.

Good morning! yesterday was my birthday and it was wonderful. My son gave me a Devils scarf so cute! Had dinner from my favorite restaurant! Grown up Mac&Cheese. Had a good walk as the temperature is really nice. Speaking of weather, Chris I was waiting for that dump truck this morning as we got no snow at all! No special Valentine's Day for me. My Hubby is already being really good to me as we got my new camera and he is going to hockey with me Friday and on our road trip to Long Island on Saturday.

Phylis interesting how our birthdays are so close. I would never have thought that you would have to sign for a USB cable. The CO2 container I more understand.

Chris enjoy the dinner from your parents how sweet is that.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning "O" ladies ... Happy Valentines Day!! MG and I do not celebrate, we tell each other how much we love each other all the time, so this is not a special day for us. Sappy I know!! Raining here this morning :rain: but it not snowing so thats ok!! I am hoping to enjoy each minute of my day off, by doing only what I want to do today!! MIL and FIL are stopping in to pick up some wine that MG has been making and other than that I have the day to myself. Work went well yesterday and I learned a few new things about ordering for the store. I have a meeting with a sales rep on Friday at 11am so it should be interesting, hope she is patient with me ... newbie here! Went for a nice long walk after work yesterday, but its looking like I might have to hit the treadmill today if the weather stays the same as it is this morning. So not much excitement for me today I am so boring!! :bored:

Chris - Lucky you!! You get to see your parents and they are bringing food too!! :high5:
Hope your Valentines day with your mom and dad is delicious and fun!

Laurie - Keeping my fingers crossed that your levels have dropped and you don't need to the pill thing!! Some doctors are so rude!!! They really should have to take extra courses on how to have a bedside manner!! Wow Laurie...7 brothers!! I have three and three sisters I thought that was enough, are you the only girl in the family? Glad to hear that your brother has had good news, what a relief!!

Phlyis - That sucks that you waited around all day for the deliveries!! Who knows why they need signatures ? Who knows why so many things are the way that they are?? I always think there is some guy in an office somewhere who thinks up annoying, totally useless things for people to have to do!! LOL. Hope your winter blues leave you soon and that you find your mojo again!!

Eva - Every party needs a pooper, that's why we invited you, Party Pooper!! LOL hope you have a creative day!!!

Terry - GET TO THE GYM!! LOL just kidding, hope you have a good workout, don't over do it!

Well better get some breakfast and another cuppa :tea:

Good morning. I am the on,y one awake so using my iPad to post in the dark. Anxious for Brian to wake up so I can get some Kona coffee. I will think of you while drinking it Chris.

Phylis, the winter just takes a lot out of a person. Watch out for that fence. :)

Trudy, so exciting about your job news.

Nancy, sounds like your hubby is being especially nice to you.

Laurie, good news about your brother. Hope those numbers are good.

Terry, I love basketball so I would be right there with you at those games. Trying to find some basketball camps for the kids this summer.

We went to the beach in front of the hotel yesterday afternoon and there was a sea turtle swimming with the kids for about 20 minutes. It was between 10 and 20 feet away most of that time.

Ok...think I might make a little noise and see if Brian wakes up. ;-)

Well, regarding my family size my mother hand 8 boys and 4 girls. One of the boys was a twin who did not live to be one year old. In order Girl, Girl, Boy, Girl & Boy, Boy, Boy, Boy, Boy, Boy, Me & Boy. Yes, baby girl surrounded by boys any wonder I was a tom boy who only in her much later years embraced her feminine side??

Happy Valentine's day! I'm with Eva. I hate all the commercialism of today. But I also hate all things hallmark and won't buy greeting cards and stuff. We do celebrate but we do so as a family and do something together instead. Sometimes making red, pink or heart shaped food or whatever. It's fun.

We are in WA now after a very long trip that included sleeping on the floor of the airport. Good times. But now we are here and it's always great to be with my family. Today will consist of dentist appts (yes, we travel cross country to see the kids dentist), hopefully touring the coffee roaster where we buy our coffee from and visiting our ex-neighbor. For those of you remember it's the one with the bipolar daughter who she got custody of her kids. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and she just started treatment so she's the only friend we're visiting during this short trip. It'll be great to see her and the kids.

Well, I've got to get ready. Have a great day.

Hi ladies....I LOVE MY O FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had to say that!!

Took Mike to the Dr today....he is getting some new "crazy" medicine like I did...so maybe he will calm down a bit too...he stays in such a fuss all the time!!! But the Doc just confirmed to him the same thing I keep telling him...he is too young to not be working!!!

Went to the court house afterwards...Mike did his concealed weapons test online and we had to put the application in at the courthouse....he doesn't even own a handgun...not sure why he needs the card....oh well....he says he wants to get one for protection in the woods....he did have a huge issue with coyotes this past year...he said several times he wished he had a hand gun to carry....especially during bow season.

Afterwards we went to the mall....yes, I actually did some shopping..but only because NTB is out there and I need a tire rotation and oil change....so we walked across to the mall and I found some AWESOME AWESOME sales on some cute spring outfits for my bug!! These places put out their leftovers stuff from last year with winter stuff they have left and have these 80% off deals...One place I got two skirts, one pair of shorts and two shirts for $16 and that included the tax!! WOOHOOO!!!

ANYWAY........................today is Valentines...yes, but I tell you girls every year that it's not a holiday to me...it was the day my child was born.....yep...she is 28yo this year....unfortunately she is not where a 28yo should be in her life, and probably never will be, but I love her and I called to wish her a very happy birthday!! I am going to meet her this evening to eat dinner with the kids.

Okay...need to go fix lunch....you girls have an awesome day!!!

Nana in California they're able to carry concealed if they're going hunting or fishing. Jeff prints out the law every time and carries it with him if he gets stopped about it. He always carries a handgun, even with a rifle -- much easier to grab when attacked, especially by a hungry mountain lion! I wouldn't be surprised if your state has the same statute, especially since California is usually stricter about hand guns.
Guys just like to have those kinds of freedoms though ;)

OMG Clara!!! Praying for your neighbor! She keeps getting dealt tough cards :(

Oy I think that's as far as I'm going to get right now for personals -- my head is swimming, woke up with a cold or sinus infection or the plague -- something terrible! And we just got over a cold!

MEG!!!! I didn't realize by the name it was you!!! You are playing tricks on us!! :bounce:

No....Virginia doesn't allow it......The law says that the only exception to carry a handgun while hunting without a permit is if a person hunting under inclement weather conditions necessitating temporary protection of his firearm from those conditions. :noidea: Not sure what conditions that would be....but if further reads that any person lawfully hunting with a concealed handgun shall not be deemed hunting with a handgun if he holds a permit to carry that handgun.

Virginia's lame!! Well, it sounds like it might be an easier process to get the permit there though -- I'm getting mine because we've had several close calls with people Jeff's arrested -- we have to take a class here, involving hours put in at the range, along with an application process and stuff... it'll probably be $250 just to try to get the permit. You have to already have the hand gun, and it has to be registered to you or your spouse.

Yeah...Virginia is lame!!! You can take the test on line ($25) or take a class (don't know what that costs).....then you fill out your application and you go give your sworn statement and they do a background check on you ($50) and it will be about 45 days before he gets the permit. But you do NOT have to own the gun first. WOW!! Isn't that sort of the "putting the cart before the horse"?

Oh and no tricks being played Nana :p I re-introduced myself and everything hehe!!!

Okay...if I was paying attention I would have see that thread..huh?? Well welcome back sweetie
