It is a special day here and I am so happy and joyful! :bliss: We are getting our tree up today. Normally we do this on weekends, but Scott is working both nights, and everyone is home early this afternoon so we have a good chunk of time today. We are getting the tree from Scott's garden center. He is still on their payroll and is still considered and employee so he will get his discount which will help a lot. Then Scott will do the lights with lots of cursing and we will decorate the tree with lots of music, hahaha!!! Dinner is usually pizza but to save $ I am making homemade calzones and mozzarella sticks. Then....... *drum roll...... we will watch A Christmas Story and laugh our butts off.

I am so happy that we still do these things together. I love my family.

Yesterday, I was able to my mom place an order at Amazon so she got a couple of things there. We went to TJ MAXX and I was able to get a gift for the IL's. It is a red and green plaid soup tureen but I will make more shortbreads and put them in there. It will match their kitchen even if it isn't the same tartan as the Campbell Clan. That was a huge relief since they are so hard to shop for. They also had the Invincibles dog toys that my dogs love. DO you remember me talking about them in the beginning of this year? Jaida's frog still has one squeaker section left. I bought one, and my mom bought one so the pups will be very happy.
And how the *heck* do dogs know what is inside plastic bags?? I walked in the door and J ran around me trying to get the bag. I hid it in my dresser, but until I did that she would not leave me alone.
I was proud of myself, that I didn't cave and give it to her too.

Our new diner was Ah-MA-Zing!! For realz.
I got French Toast that was coated in crushed cereal, almonds, and walnuts. Best French Toast. My mom got a gyro and fries - also totally delish. The funniest part of the experience is that Cait and Brendan were there at the same time. She texted me while I was shopping and said that they were going there for lunch instead, but that it was ok if we were there too. I had told her prior that I didn't want to crash their date.
We got there a little bit after them but my mom was searching for them to the point that the waitress asked if we wanted to sit with the, I "scolded" my mom and said no, the kids are on a date.

The waitress went over on the other side of the diner with the message that Grandma says hi. But we all laughed. Then I get a text from Cait asking if we wanted an onion ring. I thought they had some leftover and she was using that as an excuse to come see us. She walks over with the entire plate of onion rings which made the owner laugh and say that she was hired. When we paid, the man at the register asked if that was my mom, and then if that was my DD. He was so happy to have three generations in the place. Then they all said how sweet Cait was. That made me happy.

But, everywhere we go, we cause a commotion. part of who we are

All of that puts me in a gooooooOd mood! Isn't that so nice for a change?

I hope that you feel the happy vibes I am sending.
xoxo!

Nancy- I am not retired but not working really either and I don't have to worry about time too much. But I still do. heh. I think i it is that I know that by 2-3 pm I turn into a pumpkin so I try to get too much done while I am still semi-steady on my feet. I would never be able to do all that you did yesterday, but it sounds like you had a fun day even if it was a busy one.
Yikes! That is a lot of blood and fighting in one game. Hope that the players are all ok. Good for the Devils to win. Sounds like they are having a better season so far than last year.
Good for Luther working and improving on Come. Cait and I were talking about how we need to work with Jaida but in an enclosed space, not when Gary would have her off leash in the yard and she would take off. We will make time in the Spring to get to the dog park.
We have been getting small amounts of snow all week up here. A dusting again today. My mom was surprised to see how much snow we had in the morning yesterday since they didn't get any.

Rae- ugh! That isn't good about Darrell's ankle, what did the Dr say? hope that he doesn't get in your way if he stays home the rest of the week. Not that guys every do *that.* ;)
That is great news about getting Ava. *fingers crossed that he pays you on time*
I know! It would be so fun to get all of us together. Trudy could borrow Ravyn since she is so mellow. It would be one big happy scrap puppy coffee-then-wine play date.
If Canada would take me, I would love to move to Vancouver. At least for the next 4 years. We are in for one heck of a rocky ride here no matter what happens.

Hope that everyone is having a great day- Trudy don't forget your promise of a drink on the beach for me!

good morning - yesterday was much calmer - got two scrap pages done so that was good. But I was terrible and could not do Rae's speed scrap. It looked like fun! This morning was chilly but no wind so preLuther was tired yesterday and even today he is just resting. I have no plans so that is good. My Devils play in Montreal tonight and then tomorrow they are home to the St. Louis Blues. Two hard games to win.

Chris your day sounds like it could be a Christmas story movie! More family togetherness should be celebrated! Your diner sounds like a real keeper. Diners are so fun! The menus are huge and you can get breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast.

Rae so sorry about the ankle. I have had two really bad sprained ankles and they really hurt. I still had to go to work and it was not fun. Hope he is not too grumpy. And so sorry that the snow caused this. I would take some actually. I have always found that it is warmest when snowing and then after it quits the arctic blast comes in. Good news about Ava.

Have a great day all!

Good morning ladies. Temps are dropping here. Yesterday at 8:00 at this time it was 30 and this morning it is 20. Everything is frozen. Luckily, Darrell remembered to turn off the water to the outside taps yesterday, because of freezing water pipes. It does look pretty to look out in the early morning and see the snow glistening with ice on it. Later today the snow starts and we'll get an inch or two and then Fri and Sat we'll get another 2-6" per day, tapering off to a few inches a day again for a bit. We never get snow like this in Vancouver. My daughter is already getting excited, she loves the snow. She called yesterday and asked if I'd heard LOL.

My boss has sickness brain fog now. I think he's had the virus that is going around (the one I had for 5 wks) and he's not been sending all the files to me. So yesterday I figured out what was missing and he sent me tons last night. Guess I'll be swamped today LOL. It's all good though, b/c it's more money, so it helps for January when I'm not working.

I ordered some stuff off amazon for Taz, to hopefully help with his bum problem. I read lots of endorsements for it (a powder supplement) so will give it a try. A vet clinic sells it but Its too far for me to want to drive so ordered off amazon instead. Hope it helps him.

I'm going to get a page done for the advent event today. It's fun to see all the participation and excitement for it. Darrell is home for the rest of the week with his ankle sprain. He is resting it lots and not doing much. He said it felt a bit better this morning but its still black/blue and swollen. I'm trying to be a good nurse, getting him things, changing his ice pack, but I keep forgetting b/c I've been busy working.

Chris - sounds like yesterday was a great day and today too with it being tree day. I am so glad we got our tree up last wkend, I love looking at it in the evening with the lights on. Glad you enjoyed the new restaurant and had a good time with your mom and so funny that Cait was there too at the same time.

Nancy - Missed you at the speed scrap, it was fun. I loved seeing all the pages afterwards and how everyone interprets the instructions. How nice that you got a few pages done. I never get tired of scrapping. If I had time I would do it every day.

BTW....Chris - we love Christmas Story too, it's one of our faves.

I'm going to go start a page for the advent miscellaneous challenge and work on it in between breaks from my desk job today. I have tons of work to do but want to pace myself and not over-work my hands. I'm sure my boss understands how much he loaded me up and hopefully will be patient on getting the finished files back. I also want to take a break later this afternoon and pop over to walmart to get some bird suet. They are eating it up like crazy, the flickers especially, so just in case the weather is too bad to drive for a few days, I'll stock up and be prepared. Also get a few groceries to tide us over. With our weather, we might get less snow than predicted or tons more, it's never a sure thing here on the west coast.

So, off I go, have a great day, everyone.

It's kind of a crazy day here. Below freezing and snow starting, an unknown amount coming now or in the next few days. We've been living in a fantasy warm world up to now. Rudely (coldly) awakened to realize furnace off. Man still here working on it. Startled to realize we've had it 21 years now. I'm sitting in the kitchen with a space heater but still cold.

Chris, what a delight to read about your day yesterday and plans for today. Can it be that you're really having fun? Since you got your mother's order in to Amazon, can I assume that wasn't quite as hard as expected? And Cait always comes up with great ideas! Onion ring indeed! Hope it is a joyful tree evening.

Nancy, hope the next two Devils games go to them. Hope today remains calm and the cold doesn't get you or Luther down.

Rae, thanks for running the speed scrap. I was sorry to miss the actual chat part but because of the two hour limit, I got one done and had a great time. Your page was lovely and today's 52 Inspirations one is itself an inspiration. Wow, you keep getting work in spurts it seems. Sounds hard to deal with it that way. But we know you will keep at it and get an amazing amount done. Good vibes to that ankle and your having to deal with being nurse.

Trudy, we're all wishing we were there!!

Good wishes for everyone (and keeping warm.) :smow:

Hay, hay!! Sounds like everyone is doing great (well except for the sprained ankle! Hope he is healing soon. ) Those can be nasty!

Chris, I could feel your excitement about your tree, family time, the movie and everything else that goes with it. I have wonderful memories!!! Being alone isn't as bad as I dreaded when I lost the love of my life 14 years ago. I have learned to enjoy the peace and quiet. Since I don't really celebrate Christmas anymore, I decorate with snowmen. LOVE my snowmen!!! Boy, that French Toast sounds delicious!!! Why do we stick with just dipping the bread in eggs when there is so much more we could do!

So you think we are in for a rocky ride for the next four years? Well, here's my look on it. Personally, the guy sucks!! BUT----think about it. Is he egotistical or not?? Ahhhh, YEAH!!! He has to be the BEST in everything he does. Do you think he really wants to fail as President??? He will do his damndest to make this country great. WHY?? Because it will make HIM look great!! If he had his way, his face would be on Mt. Rushmore!!! He wants to walk away from his job in 4 or 8 years with everyone ooohhhing and aaaahhhing all over him!!!! That's why I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. We shall see!!!

Nancyr: missed you at the Speed Scrap Rae did an awesome job. It was so much fun, despite my computer giving me a headache!! Everyone did such awesome layouts.

Rae: temps are dropping here too. Just got a dusting of snow but it has stopped already. The BIG one is coming Monday with that big storm that is heading across the states. We will drop from the 40s of this week into the teens during the day and single digit at night. Now THAT'S Michigan weather in the winter!!!! Not sure if I am ready. I have been so spoiled by the weather we have been having, but at least it has shortened our Winter considerably. LOVED the challenge today! Never really investigated what the 52 Inspirations were; now I have a whole new area to shop in!!!!

Jean: No furnace? And cold weather coming? OUCH!! Hope it is up and running soon. I rent an apartment in a home that was made into 2 apartments and our furnace died last April. So Mr. Landlord figures, well summer is coming, you don't need it now and we never got our new furnace until October!!! And if you know NE Michigan you can still get cold nights, even in July and August.

Well, off to the store. Have to find something to make for dessert for Shabbat on Saturday. I'm thinking cheesecake. We are meeting at my daughter's and our meal will be soup, sandwiches and desserts. YUM!!!! She is making two kinds of chili, and with the weather reports, it will be perfect!!!

Y'all have a great evening!!!!!
