Hey there, O-Fam, how are you today?
I am doing pretty good, I have slept decently for the past 3 nights. What a difference that makes. I was getting anxious going to bed from that feeling that I *knew* wasn't going to sleep which only compounds the problem. Hopefully, I am on the right track and can stay on it.
After I unpacked the groceries, I still couldn't figure out what I should do. I ended up deep cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen. It was a smart move, my head feels better with a clean area. There was too much crap shoved everywhere (still is but less) and the coffee spills on the floor were making me bonkers. Gary is infamous for spilling coffee. I go into the passive-aggressive mode of refusing to clean up his mess, thinking that at some point he will notice and do it himself. I know. A ridiculous assumption on my part. ;)
After I did that, I scrapped a new siggie and then hung up the stockings on the stairs. It is always a bit bittersweet when I take the stockings out of the box. It's usually a reflection on the pets that we lost of the year. I was thinking of Ravyn and Imogene. <3

Caitlyn's rats are still with us and it is incredible that Liv and DIlly are still alive. They are 3 years and 2 1/2 months. Evie turned 2 last week. Since their life span is usually only around 2, now even Evie is a "Senior" rat. Her lipomas are growing so quickly and it seems to be affecting her breathing. Cait is keeping a very close eye on her and on Liv's tumor. They aren't having extreme quality of life issues yet but the last thing she wants is for them to suffer.
She was hoping to wait until the big girls were gone </3 before she got new babies but there is a rat rescue that she is in contact with and the org will be getting many new litters in the next few days. She is weighing the pros and cons of getting new babies while she is still caring for her geriatric babies.

I am cleaning for my friend and this afternoon I might end up making a mess in the kitchen. I am thinking that I make some wax tarts and votives. That means my house will smell yummy again :D

HAGD!!

@tanteva I guess if you want it to snow, then I will think lots of snow vibes for you. As long as they don't get mixed up and end up here. That would be bad. For me.
I understand the Brain out of Order-- it took me two hours to make that simple siggie.
Were you able to whip up something else for dinner without onions? That would be like me not buying garlic. It should not happen.

@nancyr sorry that the Devils didn't have a good game, but at least the coach recognized that the lines with not right and fixed them quickly. Hopefully, they will play better for the next game.
Is DH stressing over the end of the semester, to get grades in? One of Cialtyn's professors was complaining about that and she vented to me that maybe he shouldn't assign so many long and complicated papers LOL She has a huge one due on Friday and I know she is not having fun with it.

@bcgal00 How are the yard and garage, drying out a bit? It cracks me up that you let the dogs play in the mud, they must love it. I cannot imagine how strange the stores must look, empty shelves this time of year must be making everyone a bit tense.
How is the laptop set up working?

@Cherylndesigns It makes sense to me to get as much yard work done as you can while the weather is decent. Good luck getting the booster today (don't put it off too long)
Wow, that is great that you were able to track down the PJ purchase with the app. Seriously a great idea to use the app as soon as you are out of the store. Between the instore/online purchases for myself, then ordering things for my mom, -and doing gift baskets for my neighbor- I can't remember what and when and where I have things LOL
Sorry that the tree skirt idea wouldn't work, I do everything in my power to never touch an iron

@LSlycord hahaha! IKWYM about the year-- see above about my LO I did. LOL!!!
The prelit trees were out of our budget bet we have so many strands of lights we figured it was fine anyway. I bet it is really nice only have to plug it in though. Are you decorating this weekend?
Thank you for the compliment on the gnomes. SO happy that you are back again!

@felis I know how much you like the snow, bet it was nice watching it fall.
I think the idea of reading Christmas books will be a nice way to celebrate respectfully. Rae reads Christmas books, maybe she will have some to share. Forty days of mourning ritual is a long time.
Small warning that these are *only* my opinions-- take the suggestion for what it is worth--
... If I am understanding correctly, Death knows what is in your heart and what your intentions are. To me, that means if you are doing something reverently in honor of that person, Death will know. If you are reading or knitting in a meditative fashion and honoring the person in your thoughts you do so, Death should know that as well?
I am not trying to stir up trouble, just trying to see if there are things you can do that are festive but will still accommodate your traditions.

@BrightEyes yay, sounds like you had a successful day, especially at the grocery store! Hope you did just as well at the library
Thanks for liking the pictures too

better get going!! xoxo

Morning ladies, we are up and running again with the internet and happy to be back so I can get caught up here! We ended up having to get a few things replaced and it looked like the modem was just fine, just some wiring issues and needed a new connector plugin thingy LOL. I have no idea what the right name for it is. Anyway all is working again. Hooray! Yesterday I was totally absent from here and from home as our hike was a long one and I was gone for most of the day. A beautiful hike to trestle 66 all along the river and the rain held off for the entire hike! Gorgeous old growth forest. Here is one photo I took along the way.
unnamed-2.jpg we stopped for lunch here along the river.

Today I really need to get the coupons out for the Challenge Winners and do a new siggie for the Christmas Season. Also have to get our Son's birthday card out in the mail. Get a few Christmas Cards made and start on a gift for our gift Exchange that we will do with the In-Law's and Sister-In-Law Linda and her new man. I still need to find something for Isaac. I did however manage to get the Calendar completed and sent Heather's out to be printed, so that they can pick that up at their Staples Store in Ontario. Save's me some $'s mailing it to them. I ended up having to return the Chromebook we bought :( seems the software that I needed to download so that I could use my Silhouette Machine, cannot be done on a Chromebook. So I picked out another laptop with windows. I hate windows, but sure could not afford a macbook, so I will have to settle for the alternative. Oh well at least I won't have to drag my Silhouette Machine out to where my iMac is and hook it up.

@faerywings - I guess it goes to show you what a great caregiver Caitlyn is to her Rat family!! She really must take such good care of them for them to live this long! My Gary is the same way, you should see the cupboards when he is done preparing his wine kits! Red splashes everywhere!! Really?? You can't see this?? So I get the job of cleaning that all up LOL. Oh well I guess I should not complain, after all I get to enjoy all that delicious wine too! Making the wax tarts and votives sounds like a great idea!! Your house will smell heavenly! I love burning votives, I need to get a bunch for the Christmas Season! Your tree looks amazing! Great job on decorating!! I love it! I haven't even started thinking about decorating yet, perhaps this weekend.

Ok I will sign off here and get coupons done, then I hope to catch up with everyone later on in the day. Have a great Thursday everyone!

Good morning. Slipping in just before noon so that counts as morning, right?

I had another doctor's appointment at 8:00 this morning. This time with the endocrinologist. Everything looked very good...just as it did on Monday with the internist. How I wish these folks could get it together. But at least I didn't need to repeat any bloodwork. My blood pressure was excellent...which is the result of not worrying about rushing to work. Honestly, I could be done today I think...but I promised to stick around through tomorrow, so stick around I will.

Oh my goodness...getting everything set up again for scrapping is proving to be quite the chore. I accomplished a lot last night so hopefully, I can get a good avatar and siggie for the holiday season soon. @faerywings and @tanteva I think I share the Brain Out of Order (BOO) syndrome. Good grief. It really can't be that difficult...yet it was. LOL I'm hoping that improves.

@bcgal00 you are such a good dog mama to let them play in the mud. I would have been yelling at my two like crazy to stay out of the mud.

@felis I'm sure you are right...everyone will be putting on new avatars to shine for the December Days. So no harm if I didn't get one done. Saved myself some effort.

@taxed4ever that photo...wow what a view. That would refresh my soul although the hike might have me exhausted. Glad your internet is back up and running. There are just way to many plugs and connectors, etc to keep things running!

Good morning ladies. We made it thru the rain. We can turn the pump off today and we should be ok for now. Looks like a mix of sun, clouds, rain and snow over the next few weeks so hopefully that means no big floods coming again. December is busy every wkend now, two family outings with Bailey, tree decorating, baking, shopping with Bailey. So much to do but fun. What might disrupt our plans is B getting admitted for a wk or two into the neuro unit/brain trauma at UBC (again, she was in there 2 yrs ago) for observation and hopefully medication changes/additions and maybe some ideas on how to deal with her dream/fugue states and constant looping of irritational thoughts. Because they only have 10 beds and service all of the province (the only unit of its kind) that the fact that the head of the unit is pushing to get her in right away this month is really good although he did warn that they have a 3-4 month waiting list so he couldn't promise. So, it will suck to drive 1-1.5 hours to get out there (they are going to lift the COVID rules to allow us in) and visit with her a few times and attend meetings, but it is all worth it if they can provide additional help. We may be spending Xmas in the hospital again this year. Best case scenario, she gets in over the next wk or so and may be out at Xmas. We'll see.

So yesterday was filled with dog play (in the pool and mud), going over info with Jen on Bailey's case and finishing up my desk work. No CT work so hopefully today.

@faerywings I laughed about Gary spilling and not cleaning up, hoping he will. I go thru the same thing. D always says he never saw it LOL. He spills coffee on the counter, table and floor all the time.

Remi is whining at me so she probably needs to go out and I need to get another coffee before starting my day. I'm out of here...

Good morning, lovely O's. I slept for 8 hours straight last night! Didn't wake up one time. Boy, does 8 straight hours of sleep make a difference! Night before last, I had a bad night - one of those up and down nights. That's pretty rare for me though, so once in awhile, I can deal with it. It was my own fault because I forgot I had to do a big blog post and it had to be published the next morning. I normally don't wait until the last minute to do it and I got pretty stressed out putting it together. I won't do that again! My brain was so wired when I finally got in bed and I couldn't turn it off.

Trudy @taxed4ever what a lovely picture from your hike! I'm so glad that you got your internet back up - doesn't sound like it was anything major.

Chris @faerywings I know what you mean about getting the stockings out. Christmas can bring back sad memories as well as good ones. I don't do stockings anymore, but I just love seeing them in pictures and on layouts. I got a lot done outside and it's supposed to get up to 76 degrees today so I'll definitely be outside again! I got the wreath for our front door yesterday and I'm not crazy about it. I need to add some stuff to it. I tried adding my grass tufts yesterday and they shed so badly and got all over the place, so that didn't work out. I ordered a bunch of artificial babies breath for my tree and it's really pretty, but not nearly enough. I ordered some more yesterday and hopefully, I'll have enough for my wreath. I'm ordering at least 2 plants to be delivered in March/April to plant outside. I used to always grow it and always had a good supply. I've already got the supplier lined up.

Linda @LSlycord your doctor's visits sound positive. Hope the good reports keep up.

I'm going to get off here and post my Vicki Robinson LO and work on some other stuff before I go outside. It hasn't warmed up as much as I'd like yet, so I'm shooting for about 1 o'clock.

Have a good Thursday!

Thx Cheryl. We hope so too but the main thing is her care, her well being, so we have learned that our plans sometimes change around what is needed for her. We've done Xmas dinner in the hospital before and we'll do it again this year if need be.

I completely understand. Our youngest was in and out of the hospital for several years as a teenager. We spent many days in there, but fortunately, never had to spend a Christmas. She SHOULD have been in there, but we lived close by, so they would let us take her home. Sending you hugs, as I know what it's like. The longest stint I had without going home was 45 days!

Hello girls!
It was long working day, and as one of you was told yesterday, working from home is still very exhausting. In some days even more than from a office, as I have to handle also the side distractions. At the current situation my concentration isn't in shape, and my thoughts are very chaotic o_O. Tomorrow is the winter gardening fest on Instagram, and I'm not prepared anything. At the summer one I remembered at the last moment so I took only 1 photo, with not so good quality. Then in autumn I was pretty good in multiple categories. So I was very excited about this, but now nothing comes to my mind. Hopefully my brain will be clear tomorrow and will come with some useful idea!

Chris, it's same for me, cleaning always helps me to feel more satisfied and to focus. It would be so exciting Caitlyn to have new rats! :D
Thank you for your attention and interest to different cultures and traditions, it means lot for me! I double checked to be sure that I'm using the right terms. What you talking about is grief and you are right about it. But the mourning just include bunch of rituals that ancestors are figure out long ago for protection and respect, and people must have to follow them to avoid curse and new tragedies. There isn't sneaky way to mislead the supernatural powers.

Trudy, this place is wonderful! OH, they fixed your modem pretty fast, you are lucky! Isn't nintendo switch game what the boys want? Or Isaac is not up to that? Graphic novel/comics book?!

Linda, I'm miss this part, excuse me! Is that prophylactic visit or there is something in your health that you are worried about?

Rae, you are so right it's not the place, but the company that matters! I hope to have Christmas miracle after this new treatment!

Cheryl, oh, how bad that the wreath is not good enough! Hope that you was able to fix it at some creative way! Show us pics :)!

good day - well it is for me but my DH is having a horrible day. Started with him spilling his coffee on the dining room carpet, the he tripped and the case of Dr. Pepper hit the counter and on can opened and sprayed DP all over the floor, then his NJ transit train was 30 min late and his subway was rerouted. I feel bad but think part of it is the stress of the end of classes. One of his employees has also not done his job and that has caused problems. I had a good walk with my girlfriend. I don't know if I mentioned but have you seen the iPhone commercial with the snowman. I think it is pretty funny. Anyway it was filmed a couple of blocks from me. And the snow is fake! Got my first page for my Dec. project done. Work on my other tonight. Continuing to read. And my Devils are down 2-0 already!

@faerywings Chris I cant believe how well the rats are doing. That is because she takes such good care of her ladies. I don't think that cleaning is where my head would go if I was bored or had too much energy.

@taxed4ever Trudy wow that photo is gorgeous! Glad there was no rain. We had rain but fortunately it was all overnight. That is sweet having your gift exchange. I am struggling with what to get for all the new kids with our new family. Glad the internet is back and working.

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl glad to know that you don't live in a tornado zone! But still good to have your shelter. Congrats on getting so much sleep. I am finding that a late shower using a lavender scent body wash makes for a lovely sleep. I had heard that lavender helps and I am finding it does. But I also find if I sleep too long my body does not like it - my muscles need to move (old lady LOL)

@bcgal00 Rae I think that sounds good for B. Hope it happens soon for her and you all and not all your Christmas plans are messed up.

Waving to all
Have a great day!
@felis felis yes for sure working at home is not easy. My DH said our dog was a huge distraction. Have fun with the instagram winter gardening!

Whoo-whoo-whoo!!! The Party is starting... The 12 Days of Christmas threads have opened and the Avatar Challenge is up! Got my new Avi posted and I am feeling so festive. Been checking off and on all afternoon waiting for the thread to open up. Feel like that lady who cried "Open, Open, Open" in the old Black Friday commercial. :D Hey, I might not decorate the house for Christmas but I am decorating here at the O!!! If you haven't checked it out... go to the OS blog and read all about what is coming for the Event. Going to be a busy couple of weeks.
