Hey there, O-zies! How are you all today? I hope that you are relaxed and well-rested- so you can share some of that with me. LOL!!!
Rat sitting for the babies has been, shall we say a bit difficult? Panic inducing? Full-on freakout?

Before I get started, yes they are fine. (I am practicing for when I have to tell this to Caitlyn)
When I went to bed on Tuesday, I checked on them and the babies were in the medical cage, the big girls in the regular one. Cait had left the ceiling fan running and her door open so it wouldn't get too stuffy in there so that is the way I left it. I decided to check on them before I went food shopping and THANK GOD I DID!!!!!!! Evie escaped. She (or Imogene although she was sleeping in the hammock) popped open the cage door and was gone. All I could think was holy **** the door was open, she could be anywhere in the house. I closed the bedroom door and looked for her in her regular hiding spots in the room and whew, she was hiding between the bed and heating vent. Evie does *not* like to be handled, is super fast and squirmy so every attempt that Gary and I made to grab her was fruitless.
One good thing about the babies is they know how to put themselves back into the big cage, so I opened the top doors and put some treats up there and she scrambled inside. Took me a few tries, but I was able to grab her and pop her back into the small cage, and used a ring/clip to keep the door closed. In the afternoon, I went back upstairs to play with them a bit and they had tried to open the door but the ring held it almost all the way closed. So far, so good.:)

But wait! There's more!

W is whining at me at 2.30 am and I was hoping that she would jump back on the bed and go to sleep if I ignored her. As I am laying there, I hear a small crash/thud that sounded like it was from upstairs. I get out of bed, run upstairs and the cage is open and both babies are gone. They had pushed against the door so hard that they popped the ring open. I found it halfway across the floor. These are the same rings that Cait uses to hold the hammocks to the cage bars so they can hold the weight of several rats securely. Both babies were under the big cage so I decided that I was going to let them back into the big cage for good. I was going to put them in there at some point today since they are 1-week post-op but I wasn't planning on doing it in the middle of the night. They are so darn naughty. [tsk tsk smilie]. I put in some cheerios and they scrambled up the side of the cage and went right inside. Cordelia and Liv seemed very happy to see them and all four were running around to get the cheerios.

I am still cleaning out the cabinets b/c those pantry pests are still popping up. So disgusting. My mental downtime (as if!!) was trying to get ACDSee working again and it is running -- for now. Talk to me in a few days and see where I am at.
I am cleaning for my friend today and will be trying to get my hands on the babies to make sure they didn't bother their incisions with their nighttime escapes. ha-- I meant to type "escapades" but escapes works just as well.;)

Never dull here. SMH. Even when it is boring, there is *always* something weird going on. It might be a good day to wear steel-toed boots when I clean since I am going to be at my weapon-collecting friend's. LOL

Have fun!! xoxo

@tanteva enjoy your time off! Enjoy your snacks and relaxing :)
We watched another episode of the Unforgotten, we like it. We can get three seasons here too, maybe the fourth will be available when we are ready for it.

@Kythe What is Janet King about?

@felis I haven't had a chance to even touch any crocheting *crying* All of my spare time has been fighting with the computer. I am sorry that I missed you there!

@nancyr Luther is enjoying the dog days of summer as he sees fit. Relaxing! LOL!!
How nice to be out to dinner with the girls. Is there still a lot of outdoor dining available? I am wondering what it will be like down the shore next month.
I don't want to be an empty nester, I am sure that we will always have pets after the kids move out.

@Cherylndesigns you have a little hostel going on, don't you? :D Enjoy the company Round #300?? *winks* I know you love it! Is Sam chipped? Or wears a collar? Just to be safe if he does wander... (I worry)

love to everyone!

Head of Lazy Crazy Deparment checkin' in.

Today I finished the book I started yesterday ... don't you just love it when a book is so good you can't put it down?!

Also - made a layout for a challenge at another site, which is the best layout I've ever made. I can retire from digi scrapping now, I can never top this. It's down hill from here ....

Made spaghetti & fake-on for dinner - so yummy.

Other than that ,,, nothing new to report.

Back to laziness.

Hi, all.... Back is somewhat better but not pain-free yet. I have to mail/pay a couple of bills and pick up a few groceries today. Will have my brace on so should do okay. Looks like my area is back to wearing masks even for those vaccinated. I would be doing that anyway so no biggie.

Chris, so sorry that the rats are giving you such a hard time - especially in the middle of the night! Talk about escape artists!!!! You can't help but admire their creativity in getting the cage doors opened.

:D So you are retiring??? Nah.... not going to happen! If you did once, you can doing it again - and even better.
And yes, I have gotten hooked into reading a book that I couldn't put down - then reading all night. What book was the one you couldn't put down?? Always looking for a good book and new authors.

Gotta run and get the errands done before the rain hits this afternoon. CYL

I'm sorry, it was a Swedish book. Really new one & her debut, so not translated yet. About a "simple" accountant at a publisher that meets a Hollywood star ... romance. Silly, simple story - but nevertheless a well-written love story, a real page turner.

Good afternoon!!

Chris @faerywings what a funny zoo you have - "The Rat Capades"!! Like the Follies. Rats on Parade - those naughty little girls and guys. I'll bet they're cute, though. If I see one, I'll try to remember how cute yours are. Yes, Sam is chipped. Not that that does any good, but he is. The chip only works if the animal is turned in to a rescue place or shelter. He never goes anywhere - just lays on the porches and meows when he's ready to come in. He and Daisy are getting to be buddies. He wants to go out when she goes out now and they're pretty much hanging together. She's on a very long lease/rope because she's very naughty and runs off! So, she can't go out of the yard so the cat hangs out with her. They're starting to be cute together.

Yes, it's company, continuously. After Carey leaves, some of their friends from Florida are coming. Then, it's the big wedding so who knows about that.

Kay, @BrightEyes sorry you're not back up to par. It just takes forever sometimes.

Waving to all and sending hugs.
