GoooooOd morning, dear Os!
I am sending the freezing cold air to Kay and anyone else who needs it. It is so darn chilly again. At least the sun is out and it will warm up later on. It was drizzly and grey on and off for most of yesterday and it was a good day to putter and do a puzzle with Caitlyn. I guess it was a mostly successful PJ Day :)

I am back from a short break of watching some spiny orb-weaver spiders do their spinning. We have had a ton of them building webs all over the patio and garden this summer. Right now there are three in the hedges, one web is done and the spider is hanging in the center. The other two spiders are busy making the circles. They are seriously cool to watch.

The kids made Gary a GF cook book as a Christmas in July gift and I made another recipe last night and it was a hit. Brown rice risotto - onions and garlic with veggie broth cooked in the oven and then parm cheese and white wine added at the end.
I guess I can't complain (too much) about them not giving me dinner ideas. hehe

It looks to be a very pretty day so I am going to be outside. I wish I could bottle up this weather. It is going to be a very long winter and not being able be outside or to visit family outdoors is going to be bad. But for now, I am going to do what I can.

How about you? Any good plans?

Gratitudes:
-three yummy GF dinners
-my kids and Gary
-a good night's sleep
-watching nature

Trudy- so happy that the weather cooperated for you for your hike! I hope that the winds stay calm and that you get a decent soaking rain (while you are asleep!) to the fires don't spread. California is already having a very hard time.
How is the one by your sister? Will she need to evacuate? *fingers and toes crossed for her*
That is funny abotuy saving money on clothes but spending more on crafts. We haven't been spending much money on anything other than alcohol.

Kay- Nice sleeping!! whoo hoooo! You have such a good family, that was super sweet of D-SIL. That is great news about the base lifting restrictions. Did you get my cold temps? We are supposed to get back into the 90s by the weekend.

Nancy- Did you ever make it to 89* yesterday? We tend to run colder thanthe rest of North Jersey by 5* and I know we didn't get that hot.
That is so fab that your page got featured on The O's Instagram. And *thank you so much* from all of us, the Team here really works so hard to make the O a great place to be and it warms my heart that it makes a difference!!!
Great to hear that DS is having a great time in the Ozarks! Did the weather hold out for your dinner last night? When I drove to Arlene's last week, it was nice seeing so many restaurants with canopies and umbrellas for outdoor dining. Do you think by winter NJ will be able to do limited indoor dining? Personally, I doubt it, but I tend to be a negative nelly.

There you are Felis- I was about to shout out to you, make sure you were still enjoying your summer!
Oh.
I just read the rest of your post. I am sorry that things didn't work out with that guy. It is hard but smart that you know that it isn't going to work in the long run and to make that decision. I know I have shared this story before but I had said the exact same thing- that I was 100% done with dating- and that is when I met Gary. So don't give up completely.
My hands are hurting from steam cleaning/pushing the heavy machine on top of my arthritis. They are better today but I am sure they will be bad again after I do my weeding. oh well!
I don't plan on doing doggie diapers unless I absolutely have no other choice, I will keep steam cleaning every day if I have to.

Cheryl- once you get to the new house, you are going to sleep *for-ever!* No, you won't- you will be way too busy unpacking. I am glad that the tea works for you. Take good care of yourself so you don't born out. Poor Daisy. I wish that if I had a superpower it would be to communicate with animals. If I did, I will call her and tell her it was going to be ok and that she will have so much more yard to run in and new places to sniff.

xoxo!

Morning ladies... it is raining today Hooray!! Never thought I would ever say that LOL. It rained through most of the night a nice steady rain that is very much needed! The only bad thing about it was I had to turn on the lights in the kitchen when I got up this morning  I hate that the days are getting shorter now! I woke up to the sound of fire truck sirens blasting past our house on the road above us. It turns out they came to the bottom of our street!! DH phoned and said they were down there when he was about to leave the house to go to work. Must have been a small brush fire or something because they were not there for very long. I might have to take a walk and check it out. Anyway happy that it wasn't anything serious! Strange that brush fire would start when we had rain all night long. :noidea: Perhaps it was a false alarm?? Anyway our hike yesterday was very nice, but very long! Over 10K. and it was warm and humid (well not New Jersey Humid, but Humid for us). I did not take much for photos, we have been to the falls many times and right now there isn't much water coming down, so not much to look at LOL. However it was mostly on the trans Canada trail and very pretty views of the valley! By the time I got back home my legs were tired and my feet were hot, so into the Jacuzzi Tub I went and had a good soak!! Then I finished off my page for Vicki Robinson Challenge and got that posted this morning. Today I hope to work on a few more crafts and do some things here at the O! Most likely a face time chat with Heather and the boys and then the dreaded search for something for dinner tonight :mmph:

Chris - Sorry that you are having cooler temps, but it sounds like you had a great PJ day yesterday! The spiders really are fascinating when they are making their webs! We have lots of them too! However I am not a big fan of them trying to make their way into the house! :nono: Momma don't allow no spiders inside!! LOL I am happy to hear that you will get to be outside today! Yes wouldn't it nice if we could store away all the beautiful days and bring them back out during the winter months!! I hope that this winter you will be able to visit with your family, but the way things are going, it doesn't sound promising does it?

Kay - Hooray for sleeping in!!! What a great son-in-law you have! How nice to have a sparkling car brought back to you! Happy for the more convenient times to pick up your meds!!

Nancy - Yes, so happy that the Bruins took down Carolina and now move onto the second round!! Sadly neither one of us got to see the game, but DH was sure happy when he got home from work LOL. How nice to have your page chosen for the Instagram post! We are thankful to have your beautiful pages to show off!! How fun that your son and DIL are having such a great time Kayaking and cooking!! Hope you had a great time with at the Mexican restaurant!

Felis -So happy to see you here again, but feeling sad for you that you are now heartbroken!! I wish I could be there and give you a big old hug!! I suppose that you have made the right decision, but I am sad for you that this did not work out the way you would have liked!! I know that there is someone out there for you and I hope he doesn't make you wait too much longer! Thanks for the concern about the fires, but I think that with the rain we got last night and the winds not blowing anymore, it should be alright with the fires. More rain on the way for tomorrow, so that is a blessing!

Ok I better get my bed made and grab another coffee before Heather calls! Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! It is Thursday right?? LOL.

Hello girls!
Thank you for the nice words! Yes I'm feeling so lonely, but it is what it is.
On a daily basis things are very weird too. We have political problems and marches for which I don't care at all. But the whole society is so polarized that is easy to get in conflict with strangers for no reason. I had to go to the post office few times this week, as there was stuff for my sister I had to take instead her. Everybody looks at you malicious and it's so confusing, I don't want to argue with the people who are against mask wearing as I'm actually agree with them, BUT post office is place where many people gets their retirement payments so I don't want to put these people in unnecessarily risk! When I get in there was people who pay bills, and they was "ouu, why you still supporting this regime against our freedom!" and I was OK, OK, I'll takes the mask off, but until my order was processed there comes two ladies who was "oh, no lady, please put mask on", I was looking around and realize that first group are gone and I'm left the only jerk without mask, so I excused and put the mask back. At this moment I already was touch money, letters, and doors and even I'm carefully sanitize my hands on the mask are go so much microbes that it's probably useless. I'm also terrified how many people continued to use their unpackaged cell phones, which after that go directly at their beds, on their pillows, with all the dirt on the screen. What's the point to wear mask, if you can't put your phone in one elementary plastic pack or Kitchen Foil?
Post office was stressful, but the afternoon was windy so not too hot, and it was lovely for a walk! Was nice to be out, not nice to meet people.

Chris, keep secret, but I'm hiding few spiders colonies behind the cabinets at one of my cats room! My mom insist to remove them, and I do it occasionally, but can't really understand the reason. We bring them at the garden, but they somehow always come back in. I like them a lot, they control flies, which are my enemy! I have to collect few jars too, as I plan to make jam soon. I love to hear your and Gary's meeting story every time, it's so cute! But the fairy tales not happens to everybody! Actually you all at O, surprised me a lot with your long successful marriages, as the people I have physically around me are divorced or in unhappy, painful relationships. I strongly hope that my sister will be like you! It's just too late for me!

Trudy, I would not refuse your virtual hug, as I can't say anybody here how I'm feeling. And we actually are family that never hugs, so I can't completely understand why you miss hugging so much now. WOW, it's a very long walk, not surprising that your feets are tired!OMG, here school start at september 15th, so I wasn't realize how soon your kids will have to go back to school! Is it clear how this will happens?

It has been quite a morning. Shampooed my hair for the 1st time since I got it cut earlier this week... WOW... so nice to just have to comb/brush it into place and no blow-drying, etc... and it looks and lays right! Now I remember why I liked my 'summer' cut so well.

Got a call from my sister in TX right before noon to let me know that she and most of her brother-in-law's family have tested positive for Covid-19. They had had a meal on Sunday with the whole family. The Son-in-law works in a funeral home and he tested positive on Monday. So looks like they all have gotten it. Hoping and praying that it will light cases for all of them. Brings home that even with keeping the family bubble fairly small, it only takes 1 person to get it and pass it on to all.

Have to keep the house closed up today.... have a bad air quality alert due to smoke from the Colorado and AZ fires. Can smell the smoke odor even with the house all closed up. The sky has a yellow/copper color to it. Glad I had planned on staying in today.

good day - well it is late and there is no hockey so I am watching Netflix. It is such a beautiful day I am giving it one of the 10 best of the year. Beautiful blue skies and low humidity and temps in the 80s. But of course this is 2020 so there is always bad news. My girlfriend has been diagnosed with the BRCA1 gene and so after chemo she will probably have to have a double mastectomy. We found this out at dinner out last night. She is very strong and will fight hard. Cancer sucks. Then my brotherIL just called from CA and they have had to evacuate because of the fires in CA. The fire is close to their home. It is such a cute home. This is such a horrible year.

Chris the weather yesterday was crummy in the morning but really nice in the evening. I sure hope that Ray feels better. My son hates spiders, they freak them out. Good thing his MG is good at getting rid of the them.

Trudy glad your hike went well even if long. You were busy. But it sounds like fun! I bet the time in the Jacuzzi.

Kay it must be so nice to be driving around in a spotless car. You are so lucky.

Felis hi - missed you. I Don't give romance advice but I sure am sorry. Like Chris said sometimes when you are not looking.

Have a great day

Thanks, Chris. The packers were here today - what a well-oiled team! They got so much done and we now have boxes all over the house. We finally got a moving date - day after tomorrow (Saturday AM!) So, we're going to sleep here tonight, then move to the Suite Hotel so my poor Daisy can calm down. Poor thing is SO confused with all the activity that's been going on and all these strangers in "her house". I wish you could communicate with her, too. I keep telling her that she's going with us, but they just don't understand. :( Right now, she's peacefully sleeping ON my feet. LOL That's her favorite place - under my desk ON my feet.
