I need a calendar etched inside of my brain. I am not doing so good with trying to remember and/or writing things down.
Thank goodness that Caitlyn asked me what time the fundraiser was for "today." I had the date screwed up and it is Sunday. Not Saturday. I texted Scott who was at Leah's b/c they were planning on coming back here to go too. Now they don't have to rush, they can get back here when they are ready.

My day started with a bang. Or maybe a bounce? I was walking into the kitchen and there is a 3 foot stretch of space between the stairs and the kitchen island. As I walked through that space, I got smacked in my eye socket with a hard rubber ball. Gary and Cait were playing catch with Jaida and they bounce the ball off of the wall and she chases after it. By sheer dumb luck, I was in the path of the ball. It hit me so hard that it pushed my contact lens up and over, behind my eyelid. I am surprised that I didn't get a black eye. It was a rough day for eyes and jaida since she somehow managed to get Gary's eye too when she was jumping on him. He has broken blood vessels in one eye. LOL

I made the dog cookies and shared some with the rats. I love how the recipe says 5 minutes Prep Time. Not even close! But they all love it so it is worth it. I cleaned out the one fridge too. That seemed to take forever but it is nice and shiny again. For now- it won't take long to get yucky again. Why is that?

Today I have to get my act together. I need to make Leah her card and put her birthday gift together. I need some help from Cait with that. Leah recently started bullet journaling and Cait has been doing that for months so I need her to help me gather some of the pretty word art and templates that she uses to plan her pages out.

I also have to figure out the next steps fo rout Equifax data. Looks like Gary and I might be impacted but the kids are not. Good thing since the kids have more money than we do. See -- there are benefits to being poor haha!!

I also have to figure out what I am making for my IL's birthdays. The Sept birthday bash is in 2 weeks so it has to be done by then. Ahhh!!!

In other words, I need to get off of the computer and get to work!

Trudy- I feel so bad for you all with the fires and smoke. It is crazy!! I feel horrible for all of the people with lung issues like asthma or cystic fibrosis. This has to be a struggle for them too.
I don't know if I am kind hearted or just a sucker for animals ;) Stil no word on potential arrival date of the dog. We haven't said anything to anyone (other than you!) because we know that the family is going think we are stupid for doing this. But we can't just sit back. Are we stupid? Perhaps. Something else ridiculous happened yesterday- oh yeah- Gary's insulin issues- and my only response was to throw my arms up and say that we should have some good karma coming at some point, but when?!
Maybe we will try Narcos when we are done with The Americans- we have only a few episodes left on Amazon Prime.

Nancy- give Luther some pets for being a good dog! I am happy to hear that your DS knows to stay away from your recliner LOL
There have been so many video tutorials that I want to watch but I can only imagine how intense the Anna Classes must be.

Rae- You are a marvel at clothes shopping!! I hate clothes shopping and maybe that's why I live in Gary's clothes all of the time.;)
I haven't heard of any of those shows but will keep my eyes open for some commericals or ads to see what they are about.

Jean- you must have needed that sleep but I know exactly what you mean about feeling like you lost a day. I have been watching the weather so much too- this storm is enormous and I hope that everyone stays safe. The weather looks crummy down the shore as of right now but there isn;t anything I can do about it. Even rainy, it is better than what so many others are dealing with.

Love and hugs!

good morning - Luther and I are just back for our morning walk. It is a beautiful day, blue skies and cool temps. We celebrated my DH's birthday yesterday and on Sunday my oldest is having us over for dinner. That is nice. Yesterday was the first of my prospects NJ Devils game and they won in OT against the Sabres. They did live streaming so I could watch it on my iPhone LOL. Got to love all this technology! Nothing else going on.

Chris wow Sept is another of your crazy celebration month. If Cait and Leah like to do bullet journaling they might like this site. It is 30 lists. http://30daysoflists.com They do it a few times a year I know they do one for Sept. I think on flickr they have a group. Anyway they are mini scrapbooks of lists. I did it one month a couple years ago but it is more for non digital so it would probably be fun for your girls. So sorry about your eye and Gary's. Playing with dogs is fun but you have to be careful LOL. Glad you did not get a black eye.

Trudy my weather says you are still dry. It makes me so sad to see all the fires out west.

Rae I cannot believe how well you do shopping. My sister, her daughter and one of my girlfriends are awesome at shopping. I am thinking that it is something the more you do the better you get at it. And since I don't then I don't find stuff. Have fun with all those jean jackets!

Jean glad you got the info out and then sounds like you needed the sleep. I know yesterday I did not nap and I should have.

Have a great day all!

Good morning ladies... It is finally raining here today :bliss: I never thought that I would be happy about it raining here on the West Coast :becky: It actually started raining in the afternoon and I could smell it before I could see it. I was sitting at the computer and thought what is that wonderful smell?? LOL So nice to see some significant moisture for a change! Today will be a errand day and grocery shopping of course. We are off to Home Depot to pick up a special order patio glass. We are replacing a end section of the railing on the downstairs front porch with the glass. For some reason the original owner put railing there instead of glass, the rest of the patio is glass and it is the piece where you see the best view that we have to replace. We have been meaning to do this for a few years, so it will be nice to check this job off of the to do list!! No yard work to do if the rain continues, so that is ok. Not much else happening here.

Chris - Thank goodness you found out the correct day and time for the fundraiser before Scott and Leah made the trip to join you!! OUCH!! Your poor eye!! Hope you didn't have too much trouble retrieving the contact lens from behind your eye!! Hope that you and Gary recover quickly from your injuries!! It doesn't matter what others say about your taking in a recovery dog, you know it is the right thing to do and that is all that matters! Yes we are happy to see the smoke finally decrease in our area although I think there is still some, it is certainly less than it has been! So hard for people with breathing issues for sure! Yes your family is long overdue for some good Karma!! I hope it happens soon for you!

Nancy - Your knee must be feeling much better, so nice to hear that you and Luther are enjoying your morning walks! I love morning like that when the sky is blue and temps are a bit cooler!! We are finally getting the rain we have been praying for, so hopefully they are also getting it in the interior where it is so badly needed to put out the fires! Happy Be-lated Birthday to your DH!! How nice to be going for dinner to your son's, spending special days with family is the best!! Nice that your Devils won, you must be so happy to be seeing some hockey again! Are you sure you are not a Canadian??? :becky:

Rae - You are busy, not only with work but with all of shopping also LOL!! You are the Queen of good deals, I need to shop with you as I never find anything that I like for a good price  I went to check out a local consignment store yesterday and I think it will be a good place to sell my old clothes, they are all in really good shape so hopefully will bring a good price. I am torn as to wether I should sell them on Varage Sale or at this consignment store, not sure which would be better. I can't believe you have found all those Jean Jackets, I haven't seen one LOL. I love wearing the tights with a long t-shirt too, I love tunic tops they are my fav!! I hope that you are enjoying the rain that we are finally getting, perhaps you can wear one of your 5 Jean Jackets today??

Jean - You really must have needed that sleep yesterday, but don't you hate it when it feels like you slept the day away?? Happy that you got your newsletter completed though! What exciting things have you got planned for the weekend?

I need a second cup of coffee this morning then going to watch the latest update on the Hurricanes. Praying for all those in the path of destruction!! I can't imagine what they all must be going through! Have a good Saturday everyone!

Good afternoon, ladies. Had a busy morning. We headed out early to be at Costco when it opened up to avoid the crowds and big lineups. We went to the pet store to find out the manufacturer had changed Taz's kibble so spent a long time with the store manager checking online and figuring out what was happening with his food. Turns out they changed the formulation a bit and changed their packaging but should be close to what he was eating before. Whew...b/c he is a picky eater and I didn't want to have to start all over, trying to find something he would eat. I bought a new bag, gave him a bit at lunch time and he ate it so I think it'll be ok. We had dropped our android box off last night to be reset and reloaded as Kodi was wiped out on it (suspiciously after D was fiddling around with it yesterday....hmmmm...coincidence? I think not LOL). When we got back from shopping, we got a message saying we'd forgotten to bring the power cord for the box (D had said we probably didn't need to bring it when I asked about it when unplugging last night) so I sent D to drop it off and I spent the quiet time at home watching an episode of Food Network Star (2 more episodes to finish the season) and preparing a batch of beanless chili for the crockpot. We'll have that for dinner tonight, D with beans and rice added to his portion and me with sour cream, green chilies, olives and cheese added. I'm doing some desk work today and tomorrow and also need to do some tax stuff so I will be off the computer most of the weekend. If I'm energetic enough, I may scrap a page tonight while watching TV. Tomorrow we're off to a birthday party, have to food shop and get more desk work done so probably won't be around much tomorrow either. This wkend is flying by.

Chris - I watched AHS last night and it grabbed me right from the start. I sat there with my knees to my chin, intensely watching, creeped out and disturbed, but that is the point, isn't it with AHS? I will not be watching it just before going to bed. Sorry to hear you and Gary got injured, I can relate, for sure. I'm always covered in bruises and bumps from playing with Taz, he is so fast, that he flies at you and you don't have time to protect yourself. I'm surprised D hasn't had a broken nose yet from Taz slamming into him LOL.

Trudy - how nice to get new patio glass to improve your view. It's been raining off and on all day here. It's much needed. I don't mind the cooler temps but it felt funny to put on socks and runners and then wear a raincoat LOL.

Nancy - sounds like a great wkend celebrating your DH birthday.

I'd better get going, got lots to do. Hope you are all having a great day.

I was at the historical society all day, first for the genealogical committee meeting, then a sub-committee discussion. At lunch met with another member on the project we're working on. Finally I got to look at original township records from 1818 - 1828 from a local area. They are amazing to me. Last I got to look at a signature quilt they're trying to get a handle on. I'll wind up trying to help with that too! Came home and watched football with DH. Now I've got to make dinner and watch Ohio State play.

Chris, hang in there with the calendar - at least you have another day. Whoops, that was too bad about the ball, hope both of you have OK eyes now.

Nancy, what did you think of the women's final? Sad it was so one-sided, but we've got another American winner. Or is hockey taking over your viewing now?

Trudy, sure hope weather is cooperating for you and yesterday's rain helped. Bet the glass replacing railing will be nice.

Rae, your additions to the chili sound better! Have fun at the birthday party.

And thinking of everyone in Irma's path and hoping for your safety!

It seems wrong to have such peaceful, sunny skies here this morning after hearing about Irma for days now and know it is hitting FL as I type. I am hoping that at least it will be warmer here today than it was yesterday. I could not get warm.

I think that I got a few things accomplished that I needed to do- I finished Leah's gift and card and I hope that she liked them. I figured out what I am going to make for my IL's gifts after spending a lot of time on Pinterest. I don't go there a lot anymore and I think they must have changed their logarithm and search parameters because it was weird and wonky trying to find things. But I found a post on how to make autumn scented soy candles and I actually have everything that I need for that, minus the tea cups. Plus, I found a way to inexpensively make a pumpkin centerpiece just using dollar store items. Now I just need to get to a dollar store.

I spoke with the woman with the dog foster org and the dogs will be here this afternoon and we will be getting "ours" tonight. We have to head down to pick her up after dinner. I think that we are pretty much ready, aside from getting a few small things together. That hardest part is going to be keeping our dogs separated because there is no way to know if the dogs have kennel cough. She said that her org has them cleared by their vet but that they are traveling with other dogs that they don't know the status of. So for a few days, we will keep the new one gated off in the DR and keep an ear out for the coughing. She has two dogs picked out as possibilities for us but we won't know which one until we get there. One is a 7-month-old lab/pit mix (like my Princess J!), the other is a 2 yo terrier mix (maybe? she was unsure of the actual breed, but a small-ish mutt basically). So we will see!

I think that I am having a touch of anxiety over this and everything else going on since I had nightmares all night. Not scary ones but the getting lost going to class ones. All night. :gaah:

Prepping for food shopping, going to see the yoga goats at the fundraiser, hopefully going to the library to buy some old paperbacks to bring to the beach if we are lucky enough to get there. I still don't know what kinds of clothes to pack and I don't think that I have anything in my closet but no time to get out anywhere. Maybe tomorrow afternoon, I can run down to the Marshalls that is a half hour from me. A dollar store is next door so I can look for what I need for ILs gift.

I swear that I go from having absolutely nothing to do and am bored out of my mind to having so many different things happening at once and feeling totally out of control. :pound:

I'd better get going, I have to wash my hair this morning and I want it sort of dry before we head out. Hugs!!!

Nancy- happy birthday to your DH! Hope he is enjoying his birthday weekend. That is cool that you can watch the devils on your phone! I think you are right about shopping, you need to have a practiced "eye" for it and patience. Of which, I have neither. :p
Thanks for that link, I will share it with my girls!

Trudy!! Yay for the rain!!! Can you tell if it made a difference in the air? I hope that it helped tamp down some of the fires too. I bet your patio is going to look fantastic with the glass. It hurt trying to find and get my contact lens back to where it needed to be but once it was settled, it was all good.

Rae- thank goodness that you were able to get food that Taz will eat. My dogs will eat anything and everything LOL
Have fun at your party!

Jean- so fascinating to have all of this history to see and learn about. Must be heaven for you!

Gotta run!

good late morning - again a busy start to the day before I have time to get online. My DH and I took Luther to a local park and I had to hold Luther while my DH got his poop picked up but Luther decided to chase the birds and I will never hold a rope again. I have a rope burn on my pinkie and I let him go before he pulled me down. What a joke. We then walked through the woods to a creek and of course he let Luther walk and drink in the water which he knows irritates me. So I refused to walk that way and of course Luther will not walk without me. LOL. The signs around the lake all say pesticide treated. Really. I should be making him drink the water. But the weather is gorgeous and cool and the rest of the walk went well. He was good and did not bark or chase joggers or bikers. He is better behaved than my DH. The only good thing is that today is a Luther bath day so he will be smelling good soon. I got really good news from my oldest son. He and his friend have started a BBQ catering business. Yesterday they did a pig roast for 60 people. They have a site on Facebook and have done three so far and everyone is so happy and the best part is is that he is so happy. So they do the meat but also all the sides. I am going to get his photos and do a page or two. I am so happy for him. He loves being a mechanic but it is the people that sometimes drive him crazy. Watching the flooding in Florida and it is just amazing to see this in real time.

Chris wow you will be busy. So happy for you getting your puppy! I know you are stressed but as much as you and your family love animals you will be a great foster parent. Have fun with all the animals today! I can't wait to hear how that went. Glad you got all the presents figured out. That has to be a relief. So funny my dreams were as if I was writing them. Who knows what our dreams mean! LOL

Trudy wow how fantastic to have your new glass to put in. And always good to check off one more item on the to do list. I can't wait for tonight as it is our first episode of season 3 Outlander. I am so excited but darn I want the whole season all at once.

Rae my Luther is pretty picking when it comes to eating too. That is why I love my pet store. They care and were so helpful in find the correct food. Glad that you found a good new version for Taz.

Jean yes I watched the Open finals. I thought Madison would be more competitive. I understand it is hard to lose but when you preform so poorly has to be worse and then you have to stand there and be given the runner's up and listen to the winner. She will get better but wow Sloane was awesome. Congrats on those Indians. Wow! Glad you had such a good day in the past.

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... Sunny and cooler here today, it was actually chilly in the house this morning. So nice to see the blue skies and no more smoke!! Not much happening here today, perhaps we will work on getting the glass replacement in today :noidea: Just nice to have a relaxing morning! So a bit of laundry and still have to make some breakfast for DH, but no real big plans.

Chris - I can understand your anxiety over taking in the new dog!! It will be a total change for everyone in the house! Keeping my fingers crossed that the new arrival does not have Kennel cough!! You are an angel for doing this!! It must have been a strange night last night as I had getting lost nightmares too!! Mine were about Heather being a little girl and I couldn't find her anywhere?? So strange!! Was there a full moon last night? So nice that you found some great gifts for your busy Month of birthdays etc. That is half the battle! Enjoy the sunshine today, it does not seem right that others are having such a frightening time right now with the weather though does it!

Ok DH is bugging me for his breakfast, so I will come back in a bit to catch up with the rest of you.

We watched Irma coverage until football time on TV. Hope everyone is safe. It is incredible. Here it is beautiful though a little cool. No special plans for us.

Chris, hope all goes well with the fostered dog. Sure hope it doesn't have kennel cough. Should be some interesting days coming for all of you with the addition. Brava to you for doing it.

Nancy, do you watch any football? This afternoon it'll be interesting to see if Rafa has an easy time of the final or not. Don't know what to say about your DH with the water. Your DS's business sounds scrumptious. Wonderful he can do something to make him happy. Look forward to seeing your LOs of them.

Trudy, hurray that the smoke is down! Hope it is a lovely day for you.

Rae, I'm sure you're having a good day too.

Thinking of all in harm's way and wishing everyone well.
