The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
The two days of school really really threw me off, I can't believe it is a weekend already. I almost wish we had one more day of school. My family is having a rough adjustment, although its more of a rough patch that seems to be going on for along time. Part of it is b/c the kids are older and they are in the "I know it all so don't lecture me" stage. Part of it is the stress of back to school. Part of it is Gary's illness. Part of it is the fact that I am becoming super-sensitive to any criticism from them, which just keep the cycle rolling. *Every* year, I live for summer, with hopes that it rejuvenates me. And every year, summer ends and nothing has changed. *shrugs* You'd think I would have learned by now!!!

Oh well...... just keep swimming........:D

One a good note, I made a new recipe of chicken and bacon in the crock pot. Gary loved it, I thought it was good, Scott ate a bite or two and Cait wasn't here. I'll make it again, I think.

Dining room painting came out good. I did the same color as it was, just covered over the claw marks from the cats and freshened it up. I found the white semi-gloss paint for the trim in the basement, but by the time I got the can opened, it came pouring out the bottom that had rusted through. Thank goodness I had it on newspaper! Today I am doing the hallway upstairs. And then I am scrapping darnit!

How about you? Good fun stuff?

Make sure that you check out the challenges for Back to School. I did 2 so far and they are fun. And lots of prizes!!!

Hugs!!!

From yesterday:

How did work go Laurie? We have been hot out here too, and so humid!

Linda S- wowza!!!! Your niece should be a model!! And those are some very nice grad pictures-- much nice than the lovely (ugh) posed ones I had done sitting. :D

Phyllis- that is a GREAT point, I couldn't do the teens again if you tried.Unless of course, I started self-medicating before they hit the teens years and by the time they were in HS I wouldn't give a damn any more
I am the same way, no idea about fashion, no desire to squish my feet either. HOpe you can find something nice yet comfy to wear.

Hi Jen! How did the cupcakes come out? Did you get to eat the "broken" ones?

Nana- you crack me up! Yeah, I have to ask Cait about that. We just had to show our student ID to get in to games. What kid or parent has $15 for a football game? Have a fab day being with the kids and then without them, Enjoy your dinner out! (Are you bringing mike? LOL)

Eva!! LOL

Donna- Men and home improvements... *shakes head* :D

Kim- Yay!! Its always feels awesome to hear that people like out little cOrner of the scrap wOrld! how was lunch with your friend? I feel your pain about the dishes! And its hard with having a little one who is much more fun to pay attention too :)

Trudy- your vaca sounds heavenly!!!!! Thank you so much for your sweet words and support. You have heard me say t before, but sometimes I feel like I cannot do a thing right either for them or for myself, and it makes me happy to hear you say that you think I am a good mom.

love you all!!!

morning O fam- off to dance and spending time today with MMG- hope to scrap tonight, we shall see. Cool and rainy here- we garnered another 2 inches! good for the ground!

Chris, you are a great mom. which gives you the right to say to anyone who is making you feel badly: i'm not sure what i've done to make you believe that it's OK for you to speak to me (treat me, etc.) like this. but let me just reinforce this idea for you: i do a lot for everyone in this house. i expect to be greated kindly and with respect, or i will have to rethink my involvement in your everyday life. i am a mom and housewife (and in your case, Chris, someone who works hard outside the home.) that doesn't mean that i am a whipping boy, valet, chauffer or servant-- unless i CHOOSE to be. so unless you would like to experience a radical change in the quality of your life, i suggest that you adjust your treatment of me to reflect all that i do for you.

sigh...sorry to be preachy. i know things are a lot more complicated at ground level. but, you know, maybe they're not. i think pointing out lines to people in your life is one of the major jobs of women. you have to SHOW them the point beyond which you will not go and that they had better NOT go. and to do it without rancor. THAT is the part i have trouble with. i specialize in yelling....

i woke up to a giant crack of thunder at about 5:45 a.m. i've been scrubbing and cleaning since then. the house NEEDS it! i think the rest of the day is going to involve cleaning. i've just been yelling at my husband, who decided he was thinking of tramping out into the rain and mud to pick some raspberries. and then track all that crap over the floors i just scrubbed. unfortunately, the diplomatic approach is not my style.he watched me scrubbing floors for the last hour. he deserves to be yelled at for cluelessness. and hopefully he'll have learned something about what NOT to do after he watches me scrub floors. men. honestly.

tap your Inner B%#ch! and have a great weekend.

Oh Chris I'm sorry you have to go through that stage with the kids it really sucks!!!!!!!!! Glad your dining room came out good!!!!! And your bacon chicken sounds amazing I'm curious about it!!!!

The cupcakes came out awesome and no I didn't get any giggles we had a fire last night that was fun and supposed to be a cooker today 30 c and my dh has to bring his cattle to another pasture and then we have to butcher he rest of our chickens. Ooooooo and yesterday I was driving to town an my steering wheel was off the roof bouncing so now I need new tires apparently it's very dangerous I have a ripped cord. How would I know ???? Lol lol. Well good thing nothing happened :). So that'll be my day today nothin exciting!!!!

Morning ladies!!! Another sunny hot day here today! Where was this weather in July??? Oh well I love our Septembers they are usually always sunny and warm. Off to Parksville today to visit SIL Linda. She asked my MG (her brother) to help her go through the stuff in the garage and sort out what she needs and what she doesn't. Since her hubby died it has been bothering her that she has all this stuff in garage that was his and she has no clue what to keep. So hopefully we will get through the day without many tears??

Chris - Just do what Phylis says, I swear that we should all call her up and tell her to give our families the what for !!!! :becky: You hang in there sweetie, they will appreciate you one day! You are an AMAZING MOM!!!!

Laurie - have a wonderful day with your MG!! Enjoy your dancing!!

Phylis - You are the Queen of great advice!! I simply adore you and your outlook on life! Bet your MG never walks across your freshly scrubbed floors again!! MY SIL told me that her father used to do that to her mom (my MIL) all the time and she never said a word! I would have strangled him!!! He still is of the mind set that women are there to serve ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? But she has enabled him to be that way. :frusty: Anyway I hope you have a great day and that you get to do something fun today!!

Jen - Do you help with the chickens? Sounds like you are a true prairie girl!! Best people in the world live on the prairie!! I miss them! We had such good friends in Sask. Glad your cupcakes turned out well ! Yikes on the steering wheel!! Just think of what could have happened!! Hope you can get it fixed quickly! Have a safe day!!

Well better get some breakfast for MG and myself, then off to beautiful Parksville for the day. I think we will pickup some steaks to BBQ for SIL as she has to be taught how to use the BBQ for herself, she loves the BBQ but has no clue how to cook on it. That's what happens when you depend on someone too much, my MG even made me learn how to change the tires on the car by myself and many other things thank goodness, so that I would not have to be dependent on him. Thanks Hubby :becky:
Have a wonderful Saturday everyone

LOL Trudy... yep I'm a prairie girl and yes I help along... can't very well let my DH do everything! I tell ya though last saterday I pulled all the beets out of the garden and had to get them ready for the freezer and we grew so many beets I HAVE NO IDEA WHY anyways don't tell the DH but I got sick of it and threw a whole bunch out to the COWS!!!!!!!! Bwaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa he would have a dickie bird if he only knew... I know it's so bad to keep secrets but really... I just couldn't look at another beet and I was busy with it from 9 - 3:30 in the afternoon and trust me I had a million other things to do. I even made a weeks worth of sandwhiches for the kids for lunch and froze them too. With this many kids I have to be so organized and sheesh, who wants to do beets an entire day?????????????????????

Share!

I'm stuck in the early 17th century searching for a man who just disappear from all records. Gee, the clergy (they kept the records here in Sweden) was sloppy and lazy back then!

Wow Sounds yummy. Don't think I can get that soup over here, but ordinary cream of mushroom must do. But I thought you couldn't use dairy products in the crock pot?

Eva, I am allergic to mushrooms, so I just used a can of cream of chicken (just one can too) I guess the sour cream is stable enough to not curdle?

Wow! Go Phylis - "so unless you would like to experience a radical change in the quality of your life, i suggest that you adjust your treatment of me to reflect all that i do for you." - AMEN sister!!!!!!!!! :)

Soccer game this morning.....Savannah's birthday at 1...we didn't leave until 4....best part of the whole thing were the sock races....they call the kids to come out on that slick polished skating rink to run in their socks....Cameran rocked his age group coming in 2nd and Jesse rolled away with his age group...and we cheated and put him in the 6 yo group...which he is only 5....but the cutest EVER was Savannah....that little thing ran her little heart out...I WISH I HAD A VIDEO CAM WITH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took the kids to Mom's...stopped for subway...toooooo tired to go out....

Oh..and I found my inner bitch this morning....took Jesse to get his hair cut at the walk in place....said it would be about a 15 minute wait....we waited about that much time...and the people in the chairs were all about finished...so I was pleased, until a family of four walked in and said they checked in online...ALL OF THEM...so they started calling them ahead of Jesse and the other two people waiting....WE LEFT...with me muttering some words (outloud)...something about "bunch of crap".... just a little bit angry! and it wasn't too

Ugh...just had a four paragraph post eaten by cyberspace. I know, I know, Chris always tells me to copy and paste. So my own fault. :-( (That is the closest thing that I could find to a dunce cap.)

Sydney had a soccer game at 9 out of town so we were on the road by 8. Then came home and watched the Iowa - Iowa State football game while baking Snickers cupcakes. Yummm...

Today is Dad's 83rd birthday so he came out with my brother, sister-in-law and two of my nieces to have pizza and eat cupcakes. Very, very strange to have such a small group to celebrate birthdays. But with Mom gone and oldest niece living a couple of hours away and in grad school and nephew living a couple of hours away and next niece working, it was a small celebration.

Then Syd and Brian and I watched Yours, Mine and Ours. (Shaun had better TV to watch. ;-) ) I remember going to the drive in when I was a little girl and watching the original with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. Funny how time moves on...

Think I will post this and then come back for personals. Don't want to lose it again.

Chris, I so wish you lived nearby. I would come paint with you and then in a few weeks you could come paint with me. It seems to be a common thread, me wishing that you lived nearby...

Phylis, what a speech! You go! As a matter of fact, Phylis for President!!!

Laurie, I hope that you had a good day dancing with your guy.

Oh Nana, your day sounds exhausting...but fun. :-)

And Jen, 6 hours of beets is more than enough!!! I'm sure the cows enjoyed the diversity in their diet. (Must admit, wish you had taken a photo for one of your smashing full picture layouts!)

Trudy, I hope that the day with your S-I-L was a healing day with happy memories. And hope that your husband was able to help your sister learn a few of those things to be more independent.

just got back home- left at 8:45 and it is 10:30pm- sigh- dance, traveled the state with my man as he still had work to do. Did not have to cook though and ended with deep fried snickers - a dessert we had been trying to have enough room for. Now I can say I have had it, but I will be fine if I do not ever have it again.

I was up at 4 am.....a lovely hot flash woke me....and to add to the pleasure, I was hearing noises.....I am just a tad bit paranoid at the moment....5 days ago one very STUPID local managed to let his 8ft python escape and still has not been found!! WTH??? They keep playing it down saying it's not dangerous and it won't go very far from the owner's house (as a normal when this happens, not more than 3 miles....REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NORMAL???????????????!!!!! HOW MANY PYTHONS ARE ESCAPING OUT THERE?????????)...we live about 7 miles from where it escaped...my parents are inside the 3 mile radius......BOY I FEEL GOOD!!!! It really didn't phase me too much at first...but it's been 5 days..and that bad boy has got to be hungry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.wdbj7.com/news/wdbj7-missing-8-foot-python-in-roanoke-20120905,0,3871285.story

When I got up this morning I sat on the front porch for a few minutes (had to cool off) and the crescent moon was shining and so many stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was gorgeous!!!!! I rarely see a sky with that many stars anymore!!!!

Did I ever say how much I adore my O-Fam?? And that all of you brighten my day so much???
Well, if I haven't, *grin* or its been to long since I did, I am sayin' it again!!

I got the hallway all painted yesterday, but what a b****. The paint was old and thick so I had to fight with it a bit. But it is done and it looks good!!!! And it has been more than 24 hours since I painted the dining room, and the cats haven't scratched the walls yet. Next week is going to be a living area steam clean of the carpets. We are having a big family b-day party here on the 22nd for about 7 family birthdays, so I want it to look nice. Actually its my excuse to kick myself in the butt and get it done b/c if I don't have any sort of deadline, it will be this way forever. ;)

(I just checked the evite site and so far everyone is coming. That's good, right?? Right??!!)

Today is going to be more mellow (hoping!!). Scheduling, bill paying, menus for the week. Gotta get Scott from his GF's and hit some stores on the way home b/c the kids need more school supplies. Gary has football to watch so that leaves me and some scrap time. I tried to scrap yesterday and it was one of those days where I would look and a photo, plop it on some paper. Close file w/o saving. Grab a new paper, add a photo. Close file w/o saving... Have you ever done that? Over and over?? LOL I bet you all have. So I gave up and tagged some stuff in ACDSee that had been needing to get done. Hopefully the mojo will be rocking in me today!!

Hope it is all rocking in you today too!!!!!!!!!

Nana-- hot flashes, that was me the night before, and now that it is getting colder at night the swings between hot and sweaty and freezing and sweaty is so much worse.

If you haven't been seeing Nana's photos on FB recently, you have to check them out. She posted up a few from Cameran's soccer game yesterday. She is amazing!! Her action shots are to die for. For real.

FWIW Nana, Gary had a Burmese python when se first started dating. He sold it when it got to be 5-6 feet. But the good thing is that they don't bite and are not poisonous. They are constrictors, so be careful with any pets, small dogs or cats, but you'll be safe! We had 2 exotic snakes found up a few miles away from me last month, an albino python and a boa a few days later. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be seeing them in my yard! I'll take the bears any day (they are cute and fuzzy although mama is a bit more dangerous :D)

Laurie-- what, no deep fried snickers every day? :D

Linda S-- Copy and paste, copy and paste!!!! No need for a dunce cap though :D
I know exactly what you mean, I really truly wished I lived closer or had the ability to teleport IRL to see all of you. How is the new house coming? Are you all settling in?

Snickers cupcakes?? *drool* I am sure that even though the celebration was smaller this year, the love you all have just grows.

Nana- the party sounds too fun!!! I am sorry that you didn't get to go out for dinner, but just not having to cook and discipline for one meal must have been divine! WTH about the hair cuts? Seriously?? Like they couldn't have cut his hair quickly? no common sense in the world!!

Phyllis-- gotta say it again, your advice is so sound and real. And I know it is what I have to do. I talked to Gary the other day and things will change up but it *never lasts*!!!! I told him that I get that the kids are older but its like the 4 of us are in our own little worlds and that is NOT how I want my family to be.

Jen-- I give you credit, I would have not made it 6 minutes let along 6 hours before I started chucking beets!! What a great visual I had!!!!! :pound:

Trudy- how did the visit go yesterday? I hope that if there were tears it was bittersweet......YMG is good to teach you how to do those things. My dad taught me a lot, I used to know how to do my own tires, change my own oil..... not any more. They are very good skills to have.

Eva-- did you ever find your family member?

::grouphug

Linda s I want your snicker cupcake recipe !!!!! That sounds sooooooo good!!!!
And Chris I would totally help you paint... Hahahha it would end up a mural bit it would be
Done lol!!!!!
Other Linda ... HOLY SNAKES ARE U SERIOUS THAT WOULD CREEP ME OUT SOOOOO BAD!!!!!! WOWOWOWWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOEOWOW yuck I'm freaked right out!!!!

Last night dh and I celebrated our anniversary. Which was last saterday but dh was soooooooooooo pissed at me!!!! I'll tell u the story why. The night before our anniversary we were at my BIL bday party. I got bored and spotted a package of cat treats so I arranges them nicely on a plate and set them on the table. Before I could blink my dh grabbed a handful shoved them down his throat and went back for more!!!!! Everyone started laughing and he figured it out and yelled " WHO THE F WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS?". So my BIL says... "YOUR WIFE" and my DH SAYS "NOT AGAIN" oh man I feel so bad but I couldn't apologize to him for 3 days cuz everytime I tried I started laughing and couldn't control myself!!!!!!!!!'. Ok. It's out of my system now and I do not know why I do these things. At my age you would think I've grown up... But no...... Hahahahaa so I finally managed a half sincere apology so he's forgiven me giggles but felt bad THA we didn't celebrate our 17th anniversary. We had a great time last night anyways:).

Jen-- you are cracking me up!!!! I thought I needed a "Spit Warning" from Eva, but I think you are just as bad!!!

ROTFLMAO LINDA!!!!! Coulda been an all out beet war!!!!!!!!! Giggles have ya seen the size of that man... One beet chucked at me would be certain death lol

Sorry for makin you spit Chris lol one time I was reading somehing whilst swallowing coffee and it literally came thru my nose onto my keyboard and screen. Thought I was dying for sure!!!!!!!
