You all can come out of hiding, I am feeling much better today.:peep:
At least my brain is feeling much better. And yeah, I think the body is not in as much pain. So no rants and yelling from me. At least not right now hahahah!!!!

Yesterday was a good day for my soul. It needed a bit of rejuvenating and repair. I worked out in the yard for about 2 hours. Clearing out the dead leaves and flowers actually was ok. I typically am not a fan of this time of year as things start to die but just getting rid of the brown stuff made what is left of the green so much nicer. So I listened to more of the story of Jaimie and Claire and Ian (I swear, I have a book-crush on him  ) and just breathed. At one point Gary came outside with the dogs and saw a couple of toads in the grass. We have a toad nest! I had never heard of such a thing. But this one toad wouldn't move, stayed in one spot for hours so Gary Googled to find out of toads have nests and yes, yes, they do. he put a little yellow flag up next to the spot so we can keep the dogs away as well as the lawn mower.
Cait came home from school and said she had a really good day, whew!!!!! Very happy with her classes, got lots of compliments on how she looked, had fun with her friends, yay yay yay!!!! I scrapped a page for an Anna Challenge and I loved it!!!I keep looking at it cuz it makes me smile :) I know that must sound pretentious but I really like it! hahah!!!
Then in the afternoon, I was looking out my window to see a couple of squirrels and bunnies in my yard. The funniest thing was this one squirrel who kept picking up a twig, somersaulting over it, hopping around like a madman. Then that squirrel chased after one of the buns, but then I realized that they were playing together too!

Isn't it amazing how nature and family and a nice scrap page can make it all right in the world?

I have to take the dogs outside, but I will be back!

Dogs are all set, I have some more coffee, my Linus Blanket over me, and I am all good!
Would anyone like a cup? :tea:

My mom is coming up to see the kids for bagels and a chat. Trudy posted something about Mom-Worry on FB and it was something that I needed to see today, so when she comes up, I am going to give her a huge hug and let her know that I am all right. My "all right" might not mean I am feeling perfect, but at least she will know that I am still moving along.

Claire- how old are your kids? I love puttering outside with my plants and I love coffee so a garden/coffee shop center sounds like Heaven! Hope you got your scrap pages done too.
BTW- if you every have any questions and need help navigating the site, just ask! It can be intimidating at first, but we all love to help when we can.

Shar- that must have been a shock to the system to see the pool filled with kids!
I am glad that Eric didn't have to get a rabies shot. A friend of mine from years ago had to go through that and from what she said it was BAD! The drs here did the same thing when Brendan got bit by his Great Dane before he moved in here. I was shocked to hear there were no stitches but the dr said the same thing, it would trap any bacteria inside. Scary stuff. Hope the check back went well.

Trudy- yeah, Cait and Scott are both a bit of rebels, (cannot imagine where they get *that* from tee-hee!!!!)and they have to learn to pick their battles intelligently. I almost never do autumn flowers like mums and such. I try to hold on to summer as long as I can and then there is such a short period of time before we start on Halloween. But I love seeing other people's houses done nicely. I am sure that yours and Claire's will look awesome!

I think my biggest part of CT work that I dislike is the posting of pages and not commenting on others. DST I don't mind but other open sites like the DigiChick, I feel terrible for not participating/commenting. I try to leave some love here and there, but my main focus is here.

Maybe it takes you a long time to scrap a page Trudy- but wow the effort is worth it- you are creating some seriously gorgeous stuff!

Sharron- I hope that you continue swimming when you need to go to the other pool! You have made such progress in it! (And I chuckle to myself since I live in the town where it is 45 minutes to everywhere, 12 mins seems so quick :pound: )

Hugs and love to all!!!

So glad you had a good day Chris, lovely to hear about the toad and so on in your garden. My sons are 25 and 22, my eldest lives in Newcastle and my youngest is at home. Glad your daughter had a better day at school too.

I have spent the morning doing artplay in between boring things like washing etc. Thought I would show what I have done as I am really proud of it, after all it is only a week since I "landed" at oscraps and got introduced to the whole idea of art play.
newby-gallery.jpg

I was so nervous doing my first Anna challenge, its amazing how quick you can settle into it though isnt it.
I need to go in the gallery to see your layout chris, oooooooo it is spectacular, left you some love in the gallery, tell me what did you do to the quote to make it stand up like that if you know what I mean.
I have taken some photos of flowers in the garden so will have a play around with them this afternoon.
Will come back in later to see everyone elses daily news :tea:

Chris, sooooo glad you are feeling better today. Fun story about the bunny and squirrel playing together! Never heard of that. I liked Trudy's poem so much I "shared" it onto my own FB page! Glad Cait had a better day.

Yes...Chris, I feel uncomfortable just "dumping" my pages onto other sites too. And I notice that no one ever comments on them, and wonder how effective it is to post them on sites where I'm not a regular. I'm only a regular on 3 sites (it was only two until recently when Romy nudged me over to Mscraps, where IRONICALLY, that's where I'm a guest CT-er!). Here is where I spend 90% of my time...and money! LOL When Anna was at Designer Digitals, I was there every day, but not so much since she she came here. (In fact I discovered Oscraps BECAUSE this is where Anna came!) And I can't post CT pages at DD because they don't allow you to post to their gallery unless your page contains some of their products. I was reminded of that the other day with a rather chastising email! oooops.

Trudy, Jean, Chris, and Claire, your pages are stunning. Yes, at first, Anna's art is a little scary, but once you get your toe in the water, it is so much fun, and way easier than you thought it would be. I really don't "get" the doll thing, and don't feel like I really have the time this month to explore it further.

As to autumn gardening, I'm on the same page with that as I am with spring or summer gardening: I enjoy looking at other people's work. I don't do ANY gardening. Captain Romance does it all. Another reason I have to die first. If he dies first, I will have to move to an apartment!

Yesterday was such fun on the golf course. The weather never warmed up quite enough, but the threatening-looking clouds never rained on us. Dave shot an 89, so he was thrilled (breaking 90 is a big deal to him still). I, once again, did not keep score, but I made several pars. There are two holes where we had to shoot across quite a wide river, and I made beautiful "safe" shots both times. The second one was even pretty close to the pin, and one of the holes I parred.

Erik goes in for his check-back today, so I'm anxiously awaiting an update.

Don't have to leave the house today, so I'll be doing more CT pages...maybe do a challenge or two as well. All this CT "work" has me way behind my normal Challenge schedule!

Enjoy Saturday!

Happy Saturday everyone!! A beautiful morning here, the lake is like glass and the mountain reflecting in it is just a thing of beauty!! We are doing some errands today and then up to the In-Laws to visit with them and SIL and her her son and DIL and her two grands. I have not seen the new baby yet and it will be nice to see a little one again! SIL will be happy to be able to spoil a little girl at last, she had three boys (one very young that was given up for adoption) and her first grand child was also a boy. My GD Sadie was the only girl grandchild/great grandchild up until now.

Chris - How wonderful that you are feeling much better today! I love the story of the squirrel and bunny, too cute!! Nature is a great healer!! I have never heard of a toad nest before. We found a frog of some kind on our upper front deck yesterday, attached to one of the chair arms. Not sure how on earth he could have possibly gotten there?? No stairs going to this deck and it is way up on the second story of the house. :noidea: That poem was just perfect for me and it brought a tear to my eye! Wishing my kids were not so darn far away!! Thank you for the lovely compliments on my pages!! So nice of you! You have been doing some awesome work yourself!!

Claire - It is great that you are enjoying the ArtPlay and working with Anna's stuff is so easy to be creative! I too am doing the boring stuff like :washing: today, but looking forward to getting outside to do some yard work before heading to the In-Laws.

Shar - I feel the same way about dumping my layouts at other sites, but find that if I post a layout I will leave at least one comment on someone else's page and it seems to help and only takes a moment to do. What a great golf game you and hubby had!! I can't imagine making par that many times LOL , but when you only golf once every 10 years its pretty hard to get better at it :becky: Keep us up to date with Erik's progress, keeping our fingers crossed that he will not have any infection or signs of rabies :fear: Have a great time doing your pages today, wish I could get a few more done. I need to start the challenges also.

Ok off to make poached eggs on toast for DH and myself, have a great day everyone

Afternoon, all. Beautiful but hot again today. Workers were here briefly to do some gutter repair/replacement but now it's blissfully quiet. I'm taking a break from sister things today as nephew is up for the day. Thinking of places to spend time with A/C.

Chris, thanks for the art doll inspiration to use it as scrap therapy! You certainly understood where I was coming from. And it really was much easier to get into the art doll idea with a compelling thought to illustrate. In fact, Sharron, if you change your mind about it, I can see you decking Avery out as a warrior princess or in a suit of armor or something to give her some loving.

Also, Chris, glad you got in a better day and so many ways the yard gave you good vibes. Glad you'll be giving Mom a good hug.

Claire, your art play looks wonderful! So glad you found the O and art play which as others have said makes creating easier.

Sharron I've never done CT work, but long ago did post at some sites other than my main one and found it less satisfying. At my pre-O home I was on a team a little like the Cheery-Os and did a lot of commenting and have to say I can't keep it up like that any more as much as I like the comments on mine. As you know I can't even get in gear to actually write here every day. What you're doing now sounds like the best way. Sure hope Erik's check up is A-OK.

Trudy, sounds like a nice day for you. My SIL was 70 the year she became a grandmother to two little girls, one for each of her children, and her joy is even greater this summer with a grandboy added.

Wishing all a lovely weekend and in the US a long one for Labor Day.

hey there and happy Sunday! I hope that all of you had a really nice day yesterday. The weather here was amazing- cool for me, but not too cold. I worked outside for another hour, just so nice to "be." I felt pretty good until about 4pm, which is amazing.

My mom stayed for a couple of hours and it was nice to be able to give her a hug. She needed to vent about my dad and my brother and I just let her. She and my dad have very different ways of looking at things and both can be (very) passive-aggressive. Sometimes I need to talk them both down to see the other side. I wish I could sometimes see things in black and white, but nope, I am all shades of grey area.
I also told her I was going to try to keep touch with her better. She said how my brother will call her and ask her how I am doing, that he called and I sounded awful-- well he calls me at 7pm! I am toast (burnt toast!!LOL) at that point. If he wants to catch me sounding good- call me between 9am and 12pm. hahahah!! I guess it must be hard for them to see/hear me not well and then continuing to imagine the worst.
Thank you so much Trudy for that A-ha moment.

Today I have to catch up on some laundry and clean a Wilton Cake decorating mess from the other day. Cait has a Wilton Cake "tackle box" for lack of a better word and one of the icing colors leaked in my closet. Fuchsia food dye everywhere, including on my floral Dr Martens. For future reference, fels naptha worked amazing on them.;)
The funniest thing is that it doesn't dry so wherever I missed cleaning a spot, and would inadvertently bump into it, I would end up with hot pink splotches on my skin. I had one on the back of my bicep that I had no idea about until Gary point it out to me. :eek2:
Cleaning all of that up is going to be "interesting" to say the least.

Hope that all of you have a super day!

Claire- what a pretty page! Doing artsy pages can be a bit overwhelming at forst, but once you get started, it is hard to stop, right? LOL
The amazing thing about it is that there is no right or wrong and it always comes out gorgeous.
The quote I used on that LO was a sticker from the collab kit and I used a drop shadow to make is stand out a bit.
If you wanted to take word art and make it into a sticker, you would use Stroke and then you could add Drop Shadow. If that isn't making sense, let me know and I can clarify it. What program are you using?

Sharron- wasn't that poem perfect? It really helped me to see how my mom was feeling and how I was *not* helping the situation even though I thought I was protecting her. How is everyone in Utah holding up?
WTG on a good golf day and can't wait to see more of your challenge LOs!

Trudy- I hope that you got good baby snuggles in yesterday! I loved it when Christopher was a baby and I could hold him all day long. It is much more relaxing holding someone else's baby without your mind thinking of all the other stuff that has to get done, like laundry and showering :D
That is funny about the frog on your deck- must haven't gotten lost. We had a frog in our pond yesterday, first one we had seen all summer. Then Gary was in the backyard with the dogs and I was in the front yard weeding, when a bear walked through the back. I missed seeing him although I could see and hear the brush moving about.

Jean- i hope that you were able to enjoy visiting with your nephew. So glad that my Doll LO inspired you. I also have a hard time visualizing something less literal. Oh yes, I could totally see an Avery Warrior Doll!! That is a fab idea!

Better get going, I have been up since 5am, and have such a limited window of energy hahah!!!

hugs!!!!!

Afternoon everyone
this morning we were gardening, we actually have a summers day here, amazing after temps in the 50s last week. We have been weeding and I managed to clear the three tier basket and get it planted up with violas, cyclamen and ivies. Then at Robbies request we went out for lunch just a snack soup for him and scones for us, we go to a garden centre that has a cafe and small stalls selling cards and books, dvds craft items and lots more, a great place to go for a bit of an outing.

trudy hope you got all that washing done, wish I had l;eft mine until today it would have dried in minutes instead of taking all day :eek:hwell:hope the visit went well with the inlaws.

Jean- will go look for your art doll layout, glad you got some peace and quiet after the repairers had been

Chris- glad you had a good day with your Mum, good luck with thecleaning, sounds messy!
Thanks for the idea re the stroke and drop shadow, would be useful when putting some text over some of the artplay things.
hope you all have a good Sunday

Sounds like an excellent week end for everyone...and I'm up there with you. We got an email from Zanna last night that made us both shed a few joyful tears. First off, Erik's thumb is improving, and no infection so far...no stitches either! He must still take meds, and be cautious, but the news is as good as it gets for that issue. AND AVERY! She has a friend, Meredith. She can see Meredith's house from her bedroom...on the street behind them. Meredith is in her class at school, and is not friends with the Bully Twins Gang. I whooped out loud when I read that! Gavin's 8th birthday is tomorrow, and since it is a holiday, they are going to go on a hike/picnic. He gets to choose from among three. Wish I could go.

POURING rain here again. Looks like 3 or 4 more days of it, but Dave already scheduled golf for us Thursday when it is supposed to improve.

Chris, glad you had a nice time with your mom, and that you're feeling better...more energy. Enjoy the respite! I used to have a Wilton tackle box! Never had that kind of disaster, but I got over the cake-decorating phase. LOL

I so envy all you gardeners. I tried it off and on for years. All it got me was dirty fingers and sore knees and back. I finally decided to give the plants a break and leave them alone.

Let's ALL sleep in tomorrow! (The pool is closed, so no getting up for THAT tomorrow!)

Off to church in a few minutes.

Happy Sunday ladies!! :rain: here again today, but that's ok we got all the yard work and running around done yesterday. Had a great visit with everyone at the in-laws, had to laugh at SIL she said she is exhausted after only a few days with the grands, I told her to try it for 5-6 weeks like I do with Heather LOL. Not only do I have to chase and play with Mason, but I have to help DD do things too. She said ok you win :becky: I did not mention that after all that I had my other grands for a week. I think she needs to realize that the time with grandkids is so precious and just enjoy them!! She is very into keeping a neat and tidy everything, which is impossible with little ones around, just have fun and forget the mess!! You can clean to your hearts desire after they are gone LOL.

Chris - Glad you got to be outside again yesterday, I would have kinda freaked out about the bear being that close!! My brother has bear go through his yard a lot also, so he really has to keep an eye on the grandkids now that they are here from Australia. But the Aussies have all those horrible snakes and spiders that they have to watch out for YUCK!! Nice that you were able to spend some quality time with your Mom!! I bet she really appreciated it! Hug her often, nothing heals better than a hug!! I am happy that I gave you a AHA moment, can't say I have ever done that for anyone before :becky:

Claire - Your baskets sound lovely! I need to tend to mine also, after all this rain the petunia's are melting and will be all soggy and messy to clean up. Yuck! But I can't get that done until the rain quits and the sun comes out again, who knows when that might be, it could be next May before that happens LOL. We have weather much like England, lots of rain usually, but this summer was unusually hot and dry!!

Shar - Well I did a big old happy dance when I read your news about Avery!!! How wonderful that she has a friend and someone to connect with!! How great that she lives so close too! I hope it turns into a wonderful friendship that lasts for years to come! Great news about Erik also, a good day for your family!! :cheer2:

Today we are having my brother and SIL and the Aussie's for a visit and supper, lasagna is on the menu as I know the kids really like it. Now what to serve for desert?? We normally do not do desert, but with the little ones here it might be fun to have. Then tomorrow DH and I are going on a drive to Port Renfrew and doing the loop.
http://www.hellobc.com/driving-routes/19/pacific-marine-circle-route.aspx
Lots of huge trees and great things to see. Looking forward to a day together.

Thanks for dancing with me girls. I'm still grinning!

Claire your flowers are gorgeous. I'm in awe.

Trudy I so want to do that drive. Maybe I could convince Cpt. Romance to do it if it had a golf course or two to play along the way. ;) I think he balks because it is so expensive for us just to get to Vancouver Island.

Mocha time.
