Well, Party Day is here whether I am ready for it or not. I think I am pretty good to go. I was able to get most of the food ready, 2 cards made and printed. The cookies are all wrapped and ready to gift. Gary is going to run the vac today and the house should look nice.

Cait and I ran to the store yesterday to pick up some soda and chips. We popped into the liquor store on the way home b/c she is still interested in my opinions on what alcohol she would like. Heck- as I have said before, I drink wine from a box, what do I know?
However, we had a blast ready the names of different vodkas and craft brews. The IPA names were seriously hysterical. One was #adulting, another #ILOVELAMP. A whiskey was Firecrotch... I mean, who thinks of these things? Definitely marketed to and by Millenials and Gen Z.
There was one that had an adorable Bee on the label and its name was Bee-Otch. If Cait drank whisky, I would have had to buy it for her. She took a picture of it instead. (Cait's nickname is Baby Bee and I am Mama Bee, with the Bee standing in for B**** but meant in a loving way)

I should wrap this up since I still have a bunch of stuff to do-- and I want to make sure I have time to put myself together before everyone gets here. (Who has the duct tape??? )

Have a fantastic day/weekend!!!

Jean- hope that you were able to warm up a bit. I was much warmer out in the sun than in my house too. I find free patterns on Ravelry.com. They have everything. If I am crocheting something for myself that is sort of mindless like the cowl I made last year, it is non-stressful. But to give myself 2 weeks to make them with all of the other things going on in my life- that was kind of stupid and stressful. In other words- all "me." ha!
ITA-- your gallery would have to have Kay's artwork in there too.

Trudy- I saw the pic of the hail at your house on FB- how crazy! I hope there was no damage to anything. Your day sounds wonderful and crafty. I hope that you are all set to run the errands that I am sure your Gary will take you on today. ;)
The offer to give her a discount on a piece might be a good middle ground if you aren't comfortable having her in your house which I understand.

Kay- The Mini-Os are gorgeous as always! So awesome that you were able to spend some time making a few LOs with them. Were you able to get the mouse and keyboard fixed?

Felis- glad to hear that your eye is better. Don't push it though so it takes longer to heal.
Yes, there are so many positive things with social media but I guess - as with anything- if you are susceptible to depression/anger/violence, it can be amplified. When I was in full-blown anorexia but wanting to get better, there were so many Ana-Mia forums that shared how to be a "better" anorexic/bulimic. And since eating disorders can be very competitive, I had to make a really conscious effort to stay away. But so can the good things-- look at the Climate Protests started by Greta Thunberg. Without SM, I don't think that the protests would have attracted soooooo many people.
Thank you so much for your offer for the cards-- you are so sweet!! Again, you are right, my family loves the personal ones that I make for them and it makes me happy when I think of them as I make them.

Now I really need to sign off... The deviled eggs are calling me to make them LOL
xoxo!

It did warm up inside and out yesterday, so all was good. Today is supposed to be warmish and humid, but was only 68 outside when I got up. Boring day doing laundry :washing: and DH watching college football, but artwork calls too.

Chris, I know the party will be fun and everyone will enjoy. The crochet with deadlines probably is a different animal and that makes sense. Hope you relax and have fun today!

Felis, so good to have you back in the Daily Ooo's. Hope the eye is good as new. The time spent outdoors sounds just the thing for you. I have to say that store-bought cards can be great. When I was sick I got a number, one totally adorable and all with birds and/or flowers. I was so moved that people cared, but the really nice thing was some were from groups and signed by everyone. Sometimes I've bought a card because it just spoke to me of the person it was for. But...for my DH I always make his cards. And he saves them. Hope you get back into the 52 weeks. I still owe two for weeks 35 and 36 from last year. I'd better get going on them as the next one due is for Oct. 7-13 which will be here soon.

Kay, hope you've got the mouse/keyboard set up and working. What a pain to have the old one quit while working on a LO. Have to check out the Mini Os. Just realized last night late that it was the 4th Friday.

Trudy, nice to have a good day outside instead of rain, except that you're really appreciating the rain these days. Your idea to offer a discount instead of teaching might be just the thing. Hope you try it. If she wants something she created herself, might not work, but it was a great compliment in any event.

Have a good one everybody!

good day - got Luther out for a good walk and it was beautiful with blue skies and cool temps. Came home and now I have done nothing much and I should be doing chores cut I am instead watching a old movie. My hockey team did great for their last game and my goalie had a shut out. Even saying they had a shut out the defense needs to be a better as they gave up a lot of shot attempts. But on a cool note my captain Andy Greene who is an alumni of Miami of Ohio was elected in their Hall of Fame. Turns out that can only happen if you graduate. It took him 10 years to get his degree but he did. How awesome is that. Now I have until Wed for the regular season to start and Friday for the Devils season to start. Baseball playoffs start next week too!

Chris have a great time at the party! Congrats on sounding pretty relaxed!

Jean we warmed up too. My sister in AZ said that our temps are pretty close to theirs. Now that is weird but it won't last long as I see 60s are highs in the long weather view. Have fun with art work! As they say though a passion is never work.

Waving to all have a great weekend.

Really late checking in today.... busy from the time I woke up until now. Yes, I got the new keyboard/mouse installed. Forgot and plugged the USB key in before turning the computer on... and the mouse was going wonky when I was trying to use it. Then the lightbulb went off... Removed the USB key then reinserted it and TA-DAH... the computer recognized it! DUH!!! Now it is working like it should. Just glad I had already bought it and was able to swap it out quickly when the mouse gave up the ghost!!!!

Spent yesterday afternoon moving furniture around in the family room. And got the room cleaned while I was at it. Emptied the vacuum and boy what a difference it made when I used it. I have 2 large over-stuffed recliners in imitation leather that have started splitting in small areas. We bought them 4 years ago for Bill as he was 6' tall and needed a larger recliner. I am giving them away to a charity and they said they could repair them. I still have 2 smaller leather recliners (they are my size) that are still is great shape - and they are over 10 years old! The big recliners will be picked up mid-October. I moved the big recliners nearer the door to the patio as that is how they need to be taken out of the house. Also wanted to get use to using the smaller recliners again. Once the big ones are gone I can move my chord organ over to where the recliners were. Should make the room look much larger.

Then this morning, DD#1 and her hubby came over to pick up my aunt's desk/chair [from my master bedroom]. DGDaughter wants it so DD#1 will take it to her next week. Had them move the reclining cycle from the family room to the master bedroom [where the desk used to be]. Now if I could only sell DH's bowflex and the treadmill, I would have most of the 'excess' stuff gone! I need to put them in the FB sales forum one of these days.

Was talking to DD#1's hubby about wanting to start using my hubby's computer as it is 5 years newer than 'mine' and has the new graphics card so I might be able to run some of the newer photo editing software. He said he could "mirror" my computer and transfer it to DH's newer computer. Told him that would be great if he could do that for me. Will have to wait until after we get back from visiting Son#1 in November. After that I think I will move from my craft room into DH's office as it has the modem and direct line so I could take down the wire we had to run from the office to my craft room. Due to the walls between office and craft room, we couldn't get a good wireless connection even with a booster.

DD#1 stayed for a longer visit while her hubby went to run errands. I took her home then ran over to the pharmacy and got my Flu shot. Glad I got it in my left arm as the arm is sore now. I took a OTC pain pill as the shoulder is aching enough that I had to slip the bra strap off of it. Feel like I am running a slight fever now... which is typical when I get the flu shot. The pharmacist was remarking that they have been really busy giving the shots today. Told her that the local news had a blurb on it last night - saying it might be a bad year for the flu. Guess a lot of people heard the report.

I am doing some of the laundry today... opps... there goes the signal on the dryer. CYL

Ok, because my life is so much interesting LOL and today I'm doing mostly sunbathing and gardening. Can we pretend that I'm not skip whole week and to tell you about my visit at theater  previous week! It's the second time I went this year, after I wasn't visited any plays few years. So I'm very happy and thrilled! At new job of my mom has team building event and they got the tickets, and everyone can come with one family member. She actually dislike her new coworkers, so takes me for back up, as lured me with a promise for good seats. The truth is that we was on the last row (fortunately at small saloon) and I couldn't see the faces of the actors, and the face expression is so much at theater! I was upset and cranky as she excellent know my eye problems, so I fast get at arrogant mood and I made a critical remark to some lady near to us who was made bustle around her friends, which is so inappropriate in theater. Ta-da, this was been one of these colleague with which my mom is in bad relationship already, so the team building was totally fiasco and the atmosphere get really tense. In bonus the play was political satire, my less favorite.
But all that it doesn't matter! Was playing famous actress which I like a lot from the night TV series. And the expression that these people are able to create only with their body, face and voice is pure pleasure! Not many scenery and no special effects, only acting! Really really nice to watch it!

Chris, have fun on the party! Relax and enjoy!
I understand what you mean about this forums (I think here they call themselves Pro Ana), but this is benefits of the freedom of speech. Some dangerous ideas can be present, but this again give to the people who believe in them satisfaction of being in group. And everybody is free to join or go to the opposite idea. I can't be concrete about eating disorders, as I'm not educated enough about them. I'm talk only once with one Ana chick, and she definitely not tries to attract me, even after she ask did I'm interest, she was way more responsive than christians which always come to 'fix' people who shares different ideas online. Sorry if your experiences with the social media was bad!

Jean, my mom always tell us to buy cards when we see something cute on sale. This is why I have these empty cards, which will or will not use, because I usually don't give cards. Yes I'm almost ready with next 52 just have to add text. Quiet weekend is the best, aren't they?

Nancy, how stimulating for the young people to to see how force the celebrities to graduate! Hope this to inspire the fans. We have one very popular and rich rap singer here, which now is decided to get degree, and he spoke for the mistakes of youth, and try to encourage kids to stay at school.

Kay, my big admiration for you! I just couldn't get away from old stuff, if something is cracked or not functional I first put them at the cat house, and postpone before it's fall apart. I don't like this, it's a result of upbringing from my very thrifty grandma! It's really refreshing for the energy to get everything out and then to rearrange your space. I hope you are satisfied from the results! But it's sounds as a lot of work, hope that your muscles don't hurts, after all that cleaning!

Happy Sunday!! I am happy to have had a very successful party! The food, the company, the wine-- all 100%.

At 9.30 am, I was not sure if I was going to be able to pull it off. I was starting to do some dishes and get the kitchen ready to do all of the last-minute food prep before I got into the shower. Then- Boom! Everything went dark and quiet. (Other than the annoying beeping that happens when we have a power failure but that is a different complaint LOL). A transformer blew just a few hours before I was going to have a house full of people. Sure, why not? I was really feeling like I had it all under control, so *of course,* the Universe had to play with me a bit. :pound: Only Gary had showered and I had a fridge full of food that needed to be cooked in my electric oven. The electric company's website gave the restoration time as 1.41 pm, a mere 19 minutes before the party started.

I started to get things prepped for that case if I had no power and Gary was able to put the generator on so we could all take quick showers. We had Scott's camp stove to boil water and my brother was going to bring up Sterno trays with the food that we had catered. We had plenty of food that didn't need to be heated and would get some more chips and dip if we had to. I wasn't able to make the rest of the cards designed and printed but I had some blank ones. All set and honestly, I was laughing at it all. The t-shirt I wore was a cat's face and the words-- "Are you Kitten me?" hahaha!!
Thankfully, the power came on a little after noon so I was able to get the food cooked before everyone got here.

Everyone*loved* the pumpkins. Leah saw them and said that they were so cute and had seen some in a store and wanted to get one. My SIL who is super-crafty herself told me that she wanted to take a picture of them to show her friend who crochets. She was thrilled that I had made them for everyone. MIL loved how they smelled.

I have a bit of cleaning up today but nothing else huge to do. I would love to do some scrapping this afternoon.
I also want to talk to my mom. I have a hare-brained scheme to go down the shore next week. It is supposed to be in the 80s this Wednesday and my brother's wife suggested we go down for the day. I don't think she is ready for a full day like that and the heat and humidity will be hard on her ankles swelling. I checked the weather this morning and as of right now, it is supposed to be sunny and 70's later next week. I am thinking that maybe we go down in the morning, take it easy and sit on the boardwalk. The place that we used to stay at has a 20% off discount if you book and stay the same day. So even if the less expensive rooms are taken, we could afford one night in one of the more expensive rooms. I want to have her check with the Drs and make sure that she is stable enough with her blood pressure to do that. Might be good for her to see the ocean, I know it always helps me.

Hugs to all of you!

My kitchen is calling me-- so these will be quick. Sorry!

Jean- did it ever warm up, it got hot here. Hope that you were able to be very artsy!

Nancy- some days you just have to kick back and chill in front of the TV. Very cool for Andy Greene!

Kay- too funny about the USB, but good for you figuring out so fast

Good job finding homes for the recliners, and that would be great for your SIL to help with the computer, Really sounds like you are getting so much accomplished

Felis- I am so jealous- sunbathing and gardening is my kind of day!
whoops! The theater experience sounds really like it was a fiasco- but very neat that you got you see an actress that you like

Thinking of all of you!

good day! Well had Luther out for an extra long walk and it was beautiful fall day. Cool with some clouds but now it is clear blue skies. My son is at the grocery store to buy dinner as he wants prime rib. Not my fav but the boys love it. Watching hockey from Germany. Hard to believe that just a year ago my Devils were in Sweden and so was I. This year the two teams are the Blackhawks and the Fliers. My front steps are falling apart and today a mason stopped by to give an estimate. So it should be done soon think goodness. Got all my blocks done for my first month for my afghan. Now still have to finish up Alaska pages. Only 3 more to do so while watching hockey I get that started.

Chris so happy the party went well. Why would a transformer blow when we have been having such amazing weather. I always think they should blow in bad weather - glad that it was fixed so fast and all food cooked. I think those pumpkins were so cute so I am not surprised that every one else loved them. Enjoy a relaxing day today! I hope you get to the shore Tuesday and Wednesday should be way above normal. You both deserve the escape!

Jean hope it warmed up! Glad you are loving the new art.

Kay it is so nice that you have places for all the excess furniture. Glad you figured out the computer glitch. So nice when it finally all works together. Nice to have a SIL that knows the computer and can get you set up.

Felis sunbathing! That sounds nice. Enjoy. Sorry the trip to the theater did not go as planned. Not fun. But you got to see an actress you like so that is super.

Have a great day all!

Good morning girls,
I feels so sleepy, I guess the last day of month I can afford to be a little lazy?! On today's morning dog walk I feels too dressed up with my thermal sweater and that promises warm day. The Walnut trees had only few yellow leaves, but this weekend we wake up with half yellow walnut, autumn start to shows it's beauty!

Chris, the party sounds awesome! And all troubles with the transformer during prepare will make it only more remarkable. I would love this t-shirt! I almost always wear blouse with animal (or in animal print), but my sister is this with a t-shirts with funny messages. Which reminds me Pina colada is a cream cocktail that Cait may like! Oh and you mentioned box of wine few times, I left with impression that it's not much OK in your area, but this confuse me?! As here winery put the same wine in bottles and boxes as it's first made in wine barrels. So if you'll opened it immediately, and especially for party boxes are pretty unusual, bottles are more for gift or for collection for matured wine. Fingers crossed this time your vacation escape to happens!

Nancy, yes, it's crazy how fast the times fly! At least you have new travel on the horizon! Hope the front steps repair to happen easy and quick! Great job with the afghan blocks, this is so smart project, I bet you'll love the result!

One last thing before to close my theater trip story. We met two girls, about 16 -17, very charm and smart young ladies, but it was weird to watch their behavior: speak imitating Ariana Grande, you know, this rap diva deep voice, finger who drawing at the air, and etc. which probably is popular at the pop culture now, wich isn't big deal as we was doing far more strange things. But some annoying detail is that they think call others 'girl', is offensive because mention gender, but have no problem to use the b*** word as a public addresses?! Other thing that probably won't happen at your area, is that they put at the speech many words from other language. And I don't mean words that don't have equivalent here, as Gps or with-fy, but regular words which are needless replacement, comprende? I have a few foreigner friends, so again it's not a problem, but this little b*** (sorry for the language it's just for example) is never left her city limits, so WTH, why you needs to speak like that?! Seriously, the whole their crew was acting and talk like that! I felt really really old and archaic. To be fair I have to mention, that they was actually very accurate and passionate about the theater, and if you ignore their temperament of speech, we had very interesting and productive talk about the plays on scene in diferent theaters this season. Crazy world!
