Wanna see the birthday girls?
(as if you have a choice ROTFLMAO!)
20210917_133636.jpg

Caitlyn made them little "cakes" - a cracker, layered with slices of banana and hard-boiled egg, with a bit of peanut butter and applesauce, topped with a yogi. She had to feel it to them on her bed so the bratty babies didn't steal them from the defenseless old ladies.
They are the sweetest girls. <3

I am almost finished with the gnomes. I glued on their noses and they look pretty cute. Not as nice as the ones I saw on Pinterest but I wouldn't call them a Pinterest Fail. Caitlyn and Gary think they look great so I should listen to them, but my internal voice won't let me. Not entirely. :D
I have to clean them up today, get all of the hot glue strings and "fur-lint" off of them, and then I will take some pictures to show you.

I chatted with my mom, she is still worried about my dad's forgetfulness. He had taken her to the hospital for some tests (she is finally seeing a cardiac valve surgeon- just for a consult but it is a start) and he forgot the exit he needed to take and then walked right past her in the lobby. He seems sharp as anything whenever I see him, but it has me worried too. Not that I am one to all, my brain cannot seem to keep anything straight. Thankfully, it isn't the same as Lyme Brain Fog. that *feels* very different. Did I tell you that Gary came off of abx a few weeks ago? His LLMD wanted him to take a break and by the second week, we could see a decline in him. This week was not a decline, it was an extreme drop and he is back on them again. You would think after 14 years of this, he would be able to get better. :(

I have some things on my list today but I should focus on getting some more things written down. The party is going to be here before I know it and it will be two full years since I had family up here. It shows. LOL

Wishing everyone a very happy day!

@tanteva glad you had a nice time with your friend, even though it was not the best circumstances for her.
I hope the job stuff gets sorted out before you go back, will it put you in a difficult spot if it isn't? What was the verdict on the spicy soup?

@mywisecrafts That sounds like me and my DD- she was always so dramatic at that age and I had a low tolerance for it.
hahah!!! We all see through @Cherylndesigns , don't we?
How did the housecleaning party go?

@taxed4ever How is Heather? Is the travel stuff working out for her? Are both boys in school full time now? All my fingers are crossed that the schools stay healthy and open.
Wow!! Your sign came out amazing! It will look awesome wherever you put it.

Eva- you laugh but I have a DD that is just like me and a DS who is a Mini-Gary!! Gah!!!!!

@felis How funny about your name-- I like that-- a sarcastic cat :D
It feels like the end of summer here too. Once the sun gets weaker, my house takes much longer to warm up and the trees make it darker. I would recommend the book that I just finished that Eva recommended but it was 600 pages. But it reads very quickly- I finished in 2 weeks. It is The Circle, and Eva will have to remind me of the authors. There are two more in the series and I can't wait to start them.
My dogs must have been freaked out by the wind and rain. Caitlyn said that Jaida was upstairs with her which is unusual but I don't remember where Whisky was, I was probably still half asleep when I got out of bed.
I agree, I think that getting away for a few days will be good for Scott and Leah as much as they felt bad for leaving their best friends. They need to recharge themselves emotionally so when they get back they can continue to help Sam and Ian since the grief won't end for them for a long time.

@nancyr I had missed hearing about Luther too, but wow, I am really happy to see you back here. You are going to be in heaven, scrapping and watching the Devils. Will you be going to games this season? I hope so- any idea if they are making vax requirements or masking indoors?

Better sign off! I've got a to-do list to work on!

I hope the job stuff gets sorted out before you go back, will it put you in a difficult spot if it isn't? What was the verdict on the spicy soup?

It depends how things evolve I guess. Thing is, the co-worker said something really bad (derrogative (sp?) and racist) about another temp - I was the only one who heard it. I got so shocked, and another coworked saw I was upset, and asked what was going on. I told her, and she in turn told the boss. This turns out to not be the first time this coworker done stupid things, so in a way, this might be the tipping point. Depending on what happens to this coworker, she might blame me, since I was the only one who heard what she said. (Gee, this really sounds like high school drama! Why don't people just grow the eff up?!??)

Anyway, I feel noone else is blaming me, and if it gets worse in any way - I'll just quit working. I love it, and extra money is nice, but we've lived on one income for 12 years, we can go back to that. It's nice in a way, that I have that freedom. I don't have to worry about food and living expenses, and be totally depending on having the job, if you get what I mean. Also, since my mental health is way better than before - I can just let it be, and not take it personally. Having said that, I do worry that the person will confront me in some way, if she feels I'm to blame for the fact that her shitty behaviour puts her in trouble. (And what I worry about most is how I would react to that. I can have a very sharp tongue if someone gets me angry enough.)

Soup was HOT. I didn't finish mine even though I added some sour cream to make it milder. It was yummy - a creamy tomato soup - but too much habanero LOL

We started on Sopranos yesterday. Well, restarted really, cuz we've seen the first 2 (or 3?) seasons before, but that was long ago. Not sure why we didn't finish it then, but something made us stop, even though we both think it's a really great show. Might just have been that I was not feeling well. I think it was just around the time when I was at my worst with anxiety, agora phobia and all that other fun things I used to enjoy myself with ;)

Good Saturday morning everyone! We got a huge downpour all day and night and now the sun is out and air smells so fresh!! I love the Autumn, but sad to see the warm summer days end! I actually got a layout completed yesterday and will have to get it uploaded to the gallery this morning. Not too much on our agenda today, its probably too wet out there to get any yard work done, but I am sure my DH will have some errands for us to run. Oh I forgot we are supposed to start working on the fireplace re-do this weekend. I wonder if he will remember LOL. Got my door sign placed on the front door and it looks really good! I thought the colours would blend in together too much, but it stands out really well! Even DH likes it. I think I will have to make another for Christmas and perhaps one for Halloween? Oh dear more stuff to store in the crawl space LOL. I had a lovely visit with my Sister when she brought my pumpkins to the house. I just love them! She has made so many that she is sick of making them, but they are selling like hot cakes! She even made a bunch of white ones for a lady for her wedding! They will be part of her table centre decorations and gifts for the guests. She is only having fifty guests (covid rules) so Pam made 50 for her, no wonder she is sick of
making them!

@faerywings - Chris that photo of the birthday girls is too cute!! I bet they loved their birthday cakes!! I can't wait to see your gnomes!! I bet they turned out amazing! Sorry that you are worried about your Dad! It really sucks to get older! I hope he was just daydreaming or something when he forgot the exit turnoff and heck my DH will walk right past me too, even when I am only a couple of feet away from him LOL. He is looking so hard for me that doesn't see me o_O . Heather is doing well, thanks for asking! She has not had much business with the travel thing yet, but then there really aren't that many people travelling in Canada, Covid is getting worse and the U.S. border is still closed to us Canadians, well to drive over anyways. People are afraid to travel and I know I certainly would not be getting on a Cruise ship right now LOL. Alberta has declared a state of emergency because they have the lowest rate for vaccination and the hospitals are filled to the brim with Covid patients! Dumb asses!! Opps did I just say that LOL.

@tanteva - Eva I sure hope that things go ok when you return to work, good for you for not letting it bother you though, there is no place for behaviour like that in the workplace or anywhere these days! Ya we are getting too old for high school drama LOL I sure don't miss the drama from work! I always liked working with men, they are so much less dramatic then women LOL. Hope you enjoy the Sapranos, I have never seen it but I know that they won lots of awards!

@nancyr - Nancy I bet you are excited to get going again with hockey!! I think my DH is missing it too! How nice to get your hair done and have a nice quiet day to yourself!

@felis - The pumpkins are knitted, but I bet there is a pattern out there somewhere for crocheting these also! Nice that the cats are enjoying the last of the warm sunshine! I love the meaning of your name!!

Well better get some breakfast and get going with the day! Have a lovely Saturday everyone!

Good morning all. I'm able to type on my laptop today. I'm SO much better already, but it HAS been a week since my fall. I can feel the strength coming back ever so slightly each day. As long as I keep my "halter" on and my sling, and keep my arm propped up with a towel, I can type again. It's quite a production - Chuck had to learn how to put my halter on - Adrienne was coming down every morning and doing it. It really helps and it keeps my shoulders pulled back into the position the doctor wants them in. The shoulder straps are super padded, so it doesn't dig in and my sling is also super padded.

I've loved reading all of your comments today - Eva @tanteva sorry you're having issues at work. Like you said, you can always leave. I'm glad I don't have to deal with people anymore IRL jobs. I love my girlies here and on a couple of other boards - I so enjoy these chats, even though I've been kind of in and out.

Oh, Chris @faerywings the cleaning experience was wonderful. Three of them came in and had the house done in about an hour. They're coming back in 2 weeks and Ava was here when they were here, so they're going to clean her house too next time. They'll clean for all 3 of us. Those little cakes are adorable and so are the birthday girls. Insert heart emojis.

Trudy @taxed4ever your fall makeover sounds wonderful and I adore those little pumpkins. I have one knitted orange one that my dd found in a store, but I'd love to have a bunch of these. I love white pumpkins - I bought some real ones for my front porch last year.

Hugs all around and waving to all and everybody to come later.

good afternoon - well today is gorgeous - sunny and in the 80s. Perfect for me. It also looks like it will be dry for the next several days. Today we found a new park to walk Luther. It seems funny to live in an area for so long and still find some place new to walk. It was had a nice open space, parts in a forest and a pond and creek. Saw an egret and lots of blue jays. Also one of those spotted lantern flies, Just as I went to stomp on it it flew off. So mad! My DH made us popcorn to watch TV - he can be so nice. I am making a peanut curry chicken dish.

@faerywings Chris thanks for sharing that photo so cute! I can't wait to see the finish gnomes. They must have been fun to make. Never compare anything to Pinterest! Sorry to hear about the forgetfulness of your father.

@tanteva Eva I am glad you stood up for yourself and that your boss learned of the remarks. I hope that by now remarks like what you heard would not be tolerated. I hate confrontation so I totally understand why you do not want to see this person. I am cheering for you. Having fun watching the Sopranos.

@taxed4ever Trudy how nice to talk to your sister. I love talking to my sister. We have talk each Friday. Those pumpkins are so cute! I bet they look terrific on the tables as centerpieces. And yes it seems that hockey players and the NHL are almost 99% vaccinated. I have not heard what the arena for the Devils is doing but I will be wearing a mask.

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl congrats on using the laptop. Glad that they harness is working so well.

Waving!

Happy Sunday to all of you! It is so cold in my house, I don't know why I don't throw some sweatpants on other than I am too cold to get up and get them. Yesterday was pretty warm and humid so we left all of the windows open overnight. Now I regret that. oops

I am so grateful for my to-do list even though I didn't get everything finished. My day got sidetracked but I didn't feel lost. That made me really happy. And yes, I am totally pumping myself up so I stick with it. *G*
Cait and I drove to the FP but they switched the date to next Saturday. We were halfway to a Dollar Store so we decided to drive there and poke around. Caitlyn wants me to make her a gnome too, but I needed more of the floral foam. They didn't have any but there is a Petco next door. She asked if we had time to go there and I joked- absolutely not. She knows I am a sucker for the small mammals so we watched the baby ferrets play. They were scuffling non-stop for a really long time and we were laughing so hard at them. The way ferrets move, they look like they have no bones, they are fuzzy Slinkies.
On the way home, we stopped at the local Dollar General to look for the foam, still no luck but we (somehow! Haha!) ended up at the liquor store and picked up a couple of bottles of cheap alcohol.
We were home for a few minutes when Gary's parents called to say they were on their way up to drop off some insulin (they were in Canada and it is insane how much cheaper it is so they pick some up for him when they visit their friends there). I looked around and the gnomes and materials were all over so I had to quickly pack that all away and get in the shower before they got here. We had a nice visit, even if they were making fun of our cheap alcohol choices.

In spite of all that, I still was able to get few things done from the list and the rest of it can get taken care of today. My goal is to get that stuff finished early and then go and work in the backyard this afternoon. I won't know if we are having the party outside or not but this will at least give me a head start on cleaning up/clearing out for fall as it is.

Have a fantastic and relaxing day

@tanteva eep. That is not good about the coworker, she does not sound like a very nice person. I hope that none of this comes back on you but you have a good perspective on it. And ITA, not worth getting upset or angry over but how the heck can we control our mouths when they deserve it? Just sayin'
Sorry that the soup was too spicy for you but sounds like Urban liked it, or well enough to know better than to say anything bad about it to you. (I would be! LOL)

@taxed4ever I saw the photo of the sign on FB, it really looks so nice. You have such a good eye for color. I am sad about the shorter days and cooler temps. The one thing I do enjoy with Fall is the food. It is nice to make stuff in the oven again. Especially baking desserts.
Hope that your Gary remembered the fireplace re-do.
The pumpkins are toooo cute! Your family is really talented and crafty.
I am sorry but it sounds ridiculous that the US border is closed to Canadians. I think it should be the other way around, you don't want our cooties. Hopefully, this will be over sooner than later and Heather can get going on the travel stuff.

@Cherylndesigns Does it feel good to be on the laptop over the phone today? Don't you DARE overdo it, missy! You do not want me grabbing Ava and coming to have a chat with you *wink* The sling you have sounds similar to what my dad had after his shoulder replacement. Be careful walking around tight corners. I know he bumped into things often.

@nancyr It was such a nice day yesterday, it is going to be sunny but cooler/less humid today up here.
Oh no!!! We have been getting lantern fly sighting up here as well. I haven't seen any myself but I would be trying to stomp on them too. Did you contact the county? I think you are supposed to do that so they can track where they are. It is too bad b/c they look really cool. Have fun walking Luther in the park. Is he walking better for you with the weather being cooler? I know he was giving you a little trouble in August.

Hi, gals. No, my computer with all my digi-scraping software and kits is not fixed yet. Son-in-law#1 and DD#1 will be here today. I will have SiL take a look at it and hope he can get a monitor to work with it. So frustrating to not have either monitor work with the tower. Several times in the past, I have unhooked the tower/monitor to take the tower in for servicing then hooked it all back up with no problems. I know it is not the monitor cable as each of the 2 monitors I tried have their own cable... thinking it might be the cable connection on the tower. There is another type of connector on the monitors and the tower but there are a gazillion cables of that type so will wait and have SiL get the correct cable if he thinks that is the problem. This makes me realize that I have to get my scrapping stuff moved onto DH's computer ASAP. Will have to do the transfer piece-meal as there is close to 2T on the ExHD and DH's computer is only a 1TB. Will get SiL to show me how to do do that while he is here. Sure do miss having him around as my computer gaur.

No personals today... I am working on the old laptop - think 2007 - and keep making mistakes using it's small keyboard. The good news is that I got all the Movie DVDs inventory done on it... and about halfway through the VHS Tapes Movies inventory done. I hope to get my book inventory done on it sometime this fall/winter.

I'm scrapping like crazy today. Made 4 layouts so far. I really like to have a couple on hold on my hard drive, so that I have ones to post even if I have a crappy day and don't scrap.

I'm a bit tired today cuz I'm stupid. Decided not to watch another episode yesterday night, cuz it was late, and I really didn't thought I'd be up 45 more minutes. Ended up reading my book for about 2 hrs instead. LOL

Think I'm making some kind of lentil sauce thingy & pasta for dinner. Thinking I'll take that spicy soup and add some cream and a can of chopped tomatoes to dilute (delute? ... not sure of spelling) the habanero explosion.

Urban sure would say if the food wasn't ok. No problem for him like that. We're way past pretending in this relationship. LOL

Hi everyone. Life is busy, as usual. Lots of CT work, moderate desk work (thankfully) which I don't mind but as the summer has gone by, more and more I started to realize that I do want to quit next fall and be done with it. We'll figure out how to live with a little less money but have a quieter peaceful life with more free time. Maybe I'll go back to taking portraits here and there, we'll see. Maybe I'll just enjoy having all my time for myself.

I've been out to the dog park almost every day and Remi is settling down nicely. She's always going to be high energy and needs lots of attention, play and training but I've gotten into a good schedule with her and she is just so darn cute, smart and loveable that that I'm happy to give her so much of my time.

Today is scrapping, house chores, a walk in the dog park (bundled up b/c of the rain today) and later binging a few shows. Finished Big Sky and caught on on AHS and Coroner. We want to watch the ending to Why Women Kill later.

Chris - LOVE the photo!!!
Trudy - the pumpkins are so cute.

I'm getting another coffee and getting on with my day, just wanted to pop in to say hi.

Hi, girls! Rainy and lazy day! I have no idea what I did today. At some point we was cleaning the floors at the cat house (which was my grandparents house and technically now this is supposed to be my house) and my mom start to talk about painful memories that she have at this room. It's so strange, I often forgot the past hiden in that place, although I'm keeping lots of my grandma's furniture. I'm hear so many times the story how hard grandma was working and how difficult she collected all these stuffs one by one, so I'm always feel it very disrespectful to get rid of them! But I'm starting often to catch my mom in try delicate to sneaks the idea for renovation on that house. I'm not sure what is the actual motivation behind her actions, as she is so good in using her painful childhood to playing victim in many situations. And she is infuriating unsentimental type of person. I don't want to hoarder things that makes her sad, but also I can't trust her fully that she is not motivated from some superficial fashion impulse. This morning they was on shopping for new rugs, just because her friend tells her for good sale. (Don't worry, I saved the old rug and will use it at the cat house.)
So I'm confused, but also kind of considering some changes that can make this place much more brightfull and modern.

Do you have inherited any items that are not antiques and how long you keep them after their quality is not perfect anymore? Is still good, but looks old and overused. But they are still functional. Hmm!
When it isn't disrespectful to get rid of inherited stuff, in your opinion?

Chris, it's wonderful that gnomes are turned so well, you are always so critical to yourself, so I know Cait is more objective about them, BUT of course is better to show us some photos for additional opinion! ;)
What kind of of cheap alcohol? Did I was here when my family piss me off insisting instead of jam to turn all blackberries in liqueur? I think I wasn't, but sorry if I'm repeating myself. So I was thinking about you when we transforming this cheap vodka in (actually very good) home liqueur.

oh, Eva, I'm so sorry to hear that you feels so bad for something so stupid! You shouldn't expose her like that, but after all she couldn't share such a narrow-minded thinking to someone that not trust fully. Lots of people still can't get it that the freedom of speech died when the tolerant behavior become norm. But If you quit your job she win. You should demonstrate resilience and dominance, your husband work there, the other coworkers likes you more than her, use your positions!

Trudy, these pumpkins are adorable, absolutely can see why she sell them so well! I don't know about you, but I'm so excited to see before and after for this fireplace re-do!

Nancy, it's awesome that Luther likes to inspect new places. Tiny is so stubborn, se refuse to ''do her business'' anywhere except on her own park, and even on concrete place of it. It was with limited access for few weeks this summer and it was such a headache. Now when the hot is gone I think it would be nice to get back to field walks again, but will see what she will decide.

Cheryl, nice to hear that you're better!

Kay, all this with the computer sounds very frustrating, fingers crossed that it's something that a new cable will resolve!

Rae, my dad was so impatient to get retired, but then after finishing of few repair projects at our home he get bored and now is on part time job. It really depends on what type of person you are. I hate that I have to work, but the tradwife movement is never exist in a wonderful victorian way of Jane Austen's books at my area!
And nothing is permanent, so try and see, before to figure out what will be your final decision.

Hello lovelies. I went out for the first time today. Adrienne and Ava and I went into town. It was serendipity - we were driving along and saw all these office chairs sitting in the parking lot in front of a store. I need one and Braden did too, so we turned around and went back. I found a small one, with arms, on rollers and we found a big one for Braden. Braden's going up there later on and pick everything up with his truck. Adrienne bought a couple of other things, too.

LOL Chris @faerywings Ava was here and I read your message to her. She told me to tell you that they're taking good care of me but she'd love for you to come out anytime! I also showed her Gary's FB with all of the skeletons. She LOVED them. She brought me my little cowboy skeleton - I'll take a picture of him and you can help me name him.

Kay @BrightEyes you've sure gotten a lot done. I hope your SIL can fix your computer issues.

Now I'm tired, but don't feel like laying down. I'm going to ice my shoulder and then see if I can find a page to scrap.

Hugs to all.

good evening - had another good walk with Luther. It still amazes me how much power water has. We went to the Rahway River Park and even though the creek is back to it normal level you can still see all the damage done when the water over flowed. There were geese on the grass and mallards in the stream. I really feel that fall is coming with the geese returning.

@faerywings Chris sorry the FB no open but sweet that Cait wants her own gnome. Your to do list sounds fun. You get to take off some that are done and then add new ones. A never ending reason to get up every morning LOL but to end each night feeling accomplished.

Hey Kay I hate it when there are problems with computers! Good luck with family comes - sure hope they fix the problem.

@tanteva Eva I too scrapped today. Congrats on all the pages. I don't think I can google skeleton names.

@felis felis I am still angry at my mom who sold my antique desk and marble top end table. If she needed the money I could have bought them. My mom died many years ago and yet it still makes me angry. I know I should not think that things matter but it not the things it is who also loved them. I do have many antiques from my mom and grandparents and further back. And for me I don't care that some of them are slightly used because that means they were loved. In the US things are not that old as compared you in Europe. But I still love them. It is up to you to decided if you love them and want them.

@bcgal00 Rae you sounds as busy as ever! I see you pages in IG - amazing as always.

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl I am so glad you got out! and found chairs. Awesome karma!

My mom throw away so much of my toys from when I was a kid. So many memories gone. This has made me sort of over compensating I guess. I've kept EVERYTHING of John's stuff. We have a huge closet full of all his toys. Even the empty LEGO boxes cuz he wanted to keep them because of all the pictures on them. Yes - we have a box full of empty boxes. LOL Guess you can go crazy in many ways. :)
