Good morning and Happy Halloween!
OK, there is it, it is all I got this morning. I am wiped out and not feelin' it today. Yesterday was rough. I went to make sure that Caitlyn was out of bed (she has a huge midterm paper due on Monday and she is stressing over it), so I knocked on her door, stopped at the rats' cage to say good morning. I checked to make sure that Cordelia and Olivia were all good, said "hoi" to Evie and Imogene. I commented that Imogene was sleeping hard, usually she hears my voice and knows she is getting Cheerios so she comes running. She woke up, looked around, went back to sleep. I chatted with Caitlyn for a minute, went back to the cage to give them their treats and Imogene was lying on the floor of the cage, very "flat" She was moving and walking a bit, but not very well, you could see that she was suddenly very weak. Caitlyn scooped her up, checked her out, and saw that her tail, ears, and feet were so pale. She called the vet hoping to get her squeezed in but while we were waiting for a call back, she died.
We have no idea what happened to her, she was absolutely fine the day before. I had been up to check on them several times while Cait was at school, gave them bits of apple and Cheerios. They were all good when Cait went to bed. So maybe a stroke? It was just incredibly sudden. We have been so concerned about Liv and Dilly, never expected anything to happen to Imogene. I know you know how much those rats mean to Caitlyn.
Scott was awesome, he went and dug a hole and we did a little ceremony. My goodness, I have to say whenever we sell this house and the next people want to plant anything they are going to think we are monsters. We have 9 rats and 3 cats buried in our yard. They are all in boxes and wrapped in blankets/cloth so hopefully, they will recognize we weren't killing them for fun. It was weird, Caitlyn had taken out the bee cloth that she uses to wrap the rats in, knowing that she will need it for the big girls soon. Bees are a symbol that we use - I am Mama B**** (MB) she is Baby B (BB) so we use bee emojis when we text and our matching tattoos have a bee in them.
So anyway. That was most of my day and I wasn't in the best mood to begin with.
It is raining and it's going to be a mess taking Jaida to the town's rabies clinic. On the bright side, it is better this year than the last time I took her. It was freezing and pouring *buckets* and I had to take J and Ray- thankfully, Scott came with me. We also had my ILs 50th wedding anniversary party that we were throwing them and as soon as I got home, I needed to shower and get dressed and then head down there to help set up. This time I am able to come home and shower and get back into my pajamas if I want. MUCH better!
Wishing all of you a fantastic day!
