It's the weekend!!
Was I able to sleep past 5 am? Nope, not even close. I woke up around 4.30 and that was that. Pfft. Got out of bed when I heard the coffee pot beep at the end of the brewing cycle. :coffee1:

I cleaned and cooked almost the entire day, so you'd think I would be able to sleep a little longer. But nahhhhh....

The bedroom is all tidy and dusted and thankfully, it looks less cluttered. I still have the bags of clothes stacked up but I recently got a card in the mail for donation collection. I am going to check what dates are available and set that up.
I am *sure* I have said it before but I'll say it again- I adore Sam. :lovey3: I texted her to ask if it was ok if I scheduled Jaida's surgery on a day she will be there. Of course, she said yes. Then she went ahead, booked the surgery and the pre-op bloodwork, and we are all set.

I made an incredible dinner last night. On paper, it sounds a little "granola" to me: roasted Brussels sprouts and butternut squash, quinoa, and kale. I added some of the roasted lentils for some crunch. Oooh boy, it was delicious! I decided that roasted Brussels sprouts are officially my favorite vegetable. Who would have thought? *G*

Since I am not working today, I am going to head to the FP. I am expecting it to be packed today, with the news that SNAP benefits are running out next week. As long as I have nothing else to do here, I'll be fine. If I needed to get to work, I would be stressed. Maybe I'll bring a book, read in my car....

Wishing all of you an absolutely lovely day!

I have that many pages on order as a pre-order. I don't have that many done....yet! ;). I will have to wait until the 8.5x11 size is on sale to order my bike pages. Right now they are $2.39/page! YIKES! I got the 12x12's for $1.49 each, which is still quite a bit! Not sure how much the 8x8's are as I also have 50 of those on pre-order from their last sale.
Oh, that makes so much sense! I can see why you buy them up when they are on sale.
How did the dentist's appointment go?
Spending the afternoon playing Quirkle at the cabin by the fire must have been a wonderful time. Such a cozy way to relax. Electricity and coffee on the porch?? Count me in!

@LSlycord I hope you weren't too achy after changing the twins around. I remember years ago, babysitting Christopher overnight and all I could think was "I am too old for this s***!" Bwuahahahahha!!!
How was the family dinner with Syd and spaghetti?

Weight loss is the main thing. More fibers, less sugar. In my case, I'm suspecting it's my meds that's messing things up. 4 of my meds can effect the liver. We'll see what the doctor will say, but I'm jumping the gun and tackle my weight. I need to lose some any way.
Caitlyn has been sharing a ton of high-fiber/high-protein/low-carb recipes with me. Mostly vegan. If you want me to send you any of the ones I really enjoyed, LMK! You got this!
I don't know if it is still a thing or if it is available in Sweden, but my kids' Lyme doctor had them taking milk thistle extract when they were on all of the heavy-duty medications. It is said to help with liver detox. Might be something to ask your doctor about?

Good morning ladies. I am off to take Darrell shopping soon. I convinced him that he needs a pair of quick-dry pants for the trip so we'll head over to the store I always buy from that has expensive but well made outdoor gear. I know he wouldn't normally go in that store but I insisted. One good pair of those pants will last him for years. I might buy another pair of gloves too. I'm getting super excited to see the polar bears soon. What a fun trip that will be and my bestie is coming along too so that's extra fun for us, and she and Darrell get along great. He doesn't mind her traveling with us at all.
LMBO at having to convince D that he needed to go shopping. I would never be able to get Gary to go shopping (nor would I want to go either) unless it was at Home Depot. :p
I would be super excited about your trip too, and I hope that you see a ton of chunky polar bears.
We missed your birthday!!! Happy belated birthday to you!!!
:birthaydog:

Good morning. It is the weekend...I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. It feels like it is run, run, run. But so happy to be able to do it and not stress about work. Watched the twins for a couple of hours in the morning yesterday...it feels like we are starting to have a bit of a rhythm.

Tomorrow we are doing a "dinosaur lunch". None of the kids have seen the huge dinosaurs so they are coming tomorrow for lunch tomorrow and I'll give them their dinosaur grab bags. We are making a big volcano with mashed potatoes and gravy and broccoli for trees and then dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets. So Syd and I put together a menu...and we are trying a few new things. She made the grocery list and we are going to stop at the store after her dentist appointment.

Now that sounds like the perfect way to pass the time at the FP...some time with your book and no guilt about "I should be doing xxxx." I like that idea a lot!

Well, I was a little bit achy when I first woke up...some of these muscles need to get some work. :dancingelephant: The spaghetti dinner was good...as you know, I love having my girl around so we cooked together and then sat around the table visiting.

Sunday afternoon after church we are heading to my son's house in Alabama for the first half of the week. Then we will come back so Mark can work on getting electricity run to the cabin from a gas-powered generator. Then we can have coffee for our gatherings! I am loving that porch on the cabin!
Oh, electricity!!! With :coffeedrinker:! That place sounds more magical all of the time!!!

I would say that some high quality pants for the outdoors will be worth the extra expense. Pretty sure that you will have him traveling enough that he will get his money's worth!

Roasted Brussels is the ONLY way I will eat them! I tried quinoa for the first time a couple of months ago. Hey, Mikey! She liked it! ;)

Well, let's just say that the dentist will be making more money off of us in the near future to fill cavities, do a root canal on Mark, take care of a gap caused by the placement of one implant for me. That one I may put off for awhile.

I know, right! I wish I could have my sweet O friends come for a gathering!

Good morning!
CHILLY WILLY out there this morning! LOW, LOW 40's! Mark is bundled up for working in the woods today with coat and hat!

My brother works at Home Depot in KY and they are doing an in-store contest for the employees. Not sure what all is involved, but he called earlier this week and asked me if we were a Pro Xtra member and if we had a Home Depot credit card. That was a no and a no. But Mark does buy all of his power tools from them, so we told him to sign us up. Anyway, long story short, we used the temporary card information and the discount they gave us for opening an account last night and bought the wiring and outlets, etc, etc, for Mark to start running electricity for the cabin! WOOHOO! So, I'm sure that is his project to get started on today!

I'm doing laundry and will be packing for our trip to my son's in Alabama after church tomorrow. I dread the drive, but I can't wait to see my son! His mannerisms and intelligence are so much like his father's were, which I love! It makes me feel like Tim is still here with us in a big way!

OK, I need to get off of here and get busy packing! I should be able to keep in touch somewhat while I'm gone!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I'd love recipes. Whenever you get a second over, no rush.
I googled, and it's called "Mariatistel" in Swedish. It was a bit expensive, but I'll keep it in mind, if the weight loss don't work. Which it must do, since I have signed up to WW for a year, 199 SEK/month (US $21).

Blergh.
I really dislike the shorter days. Even today, when I will be outside for a few hours, I can't seem to rev my mood up. I slept well, so at least there is that. But it is soooo darrrrkkkk.
:bawling:

Yesterday felt like it went on forever. I was at the pantry for 2 hours. Usually, the vibe is very friendly, but it felt stressed this time. The volunteers were handing out information about the SNAP benefits running out. I think the majority of the discussions were about that. It's hard, there are a lot of veterans and families with small kids. I'll be ok (I'm not eligible for SNAP), but sheesh, my heart breaks for them.
I don't even know what I did when I got home. I am struggling to get my house sort of together. I swear, it is a losing battle. Then I realized that I need to get a gift for my SILs birthday party this Saturday. I spent so much time on Amazon. I had a great idea to get her something cardinal-related from the bird store but I don't know if I'll have time this week to get there. The stuff I saw on Amazon was pretty crappy and expensive. So I searched for "dogs" and "wine" and Bingo! There are tons of stemless wineglasses with funny sayings about needing dogs and wine. When I have time today, I will find the one I like, then point, click, and purchase.
And so goes my love/hate relationship with that place. :/

I am leading the forest bathing hike this morning and meeting my friend for coffee at her new house this afternoon. I miss the days when we could meet for a walk on our street.
Somewhere between the two activities, I have to figure out what we are having for dinner. Rather, what I am cooking for dinner. The isn't much in the house and I am not going to have a lot of time.

I miss the days when Cait was ok with having mac and cheese or a grilled cheese sandwich. But I appreciate her dedication to eating healthier options.

Anyway, time to post this, quick personals, and then out the door!

xoxo

OMG that is soooooo cute!! I hope that everyone has a great time together and I cannot wait to see the pictures of them!!

Linda, Linda, Linda.... You should know better. With kids that age, you *know* that the second you think with have a routine or rhythm, they go and mess it all up! :giggle4:
So happy you are having fun with them. ♥

Yay!!

Boooooo!

Have a safe trip and wonderful visit with your son!!
I love seeing Gary in Scott too. But I imagine it's even more special for you with Tim.

I'd love recipes. Whenever you get a second over, no rush.

I'll get some of the new recipes into one of the threads ASAP. If I forget (likely to happen!), remind me :pokestick:
You got this!
