This is what I wrote yesterday:
SCRATCH ALL OF THAT!One busy/hectic day at work down, two more to go. It is too bad that yesterday was the easy hectic day and tomorrow is the off-the-rails one LOL!
Yesterday turned out to be 100% off-the-rails. Not even on the tracks. In fact, *no* tracks in sight.

I was exhausted by the time I gathered and loaded the many bags of supplies into my car, even before I left for work. I unloaded my car into the classroom on the bottom level of the building. Went upstairs to the office to gather the rest of my supplies. I got the news that Lauren was sick, and I was doing the field trip on my own. Ahhhh!! Of all days to be solo, I have a cooking activity *and* a trebuchet?!?! What am I thinking?
Well, there was nothing I could change at that point. And you know what? I pulled it off and the kids had a blast. Fu-Xin came out to set the trebuchet up and did the loading and resetting of the pumpkins while I cheered the kids' pumpkins on and made sure the class all stayed in the Safety Zone. I had marked off every 20' up to 100' of the field and we had one pumpkin go past the 100' mark. Most of them made it 85-95' and two of them broke open and two of them cracked.
All of the kids tried the pumpkin bread, even if most of them didn't like it. We finished up with an art project and then used the gourds to bowl/knock over paper cups. We observed the gourds and had to pick the ones we thought would roll the best. Then we discussed why some of them rolled better/straighter than the others.
The kids were completely wound up by pick-up time but the parents are always so happy with our programs. One of the parents said that she can tell that I teach wth joy and it is true. One of the girls told me that she dreamed that she went on vacation with her family. They had stayed in a cabin that was just like the cabin where I held the millipede and she thought of me. Between that, and when the girl said that she found her passion after the last session, that makes all of the chaos and nuttiness and hard work (13,000 steps yesterday!) worth it.
And my coworkers-- I can't say enough good things about them. I stayed late yesterday to help Fu-Xin stack wood for the campfires last night and tonight. He had been running the entire day, took time out to help me with the Chunkin', and was working the Wicked Walk until god only knows when.
He split the wood and I loaded it into the shed. Where I found a toad and a mouse and was very excited!
There was no chance I was going to be able to cook so I gave Gary the option to either cook dinner or order a pizza. Pizza it was and now he has dinner tonight since I'll be at Weis. I am assisting at the Meditation Walk this morning, coming home, getting into a bat costume, and then back to work before 5 for the Wicked Walk. I am helping at the s'mores and hot chocolate table at the campfire, same as I did last year. This time, I am prepared with ghost stories. Last year, the girls were not comfortable speaking in front of the groups so I took over. But the stories they had printed to read weren't spooky at all. My kids kept their Spooky Stories to Tell the Dark books, which are now tucked into my backpack if needed.

Do any of you have a spooky story to share?
Hope you have a boo-tiful day!
