Good morning! Happy weekend! It felt good to sleep in and so far. I am being very lazy ATM. I know- crazy, right??? LOL
But the entire house is sleeping, including fur-babies. The dogs have been out and back in and asleep. I have inhaled 2 mugs of coffee :cof3:

My brain is telling me all of the projects I need to work on, but my body is saying, relax. And as long as I can keep myself doing that, at least while it is quiet. I am going to do that.

Yesterday was sad and happy and all that in between. The kids left their LLMD on a really good note. I didn't realize that Scott had been off of abx for 15 months. He had been off of supplements since February. Caitlyn is also doing really well, with just Immune Support Supplements. Unless they relapse in the next month or so, this is it. We have their records, so if they do need to see an LLMD after he retires, we can at least have a decent background for them.
Emotionally, it was really sad and somewhat surreal. As I was looking out of the exam room window and across the beautiful yard (Office in is Dr's home and the yard/pond is stunning) and realized it was the last time I would see it, it was weird. That view was "my own" in good times, bad times, a sense of peace, sense of fear and desolation. I wish I could explain it better, but it is (was), forgive me for sounding corny, but my landscape of a difficult journey.

I brought them flowers and we left with hugs and tears. Tara, the nurse and I have become friends and we promised to keep in touch. Oh man, I am getting all choked up again.

Trudy, did you go through any of this when Heather was sick and then eventually released from her Dr's care?

It wasn't a super long visit and we got back home here about the same time we would typically get back to my mom's and then still had another 45 minutes from her house.

I do have a funny-ish story to share rather than my usual ones of indignations. Bear hunt stories in NJ are for another day *winks*
So yannow how my house has a ghost of some sort? Takes things, turns lights on and off? S/he has been at it again. The DR light has been bonkers this past month. Gary installed a new switch, a dimmer dial. We figured that if the ghost could mess with that, we were in bigger trouble that we had thought. As soon as that was done, my BR light starting going on and off on it own. Gary put a new switch there.

And then.... The lights in Brendan's room started to do the same thing. How crazy is that??? We think that maybe s/he is adding to the spooky factor of our decorating :D

Have a fantastic day!

Nancy- last year when I was having those silly issues with my eyes, I had that 3D thing done too. Even though I am squeamish about eyes, it was really cool to see all of the parts. Great news about Luther's cold.
Woot!! Bet it felt great to be back watching the Devils in a regular-season game and with a win too. Did you see a lot of old friends in the seats by you?

Trudy- I hope that your power stays on and that the storms calm down. How is your yard holding up? Hope that you don't have a lake out there now and the trees are ok too.
Ovens and bathrooms, not a fun batch of housework. I have to catch up on laundry today but that is not as bad as yours.

Rae- fingers and toes all crossed for you that the power stays on. Are these storms very unusual for your area with loss of power? Like Nancy said, in our area, it is common to get noreasters and hurricanes, and after Sandy a lot of people bought generators. A gas stove is a blessing, and I remember a lot of times walking across the street to my friend's house to boil water for instant coffee since we are all electric here.
BTDT with basement flooding. One year we had so much water in our basement that Gary had to put on fire boots, pulled up to his waist to get some of it baled out. It was the Blizzard of 1996 and the week after it had gotten into the 60's and it all melted at once. Good times. ;)

Better go! Love and hugs!!!

good late morning - been out with Luther and even scrapped a page and my boys just got up. So Chris I guess everyone is in the relaxing phase. It was really chilly out this am too. But walking fast sure warms you up! Grocery shopping went well and the boys liked the dinner so that is good.

Chris enjoy the peace. I am sure once everyone is up it will be crazy!

Trudy and Rae my weather forecasters are saying these storms are like our hurricanes so good luck. I hope that we have not heard is just you being busy and not that you have no electricity. Keep safe!

Have a great day all!

Morning O-zies!! Well we made it through storm #2 and still have our power, however there were over 75000 without power at the height of this second storm. So we are very lucky so far. Storm #3 to hit later on today and depending on the which way it comes, we will see if we need to batten down the hatches once more or not. So far not too much mess in our backyard but the winds are blowing the opposite of what we usually get so that is probably why not much debris so far.

Chris - How nice to have the house all quiet and to yourself for a change! Well at least for a while anyway! Good to hear that you are taking it easy this morning too! Enjoy your quiet time and coffee while you can! Yes I totally understand about how you feel leaving your kids Dr. after such a long time they become somewhat of an extended family and only they really know what you are truly going through! The nurses at the hospital were just so wonderful to us and leaving her Dr was very hard and we had lots of tears!! He was a wonderful older gentleman who had such a great way with his patients. I don't think he practices anymore, but he must have had a fabulous career working with mostly children with Aquired Brain Injuries. We loved him!!! Bitter sweet because you know that things are good enough to leave his care, but sad to leave at the same time. Sounds like your ghost is up to his/her old tricks LOL that or you better have your electrical wiring checked out :becky:

DH is wanting to get our breakfast over with and get going to the store before this next storm hits us, so I suppose I better get a move on! I hope you all have a great day and Rae I hope that you are not one of those with out power over on the Mainland!!

Good morning, ladies. So far, we have survived storm #2 except for the wind last night knocking our drain pipe down from the corner of the house. I have no idea how the wind can rattle it that strongly to make the three pieces come apart and scatter across the yard.I was BBQing some burgers for a late dinner and when Darrell went out to check them on the porch, he looked out at the yard in the dark and said there were big pieces of wood or something strewn across the yard but were barely visible b/c our night time stroke is a soft light and doesn't illuminate well. So he went out in the rain to check it out and that's when he discovered the drain pipes. It took quite awhile for him to get them back up there and secure them, with my holding the flashlight and ladder. So it turned out to be a good thing I asked him to check the burgers b/c otherwise he never would have noticed and I sure wouldn't have. We would have had rain seeping into the ground and into the garage (sadly, that happened yrs ago and caused a lot of damage). ::Luckily too, the burgers were on low, so they didn't burn and we were able to have dinner. Today I'm off to shoot the double birthday party and hope the power stays on. I think it' ll be ok b/c I heard the worst and 3rd storm doesn't hit til later in the day so might get out of there right at the beginning of it. We'll see. It was very surreal to be driving yesterday afternoon to pick up a computer table and see the windstorm as I drove, watching the trees and leaves flying around like magic and people trying to walk with the wind just about blowing them over. One guy almost fell on my car at a stoplight as he got pushed by a burst of wind and fell sideways. He was able to catch himself and then stand up, then glared at me in my car. I guess at that point he was just mad at everything LOL. I smiled, waved and I think he swore at me LOL. But about 1/2 hr later it died right down to just rain and light wind. So if that is a taste of what's coming tonight...ugh.

Chris - I have an inkling of the sadness of losing the doctor, I felt that way when I lost my family GP. She retired and closed up her practice last yr and I still miss her. Having been to 3 different ones in the meantime, I miss and appreciate the time and care she took with me. The GP I have now gives me 5 minutes, relate one problem, check it and get out the door. She doesn't know me, doesn't care to know my history and doesn't care if i have concerns or not. So I have no one to talk to about my food issues/GERD/gluten intolerance. I can get my thyroid prescription through her which is the main thing but she really doesn't have time to deal with anything else for me. I hear a lot of people complaining this year that they can't find a doctor, they've been trying for 1-2 yrs. No one takes new patients out here anymore. Most people have to go to a walk-in clinic and then wait hrs to be seen. Its very frustrating.

Nancy - what a productive morning you've had already! Good for you.

Trudy - stay warm and dry. Hope your power stays on too. We were lucky yesterday as there were many neighborhoods around us without power but for some reason, our few blocks stayed on. Fingers crossed.

Afternoon all. Computer genealogy group was today and now I'm listening to the baseball game hoping Cleveland can win the second game to go up 2-0.

Chris, sounds sad about the LLMD. I haven't been quite there, but earlier this year our HMO basically went out of business and another group is available to us, but not our Dr of 20+ years. Now in the coming open season we've got to try to find a good new plan.

Nancy, love your hockey page picked for the AnnaLift! You look super decked out in Devil's uniform.

Trudy and Rae, we sure are hoping you survive storm #3 too and keep power. What a weather track that is.

Good morning my O-Fam! Happy Sunday! Did you all sleep well and now enjoying a nice morning with a cup of coffee or tea or Dr. Pepper?

I felt pretty good yesterday, pain levels were decent. But man, I don't know what happened over night but my back is feeling pretty brutal right now. I know that part of it is due to my Bag of Bricks of a dog. Gary was able to sleep in the bed last night, but Jaida thinks that should affect the way that *she* sleeps. When I woke up, Gary was on the one side, I was hanging off of the other and she was sleeping straight across between us. We looked like a very elongated H. Like this: |-------|

My day was weird yesterday. I spent an hour and a half untangling a necklace. It got to the point where I was * not* giving up, I was not going to let a necklace win. But I did it and now the necklace is back in my drawer never to be seen again. It was a gift for the bridesmaids at my brother's wedding in 2007. Haven't worn it since. But I won and that is all that matters!!!!!

After that, it seemed like the majority of my day was over. I am still working on putting my bathroom back together and a bit more decorating for Halloween. I helped Caitlyn proofread and edit her essay for Comp. It is on Alternative to Vivisection and Animal Testing. She had some really interesting points that I didn't know about as well as some new research possibilities. For example, many of the drug trials that use animals are inaccurate because their biochemistry is very different than humans, which is why a drug can make it to market and then cause huge side effects, such as live damage and death. Things that are toxic to animals may not be toxic humans and vice versa. There is also new tech where they can recreate human tissue in silico (on a computer!) and run more accurate testing that way.

Today- Oh man, I don't know what I should do. Right now, it hurts to sit and I am sure it is going to hurt to move. Can I just check out for the day?? Pretty please?

Have a wonderful day!

Nancy- woo hoo for getting a quiet morning as well. I bet it is because it is so dark outside in the mornings. I hate this time of year when the days get so much shorter. I must say, however, that I am very excited about the weather, we are going to be in the 70's most of the week. It is too bad that I won't have any free days where my mom and I could go down the shore and just walk on the beach a bit. The only day I have free is Friday and it is going to be colder by then.

Has anyone gotten to see the moon? It is supposed to be amazing this weekend. Maybe I will have to check it out if it is high enough before I go to bed tonight.

Trudy- yikes, you and Rae have your hands full with these storms. I hope that you make it through #3 with no issues. *knocks wood*
I knew that you would understand about the nurses and Drs who cared for Heather. When you place your baby's life int hero hands, it is their support, emotional and medical, that gets you through.
Hang in there, the storms should be on their way out soon!

Rae- that sounds crazy about the drain pipes coming down. And what a great series of events that you saw that and that the burgers were ok!

Back when the kids were little we had a hurricane come through. Gary was home from work with them, and I was teaching at the time. He calls to say that the chimney for the wood stove was leaking and that he had to go on the roof to seal it up. I had to run home to watch the kids who were 1 and 3 so he could be out there in a freaking hurricane so we wouldn't have the water pouring in. What a mess weather can be.
WTH about the guy glaring at you b/c he almost got blown into your car. You handled that better than I would have, I think.
Oh yeah, I remember when your Dr retired and how frustrating the new one was for you. When you get a good Dr, it really makes such a huge difference.

Jean- hoping that your team did well! How was the genealogy group?
My HMO isn't going to be in NJ anymore either and I won't know for a while whether we will be accepted in the Family Care program or not.Good luck to you finding new Drs. and health insurance plans.
Nancy- I didn't see that your hockey LO was picked for a lift- that is fab! I loved that page!

Better see if I can get out of my chair and if I walk around a bit, if will I feel better? Wish me luck!

good morning - well my Devils lost to Tampa Bay - they were close only lost by a goal. They have two losses but they were against the best of last year and so not surprised they lost but encouraged that they hung tough. The home opener is Tuesday night so very excited to go. Today I got Luther out for a walk and it was a beautiful fall day. Cool and crisp and blue sky was so nice and it was quiet. This week is to get up to 80 degrees by Wednesday. Yea for Indian summer. Last night was pretty funny my nephew and his daughter were at the home opener of the Phoenix Coyotes and texted me during the game. I am so glad I have gotten them to be fans! Alyse wore her pink Jersey and looked so cute! Her team also won and she finally got to hear the howl they play when goals are scored Yea! When I took her it was a shut out for my Devils LOL. Today is my baseball and football and hockey!

Chris so sorry you are so sore today. Cracks me up when I realize how I worry about Shadow sleeping with me. But lately I have been so tired I don't realize I have pushed her off her sleeping area. She always comes back. I love hearing about Cait's composition. Even when I was at Merck we were turning away from animal testing so glad that they are doing even more to get away from animals. Glad your bathroom is getting back in order.

Trudy and Rae so glad you both survived the storms. The news we got from weather reports of the Northwest were amazing in the wind and tornados.

Trudy love the pages from your last hike. I feel like in NJ there are so many places I should be hiking. Glad you are rediscovering your hidden gems.

Rae that is scary about your drains coming down. Good for your DH to be up on the ladder. Glad it was not too windy!

Jean I am cheering for the Indians. I would love to see them in the World Series. It has been very exciting.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. The power stayed on and the storm has passed. Now we are back to our regular old cold, rainy weather, looks like a full week of rain ahead. I'm so glad the storm never hit us full force. We were up until midnight, checking the backyard and watching the storm. Taz heard a big bang around around 10:00 so he flew down the stairs into the basement and stayed there until bedtime. Poor little guy just doesn't handle loud banging noises.I tried to load the birthday session pics on my computer when I returned last night at 6:00 but lightroom kept freezing during the load (I'm sure it's tied in with all the other computer problems, it is just getting more glitchy by the day), so had to load them onto an EHD then I was able to copy them into LR, all in all, it took 2 hrs to get them finally loaded. I edited a quick one for a FB sneak peek for the client and then I was exhausted so I enjoyed relaxing in my chair last night and watched a few episodes of Frequency and Designated Survivor. Today I'll be editing and might sneak in a bit of scrappy time later to take a break from editing. It'll be good to get these last 2 sessions edited and then I'm done until possibly some Xmas sessions. I'm looking forward to the break. I'm a bit stiff today and my back is sore. It's hard on my body to do all the twisting and bending I need to do while photographing. But, no complaints, I love it, I just can't do as much of it now. But this does remind me that I need to get back into weight lifting, I need to strengthen and tone, as I notice I am much sorer lately with my back problems. So, this week I am going to schedule a 15 minute session, put in on my calendar and treat it like any other appointment, something I must do. I will do 15 minute sessions for a few weeks before building it up to 1/2 hr sessions. I hate finding time to do it but I always feel so good afterwards so...no more slacking off for me.

Chris - stretch and if you can, do a soak in the tub or an extra hot shower to loosen things up. Cait's essay sounds really interesting.

Trudy - is your power on today? Hope you guys got through that storm ok.

Jean - sounds like a lovely day for you yesterday.

I'm off to get started on editing and watching some shows on my laptop. I just have to remember to get out of my chair for a few minutes every hour or so so my back doesn't get worse. Time flies when I get into a routine and then sometimes I don't realize I've been sitting in my computer chair for 2-3 hours but then my back lets me know when I stand up that it wasn't a good thing LOL. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Morning ladies... well almost afternoon! Yes we made it through the 3rd storm which turned out to be a fizzle
6912.gif
but thats ok because now the mess in the backyard will not be too hard to clean up! Remember when I had the trouble with my oven and it stopped working after I did a self clean on it. Well the other day when I cleaned it again, the same thing happened... NO OVEN!! I am so pissed right now and DH is being so stubborn about perhaps looking at a new one. I told him if all he does is get it repaired again I am never again cleaning it, and he can clean it himself!! This is the first oven I have had our whole married life that is a self cleaning one and I refuse to go back to cleaning an oven again!!! Ok I will shut my mouth now :tape:

Chris - Sorry your back is so sore!! I think maybe its time to make your third lump on the bed sleep on the floor!!! I know how much you love your fur babies, but you need to take care of yourself better! Ok now I will shut up about that :tape: LOL I am a bit too opionated today :sorry: Cait's report does sound very interesting! We really need to stop testing anything on animals, this day and age we surely can do testing in other ways without hurting the animals!! How great that your weather is warming up so nicely, how about sending it this way for a day or two? We could use a break from the rain right now. But we really shouldn't expect it to be any other way here, I mean after all we do live in a rainforest!

Nancy - WTG for having your page picked for the Anna lift! Its a great one and you look fab in your Devils Jersey!! Enjoy all your sports today! DH is very unhappy with his Bruins performance last night against the Maple Leafs!! Also the Jays losing again did not sweeten his mood at all either!! LOL Oh well what can you do??:noidea:

Jean - Thanks for being concerned about us during our storms, they probably hit Rae worse than they did me, it seems that they by passed us for the most part. Although people 25 miles away got hit pretty bad and lost power for most of the weekend. MIL and FIL lost power for 2 days. Now its back on and we are expecting to see them today. Bet you are happy that your team is now ahead 2-0 we are hoping for better things for the Jays next game!! Go Jays LOL

Rae - Yikes your hubby is brave for going up on a ladder during the storm! Glad you got everything repaired though! It would have been horrible if you had water damage again!! Hoping that the rain takes a break at least on Wednesday for our hike. I too need to get back into doing some more exercise and hope to get back to swimming soon! Perhaps a look at weight watchers again too, to take off those extra pounds that I gained over the past couple of months. So easy to put it on and so darn hard to take it off!! We really lucked out with this storm series and never once even had the lights flicker. Enjoy your afternoon!

Well I better get in the kitchen and help DH with bottling his red wine. Not much else happening here today so hoping to scrap a bit more today! Have a great one ladies!!

Usual quiet Sunday for us today. Not sure what I'll get done but will make dinner and eat watching the night football game. Wish it were baseball, but that's on cable which we don't have. Oh, I didn't pay much attention, but our hockey team won two games this weekend. They're the Cleveland Monsters (were Lake Erie Monsters last year when they won the AHL Calder Cup). Can't compete with the NHL teams, but it is very nice having a good team in town.

Chris, poor back! Did you manage to find any relief? Cait writing such an interesting piece must make the actual writing easier.

Nancy, guess you're doing the sports thing today also. At least Luther gets you out. I'm hoping for a Cubs/Indians world series. Cubs game last night was sure interesting. Stealing home is something else.

Rae, wish that computer would shape up! Your plans for yourself sound really good. Sitting too long doesn't usually get my back, for me it's knees. Too bad you have to work on the weekend, but you'll get it done.

Trudy, WTH with that oven? I would be stressed for sure. So glad you and Rae made it through the storms. Hope it's a good day.
