hey hey hey! How is my O-Fam doing this morning? Hope everyone is doing great! I missed being able to come back yesterday for personals. Man, it was a looooong and exhausting day. nothing too stressful, just long. I'll take that in a heartbeat over stressful any day.

Hi terry! Hope that you are feeling better today and the doc was able to get you an Rx. really sorry that you lost your voice, that always stinks. I swear by garlic tablets for colds/flu type illnesses. It was a trick I learned when I was first teaching and if I start feeling that stuffy nose/scratchy throat starting up, I dose myself up and I feel so much better.
Have fun w/ your DS and the football game. Don't cheer to loudly.

Laurie- I am so sorry for your loss. :( As always however; I am glad that she is no longer in pain. here is to a much better month ahead *raises glass*

maureen, you are too funny foot and Mouth LOL
Yikes re: your blood draws. Thankfully I have good veins and I usually never ever bruise or feel badly from them. My kids are good too, Scott has been known to record his Lyme blood draws and caitlyn needs me to hold her hand and she squeaks, but that is it. Even tho he is not the best phlebotomist, their dr is fab with them which makes it easier on them.
I cant wait to see your pics of NYC!

Frani- that is lovely- I am sure yours will come out just as pretty. I was in Michael's the other day. I don't have any reason to go in there any more since I am 100% digital now, but wow- such fun looking projects in there. But the prices.... eesh!:help:

Clara- good luck with the washing machine. Sorry that you have to deal with that.

Trudy- oh yeah.... halloween is BIG at my house. And my neighbor's, we kind of rule the street hahah! Last year, we had people stop in front to get a better view of "Lawnmower man" Gary and scott put together a "man, pushing a mower over a pair of bloody jeans. This year Gary has him rigged up to a motion sensor/air compressor and when you walk past, he is holding a chainsaw over a skeleton and the skeleton sits up. Scared the %$#@ out of me when I walked part if yesterday when I came home from work. hahahah! my neighbors have two anatomy-skeletons, one full size, one child size and they dress them up every year in themes. Last year I realized that I should have been taking pics of them every year. have I'll take pics this year for sure.

Chris, i laughed out loud at the cat cartoon. my fat cat is too lazy to jump up to where the keyboard is. the only way i'd get him up here is if there were FOOD involved....

hubby's away at his Alma Mater this weekend, partying with his old (and i do mean OLD :pound:) football team and other athletes. the Uni is having a weekend for former athletes, something i wanted to avoid like the plague. i always said that it was a good thing i didn't know him when we were in college (completely different places.) Flower Children (me) and football players didn't really mix back in the '60s-'early '70s.

got my blood work back and let's just say i'm not happy. crap. looks like i'm going to have to start a diet immediately and cut down on the red wine. that's my own prescription. although i must say that Lipitor continues to work swimmingly and must have been invented by a host of angels. LOVE that stuff. it just might be what's keeping me alive and kicking!

i think i might tackle the rest of the staining and polyurethaning of my kitchen garden window today. first i have to get to the Home Depot to buy more of the stuff, then i have to sit down and have a talk with myself that will feature the phrase "get off you fat *&^ and FINISH this &^%$ window!!!"

have a Happy Saturday, ladies!

Hi all. Glad to be back home tho darn our bed is no way as comfortable as the one we slept in all last week! The temps finally dropped here, and that's making me happy.

I started laundry as soon as I got home yesterday and clunk ...the dryer blew yet again another fuse. DH is off at RadioShack now getting a new supply. Of course, it is in the back and we have to pull the stack out. They are a set of ASKOs and I love them, other than the fuse issue. That started about 2 yrs ago. Repairman said he would just keep fuses on hand. Nothing he could do now except predict we still had yrs to go with the machines. I'm thinking they are 10 yrs old, and used nearly daily.

Tomorrow I have my Artist Way group over to the house for a studio day. We got together about 8 yrs ago to read the book, and now have just evolved into a loose group of various artists, crafters etc. I am almost the only one not Baltimore based so it's an excursion when the rest come south! 10-4 on a Saturday or Sunday.

I just have to figure out what I'm cooking for lunch. We eat simple because we have vegetarians, gluten free, and NO spicy food eaters in the group. I believe I will be making a tomato bean soup with bits of pasta to add for those who eat wheat. Faux pasta fagioli? Everyone brings something as we create, talk and graze.

Waiting for dh to get back so I can get the dryer going with the damp from last night clothes.

Chris-That cartoon is priceless. Our late cat occasionally got on dh's laptop but really gave up on the stairs a few years before his death. He would look up to the attic on occasion, but then turn and go back to the ground floor and the Jotul.
Today! party on!

Fran, meant to mention how gorgeous that table display was. My house is much simpler than that and I'm lucky to get a bowl of fruit or something on the dining table.

Phylis - ack. Diet. I do not like that word. I'll go back to the gym this week I hope because I really don't want to cut any more food out. At least I held my own in NYC with all the walking.

Ok, he's here! (dh I meant!)

Afternoon all- dancing lessons this am- we rocked the floor. Then home to dust-drywall dust. I have vacuumed the floors, then started cleaning the dust off the ceiling and walls for painting prep. Ugg- even with a mask I feel like a dust ball- bet I look like the pillsbury dough boy before I am done! Tomorrow we prime paint.

Stopping in to say hi!

Got meds yesterday-amen. Feeling better. The voice is back- although it is pretty froggy.

Darn the RV park- we have a motorhome-- their Internet is down. Tried to get on with my IPad last night and no 3G! What the heck! I had to resort to the iPhone! I'm at my son's house now getting my Internet fix.

Having a blast with my grand daughter--they are so cute when you can give them to mama when they need changing or when they become cranky.

Have a great weekend.

morning all- so I feel like the morton salt girl- when it rains it pours- not the weather either. My cat is not doing well- she was a stray that we have had over 11 years. She has had trouble jumping up on the couch off and on for a while, this weekend she started walking into corners and yowling, and now she is walking along the wall. She is not responding to calling her name. We have an appt at 10 to see the vet.

Ah, Laurie...I remember that final stage. Our lilac boy was 16 and just withering away. I was so afraid he'd break a bone and trying to help him to the vet if that happened would be excruciating. It was really hard for my dh to let go. I had to take the oldboy to the vet myself. Wishing you the best.

A tad bit warmer here and I have two soups ready for the Artist Way gang. All in all I'd rather be playing on my computer but can dabble in a paper art journal I've half started. cya later!

good morning everyone.

Laurie- maybe she just has ear mites, that can cause some of the imbalance issues. *fingers crossed that whatever is bothering her is easily and inexpensively treated* if not, than you know all of my thoughts are with you. :(

Frani- how was your day? Did you work on your centerpiece?

Phyllis- haha!! Yes, my PITA cat is still a "baby" about 18 months old, we rescued her June 2010. The other 2 boys are older- one indeterminate, we rescued him as an adult in 2003, and the other as a baby in 2005? 2006? Can't keep the fur-babies straight any more. The other day I called Scott's last rattie every other rat's name that he had other than the correct one. Sheesh.... Although I guess it is not as bad as calling my kids the dogs' names...... ;oops:

Anyway- hope you are having a great weekend. Can't say i blame you for wanting to stay home and finish the window instead of a football reunion ;) My MIL and FIL sound like you and YMG. She was the hippie and he was a Marine. Since I am a hippie dippy too, I think it is a good reason why she and I get along so great.
Boo about the blood work.....hope that you get your numbers down.

Maureen - have fun today with your group.

Feel better Terry- sending you virtual chicken soup and internet connections... (if life were only that easy!)

Today we are off to an art exhibit/award ceremonly for my next door neighbor. he is an incredible artist and won first place in a local art exhibit for "Sketch" so we're going to go and show him some support.
If I haven't mentioned- my next door neighbors are the best- love them to death and its awesome to be surrounded by such talented and intelligent people.

have fun today!

Morning ladies... so busy yesterday that I never made it here. Today will be another busy one as we clean up the mess in the backyard and get everything in order before the rains come. So sad to see summer go, but sure hopeful that this winter will not drag on and that it will be a mild one!

Laurie - to you, so sad when our pets get sick! My cat is almost 14 now and he is acting weird too, jumps at everything!! I swear he must have jumped three feet in the air last night when I put my hand down from the couch to pet him  Sometimes I think he is going :loco: Hope your fur baby is going to ok!

Chris - I just love your cat cartoon I have one saved on my computer and will send it to you for a great laugh!!

Hope everyone else has a wonderful Sunday! I am off to make pancakes for MG and myself, then its outside to start the hard work.

Hi all! My first time stopping in here, but I'm hoping to have more time now that we're slowly closing down our business.

I love the cat cartoon Chris. The only difference with mine is that he jumps up in front of the monitor and starts washing himself, so I can't see anything!

DH has been away for the past two weeks (back tomorrow), so I've been clearing out the back room in the basement and half of the garage (the other half is all his junk)! It feels good to get rid of some of the clutter!

Jane, did it ever occur to you that men go away so that when they come home, the garage will be clean?? i swear, when my husband is gone for a few days, i DO stuff like that. are we nuts or WHAT? :faint2:

We had our cat euthanized. She had no signs of infections, and all the signs of a brain tumor. The vet offered steroids, but no guarantee, so we opted to have her go to a place where she was no longer confused and in pain. She had rapidly deteriorated between Friday and today. So I feel better that she is not just wandering around the house walking against the walls and turning in circles. Filling my mind and my hands with painting the primer in the 3 basement rooms. UGhh- better go turn the hot tub up. I am going to need it.

LOL! Too true Phyllis - I always end up coming up with a project when he's away!

So sorry to hear about your cat Laurie. It's so awful when you see them in pain like that.

I think we have a lot of pets here who will welcome your cat Laurie on the other side. That's a good vet to work with you on a Sunday. Hugs to you!

Awwww Laurie so sorry to hear about our precious little kitty.....

Chris my arrangement didn't even get started, I went all over the place looking for silk flowers but since Michaels was having a 50% sale they were pretty much picked over by the time I got there.....grrrrrrr.

My computer had an error starting this morning, it did a reboot and went back to a date when it was working correctly and did some sort of repair....it's working fine right now, hoping it's not the beginning of issues.....

Played with a new digital techique and did a tutorial on it.....loved my playtime.
