You are not going to believe what I did to myself this morning.
I forgot to turn my alarm off from last Saturday when I had to be up for work. It was pitch dark, and I knew it was Saturday, and was looking forward to not having the stress of being outta bed at a specific time. Then my alarm went off. I was initially really confused-- was it really Saturday??- And then I was wide awake. Pffft.

Well, fine. That gives me more time this morning to do my tasks, so I'll have a better shot at having free time this afternoon.
(She says that now. Let's see what happens today. :p)

It was so good to catch up with my BFF. Not as fun as floating in her pool all day, but just as satisfying. It always amazes me that Panera doesn't kick us out. We were there for three hours, sipping on the same cups of coffee. If anyone was eavesdropping, they would have thought we were terrible people. We were trying to estimate how much longer her mother would possibly live. She had massive strokes in July, been in hospice since then. She is only staying alive by being hand-fed nutritional liquids. It's been really tough on my BFF b/c she and her mom never had a great relationship. We were trying to think of things that her mom did with her as a child-- like mommy and me stuff. We couldn't come up with anything. It was always her dad who was there.

By the time I headed back home, it was too late to think about shopping anywhere. Darn.... I was looking forward to that. /s

I have absolutely nowhere to be this weekend. It is FP day but I decided not to go. I am not in any desperate bind (As of this very minute, talk to me after Jaida's surgery :jawdrop3:). But I imagine it is going to be crazy-busy and I'd rather people who are feeling desperate or have little ones to feed get what they need. I also don't think I have it in me to be there for 2-3 hours. Two weeks ago I was there for almost 2 hours and I am sooo grateful for everything. But I'm feeling a little (a little, she says! HAHA!) frazzled.
I was supposed to be leading a Forest Bathing hike tomorrow. The weather is going to be rainy and no one had signed up as of yesterday, so that got canceled.

Plans for today-- clean my office area. Yup, again. I have papers, and books, and craft supplies all over. Prep for the retreat and my HS Pod Field Trip this Friday. Outlines for the Jan/Feb Winter Ecology labs we are hosting.
Scrapping. I need some time to chill and scrap.

How about you?

Make is the best day ever!

Oh Chris...I was hoping that you had this title wrong. Truly it cannot be Friday.
:hug3: I am with you! I checked and double checked. :/

But I came home so tired that I wound up taking a two hour nap. Then I met my friends for our Thursday night Happy Hour. And came home, watched some TV and was in bed by 9:30.
That cracked me up. I wouldn't have taken a nap, but would have canceled the Happy Hour LOL!
What is a 52-week book club? Are you really reading a book a week!!! :wow:
And hugs to your BFF and her family. Wasn't her son the one that had such a time finding a job...and now he has been furloughed. Of course he has. :rolleyes1: :sad1:
Yes, that was him. It took him a couple of years of internships and PT gigs in DC but he finally found a great job and perfect fit. He doesn't work *for* Congress itself but is part of the support department to the Capitol.
Weis (is that the name of the place..
Yes, that is it. I'm not sure if you remember that years ago Scott had gotten a college scholarship and a one-year internship at an ecology center. This is the same place and one of his best friends in Lead Educator/my "boss." :D
He helped me get the interview and they hired me on the spot. (Next month it will be two years! That's bonkers!!)

I hope you had a wonderful day with the kids yesterday!
That's the only consolation for the Bible study being cancelled.....it is already done for the next time! That and I did learn some thing while studying, LOL!
:nod1: And never stop learning!

Got Day 7 of the 30 Days project posted and my 1/3 page done. I did a little forethought for the project yesterday and prepped the templates for the next 6 days. Hopefully that will make the project "seem" a little quicker to put together on a daily basis!
So smart!! It's going to be amazing to look at the finished project at the end of the month.
I know, I know -- Friday already, how can that be?
Seems like we are all in the same boat this week. How did it happen?
The other thing is that the top of the washing machine is glass, and I store some cast iron pots on a shelf above it. We moved the cast iron to be over the dryer and put lighter stuff over the washer. I can just imagine me dropping my grandma's big chicken-frying skillet onto the snazzy glass top.
*gulps* That would be my luck. No need to tempt fate and hands that slip.
Have..... fun...... repeating yourself to David the next week or so. Talk about "these trying times."
Dashing in and at least saying "Hi" to all today. Some how I missed posting here the last couple of days. I did read this thread every day and meant to come back and post but. . . . o_O
It's all good! Love the idea of the transparent water bottle. I always struggle getting my ounces in when it's cold. Then by dinner time, I am dying of thirst, and the last thing I want to do is drink a ton of water before I go to bed. YKWIM???
LOL. You called it Vicky. I opened my email and there was one from Breck's saying that the bulbs would all arrive tomorrow. So I had to go back and look at what I would be receiving so that I could figure out the planting plans. That took some time. But now I'm ready to get back to my original plan of scrapping.

Very exciting that the bulbs are coming in :flower: Will Shaun help you get them in the ground this weekend? *fingers crossed the weather cooperated!*

HAGD, my friends!

Good morning ladies! I am up early...no alarm...just woke up. Today's list...do some more scrapping. There seems to be a little bit of muscle memory returning on the scrapping front! So I'm starting to enjoy it more and feel less frustrated!

Guess what is on the way to our house? Snow!:brrr: Seriously? It's only 11/8. We are right on the line so we may get rain instead. Shaun worked until 10 pm last night but today he needs to check his car. Does he have a snow brush? Does he have a snow shovel? Does he even still have a winter coat and gloves and a hat? Trust me when I say, this will be quite a conversation! But, in fairness, the last time that the kid lived in a snow state, he was really a kid and he wasn't driving 25 minutes on the interstate at 10 pm when snow can start falling immediately. You know...a new thing for mom to worry about. :rolleyes1:

Goal today is to get this desk cleaned and organized. You know, remove some stress from my life. Tomorrow is the family November birthday party. My brother, one of my nieces, Shaun and one of my great nephews all have November birthdays so we will meet at a new sports bar in town and have lunch and just be together. Shaun works tomorrow so he won't be there. However, the great nephew gets a real party next weekend for his 5th birthday and Shaun will get a cupcake there. :lol23:

Off to get another cup of coffee...with that 5:00 start, I may need the entire pot!:coffeedrinker:Then, I'll make some French toast for breakfast and then I'll be back for personals.

We are supposed to get snow in the mountains, too! YIKES! I am definitely NOT ready for that kind of weather! Our leaves are just beautiful and I want it to last for a while longer!

YUM! I think French Toast might have to happen here, now that you've mentioned it! XOXO

Good Morning!
Happy Saturday!
Went to bed around 2 and got up at 8:30. Slept very well since I tossed and turned on Thursday night.
Laundry is in the works today. DH had my coffee made when I got up. He is heading to the woods. He wants to get electricity run to the cabin today! Other than that, I will probably do some more scrapping!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

What is a 52-week book club? Are you really reading a book a week!!! :wow:
Not only is it reading a book a week, it has 52 prompts so you need to make sure you are reading about each prompt. Some are more difficult like "Title with a Kangaroo Word". I didn't even know what a kangaroo word was. And some are easier. "Title starts with the letter P."

I sure hope that these furloughs end soon and that your nephew gets back to work soon. I remember when he was hunting for that job and I'm sure that these times are bringing that worry back. And yes, I do remember when Scott had that internship and I remember him getting you the interview! Two years is just crazy!

With this weather, I don't know if my bulbs won't need to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday when it warms up. Then Shaun's help will depend on his work schedule I guess.

We are supposed to get snow in the mountains, too! YIKES! I am definitely NOT ready for that kind of weather! Our leaves are just beautiful and I want it to last for a while longer!

YUM! I think French Toast might have to happen here, now that you've mentioned it! X
Our leaves have been beautiful the last couple of weeks. We have one in our backyard that is late to turn and it just makes my heart happy to look at it. But we will see what this cold snap does to the colors.

And how can you go wrong with French toast!

I did laundry in my new washer yesterday; don't I have an exciting life? One of the settings is "AI". I need AI to wash my clothes? I just don't get some of this stuff. Like connecting it to an app? Laundry? You can remote start; why would you put clothes in the machine and then start it once you get to work or whatever? Obviously, I'm not up with today's world.

So today is the big laundry shuffle project. I helped David get the washer and dryer out of the closet so he can work on the duct. Now he's in the garage cussing at something the installer did. I'm on call for whenever there's a need to lift or hold or.......

I did get two scrap pages finished yesterday, so I'm caught up on my weeks to early October. It doesn't feel like I'm making progress, but on the other hand I did get one of the pages to qualify for the Color Play challenge, so two birds, one stone, you know.

Beautiful weekend, forecast to be 70° this afternoon. I'm hoping we're done with the laundry project in time for a winery visit. Maybe even biking out. I have to remember to stop by my friend's house to pick up her mail later. Tomorrow I'm scheduled to help with a pancake breakfast at church starting at 7am. I don't even know what I'm supposed to be doing but I guess they'll tell me. And then Monday is forecast for quite cold and windy. It will be the end of my fresh basil from the herb garden.

Time for me to go check on the status in the garage.

Popping in here early today... so I don't forget to post!!! :D I got side-tracked yesterday and ended up scrapping most of the day. Took a PJ day... no laundry done ... no errands run! Then read half a book in the late afternoon. Will finish it today while the laundry is getting done.... Oh, shoot.. I forgot to turn the heat up so I can get my shower!!!

@faerywings It is hard to believe you have been working at Weis for 2 years now!!! Glad you and your BFF got to spend some time together... but sorry to hear about her mom.

@LSlycord I found the 2026 Reading Challenge list... :wow2: Talk about a challenge! Had to LOL over some of them. Looked at the 2025 Reading Challenge list and think that I have read more than half of them this year!! :floorlaugh:dance3

@Terri M What a shame that the installers did not do a good job on the venting for the dryer.

Be back later... need to get the shower and laundry started.

I agree, Terri! Some of the new stuff being created doesn't even make sense! Besides the AI stuff.....who in the world would let their car drive by itself???!!! Not I, said the cat!

I saw where VA has more of a chance for snow than we do here in NC.....except for in the mountains. So not ready for that kind of weather!

You reminded me that I have not finished my monthly projects yet. I need to get back to it! I'm about 4 months behind!

@faerywings I have to chuckle at your comments you have a really good sense of humor in that busy life of yours.
Getting up early on Saturday in the dark I am impressed that you knew what day it was!!! LOL
I find I get more done early in the mornings and even in my retirement I still get up early.
Well since you have no place to be I sure hope you can get a few of your personal things done instead of working all the time.

@vickyday how nice you will have electric in the cabin. That is such a nice retreat. Laundry is a never ending chore...I'm starting to do ours again I just cannot carry the basket with my walker so hubby still on duty. Scrapping sounds like a wonderful plan for the day I hope it really happens for you. I think it's funny how we all have a plan but more often than not our plan changes. I'm with you french toast sounds fabulous.

@LSlycord expecting snow??? where are you? I see there is a huge Artic trough coming down so it is going to affect much of our country. It will even be cold here in FL.

Kitchen update yesterday ordered our appliances from Home Depot during their big sale. I'm excited to have all matching appliances (LG)...in all our other kitchen re-do's we kept what was there. Our quartz counter tops are ordered, the sink, faucet, drawer pulls are picked out---we had to get 40 handles so $$$ . I picked up some paint samples. We are setting up the tile floor demolition in the next few weeks so right after granddaughter leaves after Christmas we will be full speed ahead for the rest of the kitchen install. We are looking into an electrical guy to make more plugs, run under cabinet lights and move a ceiling light when we are ready.
Yesterday I went over to a lake friends house for lunch so that was fun and I walked home in my street walker. PT is going well so hopefully on Thursday they will let me use the cane and retire the walker. And hopefully I can start driving again.
Tomorrow we are going to a custom lumber yard to look at a live edge plank that we will use to put my lighthouse collection on in the kitchen....hubby's idea.
Last night I hobbled around the kitchen to make dinner. Pork roast wrapped in banana leaves with some yellow potatoes in the crock pot for 8 hours....it was delicious!!!! I will make it again.

Well I need to get going to walk with a neighbor.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Ain't it the truth!
we had to get 40 handles so $$$
Everything is that way these days, as I'm sure you know first hand! But some things are ridiculously overpriced! Like handles and knobs!
hopefully on Thursday they will let me use the cane and retire the walker. And hopefully I can start driving again.
I sure hope so! It is amazing how fast you turned the corner! So happy for you!
Pork roast wrapped in banana leaves
WOW! What a seemingly weird combination! Do the leaves hold the moisture in.....is that the purpose of them? Where did you even find banana leaves?

@vickyday It adds an earthy flavor not banana as you might expect. It holds moisture so the meat was very moist and there was liquid to drain out...I guess I could have made a gravy so maybe next time. I put potatoes in but I think next time I will add other root crop vegies to it...whole meal in crockpot!!!

My favorite....whole meal.....one pot!

Well, fine. That gives me more time this morning to do my tasks, so I'll have a better shot at having free time this afternoon.
(She says that now. Let's see what happens today. :p)
Did I jinx myself right there or is it just another example of Life TM?
Probably just another day in the life... :D

This is how my morning went:
Faery: Feeling very overwhelmed, I grabbed a stale Belvita biscuit for breakfast, started to scribble a to-do list
F: Puts on a yoga video to loosen up the tight muscles in my neck and shoulders.
F: in the middle of a twist
Gary: yells from the other room, What are we doing for dinner?
F: I don't know, whatever is on the app
G: So just the three of us?
F: twisting on the other side- yeah, I guess!
G: sticks his head in the BR, Oh sorry, didn't know you were in here.
F: Feeling slightly annoyed at the interruptions
G: Holding phone in his hand, Is it OK if Scott comes for dinner?
F: Back to tabletop position, all irritation is gone, Of *course!!!*
F: Finishes yoga and is very happy.

Until.........

Faery looks at the meal planning app and realizes that the ingredients for the next three days of meals were ones that were out of stock.
Gary to the rescue! He offers to go to ShopRite to get the items. And the half and half that we were running out of.

Gary planned on going to Shop Rite an hour or so later when he noticed one of the finches was just plopped in the middle of the patio, not moving much at all. He called an aviary rehab, and they said they could take it in but we had to bring it to them (naturally) and it is an hour away. Gary to the rescue, Part 2!
Gary brings the bird to the rehab and I clean the house like a madwoman. There was so much crap piled everywhere that it was making my head hurt. Just doing a quick dusting/vacuuming/mopping helped me so much.

Cait and I started to make dinner around 3.30. We were making roasted veggie and chickpea bowls and had a ton of veggies to prep. Gary pops in and asks if we have enough clean bowls or if he should run the dishwasher. Well, technically, we only have three decent bowls for "bowl food," and two of them were dirty. He and Caitlyn ran over to TJ Maxx and got a set of four bowls for $10. And they were perfect.

Dinner was awesome and the kids are awesome. Caitlyn and Scott had us laughing so hard we were crying and gasping for air.

When the four of them were at my parents' house in PA on Tuesday, they saw a deer peeing from the front window. I commented that I don't think in all of my years on earth, I have ever seen a deer pee. Well, they hadn't either, and apparently: 1. All deer dance around when they pee or 2. Just this one did.
At any rate, Caitlyn narrated the story of them watching the deer while Scott acted out the part of the deer, complete with antlers (his hands) on his head. I swear, I hadn't laughed so hard in ages. And that goes into the Campbell family canon of the night that the adult kids reenacted a deer peeing on his own feet while dancing around.
:floorlaugh:

Needless to say, I didn't get anywhere close to finishing the stuff I wanted to do yesterday but it didn't matter. So worth it just being with the family.

I have today to tie up the many loose ends, hopefully.

Wishing all of you the best day!

Today's list...do some more scrapping. There seems to be a little bit of muscle memory returning on the scrapping front! So I'm starting to enjoy it more and feel less frustrated!
That's great to hear!! I knew it would come back to you! ♥
But, in fairness, the last time that the kid lived in a snow state, he was really a kid and he wasn't driving 25 minutes on the interstate at 10 pm when snow can start falling immediately. You know...a new thing for mom to worry about. :rolleyes1:
1. SNOW???? :thud:
2. That's terrifying. This will be the first season they are both driving in snow? oooh boy.
Have a wonderful (sorry, I don't have a more appropriate word) time at the party today, big hugs all around.
I will "try" to get the list of EOs I have today.....no promises! ;)
No worries, you know where to find me LOL!

Not only is it reading a book a week, it has 52 prompts so you need to make sure you are reading about each prompt. Some are more difficult like "Title with a Kangaroo Word". I didn't even know what a kangaroo word was. And some are easier. "Title starts with the letter P."
Linda, Linda, Linda... what are you doing to yourself? :giggle4:

Laundry? You can remote start; why would you put clothes in the machine and then start it once you get to work or whatever? Obviously, I'm not up with today's world.
The only time I would use that is if I were trying to time it so no one would be in the shower and lose water pressure. But why would I need AI for that? I am not up for today's world either.
Beautiful weekend, forecast to be 70° this afternoon. I'm hoping we're done with the laundry project in time for a winery visit. Maybe even biking
I hope that you are having a lovely time out in the nice weather!
I brought my basil inside and it isn't making it, all of its leaves are dropping. It survived through last winter on my desk, so I got an extra season out of it that I didn't expect. I do miss having fresh herbs whenever I want them.
The run of emotions you led me on with this-- up and down and all around! Bwuahahaha!
It is hard to believe you have been working at Weis for 2 years now!!!
RIGHT??? I interviewed in November and officially started on payroll in December 2023! I swore that it was only a year until I realized I will be with my HS Pod group for a year in December.
Time is *wild!*
I have to chuckle at your comments you have a really good sense of humor in that busy life of yours.
TY! I am so glad that you think so. My family doesn't think I have any sense of humor at all. :lol23: If I actually land a good joke, they cheer :cheer:
Kitchen update yesterday ordered our appliances from Home Depot during their big sale. I'm excited to have all matching appliances (LG)...in all our other kitchen re-do's we kept what was there. Our quartz counter tops are ordered, the sink, faucet, drawer pulls are picked out---we had to get 40 handles so $$$ . I picked up some paint samples. We are setting up the tile floor demolition in the next few weeks so right after granddaughter leaves after Christmas we will be full speed ahead for the rest of the kitchen install.
That is soooo exciting!
PT is going well so hopefully on Thursday they will let me use the cane and retire the walker. And hopefully I can start driving again.
Wow! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Good morning all. I was up at 5:30 this morning...dogs wanted to go out and decided to stare at me until I did something about it. Brian woke up at 3:30 and couldn't go back to sleep so he went to the sofa and eventually slept there. So I told the dogs that we were going back to bed instead of waking Brian. But I couldn't go back to sleep so I began reading a book that I started yesterday. I'm enjoying it and will finish today I'm sure. And I've decided that I am going to "count" it in the 52 week challenge for 2026! Because that challenge is going to be tough enough, so if I want to start early, I can. Big, big step for this rule follower!

Needless to say, I didn't get anywhere close to finishing the stuff I wanted to do yesterday but it didn't matter. So worth it just being with the family.
I wish I could have watched Scott re-enacting the deer! And, I've had more years of living than you and we have plenty of deer in Iowa...and I've never seen a deer pee either! Love that you had such a good time with family!

@LSlycord expecting snow??? where are you? I see there is a huge Artic trough coming down so it is going to affect much of our country. It will even be cold here in FL.
I'm in Iowa. We have spent the last years in Florida and just sold our house there a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure I will complain about the bitter cold, but I am so happy to be home. :brrr: And I love that you are remodeling your kitchen. I'm quite sure from the scrapping you do to document your trips, you will certainly document this! (Hint, hint.) Can't wait to follow along. Hope that Thursday's PT appointment is great!
@LSlycord I found the 2026 Reading Challenge list... :wow2: Talk about a challenge! Had to LOL over some of them. Looked at the 2025 Reading Challenge list and think that I have read more than half of them this year!! :floorlaugh:dance3
Of course you have read more than 1/2 of them. How you find time to read and scrap...well I'm going to be trying to do both this next year too.

Morning, all... Woke up way too early... 5:30AM!!! But I can blame it on drinking much more water than usual yesterday!!! :floorlaugh: :jawdrop3::wow2:
Mad dash... :eek3:Whew... made it!! Decided that I would bring the full water bottle along with my coffee mug in to the office while I work on the computer. 1 drink of water for every 2 drinks of coffee. That seems to be working... 1/4 of the water is gone!!! :lol23:

@faerywings I almost spit out my coffee when I read about Scott acting out the deer peeing as Cait was telling about it!!! Oh, yes... that has to "go into the Campbell family canon of the night that the adult kids reenacted a deer peeing on his own feet while dancing around".:floorlaugh:

I think I will join you in "going to "count" it in the 52 week challenge for 2026! Because that challenge is going to be tough enough, so if I want to start early," So... I had better print off the list plus the journal to keep track of books/challenge.

I did run a couple of errands yesterday... to the Used Book/DVD store (got 3 DVDs) and the grocery store (grapes and oil spray). I had scrubbed the waffle iron a few days ago so I am going to see if the oil spray will keep the waffles from sticking. Been hungry for them since the waffle disaster happened last week.

Later in the afternoon... the doorbell rang.... it was the curb-painting guy... he had just finished painting my address on my curb!!! Got my address and the American Flag on it... WOW... it is perfect and shines in the dark when headlights hit it. :dancing6:

Of course... I did not get around to starting the laundry... No problem as I have 2 hampers (and plenty of clothes)... :D

Change in weather... it may get to 58*F as a high today and down to freezing tonight!!! Guess winter wants to give us a blast for the next week or so.

Off to upload this week's Free With Purchase LO. HAGD

Good morning ladies. I spent the last 3 days in bed...ugh. Nasty virus/sinus infection. My stomach is still queasy and I'm tired and lightheaded but feel like I am on the mend. Remi has been staying in bed with me most of the time. She really needs to get out for a walk so I'll shower and dress warm b/c I still have the shivers and then get her out for a short neighborhood walk. I need to get to the store to stock up on some soft foods for Darrell (he had a tooth pulled yesterday) and some yogurt, bread and almond milk for me.

Today I am back to editing, landscape shots, and then jewelry design this afternoon.

Busy busy...no time to be sick. I'll check personals later, I need another tea and a piece of toast to settle my stomach. HAGD everyone.

@faerywings I'm so glad you had a fun evening...laughing. It sure sounds like a great dinner and "show" Bonus 4 new bowls!!!! Roasted veggies are sooooo good. I have not made any in awhile so thanks for reminder.
Many years ago when the kids were small we were on vaca in VA when we were walking on a trail right in front of us a deer appears. It sorta squatted a little then it started to pee...well the kids were hysterical. I had forgotten about it till I read your note.
What happened with your injured finch?

@LSlycord ah Iowa that makes sense you would have snow coming the huge cold front will really be affecting most of the US. We moved from CT to FL 9 years ago but I have no desire to move back to the cold, snow and ice I do miss my family but Florida winters are awesome!!!
Yes I am making a before kitchen remodel page and will make some during the work and certainly when done the changes will be so big!!!

@BrightEyes That is so wonderful to have #'s on curb and a flag too. Glow in the dark is a great idea.

Well today we drove to a custom lumber mill an hour away to get a live edge slab to use for a shelf in the new kitchen for holding my lighthouse collection over the sink--Jay's idea. We got a piece of white cedar, I would have picked something different but I had to let him get his way once in awhile.
Not doing much I had a bad night sleep so I am dragging today.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Well... I found out .... the WAFFLE IRON is the PROBLEM!!! Mixed up the batter and sprayed the iron plates really well, poured on the batter, closed it up and let it cook until most of the steam ended & the waffle split just as it did before. :crying1::rollingpin1::furious::crazy: Pretty sure the non-stick coating on the iron has worn off over time.

So.... it is definitely time to buy a new waffle iron. Have a coupon from Kohl's and several stores are having sales starting tomorrow so will see what I can find.

All in all, I agree that you had a fantastic day! At least it ended that day! Love family time!

Good evening,
Finished up my Week 3 AJ Challenge today and all I have to do now is post it next week.
Nothing else happening today. I should have done some laundry for Mark, but just didn't! Fortunately, he has enough work clothes and underwear for 2 weeks!
Tomorrow I will print up the papers for the widows for Tuesday. Pastor and I will go in the morning to pick up the rented van. I will do that after I take the church deposit to the bank. So I probably won't be in here again until later in the day.
I ordered groceries last night and we picked them up on the way home from church. Also stopped at Wendy's for lunch. No supper for us tonight as we are still stuffed. Works for me!
I think I will finish up here and work some puzzles on my app while Mark watches football!
Have a great evening!
