*throws confetti*
I slept until 3 am! Whoooo hooo! That gave me a decent chunk of time. Then I was able to get back to sleep until 4.30 and drifted in and out until 6. I feel soooo much better.
Seriously.
Can you all imagine what I would be like if I ever got a full 8 hours straight? I would be *unstoppable!*

My mom and I had a nice time together, she was actually really "good"- stayed on-point more than usual. hahaha. We went to TJ MAXX and she got a bunch of things for gifts. I have to be careful -- when I give her suggestions for the kids, I end up not having any for myself. I got a couple of stocking stuffers and some dog toys so mentally I feel like I have started.
My MIL also invited us and my parents to her house for Thanksgiving and I told her that would be wonderful. Between these two things, I think I am feeling a bit more on track.
(or it is just being able to sleep)

We picked Caitlyn up and went to lunch so my mom was in heaven. She laughs at Cait's antics with me and being with my DD and my mom- best feeling ever.

Not sure what I want/need to do this weekend. Scott and Leah are going up to my parents' house in PA to work on the leaves. Scott talked to my dad who was up there mid-week and already started on the leaves. WTH, Dad???? Gah!!! But he swears he "left some" for Scott to do. *eye roll* We are taking bets on how how much he left for Scott- I said a 5x5' area.
Men. *more eye-rolling*

Caitlyn and I are off to the FP this morning, I hope that they have more dogs toys, the ones I got two weeks ago were tugged apart and desqueaked already. After that, I should either get into the attic to find any winter clothes up there for me or if it is warm enough rake some leaves here. I should actually ask Scott if he can bring my dad's leaf blower here instead of leaving it for my dad to get. That is a great idea. Keep the darn thing away from my 83 yo dad who has a hernia *and* I won't have to rake that much here. *triple eye-rolling*

Hope you all have a fantastic day/weekend! Big hugs to all!

BTW- if anyone wondered, my makeup game was on point--my mom said that I looked very nice (Gary did too, amazing what a bit of blush and eye shadow can do). She only said that I looked very tired when she looked more closely at me. hahahaha!!!!!!

@tanteva Good job with scrapping and uploading some LOs. I have no doubt that you will use that element pack in no time.
This is how I make my baked ziti:
I use mostaccelli instead of ziti- it holds up better when I bake it. Also, I cook it al dente.
Cook pasta, toss with sauce to coat-leave out a bit of sauce for the pan
Mix 16 oz of ricotta with an egg, some parm cheese, and a handful of mozzarella, salt, and pepper.
Put some marinara sauce in the bottom of a casserole pan. add a layer of pasta. put some dollops of the ricotta over it, another layer of pasta. More ricotta/pasta. End with pasta, top with a boatload of mozzarella. Bake until it is bubbly.
I don't put meat in my baked ziti, just lots and lots of cheese. :)

@taxed4ever Bummer about more rain! Ugh, you must feel so soggy.
I am so excited for you that you are showing your artwork and I *love* that it is called Teeny Tiny Art Show. LOL MIL would a few pieces at her first quilt show in 2 years a couple of weeks ago --so who knows-- people might be in the mood to buy!! *fingers/toes crossed*
I was surprised, the prices at TJ were the same as usual, so if I can stick to stores like that, I'll be ok. Do you have TJ/Marshalls/Home Goods in Canada?
I bet you could use gluten-free pasta for the ziti. IMHO, if you add enough cheese, you won't notice the pasta ha!!

I don't even want to think about my toes. I need to get what's left of the old polish (from Sept) off and this time of year, my feet are too cold to even think about not having thick socks on 24/7.

@BrightEyes I hope the time change doesn't mess anyone's sleep up but I won't hold my breath on that
That stinks about the pharmacy - but great news that you found turkey on sale. You are all set for the holidays!
Do you make sweet potato pie with canned sweet potatoes? I got a few cans over the years from the FP and I never know what to do with them. Do you have a recipe? TIA!

Haha!!! 100% Eva-- pasta and cheese are two of the main food groups. Wine, chocolate, coffee are the others

@bcgal00 How did you do at the dentist? Hope everything heals up quickly so you can go back to eating healthy again.
Good sleep vibes to you too!

@Cherylndesigns Oh sure, rub it in-- foot massage ... Sounds *wonderful!* I am happy for you! What color did you pick?
Hahaha! I am laughing at myself-- most of the colors I would pick for my nails would *not* look good on my cold "corpse feet" as Caitlyn calls them. They are usually shades of blues/grey/purple this time of year. I would have to do a bright pink for contrast.

@tjscraps Woo hoo for a relatively light Friday at work.
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That photo is fantastic!!!! Enjoy!!

Wow, slept through the night and didn't wake up until 7:15 AM! I needed the rest after running all my errands yesterday. Dropped off the water bill at the dropbox in front of the library; returned the library books but didn't see any new books that caught my attention. Stopped at the Senior Citizen Center to learn that we don't need an appointment with the property tax collector - just show up between 1-3 on Tuesday. I did pick up several books from their library. Stopped at Kolh's to pay my bill and bought a tee and a warm fleecy PJs with socks on the Black Friday Sale. Then over to Sam's to get several things and rounded the outing by stopping at Smith's to pick up a few things. It was another long outing so was glad to get home and put my feet up for awhile.

@faerywings glad you had a nice outing with your mom. Good luck on getting your Christmas shopping started. Hope your dad didn't over-do with leaf raking and left most of it for Scott to do. Great recipe for ziti.

No, I don't make sweet potato pie... I make pumpkin pie. Although I have made and enjoy sweet potato pie - just not on Thanksgiving or Christmas. Here is how I fix the sweet potatoes: [Note on amounts - large 32oz can of sweet potatoes use 16oz crushed pineapple; 16oz sweet potatoes use 8oz crushed pineapple.] Drain potatoes and place in deep baking dish then mash them. Add drained crushed pineapple - reserve juice. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger (amounts like you would add to pumpkin pie) and add 1/3 to 1/2 of the pineapple juice - enough to make it moist but not runny. Stir well, then bake uncovered for 15 - 20 minutes. If I don't have crushed pineapple, I substitute pineapple tidbits. The amount of spices depend on if you like mild or spicy pumpkin pie... DH and I preferred a spicy pie. The pineapple juice adds a bit of sweetness so no need to add sugar.

@bcgal00 Hope all went well at the dentist and your new bridge heals quickly.

@Cherylndesigns glad you got a pedi... and enjoyed the foot massage! Wish I could have that done but since the broken bone in my foot 2 years ago is still painful, I can't stand to have anyone massage my feet. I miss that. Have to admit that it is a challenge to cut my own toenails, too. Miss having DD#1 living here as she would do them for me.

@tjscraps I was also LOL over the photo!

BTW, I heard from my niece... she did have to have brake pads replaced on her truck but made the drive to AZ just fine. She is all settled in at the luxury RV resort. Glad to know that the trip went well. Sounds like she will be there until Spring. Glad she will be in a warm place through the winter.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and you weather the time change okay. CYL

Quick hello this morning. I have two sessions to edit, have to run errands, go to the pet store, take dogs for an hour or two hike at the park, get groceries and do some housework. Busy day. Got the bridge put in, it feels great, looks great and isn't as bulky feeling as the old one, it just feels normal which the other one never did. Dentist told me to always baby it, not bite into anything too solid or I'll run the risk of loosening it and the problems will start all over again and be worse after the damage this last time and the cracked teeth. I'm ok with that. I don't eat anything too chewy or hard to bite into.

I'll check in later over the wkend when I have more time.

Quick good morning ladies! I am busy today also and just about to head out the door to run a bunch of errands. Had a good day yesterday and gots lots done. Actually finished a layout LOL. Got almost all of my painting done on my Art projects. Just wanted to pop in and say hello to all of you and hope that you have a great Saturday! I hope to be able to come back here later this afternoon, but we will see how busy my Gary will be keeping me.. Gotta run!

Just to tease @faerywings - I slept 9 hrs last night. It was a good thing it wasn't a work day today, cuz I dreamt this morning, that if I pushed the snooze button , I paused time & no matter how many times I snoozed, the time would still be 9am. LoL I didn't get out of bed until 11am.

But - it's not good to sleep to much either. All mushy brained & tired. It's 7pm here right now, and I have done exactly ZERO things today. Watched a show on TV (caught up on the current season of a reality show) and knitted.

I think I am the laziest person alive.

Well, I managed to do it again - I've been logged in here ALL night and all day. ROTF HOW do I do that???

It's beautiful here - sunny, but not very warm. That's okay - I'll take sunny. I can hardly wait for more darkness - NOT!!! UGH I hate "falling back".

Chris @faerywings you made me LOL over your "cold corpse feet". I always get a very light color - beigy-pink (can you see it?) The main reason I go light is because it stays looking good longer and since I don't go very often, it works for me. I was SO worry to rub in how wonderful my pedi and foot massage were. (Not really.........BWAHAHA) I could fall in love with that cute guy (Dani). Bring him home with me and get a foot massage every day. Ain't I crazy????

I'm so glad that your visit went well with your mom and she didn't tell you that you looked tired. You mentioned that you could see why people had plastic surgery. I sent to see about having something done about my eyes and the dr actually talked me out of it. Can you imagine??? He told me that due to my extremely dry eye condition, he could not recommend it. I guess it makes your eyes even drier.

Kay @BrightEyes so sorry about your foot and that you can't get foot massages anymore. I broke my foot many years ago and it's still sensitive. I've had a couple of techs that were a little "over zealous" and I had to ask them to be a little more gentle. So glad to hear that your niece arrived safely and I'm SO happy to hear that I'm not the only one who has trouble cutting my nails. I'm getting pretty slick at cutting my fingernails - since I got my acrylics off when the pandemic started - I've had to learn to do them myself. I cut my cuticles when I first started, but I'm getting the hang of it now. They're FINALLY starting to thicken up a bit and growing. It was a long, slow process.

Waving to everybody and hoping you all have a good weekend.

Just want to post an update on the poinsettia (mostly for @felis ). In October a few new leaves began to show a little red and now there are a few bright red ones. So the season really is coming! We had sunshine today (but I think it's cold) and DH actually cut grass though it's November. Hope all of us changing time tonight survive it once again but I'll be missing that hour of evening daylight a lot.

I set up my new computer that my hubby surprised me with as an early birthday/Christmas gift & clearly there wasn't any sense in waiting until my birthday since I'm the one who signed for it from fedex (lol). So I groomed our dog last night. This morning, I played catch up on some layouts that I've been trying to complete.... Had a hair appointment today, as I didn't want others to feel left out since my sparkle was really sparkling. Sundays are for laundry and grocery shopping.

Somehow this become part of my Christmas traditions to, so thank you so much for the update! But I hope on pics too!

We changed the time previous week and I hate how early is dark now. It's just nonsense I can't believe that EU changed their mind and didn't ended this practice, as it was promised.
At eighteen o'clock (or I had to say 6pm) is so dark that you should be scary to take your dog out, or coming home from work/school. It's statistically proven that is less likely to be attacked and robbed at dark morning, than in dark evening, the time has to be accordingly with that.

What time is it????
Anyone? Bueller??

hehe, I know that it is way too early even though it isn't really. I woke up at 3 am according to my clock, but that means my body thought it was 4 am. I wasn't able to get back to sleep so tried to stay in bed as long as I could. Right now I don't feel exceptionally tired but talk to me around dinner time. ZZZZZzzzz
I am going to try to make an effort to stay up a bit later than usual the next few nights. I'm thinking that maybe if I am more tired, I might sleep deeper/longer stretches. Or am I deluding myself?

Caitlyn and I were stoked- they had a few more dog toys at the Pantry and the dogs were excited to have some more squeakers to de-squeak. I requested Am. Cheese and they gave me two packs of plant-based vegan cheese so now I can feed Tom. haha. I brought some winter clothes down from the attic and lots and lots of fuzzy socks. I love fuzzy socks. <3 This doesn't mean I am ready for the cold, however. I will *never* be ready for the cold.

I have so many things to do today. So many. :/ I am going to have to really stay on task. I started a long list and will go from there.

Other than that, it is the same old, same old. Hope you are all having a great day!

@BrightEyes You got so much done on Friday, no wonder you were bushed. Not a chance in the world that I could have kept up with you ;)
The sweet potatoes recipe sound very good, and pretty darn healthy with the sweet potatoes and pineapple. No eggs to bind it together? Or is it more of a "mash?" It sure is easy enough to make and I know I have all of the ingredients in the house.
Glad to hear that your niece was able to get the brakes fixed and is settled at the RV resort!

@bcgal00 Whew, you also had a ton of running to do, how is your back holding up with all of it? Enjoy the new bridge!

@taxed4ever I am sure that your Gary is keeping you busy, hope that you get everything done early so maybe you two can kick back with some wine today and relax

*sobs* See, everyone??? @tanteva is MEAN to me!
LOL!!! I am glad that you slept so well but wow, what a wacky dream. That brain-mushed feeling is why I can't nap, I get discombobulated and disoriented and end up more tired than I was. PS: you are not the laziest person alive, that was me yesterday afternoon
Silly question for you and anyone else who knits or crochets. Does the yarn dry your fingers out? I have all of these small cracks in the skin on my thumb and no matter how much lotion I use, they keep getting deeper. Any suggestions? Am I holding the yarn too tight - although it is my right thumb. I don't know. It is odd. *I* am odd :p

@Cherylndesigns Your feet must feel wonderful and yes, feel free to rub it in. Haha. The color sounds very pretty!
I had no idea that an eyelift could affect the dryness of your eyes. My eyes are super-dry and my contacts make them drier. Not a chance would I give up contacts for an eye lift. An old dentist of mine suggested botox for TMJ and said that a lot of people saved the leftover botox for injections- I considered that for a brief second and then realized there was no way I could afford it so here I am, all wrinkly and saggy. "Whatevs" as the kids used to say. :D

@Caro Switch out the steak for chicken and that looks incredible, did you go out or do you have a recipe to share?

@scrap-genie That is wonderful to hear about the poinsettia! I hope that you scrap another page of it this year. <3

@mywisecrafts Happy early b-day/Christmas! How exciting to get a new computer!!

@felis Awww, you and Jean are so sweet with this tradition <3
Here, I worry about all of the people who have to drive home from work in the dark, I hate that. Even a little longer amount of daylight makes it easier for me to see. I wish they could just stick to DST and leave it at that.
Stay safe out with your dogs!

@faerywings If I knit too much, I can get sore/hardened on my right fingertip, cuz of pushing the needle too much. But I don't hold my yarn tight at all. I've noticed when I check gauge, I often have to go down a size of needle to get the right gauge. My advice: check next time you crochet if the yarn or the needle happens to touch the place on your thumb. And - I do get dryer skin nowadays - menopause brings all kind of fun things! Also, winter & cold weather is always a problem.

Forgot to tell you all about how my ziti turned out. It was good, but now WOW. I used a tube pasta - Tortiglioni - Then I made a sauce (or should I say gravy? :)) based on tomatoes with shredded carrots, onion, garlic & a vegan mince that is made of lupine, peas & rape seed (salt, pepper, basil & oregano). Mixed the pasta with sour cream & shredded cheese, then put the sauce on top and stirred just a little bit. The rest of the cheese on top and then baked. It got a bit dry, but the flavour was fine. Next time I think I will use the cheesy sauce I make when I make lasagna instead of the sour cream. And buy better cheese, this was a bit tasteless. I have photos of it on the phone - will see if I can post them later.

Today, my plan is to read, I think. I'm reading a book about a guy who, when he was 16, got sucked into the cult Children of God, and was a member for 40 years before he woke up & broke free. Really interesting. Not sure you all know, but I'm very into reading about religion in general & cults in particular. I studied theology at Uni & wrote my thesis on Jehovah's Witnesses. Nerdy ... LOL Anyway, I just needed a break from reading - you know it's time when you read the same paragraph 4 times, and still don't get it.

Oh, and Chris - I only slept 8 hrs this night. ;)

Morning, all. I got sucked into reading late/early hours of the morning. It was 2AM when I finally finished the book then slept in until 7 AM. Figure I will probably end up napping this afternoon... not that I plan on doing so but the body has a way of falling asleep when I am sitting/laying in the recliner reading. hahahaha I never did get the laundry started so that is on the must-do list for today. I did get the sheets changed on my bed yesterday. I had bought a new set of sheet from Sam's and they are so nice and soft. I may get another set soon and that will give me 2 sets for the guest room bed along with 2 sets I have for my bed. I have other sets but really prefer the softness these have. They are a microfiber but they are not hot in the summer as some of the earlier microfiber ones were. And they are not 'slippery' - just nice and soft.

@faerywings No, you don't need an egg as binder in the sweet potato/pineapple dish. Yes, it is kind of a 'mash-up' and similar in consistency of mashed potatoes. I made it up many years ago as DH didn't like the sweet potato topped with marshmallow one but he loved pumpkin pie flavors. And speaking of pumpkin pie flavors - the holiday season is here as the Pumpkin spice flavored creamer is available. I got that and indulged in Egg Nog, too. :D And, yes, my hands get dry when knitting or crocheting very much. I use my rich face cream on hands when that happens. Sorry your thumb is sore.

@Cherylndesigns - that sounds like a wonderful color for your toenails. Had to LOL over you wanting to take the guy home so he could massage your feet anytime!!! My DD#1 was so thoughtful... she gave me a Dr. Scholls foot vibrator/massager to use a few years ago. I use it mainly in the winter as it has heat with it, too. Great for when the feet are cold and need to be warmed up! She also gave us a paraffin bath to use on our hands when they are aching. Wow... love it. Guess it almost time to get it out as my hands are always cold in the winter time.

@taxed4ever Hope you are not floating away with all the rain your area is getting. We are needing rain/snow as it has been a drier than usual monsoon season for us. Hope you took a photo of your art piece you are taking to the exhibit and will share it with us.

@tanteva - glad the noodles you used for the ziti turned out fine. Bet you will keep refining your recipe until it is a 'keeper'. Yes, I have to do a sample swatch to see if I need to go up or down in needle size when knitting... usually I have to go up as I am a slightly tight knitter.

@Caro ... that made my mouth water...I could almost smell the hot fajitas.... and taste the guacamole. I love Mexican food and usually have it every week. Yesterday, I made a 'breakfast burrito' like DH used to bring home from the golf course. It is made with scrambled eggs, crumbled crisp bacon, hash browns, and chopped Otega green chilis mixed together and covered with shredded cheddar cheese and folded into a large flour tortilla.

Time to get my shower and get dressed... then maybe I will sort the laundry. CYL

Good morning ladies. I'm heading out soon to go visit with family, run errands, go to the pet store with the dogs, get groceries and then home this afternoon to edit another family session I photographed. Then later I'll facetime with Bailey before dinner and then sit down to binge some shows. The wkend has flown by.

@mywisecrafts congrats on the new computer, how exciting! I've been thinking about getting a new laptop next year but am in no rush, am just going to start checking prices and specs in the new year.
@faerywings I bet the dogs were thrilled to have new toys. I got Remi her first mini jolly ball this wkend, she loves it. We're heading back to the petstore today so might be coming home with another toy or two :)

We've got a beautiful sunny day and not even cold, so cheerful. I think I even got that extra hour of sleep. Just don't want to see this pretty sunshine go so early. Almost halftime of the football game, so I'll be fixing our Sunday popcorn.

Hello all. It's gorgeous here and 63! Supposed to be getting even warmer later in the week.

Chris @faerywings getting your winter clothes down sounds good (I think). I didn't have a lot of winter clothes, but I layer when I go out. I had to buy a great big muffler and a couple of hats. I have NO idea where my muffler is - GASP!!! It's SO gorgeous and I have to find it! It's probably hanging under one of my coats (I must go look). My leather gloves have started disappearing - they're probably in pockets. That's usually where they get "lost" in.

Kay @BrightEyes that foot warmer/massager sounds divine. I used to have one of those - where does my stuff go to? The parafin dip sounds nice, too. I should probably look into getting another one of those. I wanted to tell you that I broke down last year and bought some fingerless gloves - I can work in them and even type in them. They were a real life saver. You have to get the "slim" ones - the first ones I got were too bulky. I buy them 2 for 1 on Amazon and bought my dd some and one of mine got lost over the summer (of course) so I just got two more pairs. I always get 1 black pair and 1 heather gray. My son-in-law always laughs when we wear them - he calls them "homeless people gloves".

Esther @mywisecrafts how awesome is your hubby??? I know you are super excited about your new computer!

Jean @scrap-genie I wanted to tell you that when we lived in SWF, I had a gorgeous poinsettia right by the front door. It always bloomed for us right around Thanksgiving! I'll try to find pictures - I did a search in my pictures, but it only pulled up my potted poinsettias. I know I have pictures of Asher standing in front of my outdoor plant.

Waving to all and Happy Sunday!
