Did you ever wake up and think to yourself, "What in the WORLD did I get myself into?" Yeah, that be me this morning. ;)

I signed up for a hike last month and today is the day. And if I were going alone, I am 99.9999% sure I would bail. My hiking buddy wants to do this one and as of 8 pm last night, she still does. This one is new to me but is supposed to be awesome. It goes past what is nicknamed the Stone Living Room, featured in the Weird NJ magazine
I was apprehensive already since the hike is more challenging with rock scrambles than I am used to but sure, I'm game. However-- and this is a big however- the weather is awful!! It snowed all day yesterday but that stopped overnight. The trail shouldn't be too covered with any leftover snow. The temps and wind, OTOH-- Ahhhhh!! :brrr: It is 33*F, Real Feel is 20* and wind gusts 15-20 mph.
:holysheep:

WHAT AM I DOING?????

:rotfl:

Before I head out, I'm happy to tell you that I got a bunch of things done yesterday and 2 more gifts ordered. The microscope and lesson plans-- still untouched. I have to work on that tomorrow. But the big thing off of my mind is having the Cousins Secret Santa taken care of. The rest is up to the kids. Whew!

Hugs!!

I thought of you yesterday and today, Chris - it's awesome, right? I never thought I'd say that. My friend and I went to Costco and I only barely complained about shopping in the rain. Did you see that the NJ Forest Fire Service lifted the restrictions after the rainfall? Seems a bit hasty, but they know what they are doing I guess.

And, I'm so sorry for your friend's illness, it's so hard but it's nice she has good support and friendship in you. :heartpumpred:
I was the same way with the rain/snow. As long as it was soaking into the ground, I was thrilled! I got the notification about fire restrictions and thought the exact same thing, give it a few days at least, right? (What do I know about fires other than even after taking a fire-starting course, I still can't build one successfully LOL)

Dressed in my favorite fleece PJs that keep me nice and warm and hot cup of coffee as I laze the day away. This is MY DAY... not doing any chores... or any thing except enjoy the day.
Oh, you look sooo dang cozy! Hope you had the best PJ day!

@taxed4ever I don't know whether to laugh or cry at your FIL and the trees. He sounds just like my dad.
Did you find anything neat at the Christmas Fair? There are two coming up in December here and I'd love to go to them but I don't think I am going to have time. I was hoping to find something for all four of the grandparents cuz I still don't have a single idea.
I am so happy that your calendar is done!!
Not much going on here. Working on changing up insurance (house) as the current one made me beyond angry. Told me I needed to do some lawn maintenance crime awareness management and I have until 12-31 to make these changes. UMMM HELLO! Its freaking winter with over a foot of snow already. How am I to make these changes??? And then while doing research I find that the current company has under insured my home. No wonder it was so cheap. UGH! Just more $$$$$ flowing out than in and I am jobless in 5 weeks so that's stressing me out and anyone have a spoon or two to lend me until 2025. I seem to have lost a few this week and last. Ready for Wednesday and NOT leaving my house. Just make pies and clean the bathrooms.
Sending you some extra caffeine to keep you moving until you find some spoons.
What in the world is lawn maintenance crime awareness mgt? Good luck looking for better/affordable insurance. I'm with you on the more $$ flowing out than in... Hope it gets easier :hug2:

actually got some Christmas ordered yesterday! I sent a note to the moms of the grands with a link to Kohl's Black Friday deals that had already started. They had a ton of electronic stuff on sale, so I thought they would be interested. But, no, most of them just want cash! I'm OK with that! Easy Peasy!
Oh yeah, cash makes it easy!
Thank you for thinking of my BFF ♥
You look just as cozy as Kay!

Hi Everyone! It's Friday!!!! Yay! Belle will be here in the morning and we'll make some more organization progress for her move here in about a month. Her job interview at my work is this coming Monday. I'm trying to be excited without getting in her business. I'm also hoping to spend some time creating this weekend.
Good luck vibes coming to Belle~~~~~~~~
You can be as excited as you want in here, we'll be more than happy to join in!! dance3
Happy birthday to Belle too! What an absolutely creative and fantastic way to celebrate her birthday with the Parade decor!

Time to start layering up my clothes....

Love to you all!

Morning, all. Had such a fabulous ME day yesterday, Lazed around - just relaxing and having a 'do nothing' day. Had calls from sister and all 3 DDaughters. Don't feel any older but glad I have made it and still kicking around and enjoying life. DD#3's birthday is next week - the big 60 - which makes all of my 5 kids 60+!!!! Guess that makes me a Senior Citizen for sure!!!:floorlaugh: I finished reading "You Never Know" a Memoir" by Tom Selleck last evening. Really enjoyed it as it brought back lots of memories of those times when he was young and trying to get his acting career started and the challenges along the way.

@faerywings Hope the hike trail is not covered in snow and too challenging. But on the other hand, so glad the rain/snow has helped contain the NJ/NY fires.

@mimes1 Glad that things are moving along for Belle moving back home.

@vickyday Bad news that the car problems are continuing...

@taxed4ever Oh, my goodness... hope that FIL doesn't try to cut down the tree himself. YIKES!!!

Well, the hamper is over-flowing so time to get the laundry sorted and :laundry:. CYL

Good Morning All!
Its warmer today at 18*. I dont know what I did but my back hurts. I feel like it needs to crack but its super painful between my shoulderblades and kept me up half the night.

What are you doing???? I am with Vicky, you can bail. Doesn't sound fun to me. If you go I hope you have a wonderful time and stay warm.

That's what we wanna know. We are fire wise and have a good cleared area. If a criminal was on our property and we didn't know it, or they took us by surprise, I would be shocked. Plus we have cameras. Yeah, bye bye stupid insurance. They also undervalued our house. I did find a new company so that is good just to get the proper coverage its more. But at least my house will be covered.

Good morning ladies. I've been outside with Remi a few times to play in the snow. She literally vibrates, she is so excited about it. She looks thru the window and softly whines and shakes with excitement. We got another 3-4" yesterday and another inch or two today but then it should stop by late afternoon, for the next 3-4 days. We had shoveled the first batch and now we'll get out the snow blower and do the driveway again in another hour or two. We have company coming this afternoon so need the driveway cleared for them. Then tomorrow we have game day and have 4 coming for the afternoon. Busy wkend.

We joined over 90 people on two big coach buses yesterday morning for the drive out to Rosebud (about 1.5 hrs away) for a Xmas play and lunch. Both were fantastic. We all had a blast. Got back about 6:30 and then I dropped off D and Jen hopped into the car so we could go to the downtown outdoor market with the tree lighting ceremony. It was cold but fun to wander around for an hour. They gave away food and hot chocolate. By the time we got home around 8 it was too late to make dinner so we had pizza hut delivered. I don't often get pizza anymore but when I do I sure enjoy it. We have leftovers for dinner tonight so no cooking...yay!

I got another big delivery of jewelry supplies and beads last night so can't wait to start making jewelry. My class is next Saturday. I've been looking online at bead designs. I've ordered lots of wire and connectors/crimpers charms, so have all I need to get started on it. I just have a few questions for our teacher next wkend and then I'll be ready to get started. That will be fun.

@faerywings Be careful on the hike today. Do you have cleats/spikes for your boots?

@AK_Tracy that is terrible about the insurance. Glad you found something else. We have lots of choices here for everything and it is so difficult to figure out what they offer and what to get. Everyone we talk to has a different opinion so that doesn't help much.

@BrightEyes Happy belated birthday Kay! Sounds like you had an enjoyable relaxing day.

I'm getting a bit more coffee and will get out of here soon to run errands. Have a great day everyone.

Yes and the part that makes me so sad is I have been with this company over 30 years. And now they wanna jerk me around and make things impossible. I have so much insured with them and am never late. It just saddens me that they want to do this. But oh well. Life goes on and I found someone who wants my business.

Sounds like Remi is having a blast in the snow. Its so fun to watch the dogs play in snow. Its one of my favorite things, watching them romp around.

Let us know how it went!! It sounds like me when my husband wanted me to hike to the local peak to see the meteor a few weeks ago!!!

I am camped inside the house today - the Formula One race is here in Vegas so we are watching beginning to end coverage here. Mike and Meli went to free practice 1 and 2 on Thursday and he's itching to go to the actual race tonight but it's just too expensive. It's a rich man sport - I'll tell ya!

I am feverishly trying to catch up with my Project 52 book - I'm only into August. OOPS!

Nothing much else is going on. I decided to maintain instead of lose this holiday season - it's just too hard to keep so tight on my food - but I will NOT relax my exercise. I'm actually enjoying it! I hope to have NO GAIN this holiday season and to start back fresh in the new year. January 13 is my one year anniversary of my lifestyle change.

Happy Sunday!! I slept like a rock last night. I didn't wake up until 6.30 which is like Noon in Normal Sleeper World. It was no wonder, the hike yesterday was challenging. The group I hike with and take classes with is called Trailbound and the founder of the group sent out an email Friday night saying that the snow should be all melted.
We all decided yesterday that he is full of you-know-what. :lol23:

This is what it looked like:
PXL_20241123_150640303.NIGHT_resize.jpgPXL_20241123_155006896.MP_resize.jpg

Rock scrambles in 10"+ of snow. No one had spikes since we all thought (were told) the snow would be melted. hahah! I don't have spikes and Scott's were not in his car when I asked to borrow his on Friday. Not to mention, I made a vow in 1989 that I would never hike in the snow. I did that once and swore I'd never do it again.
I don't think anyone- maybe the leaders did- got through without being on their butts at least once. Sliding in slow motion toward a tree or a rock is a weird feeling. One woman in front of me was sliding backward and I threw my hand out as if my hand was gonna do something. I told her it was there even if it wasn't going to help. :p

Today I have to buckle down and prep for Thanksgiving and my lesson plan since I didn't get to any of that last week. Gary bought Caitlyn and Tom's dining room table down and now I only need to look for more chairs. We are 3 short. I'll ask if I can bring a few home from work.

What good plans do you all have today?

@faerywings WOW!!! I wouldn't want to be hiking in that much snow... especially in mountain terrain!! Glad you survived without any damage!!! The photos are terrific but :brrr: :brrr: :brrr: brrr... looks so cold. Nice that you have Caitlyn & Tom's dining room table to use for Thanksgiving. You will have a house full that day.

Looking at the two pics I just posted reminded me of a thought I had. While on the hike, I was joking that if I were home and saw photos of people hiking in the snow, I would have said they were CRAZY!

Bonus: A woman had her phone attached to her belt loop with a carabiner and bungee cord. She got it on Amson so I ordered one for Scott to put in his stocking. :elf3:

Had calls from sister and all 3 DDaughters. Don't feel any older but glad I have made it and still kicking around and enjoying life. DD#3's birthday is next week - the big 60 - which makes all of my 5 kids 60+!!!! Guess that makes me a Senior Citizen for sure!!!:floorlaugh:
Kay, you are the best example of living the Senior Citizen life I can think of!

WOW! I'm sure I would bail! You have my permission! ;)
I got to the parking lot and it was already filled so I parked on the road. When other hikers were saying that you could get ticketed, I left my pack with my hiking buddy and moved my car into the lot, blocking other people from our group. i was teasing her that it was a good thing I left my pack with her or I might have driven off back home :giggle4:

Its warmer today at 18*. I dont know what I did but my back hurts. I feel like it needs to crack but its super painful between my shoulderblades and kept me up half the night.
How is your back feeling? Are you going to have some time to relax today?
There were times I was cold, especially up at the top of the rocks and the wind was blowing hard. But I loooove my winter hiking boots and my feet were warm and dry, even as we sloshed through snow and water. I swear I should be a salesperson for Oboz brand. LOL!
That's what we wanna know. We are fire wise and have a good cleared area. If a criminal was on our property and we didn't know it, or they took us by surprise, I would be shocked. I don't get it! It's like these companies will nickel and dime you to death and hope you don't notice? :rolleyes1: NJ lifted some restrictions or reworked something legally so car insurance companies could raise rates and everyone got slammed. 20% in some cases and it didn't matter which company you have.

I sure did feel that one, Chris - both in car AND homeowners. My insurance agent told me the companies petition NJ Ins regulators for permission to raise rates and the state gives it to them, mostly because so many insurance companies are leaving NJ and they don't want more to. Great. We know who pays. The rates raises are outstanding, when does it stop? o_O

HAHA, Chris speaks the truth! And then there are the circles and jug-handles. I had my sister and Indiana friend in the car once and made the left turn via a jug-handle and hear quietly from the back seat, "Well, that was interesting...." :D

Yesterday was a busy day... finished all the :laundry: except for 1 load. It is the red/burgundy clothes. I am wearing burgundy sweats today - so will do that load tomorrow. Also scrapped some not yet released kits and worked on a December challenge. And did a few chores around the house. I was tired in bed and turned off the light by 7:30PM!!! :wow2::wow2::thud:Of course, I woke up early... 5AM!!! Glad to get my :coffeedrinker:to get the brain stirring. :floorlaugh: It is right at freezing but the wind chill brings it down to 27*!!! The good thing is it may get to 60*F this afternoon. It is crazy as there are still lots of trees with lots of leaves on the branches!! Looks more like the end of October rather than the end of November. Seems strange to have Thanksgiving so late in the month, too.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, gals.

Need more coffee and get dressed. BBL

I have been MIA, it's so hard to get everything done...I don't know how I ever worked.
I finished the sign painting at the club. A gardening friend and I went to buy some shrubs to plant in front of the club main building. I dug up a large succulent shrub I had and another friend got some plants so we planted about 35 shrubs in 2 days. Oh boy do my knees hurt .....so much for putting off their replacement...I'll try resting them with before I go see the surgeon again.
Today is Thanksgiving Feast at the club so we will be cooking for 80 aprox. I'm cooking a turkey, corn casserole , Jay is smoking a ham and a sugar pie...We always work in the kitchen then help with cleanup. Yesterday I went over to put the tablecloths on and help decorate.

@BrightEyes Happy birthday I hope you had a great day.

@faerywings I used to hike in the snow when I was younger but no way now. If the forecast was really bad I would probably bail like everyone is saying.

I'm glad the fires are out in NY and NJ but I agree perhaps they should have waited if for no reason to give people some peace of mind that they are safe.

@vickyday I'm sorry for your car troubles but I know from working in my son's repair shop sometimes they are hard to diagnose even with the expensive test equipment. Good luck and keep us posted

Good morning ladies. The snow has stopped. Everybody made it for canasta game day yesterday. Today is another group for a rummy type game. One is coming from a neighboring town so not sure if the roads will be good enough for her to drive in. It'll be an easy day for food b/c I'll serve the same as yesterday.

Remi cries to go out quite a bit, she is such a snow girl LOL. I will get out in the yard for some play time before guests arrive today. Just finished The Guest by B.A. Paris and enjoyed it. Next I'll read Murder Road by Simone St. James. I'll finish that up by the end of the week and start my first Christmas themed story, a mystery novella "The Christmas Guest" by Peter Swanson.

The house is decorated, the Xmas mugs are in the cupboard - I've never been so organized for Xmas before!

@faerywings I bet that hike was grueling - but what a view!

@BoatLady Sounds like you are very involved in your club! I'll be doing kitchen duty next wkend at our club (euchre tournie) but it'll be finger food prep and cleanup.

Hope you all have a good day. I need to hop in the shower and get on with my day.

Great photos! I'm not surprised everyone ended up on their behinds!

Good Afternoon!
Had to drive Mark's "farm" truck to Dorothy's house (the lady we drive to church) this morning. The car is still not healthy. Every time the mechanic fixes the problem for the code the engine light throws, another code throws! He is a really good mechanic and he admits that this has really got him stumped! He says the codes the engine light is showing would allow us to drive the car even with the engine light on and we may have to get the car so we can drive to my daughter's in Ohio for Thanksgiving and drop it back off to the mechanic when we get back. That worries me somewhat! But we can't afford to rent a car for the trip, either! We will be one for 6 days. Speaking of which, I need to do an MIA when I finish this!
Went to KFC for lunch after church today. It hit the spot! We brought it back home.
I've got the devotion done for the widows, basically. I will be reviewing it several times and adding/subtracting as needed before I call it done!
Today I will be working on the daily ATC so I can post the current collection of 9.
Tomorrow I will begin working on the packing for our trip. Ilene will be spending the week with her daughter so we won't be getting together until the first part of December. Did I really say that??? It boggles my mind how fast this year went!
My wrists are getting better and better everyday! Thank You, Lord!
OK, that's it for me!
Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!

HAHA, Chris speaks the truth! And then there are the circles and jug-handles. I had my sister and Indiana friend in the car once and made the left turn via a jug-handle and hear quietly from the back seat, "Well, that was interesting...." :D
@pachimac
@faerywings F1 is actually not going around in circles. That’s NASCAR. They do left and right turns and straights too! It is so much more!

A few years ago when we had our last big boat the stupid insurance company wanted to do an inspection. It was winter the boat was up on land and shrink warped. They wanted to do an on land inspection then one in the water. It's expensive to put the boat in and take off shrink warp then put it all back on for the remainder of the winter... What a battle we had. They finally waited till spring so on launch day they inspected the boat then when i was set into the water fro the rest of the inspection and for the rest of the boating season.
